The day before the retreat, Perry faked being sick. To make it seem so real to convince Autumn that he was indeed sick, he called Khalid to come over to help him out.

That morning, Autumn opened the front door and was shocked to see Khalid standing there with shopping nylon.

If Perry was aware, he would have informed her beforehand that Khalid was coming over, but here he was on an impromptu visit.

"Uhm… hi! How're you doing? Come in, please," she ushered him in immediately, then closed the door behind him. "Perry is still asleep. Will you wait or you'll go meet him upstairs?"

"He called me not quite long ago because he thought he might have a fever. That's why I came rushing here with the drugs I went to buy for him just now," he raised the shopping nylon in his hand for her to see.

"He's sick?" A look of worry appeared on her face immediately. They were in the same house and she had no idea.

"I'll go check him up," she said and without waiting for Khalid's reply, she ru

The designer came a while later and brought out the different dresses. Autumn was overwhelmed by the number and wondered why Perry had to tell the designer to pick so many when she was only going to wear one. Perry told her to try on all the clothes so that he could pick his favorite one. She tried all the clothes, and after everything, he picked the first one, which was the one she also liked the most. The day of the ball finally arrived, and Autumn invited her sister, Elise, to come to help her out with a few preparations. Elise was a fashion enthusiast, so she was very excited to see her sister get ready. Perry also invited his sister, Kyla, to help her out. There, Elise and Kyla made friends with each other. Perry hired a professional makeup artist and hairstylist to get her ready. He even went as far as ordering a wig for her so that her hair color would be different from her normal one to help hide her identity. "You must mean a lot to Perry," Elise suddenly said to

"Gloria?" "Long time no see, my love," The lady, Gloria, gave him a bright smile, then she went ahead to outstretch her hand and hugged him. Perry was a bit stunned, as he didn't see that coming, but he removed his hands from his trouser pockets and hugged her back, while Autumn stared at them in confusion. "My love?" She muttered to herself. Just then, they released each other from the hug. "Damn, you're looking good as always," Gloria said to him, ignoring the fact that Autumn was standing next to him. Though she saw her, she wasn't interested in acknowledging her presence. "You're not bad yourself," Perry simply added. His face looked a bit tight as he looked at her, and memories from their past relationship flashed through his brain. "Why has your face been scarce though? I haven't seen you since the proposal," she asked, a slightly mischievous smile sitting pretty on her face. Perry scoffed. He wanted to ask her if it was sane to stay in touch or keep seeing the wo

"She's my ex-girlfriend." Immediately he said that Autumn's mouth went ajar in realization, as she recalled where she had heard the name from. It was when she had gone to his parent's house for dinner, and his mum, Lucy had called her aside to speak to her. "I'm just really glad Perry is now yours, and Gloria isn't in his life anymore," she recalled that that was the exact way Lucy had told her. "So, that's her," she muttered to herself and nodded her head slowly. Still, she felt that was not enough reason for her to touch him like that. That she was his ex was enough reason for him not to allow such things from her. She turned to face him immediately. "Your ex?" She scoffed. "That lady is your ex and you allowed her to touch you that way?" "What the heck? How did she touch me?" His face looked stern as he turned to face her. "She's my ex, not my enemy, okay?" He replied and walked away to meet some other people and greet them. "Woah," she muttered in awe as she stare

"You should learn to keep your hands off him by the way," Autumn said to her and turned to leave, but Gloria pulled her arm back to face her. "It's still sad though because I'm his first and only love and you're—" Autumn cuts in. She had had enough already and was not ready to listen to any of her rants anymore. With a pissed tone in her voice, she said to Gloria aloud, drawing the attention of some of the other ladies in the restroom at that moment. "Why the heck are you so invested in our marriage?! Yes, let's assume I truly am his rebound, but why are you so bothered?" She scoffed. "Have you forgotten so quickly that you were the one who broke it off with him? Yet, with the way you're acting, people would think it was the other way round!" Some ladies had gathered around now, but luckily for both of them, they were not making any videos but simply watching them. Gloria chuckled and defended herself. "I broke it off with him because I didn't want to be with him!" "T

