Luca’s POV

As I walked back to my office, the weight of everything around me just pressed down on me. I've built my empire over the years from scratch and everyone was stunned by how quick and territorial it grew. More reason I couldn't let anyone, the Ivano or anyone else, tear it down.

My office was a basiton of steel and glass, perched above the city. The floor to ceiling windows offered a splendid view, but today, the view was nothing but distracting. I had too much on my mind. I poured myself a glass of whiskey, the amber liquid swirling in the glass as I turned back to the room.

I took a sip of the whiskey, letting the burn settle in my throat as I made plans in my head. Firstly, I needed more leverage to keep Astrid beside me. From the way she was able to escape from high ranked all this while, I could tell it will be much easier for her to do the same if she escapes.

As I pondered on this, there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” I called, setting my glass down.

The door opened, and Vincent stepped inside, his expression calm and serious at the same time. Unlike the rest of my men, he dressed more casually with his black shirt and trousers. From the air surrounding him, I could tell he had something important to say.

“What is it?” I asked, leaning forward slightly against the table.

“We got wind of their plans.” Vincent said, his voice low. “The Ivano are going over to get the good but I don't think it's just that they're going for. They're planning to hit us hard and cause a dent, a coordinated attack.”

“They've got nerves.” I scoffed, anger surging through me. Have I been too lenient? Just because I stopped claiming territories, did they think I was no longer in the business. Vincent's sources were always a hundred percent so if he said it's happening, it is happening.

I stood up, making the decision in an instant. “Then we hit them hard. I want everyone of our business shut down for the night and defended. And find out where they'll be meeting. If they want war, they get war. You get what you want from Lucas Santoro. I'll make sure to send whoever is leading Marcello’s head to their leader.”

Vincent nodded, already moving to carry out my orders. “I'll handle it.”

As he turned to leave, I stopped him. “One more thing. Astrid. If things go sideways, make sure she's protected. I still need her up and working.”

Vincent gave a sharp nod at the command. “Yes, boss.”

I drained the last of my whiskey, feeling the fire settle in my belly. Let them come. I was ready. And when the dust settled, I'd be the one standing.

The night her was more soothing than usual as I stood on the rooftop, surveying the city below. One thing I was proud of, even without showing it from my achievement over the past ten years of my empire standing was that I was proud of it and every attack that was launched was dealt with instantly.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I answered it without hesitation. “Report.”

“We're in position. Lockdown complete and we've got eyes on the Ivano,” Vincent's voice crackled through the line. “They are moving towards the warehouse on G district.”

I burst out laughing at the number of district away they are in order to stay far away from me or what? Nothing ever goes by me unless I want it to. “Goof. Let them think they have the upper hand and when in position, we strike. No survivors.”

“Understood boss.” Vincent replied, quite pleased. “And the leadership? Ivano and Marcello sent both underboss. I think they've got some crazy plan underneath.”

“I'll take care of them. Whatever it is they're planning, we get rid of it.” I said before ending the call. I pulled out a cigarette to take a smoke while counting down to minutes.

My phone buzzed again, this time it was a text from one of the scouts. Kyle Ivano, the underboss and Tai Marcello had been spotted arriving at the warehouse, flanked by their high lieutenants.

I texted Vincent to initiate the strike, then slipped my gun into its holster and headed for the stairs. I'm getting this done.

Despite the district being far away, it was a short drive since I knew my turf better than anyone. And it was foolish of them not to take that into consideration first.

I parked a few blocks away before making my way through the maze of alleyways, sticking to the shadows. When I got to the rendezvous point, I assessed the situation. There were two guards outside to make it all seem natural but I knew there was an insane amount inside. But my target was Kyle Ivano. Getting him means getting a upper hand on the Ivano.

I slipped though the side entrance, moving silently through the dimly lit corridor. The warehouse was vast, the smell of metal and oil heavy in the air and I knew it would soon b accompanied by the stench of blood.

I leaned against the wall as I finally caught their discussion. I wasn't bothered to start immediately. I was the only one here and the only one needed to be here or they will just get in my way.

“We have Intel on Luca Santoro but not much–”

“Isn't it sweet to walk in on you conversing about me?” I said, turning into the room with a devilish smirk.

Stepping out of the warehouse into the cool night air, my shirt was drenched in blood with blood splattered over my face. Vincent was standing there with his arms folded as he looked at me dump the almost lifeless body of Kyle Ivano before him.

