Writing this chapter was a roller coasterđ.. Hope you enjoy dear readers.
Phoebeâs POV: Phew! We had finally escaped them. It wasnât easy, but we managed to elude them. I stepped out of the car and surveyed our surroundings. Navigating an unfamiliar place was quite challenging; I had no idea where we were. Mr. Lawrence emerged from the car, visibly out of breath. Seeing him worked up was oddly satisfying. âAre you sure you know how to drive? You nearly got us killed!â he yelled. I couldnât help but chuckle. âI didnât realize you were such a scaredy-cat,â I teased. âHey, watch your tongue,â he warned. âLook who's talking. Drop the act, Mr. Lawrence. I just saved both our asses,â I retorted. âCan you stop calling me that? It makes me feel old. Just call me Anthony, please.â A soft laugh escaped my lips. âWe need to get out of here.â âYes, but what about my car?â âYour car? I hope you're not thinking of driving us to wherever we're going.â âY-yeah.â âSeriously, AnthonyâŠâ He raised an eyebrow, signaling me not to call him by h
Phoebe's POV: It was hard enough to escape the men tailing us, but fortunately, we managed to slip away. However, finding the hideout proved to be more difficult. Anthony kept leading us to God knows where. Fortunately, we eventually found the hideoutâa small apartment located in an isolated place. It was kind of cute. We scanned the place to see if we were being followed. There was nothing to be alarmed about. As we peeked through the windows, no one seemed to be around. I wondered if it was the right place. "Are you sure this is the place?" "Yes, I believe so," I could sense his doubts in his tone. Clearly, he wasnât sure either. Suddenly, the door opened, and Chang's head popped out. "Chang." "Phoebe." He smiled at me. "Come on in," he invited us. He grabbed a seat for me and ignored Anthony, who chuckled. "You are bleeding," he noticed the little cut on my forehead. "It's nothing I can't handle." "No, I must treat it." "Chang, it's really oka
First Love⊠âYaa!!â Diana yelled, startling everyone. She ran towards Eric and hit him on the back. âHow dare you ignore me when I called you, huh? You imbecile, you almost got us all caught!â âS-sorry,â Eric stammered, trying to run from her. There was no way he could stand an upset Diana. He hid behind Phoebe. âHow dare you also yell at my client? Where do you think youâre going?â They kept running around Phoebe. Phoebe was about to say something when Diana glared at her. She handed Eric to Diana. âPhoebe!â Eric pleaded. She pretended not to have heard him. Diana grabbed his left ear. âOuch!â he winced in pain. âI was just concerned about Phoebeâs safety.â âYaa!!â Diana yelled again, almost damaging everyoneâs ears, especially Ericâs. His face turned pale as his soul almost left his body. âAre you saying I donât care about her? Huh? She clearly said she was okay. What more do you want me to do?â She shook his soulless body. Feeling for her boyfriend, Phoebe tr
The De-Royal Family Residence Vanessa was being strangled by her brother. He slammed her back against the wall and held her neck. Unable to breathe, she struggled to free herself, but he was much stronger than her. âC-Cloud, I -I -I c-c-canât breathe,â she managed to choke out. She was losing consciousness. A tear from her eye snapped him out of his rage. He quickly removed his hand. âKhofi! You nearly killed me, bastard.â Cloud hated the idea of hurting his precious sister but he had enough of her. âBastard? You fool, you canât even get your act together. I specifically told you not to stir up trouble, didnât I?â he yelled at her. She rubbed her throat and spoke, âI have done nothing to warrant this rough treatment from you, brother.â âI think there is something wrong with that head of yours.â âAre you insinuating I am insane?â âOf course. No sane person would embrace problems when weâre supposed to be avoiding them,â he explained. âI didnât kill him.â âYou thi
Notice: This chapter will be in Dianaâs point view. I am excited to share Dianaâs view on her case. Dianaâs POV This is the first case I've ever dealt with that has no systematic arrangement. Everything seems confusing, moving from one story to another. I can't wrap my head around this one. Not only is the family famous and dangerous, but Eric's connection to them makes it even harder to crack this case. I sat in my office all night, trying to find a way to avoid being stuck on one case forever. If I piece together all the information we have, it only leads to a dead end. Despite Mr. Lawrence's confession, I can't see where the case is going. The prime suspect is no longer a suspect. Damn it, I'm dying here. A knock on the door interrupted my messy thoughts. "Diana, can I come in?" Jasmine asked. I granted her permission to enter. "You don't seem okay," she said, worried. "Well, I'm not," I admitted. She didnât let me finish before she started blabbing. "O
