The last paragraph of this chapter represents hope and trust in the almighty when all the doors are closed. This chapter is dedicated to all corona warriors, who risked their lives to save us. Let’s keep fighting this invisible enemy because no matter how much it rains, the sun always comes shining through :)
Dylan filed a complaint against Jake for sexual harassment, threatening, and attempt to murder, and proudly stepped out of the police station. He took a deep breath in the fresh air. “Finally, my Diana got justice.” He muttered with a huge, satisfying smile on his face. He was about to open the door of his car when a voice interrupted him. “How will you ever going to forgive yourself?” Sean asked, and Dylan turned to look at him. “Excuse me?” Dylan furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “What do you mean?” “Let me rephrase my words. How will you ever going to forgive yourself for the death of an unborn baby?” Sean stated every word clearly. Dylan was still confused at his question and he scratched the side of his left eyebrow with his thumb, “What do you mean, officer?” He asked. “I guess you haven’t seen the news yet. Let me help you.” Sean said and retrieved his mobile phone from his pant pocket and handed it to him. Dylan looked suspiciously at him while taking the mobile from him
“Come out, Jake.” A cop said, and Jake meekly followed him, leaving his dorm. The cop opened the meeting room for him, and Jake was completely surprised to find Christian waiting for him. “You have twenty minutes for this meeting.” The cop said and left them alone. Christian gestured him to sit and Jake took the seat opposite him. Christian was staring at his face with pity in his eyes. Jake’s state left him speechless, and he momentarily forgot his purpose to visit him. “You shouldn’t have killed Uncle Dan,” He said and Jake looked at him, pursing his lips in a straight line. “I had no option,” He answered. “If I hadn’t done that, he would have probably ruined more lives for his wicked intention. I gave him three chances, but he chose death for himself.” He said, wiping tears from the corner of his eyes. “Anyway, it’s all done and dusted now.” He smiled sadly. “How’s mom? She must be hating me right now.” He asked about Berry, and Christian cleared his throat before breaking the n
Ten Days Later, Christian’s cabin burst open, and Danny walked inside, seething in anger. “What the fuck, dude? Where are you from the last ten days?” He growled while Christian looked at him calmly. “Holiday,” He answered. “What!! Are you seriously out of your mind?” Danny asked, widening his eyes. “I needed some time to process things,” Christian answered, but Danny cut him off. “And you found ‘escape’ the safest option.” Danny asked, “Is this the right way to deal with your grief?” “What do you want me to do? Go to the hospital and watch her in a deep sleep with a bruised face. A Big No!! I will not go and I certainly don’t care what people, paparazzi, or my family think about me.” Danny huffed and sat across from him. “What is going on, Christian? Why are you not going back home? Why are you working your ass off like it’s your last day on this planet? Everyone is more worried about you than Mishka and Eric. What’s his fault in all this?” “Few things needed my attention. Don
Late at night, when Christian reached home, he found Eric in Mrs Walton’s arms and she was trying to feed him. She watched Christian taking steps in her direction, and gave him a disgusted look. But Eric was thrilled to see his daddy after ten days. “Dada!!” He said in his babyish voice and opened his arms for him. Christian took him in his arms, showering him with kisses, and Eric giggled in response. “Did you miss, daddy?” Christian tickled him. “The entire family was missing you.” Mrs Walton made a sarcastic comment, but Christian ignored it “I am so sorry, champ. Dada ignored you!” He said, kissing his cheeks again, and started walking upstairs with Eric. The servant informed Leo about Christian’s arrival, and he quickly left the hospital for Knight mansion. He was boiling in anger and ascended upstairs towards his room. He knocked, but no one responded. He knocked again and then lightly opened his door, only to find him sleeping peacefully with Eric resting on his chest. He
Next Morning, Christian woke up first and tiptoed towards the washroom without disturbing Eric’s sleep. He was brushing his teeth when he heard a faint knock on his closed door. He walked out of the washroom, wiping his face with a towel, and silently opened the door, only to be slapped by Leo. Christian stumbled with the impact and confused, but before he could say something, Leo held him by the collar and dragged him out of the room. “What is wrong with y..” Before Christian could complete, Leo slapped him again. “Are you getting back with Lia?” Leo thundered, and Christian narrowed his eyes with a crease on his forehead. “What was she doing in the office yesterday?” “She just came….” Before Christian could complete his sentence, Leo interrupted again. “Are you cheating on Mishka?” Leo hollered and held him by the collar again. “You are not visiting her and romancing your ex-girlfriend in your office. You are pathetic!” Leo screeched and Rony, Rose, and Luke reached there. “Gra
