Marianna
The deafening sound from the gun had me wondering who was shot again. I swiftly turned around and I saw my father, still standing with the gun pointed at Alceo. He had fallen with his back to my father's feet.I raced down from the step, in twos, trying to get to the last landing quickly."Nooooo, Al," I shouted on top of my voice, running towards him, not caring about the commotion that was happening at that point.I reached his body and met the beautiful blue eyes that I had always fallen in love with, sealed shut."Al, please don't do this to me. I love you, please wake up. I believe everything you say," I took his face in my hand and immersed my pajamas in a pool of his blood. At intervals, I kept tapping his face, pleading with him to wake up.I zoned out from the room, my tears made a huge mess on Alceo's face, the flying bullets and gunshots made no difference to me. I buried my face in his body and sobbed loudly, begging him to wake up if it was a dream. In less than 48 hours, the only man I had wanted to spend my life with was lying dead on my lap. A pair of hands grabbed me from where I sat, I struggled with whoever was carrying me, begging them to let me die with my lover. The person hid us behind the couch, talking in hushed tones."Marianna, get out of your reverie. We need to get out of here, it's becoming messy," Javier held me tightly, his shirt was stained with blood. I looked at where my father once occupied and saw it empty.Santo Del Vecchio was lying on the floor with a bullet to his skull, same as Isiak Romanov. The man who Alceo had called his brother was still busy shooting at my father's guards blindly, with rage in every shot he was firing.Javier made reference to him. "That man would kill you Marianna, he wouldn't care if you are in love with his brother. To him, you are the enemy, the enemy's daughter, nothing more."His words sounded like the truth, it was convincing. I hiccuped and looked at him, clamping his hands together in mine."Please, let's take Alceo with us. He's not dead yet.""Marianna, I need you to accept your losses and move on. Alceo is gone," he stated more firmly and I bursted into another set of tears.More of our reinforcement came in through the back door and we escaped through the kitchen door. That way it led us to the exit and Javier threw me over the fence with the help of a few guards. He did the same and I noticed that he had prepared a car for us to escape. As soon as he started the car, speeding through the front of the house, Alceo's brother rushed out with Alceo's in his arms, covered in blood. The last look I registered on his face was nothing compared to the hate he harbored for our family."This was all my fault," I palmed my face in my hands, sobbing repeatedly and tapping my feet in disorganized intervals.Javier refused to say a word and stepped on the gas, driving to God knows where."Where are we going Javier?" I finally summoned every courage in me and asked."To a place where no one knows, for the meantime until everything settles.""We can't just leave my father's body there. The Russians would find a way to pick their dead bodies and bury them."At the mention of dead bodies, my heart clenched tightly, knowing that I was referring to Al as a dead body too."I'll notify the house to help us figure that part out. You can't go back, Marianna. They would always seek your head in return and besides you need to understand the fact that you are now a married woman. Married to me."His pupil dilated and the tone of his voice was not the normal Javier that I know. It felt like he was in control of me, dominating and cold."What does that even mean?" I asked. "This marriage was all my father's choice, not mine. Once we are done with all this mess, I'm getting a divorce.""We'll see about that, spoilt little brat," he said, eyeing me and leaving me widen my eyes and my jaw."You better mind the language you use on me," I fired back, trying to be fierce but instead my voice came out shaking like a lost puppy. After a long ride, he swerved the car to a lonely road path, trailing the road down. My heart kept skipping beats, various questions logged into my head. Was he going to kill me? Oh dear father, what grave mistake you have made. After what seemed like forever, he parked in front of a bungalow and helped himself down.He came to my side of the door and grabbed my arm painfully, making me let out a painful cry."You are hurting me Javier," he refused to say a word and just kept shoving me forward. The door to the house opened and he pushed me to the wooden floor.By now I was scared for my life, no one knew where I was or what was going on and Javier didn't exactly behave like the gentle guy who came to pick a wife or the caring Javier who helped me out of the house."What's going on Javier? Please talk to me," I had to make enquiries on his new manic behavior."Right now you are my prisoner and everything Santo Del Vecchio once owned will be mine, including his beautiful prized daughter," I saw the look of lust in his eyes as his eyes roamed my body."Santo always behaved like he was the most powerful, the only one who couldn't be touched. All we needed was a weakness and even you wasn't his weakness. I had men put on you and it didn't take so much time for them to find your affair. All we didn't know was that he was a Russian. I could have crippled your father with it at that point," he said, threateningly."And how is that my problem? My father was the one you had issues with, please face him."As soon as the words flew out of my mouth, he stepped in my space and gave me a slap."You are mine forever Marianna, no one is coming to save you. It's just me here," he reclined to my level and stared into my eyes.I knew for sure that I was in trouble with a deranged person.MariannaIt's been a long time since the whole saga happened and I had no idea how much time had flown by. Javier kept me in the basement, locking me up like a prisoner. He called me his prisoner, he wasn't exactly lying about that. The basement lid might not open for days and sometimes I was grateful for that. Grateful that I had the peace to myself, even though I starved badly most times. His abusive nature was one I could never deal with, I would have killed him if we ever lived together. I had to mind my words around him, knowing how angry he got the last time I asked for a better type of food.I had lost a reasonable amount of weight. My glowing beautiful skin had become dull, it cracked and drew white lines anytime I itched my body.Javier had been merry-go-rounding all over the house. Sometimes, I could hear the voices of him and someone else, a lady to be precise, making out.I was restricted to the basement, chained at the feet and one hand. My dry skin was filled with bruises
