The evening had settled into a gentle hush by the time Leon and I were already inside and eating at the table I set up at by Aunt Lou’s garden. The table was set, the candles flickering softly, casting a warm glow over the room. I took a deep breath as I opened the door, trying to steady the fluttering in my chest.

"How was the taste?" I bravely asked, trying to sound casual despite my nervousness that Leon would not like my cooking.
