     Chapter Five - Family Dinner 

"What are you doing here? How did you even get in?" Scott asked Jackson who was seated eating chips and watching TV.

  "Don't yell at me, I just wanted to watch TV." 

   "In my house? You have a house for goodness sake " Scott grinned as he dropped his bag and sank into the chair, tired.

  "You told me the pin and I came in. You should change the pin if you don't want me here" Jackson said and turned towards the large TV.

  "I should really change it."

  "Wait..I almost forgot,what happened with the hottie? Is she saying the truth?" Jackson asked after turning off the TV.

  "You coward...a friend in need is a friend indeed. But you left,no ran...away" Scott said pointing at his nose.

  "I.. I... didn't,I only went to the restroom, you were gone when I came back" Jackson stuttered.

"I guess it's true,I don't believe I....with a girl, good thing i know how to act." Scott said, ignoring Jack's excuse. 

"Now,the amusing thing is that, she met my mum as my girlfriend" Scott said and got up  from the chair.

"WHAT!!" Jackson shrieked 

"Now,we have a family date in the house" Scott said,his shoulders slumped.

"This is amazing, how did she meet Mum?" Jackson asked  interestingly.

  

   "Apparently,she was looking for me and the driver left a card at the hotel , one thing led to another" 

"So,you guys are a couple now?" Jackson asked excitedly as he put a chip in his mouth

   "Hell no, I don't even know her name" Scott retorted

"You didn't ask her? Don't tell me you didn't get her number?" Jackson said and chuckled.

"No,I didn't"

"Of course... wait..What?, You didn't? You're such an idiot! How would you pick her up for the dinner?" Jackson shouted and hit Scott's head.

"If you're not such an idiot why did you run away,or why did you give me a wrong room number? And even advise me to get drunk" Scott yelled back at Jackson.

  "Well..if you still wanna meet Percy,he's available 24-7" Jackson said and winked.

"Jeez..what the heck was I thinking when I agreed to be your friend" Scott said and got up from the cushion.

"No,no, you talked to me first" Jackson yelled in defense.

  "Whatever Jackson,go home." 

  "I'm staying here tonight, let's eat together"

  "I just lost my appetite while talking to you, don't come into room,just take the guest room" Scott said as he mounted the stairs.

  "We're sleeping together bro" Jackson teased and resumed the movie he was watching.

   

                   ✨ SATURDAY ✨

"Hey babe, I'm surprised you remember me" Allison said over the phone.

  "Ally,I'm so sorry, I've just been busy lately and I got myself in a mess too. I couldn't return your call." Kylie pleaded.

"I've been busy too, let's go out tonight. I just broke up with Chris" Allison said.

"What? Finally! I never liked that guy. But I'm sorry I can't go out with you" Kylie said.

"Are you going out with Greg?" Allison asked.

"Greg? God! Greg! I forgot about Greg, he never calls me,he's always too busy" Kylie said stressing the "busy".

"That guy,he was so bent on getting together with you and even asked you to dinner, did he make it?" 

No,he didn't. I ended up sleeping in an hotel because it was late and I was drunk." Kylie explained.

"Don't ever pick his calls. You're not getting back with him. He's a prick" Allison said seriously.

" Thanks girl,I surely won't. How's Gramps?" 

"He's doing well,he's asleep now." Allison replied.

"Oh..so,what are you doing tonight? Are you dating already?" Allison asked.

"Patience Ally, patience. I called to ask,as you're the fashionista, what can I wear to a family dinner?" Kylie asked.

"You've reconciled with your mum and her husband? That's so nice sweetheart. I'm so happy,can I come too? It's been a while since I last saw your mum." Allison sounded excited.

"Hell no, there's no way I'm stepping foot in that man's house. It's another family and it's twisted,I promise to explain it all when we meet up." Kylie said.

"Oh God! I can't wait to hear it." 

  "Allison, focus!" Kylie retorted

"Fine! What kind of family is it? " Allison asked.

"Rich family.., wait, you're stylishly prying again,how's the family concerned with my dress?" Kylie said stressfully.

"Fine, you're becoming the daughter in-law of a rich family. You have every right to yell at me" 

"I didn't yell Allison,I'm getting late. I don't even know the address of where I'm headed." Kylie said confused.

