Chapter 40_ Independence

After shedding tears for an unknown period of time, Kate rose from the ground and made her way to the lavatory, where she refreshed herself and attempted to wipe away any trace of Lucas's touch on her body. However, despite her efforts, she couldn't eliminate all of the marks and stood before the mirror in frustration.

"He dared to claim my body as his own and then have the audacity to tell me he wouldn't touch me without the aid of drugs? Who does he think he is?" Kate muttered under her breath, still seething from Lucas's earlier words.

Leaving the bathroom, she selected a knee-length dress with a floral pattern and put it on before sitting on the bed and continuing to mumble to herself. "I'll show him. Let's see if he'll still rely on drugs or alcohol next time." Her mind raced with ideas on how to make Lucas take back his words and admit that he found her attractive and couldn't resist touching her last night.