"Can I have this dance?" Perry stretched out his hand to Autumn, offering to dance with her on the dance floor. "I don't think I'm in the mood to—" Autumn was saying when the lights suddenly went off and a dimmer one went on. The white light then moved to both of them, making everyone's attention on them. "Ladies and gentlemen!" The MC called out from the stage. "Sir Perry Moore and his beautiful wife!" Autumn scoffed as others began to clap. "Beautiful, when he can't even see me?" "Won't you take my hand? Everyone's watching," Perry said to her, his hand still stretched out to her. She looked around briefly and noticed that he wasn't lying., she took his hand and they began to dance to the solemn song that was on. The lights moved to another couple as soon as they began to dance, and the MC introduced those, and it went on like that till almost everyone in the hall was introduced as they joined the dance floor. With the closeness between them, Autumn couldn't help but st

The music ended not quite long after, and the lights came back on. The MC called for donations, and one after the other, everyone went to the stage to drop theirs. Some dropped new dollar notes, others dropped cheques and some sent them to the host's account. Perry made his donation and made another on behalf of his father, and returned his seat after he was given a thunderous clap. "Should we stay a little longer or would you like for us to take our leave now?" He asked Autumn as soon as he returned to their table. Autumn looked around to see if other people had started leaving, but she noticed that most of them were all seated and still enjoying the ball. She looked back at him, "Uhm, I don't think it'd be right for us to leave when others are still present." "Who cares?" He replied. "Besides, someone has to leave first to give others the courage to leave. And we don't have anything to do here anymore. I've done all I want to, and from the expression on your face, you l

"Aren't you gonna ask?" "I asked already. It's your choice to give me answers whenever you're ready," she simply responded, then stood up to switch on the tv again. She didn't want the situation to turn awkward between them, so she felt switching on the tv would make it less awkward. "She was my first and only love," he started, and Autumn remained glued to the spot she was. She didn't know if to go ahead and switch on the tv or return to her seat or listen to him. "She was everything I wanted in a woman," he continued. "Every time I set my eyes on her, it was always a new feeling I felt. I fell in love with her every day." Autumn scoffed lightly, as she felt a pang of pain in her chest that left as quickly as it came. "Come and have your seat. Standing there will only make things weird," Perry said as he watched her standing, her back to him. Without saying anything, she turned around and returned to her seat. "Can I go on now?" "Yeah." It's very late in… Mmmm…" she moaned again, as Perry moved from sucking her right breast to the other one. "Are you sure you're okay?" "Yeah," she replied curtly, getting a hold of herself once again. "I'm sort of busy at the moment, can you call back?" She added sharply. "It isn't something that'll take time. I only wanted to get Olive's phone number from you." "Just get it from Lisa already. I… ugh…" she cried out softly as his hand slowly descended to her covered pussy and he gently rubbed. "I know you'd never believe me just by my words, so I made sure to gather my evidence to show you." "What the heck?" Perry stared at him unbelievably, as he felt his heart beating heavily. "Even if what you're saying is true, why are you telling me now?" Max let out a sigh. "You might call it selfishness, but my heart hasn't healed from the hurt she put me through. I know your engagement with her is very close, and I don't want to see her happy after everything she did to me." "And what did she do to you exactly?" She asked him with a look of fear on her face. The doctor looked at her, then at the paper in his hand, then back at her. He then started to explain his diagnosis. "She happened to have arrhythmias, heart valve problems, and high blood pressure in her lung arteries, which led to a heart failure that made her collapse." "Oh my God," Autumn gasped, as she covered her mouth with her hands. Her eyes were teary by now as she stared at the doctor. "Isn't there anything that could be done about it?" She added after a couple of seconds. "Will she survive it? What do I have to do to make her feel better? Will she get better? She won't die now, will she? Please, be honest with me," she begged with teary eyes as her heart began to beat heavily. She had arguments with her mother a lot, but she w

The receptionist raised her head to look at Autumn again, giving her a disapproving stare. "Do you not have a last name?" "It's Dax. Autumn Dax." Confirming that 'Autumn Dax' was on the list of new employees, she gave Autumn a brisk nod. "Go to the office on the last end of the next floor."