Javier It's been a few days since I went to check up on Maria. The house has been doing a lot of work for the past few months, cleaning up the entire mess the Russians created and making sure the police are not involved. Knowing how much I desired Santo's position, if they ever found out that Maria was still alive, they'd never transfer the properties to me. She had been throwing up lately and lost a lot of weight. Her beautiful face now drooped, her glowing skin faded. The only thing she does to me now irritates me. Deciding to find out why she was throwing up so much lately, I drew a portion of her blood without her knowledge. Taking it to the lab, it was confirmed that she was pregnant. I could feel myself tear into 2 mentally and emotionally. Not now that I sought a greater purpose, a child is coming into the picture. The child of the enemy at that. Determined to clear anyone who stood in my way, I made up my mind to kill that thing sprouting inside her. I found my way home a
Javier Wearing an apron and gloves, I held Marianna's customized bracelet in my right hand, standing with Lanco over the dead girl's body. My face ruffled up on its own, Lanco shouldn't be among the living, he was a brutal man. The dead girl's face was beyond recognizable, while her dark hair fell back in the tub, few bruises and cuts were logged on both sides of her arms. He turned to look at me, pausing the things he was doing. His yellow unarranged teeths flashing at me, saying hi. "Do you want to know how she was killed?" "No I do not want to know," I snapped. He wasn't even reading the room, I wasn't interested in knowing. Even though my conscience pricked me a lot, I assured myself that I was sacrificing for my goal. "You are no fun," he said, stretching his bloodied hands out for me. "The bracelet." Passing it to him, he wore it carefully on her. "Done," he smiled, looking satisfied like a child who had just been given candy. Taking a final look at her, I didn't even know
Javier The entire house went still for a moment, it felt like I could see what they were thinking. It was a sad period for them, not me. "That is a very heavy accusation on the Russians. They are our rivals doesn't mean that every Italian being killed is from the Russians," my father said. My anger boiled from the depths of my stomach, he was supposed to be supporting me but he had the guts to be putting out a word of hope for the Russians. "Dear father," I bowed. "Before Santo was killed by the Russians, we knew that Marianna was in an affair with the son of the Russian leader, Alceo Romanov. I think her death was a form of revenge knowing that Alceo was killed that day too." I muttered a prayer under my breath that all my explanations would be bought. "Since we all know that the late Santo Del Vecchio wedded you to his daughter before she died, it is your turn to sit on the chair," the forefather said after a long silence. "The Del Vecchios properties will be transferred to yo
Marianna I lowered the food from my hand and looked at the intent burning gaze he offered me. It wasn't flinching and I wasn't in any mood to cower at that point. Anger replaced the blood flowing through my body, coursed through my veins. What had he gone to do? That was the only question that was running through my head. The fear I felt was replaced by the instinct of survival, I just needed to find a way to get out. Get out of this hellhole. "What exactly did you do, Javier?" I asked, waiting for him to tell me the exact stunt he pulled at the house. No one was just going to give my father's seat away, without knowing my whereabouts. "So simple, Maria," he relaxed back. "I gave evidence to the house that you are dead. Knowing that I'm your husband, they didn't dispute me at all." Disappointed at the entire house, most especially the forefather, I dropped my head. "No one asked for any sort of test for the body you showed to them, to confirm that it was really me?" "Let's
MariannaThere hasn't been much difference lately, except the fact that I could feel my tummy getting bigger and bigger. Afterall he wasn't lying about me being pregnant. He has been in the house for a while now, he barely goes to the house meetings and every time, I can hear him bark out orders to them. He treats them like they are all trash, even his own father, I assume. He barely comes down to give me food, my entire body reeks of dirt and smell and bruises. Bruises of different sizes and shapes, I had gotten accustomed to the way he treats me. I only made sure to keep my tummy away from his view, that was my main priority.I was biding my time carefully, anything worth doing, is worth doing well. That was my solace, my comfort and the fact that I had Al's life in me was enough to give me all the strength and motivation that I needed. As I laid in the dark, on the cold floor, my eyes caught an unusual sight. A thin beam of light, trying to force its way into the perpetual darkness
MariannaClose to 10 minutes of waiting, my patience level was really reducing and my fear adrenaline was settling in little by little. If he woke up before I could leave the area, then I'm successfully dead. Without thinking too much, I started walking along the lonely path. Maintaining a safe distance at the edge of the road, everywhere was filled with thick tall trees and I questioned myself if any car would ever pass here.I wrapped the shirt around my body before the morning dew turned me into an iceman. My legs were beginning to bleed, they were against the hard asphalt of the road.Seeing 2 crossroads, I tried remembering the route he took the last time he came to drop me off. Deciding to go with my instinct, I turned to the one on my right and continued walking. This time my steps were sharp and fast, the eerie feeling I got was unsettling. As I walked a bit longer from my kidnapper, a car stopped beside me and wound down its glass. Thinking it was Javier, without looking bac
JavierMy eyes slowly opened, with my brain instantly notifying me of the lingering pain, both inside my head and also on the surface of my skin.I sat up slowly, with my hand supporting the base of my head. The pain took that as a cue and became more intense, I was still so disorganized.I brought my wristwatch to my face and saw that I had been unconscious for over an hour.Shit, I cursed. Springing up, irrespective of the pain, I ran to the basement and confirmed my fears.Marianna is out of my grip, she finally escaped after months of being a captive. This wasn't looking good, she mustn't be spotted outside by anybody but then where could she go? She had no real friends in reality, both in school or at home. My head started working twice its normal speed, I need to have her back. If any of the elders or the family spotted her, I don't know what would become of my reputation and my position.First of all, in order to be able to think clearly, I reached out for the first aid box pl
