Although Rafael didn't start a conversation, I was content to run and play around with him silently in my wolf form. His wolf was playful and just as energetic as mine.

I knew Saskia was hyper because she finally got to be so close with her mate. With the tension between us this last week, this was much needed. Although I still felt a little sad that Rafael himself didn't want to have anything to do with me.

Which was probably why he hasn't even said a word to me since we ran off into the forest. But on the good side, his wolf was amiable. Then we laid by the shore of the lake, Saskia rubbing against him indulgently and purring out of satisfaction when this faint acrid scent wafted past my nose.

At first, I ignored it but then, there came the loud noise of sticks snapping as the trees swayed in the cool night breeze.

The moon hung low in the sky, suddenly casting an eerie glow over the dense forest and as if Saskia could see something, she whined.