“Mission accomplished.” I smirked while lighting the cigarette in my mouth.

“Next time, boss. Can you beat him to a much better condition?”

“Just take him to the doctor and make sure he doesn't die.”

“Yes, boss. And there's news from Astrid.”

Astrid's POV The screen flickered before me as I did as he asked. I've been in here for over four days now and all I've been doing was breaking into the Ivano’s system which was even more complicated than I thought. Originally breaking through this would make me a lot of money to past my entire lifetime but I can't even ask that from him. Although I've been gotten some information, I wasn't ready to give them to him just yet and just kept postponing it. But, one thing was for sure, and that was the fact that Luca wasn't just trying to protect his territory, he was trying to expand it. And the last thing I wanted was to get involved in a mafia war but it wasn't like I had a choice already. It was either I stand with him or against him and that definitely means death which I am not ready to entertain. I still have a long life to live. Drama, drama, drama. Hacking might be my comfort place, but getting involved in other people's messes isn't one thing I was interested in but that's e

Luca's POV The warehouse was quiet, the silence only broke by the occasional dripping of water from a leaking pipe. The stench of blood and gunpowder lingered in the air, mixed with the cigarette smoke coming from me. This was the third place I was clearing today since I was in a very bad mood. “Fuck it…” I cursed, gritting my teeth. They've been unable to get nothing out of him and put of the information given by Astrid, we still needed his speaking in order to execute a plan. I moved from the spot I was in, walking over the dead bodies laying on the floor. I've been in this business long enough to know I had to get my hands dirty if I wanted victory and I can't deny that I love the taste of it. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I pulled it out with my gaze locking on the caller's ID. It was encrypted and I knew I haven't come across it before. “Luca.” The voice on the other side was smooth, almost too smooth for my liking. “It's been a long time.”I didn't bother with pleasantri

Luca's POV I didn't know what was going on with me but she strangely looked so sweet and beautiful and it would be a lie if I said I wasn't interested in having her again right now. Even though the first time I ajd her was under the drug's influence, I couldn't forget her body still. One reason I hated being drunk was the fact that I was always honest whenever I'm drunk. More like my emotions and body was always honest unlike the real me. Without thinking, I walked over to her and she took a step back till her back was against the wall. I could see the frustration on her face as she did but I didn't care. I lifted her chin slightly making her look up at me. This woman was doing something to my body and I didn't know why it made me feel more strange than the way other ladies who approached me made me feel. Her sweet scent of honey and milk made me want to suck on her skin. “W-why are you here?” She stuttered, trying to keep a straight face but her rapid breathing and the redness o

Luca's POV I stood in front of the window glancing down at the city. My city. The city was built with blood bricks and through the death of thousands. It was the first city I subdued and although I was feared, they couldn't deny the fact that the city was safer since I became the head of this territory. It was one of my largest territory and the more the territory of each family, the more they are respected and the more their family is. No one wants to mess with a large, strong and powerful family, but there are some people who messes with them still. I turned to pour myself a drink and that was when I remembered what happened the last time I was drunk. Alcohol had never been a comfort for me, but it helped dull the edges of my thoughts. The thoughts of betrayal and people who had gotten so close to me to betray me and take the consequences. It haunted me every day. I wasn't able to think on it quick as my phone started to buzz. I set the glass down and picked up the phone. It was

Astrid's POV I stared at the bag on my bed, my fingers twisting the straps as I tried to gather my thoughts. I've started to grow accustomed to the safehouse and now I have to move into the lion's den known as Luca's penthouse just because of that motherfucking bastard. I don't know if Luca knew I had any connections with him but that was the least thing I wanted him to know before looking for my family. I feel back for wanting to use him, but he wouldn't care about it since he was equally using me. He was strong enough to counter anything that attacks him since he's Luca Santoro. I zipped my bag with a sharp tug. It was the only one I had with me since he didn't get me much cloth after whisking me here. I had to do everything he wanted if I wanted my wish to come true also. The door to the safehouse creaked open, and one of Luca's men was standing there, his face blank as a mask. “The car is ready.” He said, as if announcing the time. “Let's get this over with.” I murmured, bru

