CHAPTER SIX: DOES HE LOVE ME?

Celeste had hot coffee in her hands, covered in a huge blanket, while Jake sat next to her fully clothed. They sat on Dahlia's porch stairs conversing. Dahlia stood behind the door, eavesdropping.

"Just two days and I already miss you" Celeste said giving out a chuckle.

"Thank you, if you hadn't interrupted I would have killed her" Jake said holding her palms.

"You don't need to thank me really.....so, how's your life here?"

"Dahlia's helping me figure things out"

"It was a bad idea to let you live eighteen years of your life in the woods" Celeste said and they both agreed to it. There was a moment of silence then Jake spoke.

"How's Nathaniel?" He asked. Celeste was quite surprised that he would even ask of someone who was supposed to be his foe now. She told him that he led the pack well and that she was his beta. Jake smiled and congratulated her joking about Celeste beating him was as a result of her higher ranking. Celeste then proclaimed that even if she was an Omega and he was an alpha, she would still beat him in battle. They both laughed it off.

"What about that guy?" Jake asked Celeste and immediately her expression changed.

"I'm still trying to forget about him" Celeste said. There was a momentary silence then Celeste got up from the staircase and decided to go back to the pack. Dahlia came outside to see her off.

"Thank you, Celeste" Dahlia stuttered.

"And thank you, for taking care of Jake for me" Celeste said. She went over to Jake and gave him a light kiss on his cheeks. She returned the blanket to Dahlia and was naked. She bid Jake farewell and turned into a wolf heading for the woods.

Jake and Dahlia went inside their bedroom. He asked of Sky and Jade. She told him that Sky was fine and that she didn't notice a thing. She also said that Jade had terrible injuries on her leg but she healed her in her unconsciousness. But there will surely be a mark left. They just had to make sure she wouldn't get all suspicious.

They laid down on the bed with Jake's face facing Dahlia's toes and vice versa.

"Celeste really loves you" Dahlia said.

"Yeah" Jake said

"You must be really lucky to have someone like her" Dahlia said and Jake admitted to it. Soon, they had fallen asleep.

Celeste wore her clothes after turning human again. As she wore them Nathaniel held her by the throat and forcefully leaned her against a tree.

"Where are you coming from Celeste?" Nathaniel asked angrily.

"Get your fucking hands off me" Celeste demanded while struggling to speak.

"That's no way to talk to your Alpha" Nathaniel proposed as he held her throat with a very firm grip. She was struggling to breathe then Nathaniel let her go. She began panting and gasping for air.

"Let me guess, you went to see that rogue" Nathaniel said in disgust.

"He's your best friend's son!" Celeste said in anger.

"Alaric was a fool, it was his love for that human girl that wiped out a quarter of our population!" Nathaniel retorted.

"There you go again Nathaniel, you're not the only one that lost someone that day.....I lost my twin brother too!"

"I lost my daughter Celeste! My daugh-ter! You of all people should understand......oh wait you can never understand because you're too busy falling for someone that will never love you" Nathaniel said mocking Celeste. Out of anger, Celeste brought out her class and abruptly ran them through Nathaniel's face.

"The little wolf is mad" Nathaniel jeered as his face began healing.

"You know nothing about love Nathaniel!" Celeste retorted.

"Says the person no one has ever loved. Tell me, Celeste, you saved his life and what did he do in return....did he love you? No. I'm very sure out there you saved him from himself, again, and what did do? Did he love you? No. That boy will never love you Celeste, he would only see you as his fucking friend!" Nathaniel said with a huge grin on his face.

"You will die by Anika's side alone, and the both of you will rot in hell with no one to remember you" Celeste proclaimed, spitting on his face and then leaving his sight.

Meanwhile, Miss Flora had gone back to the school to check on her students, just to see that the school had turned upside down and the students were no longer in class.

"What the hell happened here?" She asked herself.

The next morning, the school's principal called in Miss Flora to explain what had happened, while he had constructors fix the damages done and the janitors do their job. Miss Flora couldn't answer his questions. She told him that she had something urgent to attend to so she left the students for quite some time and when she had returned, they were all gone and the school was not how she had left it.

The principal then called in the four students one after the other.

"Jake and I went out of the class to discuss family matters when we saw a wolf. It was in the janitor's closet, so we held it off by locking it in" Dahlia explained.

"Dahlia rushed to tell Jade and I that they had just seen a wolf and that she should take cover" Sky explained.

"I personally was terrified, I was like oh my God....is this the end? Cause literally, it felt like it fucking was" Jade explained.

"I was hiding throughout, I don't know what happened" Jake stuttered.

"Then we heard Jade screaming and we thought maybe she was......you know......" Sky said running her right thumb over her neck signifying the word dead.

"I ran downstairs to see if there was anything I could do but then another wolf came in and they fought it out like crazy" Dahlia explained.

"The wolf had me like it had me. From there I just like fainted so I don't know the rest of the story" Jade explained.

"I was still hiding" Jake said.

"I'm pretty sure that both wolves fell in love with each other and ran away" Sky said.

With all the explanations the principal heard, he was convinced that the four of them were all lunatics. He punished them by putting them on toilet duty for two weeks. He put them in pairs; Dahlia and Jade and Sky and Jake. Jade was angry that she didn't get Jake as her partner so she told the principal about it and he doubles her punishment by making her wash his new car.

Sky told Dahlia that she wants to exchange partners but Dahlia refused, telling her that it was about time they had a real conversation and Sky agreed to it.

Jake and Dahlia got home and after a stressful day at school, Jake went to bed. Dahlia laid down about to take a nap when her eyes fell on Jake's journal. She double-checked to see if Jake was already fast asleep and she confirmed that he was. She grabbed his journal and read everything he had written down. Towards the end, she saw when Jake relates their relationship to that of Celeste and his (refer to chapter four, the last paragraph where he says Dahlia is my Celeste), and she began panicking. She looked at him afraid.

"Does he love me?"