Phoebeâs POV âHow did you get my number?â He laughed out loud. I couldnât figure out if he was an imposter, a helper, or a distraction. But he sounded confident and was confusing. âDonât you think that is the less important thing you should be asking?â he said. âItâs important to me. You could be a fraudster, and I canât deal with that.â He chuckled. âYou are as hard-headed as I thought.â âTell me why you came to me and not Diana? She is the one handling the case. I want a definite answer if you want me to listen to you.â âBecause I see more potential in you than Diana. She may be a lawyer, but she is a softie.â His tone was calm but harsh. There was no doubt in my mind that he is one of the men who look down on women in power. I chuckled. âLetâs meet up,â he said. âI hardly know anything about New York. I canât meet you anywhere,â I said to him. âDonât worry about that. You tell me your location, and I will have my men pick you up.â Men? I said to mysel
NOTICE: Mild sexual content⊠read with caution. Ericâs POV I knew Phoebe was hiding something from me. I knew exactly where she was. She met up with someone behind my back. I wondered why she hid it from me. What she being threatened? I wondered. But I had my doubts. It was impossible to for her to be threatened. She may look weak to the others but she was on a whole new level when she is angered. We need as we were told. Diana ordered us to stay low. It was pointless to do anything anyways. The key suspect was no longer the suspect. The case was all messed up. And now Phoebe was hiding something from me. A knock on the door , interrupted my thoughts. âHeyâ Phoebe entered. âYou look tired and distracted,â she observed. I sighed. I wanted to question her from keeping things from me, but it would make it worse. She would find out I was keeping an eye on her and have imprinted a tracker on her wrist watch. She was quite smart,in order to prevent that from happening.
Phoebeâs POV I was a little harsh. Why canât I control this little mouth of mine? I left his office in a rush because I felt so guilty; I couldnât look him in the eyes. He must have doubts about my feelings for him. Since we got back from New York, I hardly had time to talk to him. A week had passed since I met up with George De-Royal. I went to him because I wanted some advice on what to do with the information I had gotten. Diana and her team were still in New York, probably looking for more evidence or suspects for the case. Anthony was asked to rent a new apartment. But he decided to stay in his new house he purchased not long ago. On my way to my desk, I ran into Andrew. I sighed and passed by him. âMiss Meyers!â he called. âYes, Andrew,â âAre you okay? You seemed a little distracted,â âItâs nothing to be worried about,â We had the attention of the other employees, so I had to hurry back to my desk. I smiled at him and asked to leave, but he stopped me
Ericâs POV Aunt Greta told a story about my grandfather and his father. She said we were quite similar in many ways. Just like my father, we were both stubborn children. Grandfather fell in love as a kid while traveling with his father. Unfortunately, the girl in question was an ordinary Thai girl. She was beautiful, he said. His father wasnât interested in creating such a connection. In times of war, a love that was supposed to bring people together instead created a rift between a father and a son. His father led to his first loveâs death, and on his dying bed, he asked for forgiveness, but my grandfather refused. Aunt Greta wanted my help to convince my grandfather to visit his fatherâs grave. So here I am, standing in front of his door, hoping he would open up, since I have been coming for a week now. âGrandfather, you donât need to act like this. I just want us to talk. This is your last warning.â No response from him. This was my only option. âIf you donât c
Philip's POV Everything feels like a dream. I'm trying hard to be friends with Eric, but itâs difficult, especially since he got married. Heâs a changed man. Heâs always smiling now. I heard he loves visiting Phoebeâs home country. The point is, heâs happy, and Iâm just here in my office, drinking alcohol. We found out who attacked Ericâguess who? Rachael Li. I expected that. Sheâs unstable and needs help, which is why I sent her to a psychiatric hospital, since Iâm technically her husband. But things are clear now. No hard feelings. She claims she has changed, and who am I to judge? Iâve changed too, but not entirely. I still lack the courage to confess and apologize to Diana for being a jerk. Six months should be enough to get my act together. "Ping!" "Who the hell is disturbing my..." I pause when I see whoâs calling. "Diana," I mutter. I clear my throat and answer, "Diana." "Can we meet?" "Yeah..." "Someone wants to see you. Can you make it right now? Iâm in front of th