Luca's POV I watched her reflection in the mirror with a slight smile on my face. She stared at herself, patting her flushed red cheeks like it would make it go away and I just wanted to chuckle, but it will catch her attention. It was so cute watching her trying to keep up the stringe facade before me. I noticed the way her breath hitched when I got close to her. The way she refused to back down even when she had no way out of it– it was almost amusing to me. If only she knew how amusing she was to me by trying so hard to keep up her feisty facade. I pushed aside the amusement, reminding myself she was only here for my business and to be my pawn for now. Not a sacrificial pawn, but one I would personally nurture no matter what they try. I moved to the study, deliberately shutting the door behind me with a snap. The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from the desk lamp, casting long shadows along the polished wood. I loved it that way– dark and controlled. I sat at the des

Their head, Halo Oscuro, had been seeking an audience with me for months and his intentions weren't a secret to. At least his main goal, and that was to make me join their organization. I had ignored him, and suspended my response while I focused on my affairs. But now, the perfect time had finally come to answer his call. Not because I needed an alliance, but I needed those to have wrapped around my finger and Julian had made it easier for me alongside Astrid's details on she got form the Ivano family about El Sombra. “It's time.” I said, my voice cold and unyielding. I had no reason to fake my emotions because it really needed me to be cold and unyielding to see this through. Nico, my man after Vincent, who was standing

Astrid's POV The sound of the keyboard and the candy twirling in my tongue was the only thing breaking the silence in this huge penthouse. My fingers flew across the keys, tapping out code faster than anyone could type and my brain could comprehend it all at the same time. If there was one thing I was dearly in love with, that was coding and hacking. There was no drama, no stress, no ghost from the past, no mafia war– just numbers, codes and puzzles to solve and sometimes, pieces to move which was more intriguing than any out in the world experience. Luca had been gone for days, off on some whatever mafia business it was. I knew I couldn't die so I wasn't a tad bit worried about him, although the penthouse felt emptier than I would have loved. Although it gave me time to focus and immerse myself in the work he had given me. With a sigh, I leaned back in the sofa where I was seated, rubbing my eyes. I have been staring at the screen for hours and my brain is starting to feel fried.

Astrid's POV The evening of the ball had come and all of sudden, I began to develop cold feet about stepping outside with the way I looked. As I stared continually into the room, I could not recognise who was staring back at me. I had never looked so beautiful and elegant in all my years. "I'm just going to add some finishing touches to your make-up before you leave." The head of the women who had been in charge of my preparation broke through my thoughts. The other three women stood behind me, joining me to admire myself—perharps they were drooling over the woman they had transformed me into. I don't think I needed any more make-up, I could barely even recognise myself. My hair had been tightly packed into a bun which aligned the features of my face more vividly. And who still used glitter for make-up in this age, because I could see a small amount of it on both sides of my cheeks. "She looks really beautiful...." The first woman said. "I tell you, she is going to capture the

Astrid's POV I waited patiently until they all had left the dining table. None of them had eaten even up to half a morsel from their plates—not to mention requesting for more. I looked around me—the only people left were the maids who looked like they were ready to clear the table and were waiting for me to follow suit by leaving. I would have broken out in a loud laughter at the look on their faces. Did they think that I was going to abandon this food and go to bed hungry? I had not had anything as good as this food in years, and I was bound on devouring the whole thing from my plate before I took a step from this place. "If you want more miss, I can dish some more out for you!" The maid behind me said in a warm tone. She didn't look like she was mocking me or anything and genuinely looked like she was ready to dish more food for me. I couldn't say no to a request like this. I shamelessly smiled at her, revealing the food stuck in between my teeth and nodded my head in approval

Astrid's POV How dare Luca leave me alone with his family, what the hell was he thinking?!All my efforts to avoid his family had been in vain and for some reason, I kept winding up with his sisters even when he told me that the probability of running into any of his family members when I was on a tour in the house was close to zero. Had Luca lied to me or did his sisters just loved to snoop around the room at every chance that they got? I couldn't have had the energy to restrain the urge to want to look around the house and When Luca told me that it was okay for me to look around the house but with the aid of the butler, I had jumped at the chance. And now it felt like I was trapped in a maze with no way of getting out. With shaky fingers, I reached for the glass of wine in front of me and gulped down the whole content. And I regretted it almost immediately. I held myself back from slapping myself across the forehead when all of Luca's family turned to look at me. They were se

