Chapter 24. Having the Jitters for a second marriage

Emily's POV

No longer had Kate finished with my makeup than Collin arrived. He came in his white Camry car, looking all dashing in his sophisticated, tailored suit and shades.

He had a perm and neatly trimmed his hair. And the smile he had on his face made him even more handsome. I wore a beautiful silky gown with embroideries on the bust area, and my hair hung freely by the right side of my neck with a fringe just above my eyes.

Kate’s slight smokey eye makeup made my dark eyes pop, and she attached beautiful dangling earrings to my earlobes.

“Have fun, Emerald. Remember what I told you,” Kate whispered in my ears and I nodded curtly, keeping my smile from faltering.

Clutching my purse tightly, I breathed deeply, but before I could take a step towards Collin, Carl showed up, his gaze flicking at everyone’s faces.

“Mom! Are you going now?” He asked curiously, his eyes radiating with concern.
