Chapter 30 ~ Oddly Comforting

“Oh my sweet sweet girl, I missed you so much!” Aunt Marie hugged Rose tightly.

Because of the distance and how demanding it was being Ethan’s wife and running a start-up, Rose rarely had time to go on a day’s trip late alone go on a vacation.

“I missed you too, so much!” Rose fought the urge to cry, she didn’t want to worry her Aunt.

After losing her parents at such a young age, Rose was always reserved and rarely showed it when she didn’t like something. She had been mistreated by her father’s sister before Aunt Marie took her in. She was fifteen when she was taken and had already built a wall around herself to protect her heart.

The wall that only Ethan had access to without even trying.

She peeled away as they walked arm-in-arm. They got in a taxi and it took them home.

“How is everything going? You look well.” Marie said as they sat in the kitchen.

Marie’s house wasn’t as grand as Ethan's and was small. It had a small kitchen, a small dining, and only two bedrooms.