Luca's POV The one thing I hated the most was being interrupted, especially when I was almost on the middle of moving into another dimension with Astrid. I wiped my hand across my face trying to hide the irritation making its way to my face as I turned to face my sister. I knew she was the one from the way she kicked the door open, only she had the audacity to kick my door open even after I had warned her countless times not to do so. "Have you suddenly forgotten the art of knocking?!" I asked her, placing both hands on my hips. She didn't seem to mind the fact that I was pissed that she had forced her way into my room when I had told her several times to act like that lady like she was and knock on the door before I decided of to open the door to her not. And instead, her attention was on Astrid who seemed to cower under her gaze. "Father ask that you have dinner with him!" She finally said but not without folding her arms at me. I knew that she was ready to ask who Astrid was

The subtle murmurs, the slight gazes was the least way i thought I would be welcomed by Lucas's family. Why the hell did he not tell me anything about his family before bringing me down here?! "Astrid, what are you still standing for there, come let's go inside. Or don't you need some rest?" Luca's voice jolted me out of my thoughts. I swallowed as I made my way past the pair of eyes that stayed glued to my body. I could hear their side talks but I chose to ignore them. I couldn't bare to look at me—i would be drowned in the scornful pool of their gazes. I felt I didn't belong here or rather, they made me feel like I didn't belong here. The youngest women among them stared down at my dress and my shoes with a look in the eyes that I couldn't discern if it was irritation or surprise. Now I wished that I had taken my time to dress up like I belonged to their class. I wanted to scream it out to them that I had better clothes and shoes than this. Luca's POV My legs were already killing me from having to sit down behind the wheels for almost twenty hours without stopping. Getting down from the car felt like I had forgotten the art of walking. I looked over at Astrid who had found her way to the rear of the car, signaling to me to open up the boot for her so she can take out her things. "Hold on, Astrid!" I said to her, trying to conceal my tired smile as I reached into the car to unlock the boot of the car. "It's open now, Astrid, do you wanr to come take your things out for you?" I asked her. "No, I can handle my things by myself." Astrid replied with a grunt and the next thing I heard was a loud thud on the ground. Astrid had fallen one of the luggages on the ground. I rolled my eyes into the back of my head before made my way toward her. "I asked if I could help!" Was the only thing that I said before I grabbed the luggage she was struggling to lift from the floor. With the way she acted, I knew that she wanted to get

I couldn't deny the fact that I was equally nervous that I was going to meet Luca's family....for the first time. What are they going to think of me. I hoped I'd be able to impress them by the time I got there. The smile on my face vanished immediately I caught myself smiling. What was I even getting excited about, I was supposed to be pissed that Luca had asked that I start getting myself prepared for an impromptu trip and here I was, smiling to myself like a five year old child who had just been asked to get prepared to go to Disney world. Well this wasn't the first time that Luca had asked me to get ready for an impromptu trip but I was still getting quite used to it. I texted him back to assure him that I would be leaving first thing tomorrow morning and I'll definitely arrive before dusk tomorrow. I had already calculated the distance from my territory to my father's and it would take quite a long drive before I get there and besides, I hadn't started packing up yet. I was about to get back to business when I heard another notification. It was the butler suggesting that I leave today. "You know what, I'm just going to call my father and tell him that I won't be able to make it out today!" I said slowly while I typed down onto my phone. He replied instantly; "please sire, your father is extremely busy and I'd suggest that you follow his instructions and leave today.""Extremely busy, oh really now, even for his own son." I rolled my eyes into the back of my head and set the phone down, leaving

Astrid's POV I guess the alcohol had started to kick in already at this point because the only thing I could think about was Luca taking me to my climax. When I was supposed to be mad at him for leaving me for so long, all I could think about now was pleasing Luca and making him get the same sensation I was having down there. "Spread your legs wider for me!" Luca instructed before he crashed his lips against mine. I did as he said while my tongue did a little dance with his inside his mouth. I felt Luca thrust in deeply into me, ascending a peak I had never attained. I moaned against his lips while he continued thrusting deep inside of me. I couldn't hold my legs up any longer and wrapped it around it his waist instead while he sent me forth to paradise and back. "Fuck, Luca...." I screamed out his name at the top of my lungs when I felt my walls climaxing. I sank my fingers into his back and raised my hip toward him while my eyes were rolled inside my head with pleasure.