Eric slept in Mishka’s arms and she carefully placed him on the bed while Christian was staring at her all the time and she blushed under his constant gaze. “Why doctor Ken didn’t inform me you are awake?” Christian asked. “I asked him not to inform you. Uncle Luke and I wanted to give you a surprise.” Mishka smiled.a “And since when you are awake?” Christian questioned. Flashback An evening before Christmas eve, “How is Christian?” Dr Ken asked Luke, who visited him to take Vera’s reports. “Bad… terrible. But I am glad that he isn’t following in his father’s footsteps. I behaved badly with him when Vera paralyzed.” Luke grieved. “I distanced myself from Christian after Vera’s suicide attempt. I couldn’t face my baby after what I did to his mother. But he is taking care of Eric and I am proud of him!!” “I just don’t understand why he isn’t ready to see his wife once,” Luke said, and Dr Ken smiled sadly. He was about to say something when the door of his cabin burst open and the
Daniel was decorating the giant Christmas tree with the help of the servants. He sat on the floor near the tree and was puzzled, holding two different sizes of socks, not sure what to ask Santa this year. “Hey, Baby! What are you doing?” Rose asked, ruffling his soft hair, and sat beside him on the floor. “Oh, my god!! You have decorated the Christmas tree beautifully.” She looked at the dazzling Christmas tree with wide eyes, but Daniel didn’t respond. “What happened, Daniel?” Her eyes snapped back to his son, who wasn’t looking happy at all. “Mom, I really miss Mishka. When will she come back to us?” Innocent Daniel asked Rose and her face dropped. “I don’t feel like celebrating Christmas without her,” Daniel pouted. “Son, you still miss her so much,” She asked stroking his cheek. “Of course, mom! True love never dies.” He muttered and Rose chuckled. “Anyway, I want bigger socks this year. My wish won’t fit in this.” He turned to Rose, showing both the socks. “Big socks? How bi
Leo seethed in pure anger when he spotted Lia at the party. Pasha appeared beside him with two glasses of wine. “Here,” Pasha said, offering him a glass, but Leo’s eyes were pinned on Lia, who was talking with one of his guests. Pasha followed his gaze and Lia came into his view, halting his movement for the briefest of the second as he remembered that some of his sources informed him about Christian and Lia being spotted together several times together in the past one month. “Who invited this silicon-filled Barbie doll?” Leo screeched, and Pasha turned to him. “Lower your voice, Leo!” Pasha whispered. “This boy leaves no chance to prove that he is Luke’s son. Both father and son leave no stone unturned to destroy their lives. Upbringing certainly can beat the blood running in the veins.” Leo spoke, but Pasha gave him a disapproving look. “Stop comparing Christian to Luke. This is wrong, Leo. If you don’t trust Christian, at least trust your upbringing, and if we are talking about
Christian Knight was about to marry Andrea Donovan and start a fresh life. Andrea was a gorgeous, kind, and respectable woman. Christian took furious steps back inside the office premises and Ana tried to speak to him again, “Not now, Ana!” He said sternly, so done with all the drama, and rushed to the elevator. But something caught his eyes, and his heart skipped a beat. His steps halted as he swiftly turned to look at the pair of silver heels lying leisurely near the reception. He furrowed his brows and recognised it as he recalled Mishka wearing the same in the morning. “Where is Mishka?” He almost shouted, his voice echoed, and his eyes peered at Ana for an answer.“She was here but left…. After…” Ana stuttered.“What after?” Christian asked, fearing the worst. “Damn it, say!!”“She left when she spotted Lia with you in the conference room,” Ana revealed, and Christian’s face lost all colour, and for a split of seconds, he couldn’t process anything.“Why didn’t I know she was here?” He looked for an explanation.“She came to give you a surprise,” The receptionist said and Christian’s eyes darken. He took a
Mishka walked into the building of Knight Group, and the staff politely greeted her. She reached the reception, holding the file of good news close to her heart, and asked. “Where is Christian?” “Sir is at an important conference. Let me inform him,” The receptionist said, but Mishka stopped her. “No, it’s alright. I’ll wait for him in the cabin.” She said and turned to the elevator when she slightly tripped on her heels and a look of horror washed over her face. “Are you alright, ma’am?” The receptionist quickly came forward to help. “Yeah! I’m fine.” Mishka said and quickly removed her heels while the receptionist looked at her weirdly. She left her heels near the reception and walked barefoot towards the elevator. All the while, she was humming a song. The lift opened on the fiftieth floor, and Ana approached her. “Good Evening, Ma’am. Please, this way!” She escorted her to Christian’s cabin. “Would you like to have something? Sir will be free in half an hour,” Ana said. “No,
“What??” Luke screeched loudly. “Yes, she had a severe seizure this early morning, and it was hard to control her. We have given her an injection. She will sleep at least sleep for the next five hours. But this is weird and dangerous. Just yesterday, everything was fine. I don’t understand how everything took a sudden flip.” Dr Ken stated, rubbing his stubble while Luke was heartbroken on the other side. “Please tell me, she is going to be fine,” Luke choked on his words. “It’s not possible to predict anything right now. It appears that she is in major trauma. We don’t know how it’s going to affect her improvement.” Dr Ken said, and Luke could literally hear his heart pounding inside his chest. “Sadly, seizures slow the improvement process,” “What’s happening with us?” Luke wondered as he disconnected the call, and looked at Vera and his wedding picture, remembering the time they spent happily. “Don’t torture me more, Vera.” His thumb traced Vera’s picture as he mumbled helplessly
