ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE

SYLVIA'S POV

After the shock of the day, I finally got back home with the kids. I glanced over at Zendaya and asked if she was still shaken up from the incident earlier. "I'm fine, Mommy," she reassured me, though I could see the remnants of fear in her eyes.

I helped them out of their uniforms and set to work preparing dinner. Beverly was coming over, so I wanted to make something special. While I was cooking, the kids pitched in, and we made a batch of guacamole and chips together. Zenith was in charge of mashing the avocados, while Zendaya helped with the chips. It felt good to focus on something positive and fun, despite the day's earlier chaos.

After helping the kids with their homework, I let them unwind with a bit of TV while I retreated to my study to catch up on work for the new clients coming in. It was nice to have some quiet time to focus, and I made decent progress.

Just as I was wrapping up, my phone rang. It was Beverly,
