The party had been perfect, the kind where everyone was dressed to the nines, laughter filled the air, and Emily had allowed herself to feel something she hadn’t felt in years—joy, hope, the possibility of love again. She had even started to believe that maybe, just maybe, she could have something real with Tyler.

But then Ava had arrived.

Emily stood on the balcony, the cool night air brushing against her skin, but it did little to calm the fire of confusion and betrayal raging inside her.