A Few Hours Ago⊠Phoebeâs POV It was high time I faced my fears and made things right. I decided to visit my father. Mama accompanied me, and the moment we entered the police station, I asked her for some alone time with him. She nodded in agreement. I approached the officer at the front desk and politely asked to see my father. He directed me to the waiting area, where I took a seat and waited for him to be called. Soon enough, he appeared. He seemed to be doing well, smiling as he took his seat. âIs there something you need? You havenât visited for a while now,â he said. âBeen busy,â I replied. âYeah, I can see that. Youâre getting married.â âHuh!â I exclaimed, surprised. He chuckled softly. âDonât be surprised. Your marriage to Eric is everywhere.â âHmm. I just want you to listen. Will you do that for me?â He nodded. âIâm sorry.â âHuh?â âDonât be surprised. It was bound to happen anyway,â I giggled. He chuckled again. âIâm sorry for being a bad father, for
Phoebeâs POV As expected of the most famous family in Singapore. Mr. Hong makes our unprepared marriage London to the public. Everywhere is flooded with the news of the number one bachelorâs marriage, ERIC HONG. Itâs not easy being his soon to be bride. The hate is as equal as the love. People think king i donât deserve to be with him. He is too precious for me. Catrina snaps at me interrupting my thoughts. âGirl where is your head. You canât be distracted when you have a big wedding at hand. More importantly you are the brideâ she points out. âExactlyâ âHuh!âshe exclaims. âWhat are talking about?â Ella asks. I sigh. âI havenât you guys seen the hate comments on the news. No everywhere. Itâs hard to be the bride when you are the only one who seems to be happyâ I explain. They stare blankly at me with a frown. âI didnât think you care about what others think about you?â âMe too, guess people do changeâ âThat is not it. I feel like itâs being rushed. We are not
Phoebeâs POV Mama has all the reasons to be upset with me. I did tell her I was not having sex with Eric, and now it turns out I am pregnant. She keeps dragging me along. I donât know where we are heading. She probably doesnât know either. âMama, mama, mama!â âWhat?!â She finally pauses and lets go of my hand to face me. âWhat? Do you have anything to say now?â âNo I donât, but I need to know where we are going l, we have been walking and itâs getting dark. We are a few steps away from the hospital I think itâs best we..â âNo, we are not going back to that place. I know what you are trying to do here and it wonât work on me this time aroundâ âMama, listen pleaseâ âNo, I am not going to listen to your lies anymore. I have had enough of you trying to act smart with me. Yes may not be the best mother in the world but, I did want you to end up like me. I am trying here Phoebe. I wish..â her voice breaking. âMama,â I call, softly. âNo donât say a word. I am not done yet. You tol
Ericâs POV âCongratulations, you are pregnant,â hearing the doctor announce such news, my eyes widen. I canât believe it. She is really pregnant. I blink, trying to grasp what he just revealed. Forgetting that I am not the only one surprised. âWhat!!!â âDoctor, you must be mistaken. There is no way my daughter would be pregnant. She hasnât been with a man before, please do your checks well.â âHuh!â I exclaim, and Grandfather Hong and Aunt Greta exchange glances. They are in shock. The doctor is the most shocked. He glances at Phoebe and then to me. âMama, calm down. Itâs probably a mistake, right, doctor?â She winces at the doctor. Unfortunately, the doctor seems to be an honest man. He still insists on the fact that she is pregnant. Honestly, I have been hoping for such news. The last time we made love, I didnât use a condom. She passed out, so she hardly remembered what happened after. And that is good news. She would probably have my neck if she finds out I am the cause
Phoebeâs POV âHello, little brother, do you miss me?â she smiles. Little brother? Mr. Hong is not the eldest? I canât believe it. She is pretty and rich; it makes sense if she is related to the Hongs. I pause and stare at the two people who are arguing. Instead of being surprised, Eric is smiling like he knows what is going on. I wonder what is happening. I didnât know Mr. Hong had an older sister. Eric isnât the only one who seems unfazed. Her presence interrupts everything. Everyone is staring at us now. I thought it was supposed to be a birthday party. My stomach groans. I am still hungry, and yet I canât even eat anymore. I draw too much attention to myself with the way I am eating. This isnât like me at all. I donât understand why I am like this. âWhat are you doing here?â Mr. Hong asks. âIs that how you welcome your older sister?â she answers. âI ask again: what are you doing here?â âAnd I say again: is that how you treat your older sister?â He glances at Eric. âDid

She oddly looks familiar, donât you think so Kaleâ K
Ericâs POV I hated to ask favor from the man who wanted me and my family dead. Unfortunately he suddenness in killing my parents. It disgusted me to know he is related to me by blood. âI need your helpâ I said to him. âMy help?â âHey donât ignore me.