Jennifer rolled her eyes, “Come on, Lia!! Why do you think she didn’t recognise you?” She asked with a sinister smirk on her face while Lia stared at her blankly. “Because she actually doesn’t know about you and Christian.” The realisation hit Lia. “But why would Christian hide this?” She muttered, unable to think straight. “Because he is going to dump her in the next few days. I don’t see any other reason.” Jennifer said. “Right, maybe because she is mentally unstable. I accidentally bumped into her at Dr. James’s clinic.” Lia started connecting dots. “You’re absolutely correct. She is mentally unstable, plus their contract marriage is expiring soon. But what were you doing at the clinic?” Jennifer questioned. “I went to collect my mother’s reports,” Lia answered. “I thought to ask Dr. James about her but then dropped the idea as I was sure he won’t share her confidential information. He was updating me about my mother’s health when he got a call from someone and he said Mishka i
Weeks spent peacefully. Christian was overjoyed when he learned Mishka was editing Scarlet’s upcoming book. He was excited to read the manuscript, and it was hard for Mishka to keep his hands away from her laptop that held all the secrets. Little Eric also joined preschool and was extremely happy to find kids of his age to play with. Mishka was slowly coming back to her original form, but her relationship with Rose was still strained as the latter was maintaining a gap with her. Daniel, too, was a little hesitant around Mishka, and she somehow realised it and stopped going to the Knight mansion. Leo was unhappy again. He wanted Mishka close to him, in his mansion, but Christian was stubborn about living in the apartment. “You have got an appointment with James!” Christian reminded Mishka while wearing a silk blue tie. “I remember. I’ll drop Eric at school and then head to his clinic.” She said and turned to Eric, “It’s bathing time, come on,” She said, but Eric ran away and made Mis
Christian was sleeping peacefully. His hand roamed on the left side of the bed and he slowly opened his eyes. He jerked up and looked around, only to find Mishka standing in front of the dresser. She was wearing a white top with charcoal black skinny fit jeans, her long dark brown wavy hair open reaching her waist and she wore diamond earrings while humming a song. “What are you doing?” Christian asked, eyeing her actions. She turned and smiled at him. “Oh, you are up. I am going to Snowdrop Publication. I’ve got an appointment with Warren Thomson.” She said with a broad smile on her face and walked toward him. “I met Dr James yesterday. He said I should keep myself engaged. That’s why I’ve decided to resume my editing job.” She said, sitting beside him on the bed. “Are you out of your mind? After what happened yesterday, you think…” Before Christian could complete it, Mishka interrupted him. “What happened?” She asked, cluelessly, and Christian furrowed his brows. “You don’t re
“My wife, Mishka, met you this morning. What’s exactly wrong with her?” Christian asked, and Dr James took a sip of his drink. “She is suffering from melancholic depression.” Dr James states and Christian’s heart skipped a beat. FLASHBACK “Send the next patient in,” Dr James asked the nurse, who was waiting for his instruction. The door of the cabin opened again and Mishka stepped in. “Please take a seat,” Dr James said while writing something on his writing pad. Mishka settled on the seat opposite him and gulped nervously. She didn’t know how to explain. If this was some physical injury, she could’ve described it, but what to describe when she doesn’t know what she was suffering from? Mishka continuously tapped her fingers on the desk and James noticed, “Relax, Mrs Knight!” He said and lifted his eyes to look at her anxious face. Mishka’s fingers stopped tapping as she smiled, but she was creeping out from inside. “I think I should come next time, sorry for wasting your time,” S
Christian sat inside his car and slammed his hand on the steering wheel. “I never listened to anyone’s suggestions before taking any decision. I always did what I wanted to do. Then why the fuck I agreed with Danny’s idea when he stopped me from telling the truth of the contract marriage to Mishka? Just Why?” He pulled his hair in frustration. “I have to tell Mishka about Lia. I won’t give any chance to Lia to destroy anything.” He said to himself. “But what if the revelation negatively affects her health?” This question haunted him. “No... No, she will be fine! I’ll make sure this doesn’t affect her, but now I have to disclose the truth even if it creates a rift between us,” He thought when a message from Luke flashed on his screen. “Can you come with Eric and Mishka? Vera wants to see them.” “Sure, we’ll be there in an hour or so,” Christian answered and started the engine of his car when it started raining heavily. He had an unsettling feeling about something is not right. His