"Fine,I'm out of fashion styles, your clothes are all ...

"Allison,you know I have great fashion sense,I'm just asking for a little help." Kylie said slowly and proudly.

"Whatever,wear the first color that comes to your mind when you think of the guy you're meeting" Allison chuckled playful before she hung up.

"Really? Thanks for the help Allison. You were very helpful" Kylie said as she threw her phone on the bed which was bombarded with clothes.

She thought of what Allison said and chuckled.

"Crazy girl" She said  and finally picked up a white fitted turtle neck, blue denim and a white long jacket. She picked up the black leather ankle boots from her pile of disarrayed shoes.

She looked at herself  in the mirror confidently and smiled. She touched her medium length,well styled black hair softly and headed out after making sure there were no blemishes. She had to look her best.

She looked at the address on her phone; the one she had texted the driver to send, saying Scott wouldn't be able to pick her up. She took a taxi and she was there in some minutes.

"Thank you" She said to the taxi driver who was beaming with smiles.

  She walked up to the big house and exclaimed

"Woah.. this is so huge and beautiful. I hope that prick has not gotten here first." She said hopefully before the gate opened for a two approaching cars.

The first car stopped and Scott got out and approached Kylie.

"Thank Goodness,I was wondering how I would tell Mum that you cancelled. How did you get the address?" Scott asked looking at Kylie who was fondling with her hair.

"Maybe I'm just smarter than you are" She said and walked to the car and got in.

Scott rolled his eyes and went to the car too.

"Hi,I'm Jackson" Jackson said as they walked into the house.

"Nice to meet you,I've heard a lot about you. How you're the reason why I'm standing here talking to you right now" Kylie whispered forcing the words out of her mouth.

Jackson retreated and walked in first.

"Mum! We're here" Jackson yelled with his arms wide open.

"My cuties! How are you all doing? I'm happy to see you all and especially to have dinner with you. It's been so long" Victoria said excitedly as she pulled all of them into a hug in turns.

The house..no the mansion was just so magnificent.

The tiled floor,the well furnished furnitures, the big yellow chandelier hanging down, the golden carvings placed in almost every corner of the room.Kylie looked around in awe.

  "I'm glad you all made it here tonight. I made food, myself. You'll love it . I made your favorites. Dear, I don't know your favorite, I would have cooked yours too. But next time I'll make it up to you." Victoria said , snapping Kylie out of her imagination.

"No problem,I don't really have a favorite. I eat anything I feel like" Kylie said respectfully as the silent Scott led them to the dining room.

The maids served the food and they all sat down.

"Here.. this soup is from my special recipe. It's been so long since I made it. Try it" Victoria said as she passed the bowl of soup to Kylie.

"Hmm..it tastes so good. It really tastes like my dad's special recipe." Kylie said and chuckled.

"Jackson?" 

"It is the best thing I've tasted this year, Mum. You never make this type of food for me" Jackson compliment and complained.

"Scott?" 

"It's good" He said shortly and resumed eating.

Kylie stepped on his toes and gave him "compliment her" look.

"Wow, Mum. It's so delicious, you should cook more of this. I should perhaps sack your cook. You're so good." Scott said savouring the soup.

They all  laughed and resumed eating.

The maids packed the plates and brought bottles of wine. Jackson opened it quickly and served everyone.

  "So, how did you meet, the both of you?" Victoria asked.

  

"What? Huh?" They replied simultaneously.

"It's actually a long story, right Scott?" Kylie said and gave out a nervous chuckle.

  "Yes.. I went on a business trip. She was drunk,so she thought I was someone she came with. She gave me her bag and went into the toilet. I had to leave and I couldn't leave her bag,so I took it with me then called her." Scott lied without blinking.

"Haha..I thought he was a thief ,but he returned my bag anyways." Kylie said shakily.

"Wow,you guys must be made for each other. Plus I really like you dear" Victoria said and patted Kylie's hand.

"Huh.. can I use the bathroom?" Kylie asked, breaking the silence Jackson was about to break with probably a stupid question that will expose them. 

"Of course" Victoria said and stood up to show her the way.

She felt weak as she was about to get up,but she did anyways.

  And she collapsed and fainted.
