I left the room and headed straight to the guest room, the one Gilbert slept in. I checked the cupboard and saw that all his clothes were not there anymore. Lana was telling the truth, he had left. “Which time did he leave the house?” I asked Lana, as I wanted to see the possibility of making it to the airport in time.

“I'm afraid it's very early, by now his plane could have landed in Houston,” she answered, and I nodded. How would I tell the kids that Gilbert left without telling them goodbye?
