Hazel couldn't believe she was standing in the middle of a nightclub with Tom. She had only been single for a few weeks after Gerald ended things with her, but Tom had been persistent in his pursuit of her. At first, she was hesitant to start anything new, but as the days went by, she found herself enjoying Tom's company more and more. She was expecting to be really lonely after Gerald broke up with her but all thanks to Clara.

The music was loud, and the lights were flashing all around them. Tom had his arm around her waist, and she seemed to feel safe and comfortable with him. As they danced, Hazel couldn't help but notice how different Tom seemed from Gerald. He was kinda, kind, caring, understanding and didn't seem to have a care in the world. It was refreshing to be around someone like that.

As they took a break from dancing, Tom leaned in close to Hazel. "You having fun?" he asked with a smile.

Hazel grinned back at him. "Yeah, I am. Thanks for bringing me here."

Tom had been planning to propose to Hazel for weeks, but he couldn't find the right moment. He was worried that if he waited too long, she might change her mind and he didn't even know how she would react if he proposed to her. So, he decided to take her to the beach, where they could have some fun and then he could pop the question. This was the only chance he got to take Hazel totally away from Gerald. Tom had the feelings that things would go well because Hazel wouldn't want to reject his proposal after everything they had done together and what they had shared together in the past after her break up with Gerald. But there was this side of him that was telling him what he was doing was wrong. He chose to ignore it and focus on what his mind told him to do. He left his office and went straight to Hazel's office, his heart beating erratically. "Hey, Hazel, do you want to go to the beach today? Your shift is over, right?" Tom asked. "Yes of course. Sure, that sounds like fu

As Hazel walked slowly into the office, her eyes swollen in red. People were asking her what was wrong but she couldn't speak. She headed straight into her office, dropped her bag on her desk and collapsed into the couch at one side of her office. Tears welled down slowly as she remembered everything single thing that had happened. It was so difficult for her to keep up the act but she knew that her friend was always right. She picked up her phone and dialed Clara's number. It rang and rang but there was no response. Hazel tried it severally and when there was no answer she dropped her phone and sank back into the couch. Just then, the door to her office opened. She looked up and saw the receptionist walking over to her. "Good morning Ms. Willoughby." Hazel stood up gently, trying to feign a welcoming smile but she failed. "Good morning ma'am." She responded, her voice hoarse and cracking. "Are you okay?" The receptionist hurried to her and held her by her shoulder.

Hazel whispered into Gerald's ear. "It's just a matter of few minutes. You will understand very soon. Let those guys come in first then, you see what I have in stock for you." Gerald said, smiling brightly. "You can at least give me a hint. You kept holding my wrist. What's going on? My heart can't handle the suspense for long." Hazel said, shaking her head. "I told you already. Just calm down." Gerald said and faced the receptionist again. "Have you notified them all?" He asked. "Yes sir. They should be here anytime soon." She nodded and buried her face into the screen again. "Your attention is needed here too. So, move closer to hear th

"How dare you call me? What gave you the audacity to call? You think I will fall for that scene you and Gerald created?" Arin yelled when she realized whose call it was. "Calm down Arin. I want us to solve this amicably. I didn't even know Gerald was going to do that. I am really sorry if I hurt you, can we talk about this?" Hazel asked, her voice barely above whisper. "What do you want us to talk about? I am coming over there right away and you will regret everything you have done." Arin said and hung up immediately. As the call ended, Hazel tried to quickly gather her things and make a hasty exit, but before she could leave, Arin burst into her office. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Arin spat, her eyes blazing with anger. "I'm not sure what you mean," Hazel replied, trying to keep her voice even. "You know exactly what I mean," Arin snapped. He looked around, moved closer to his desk and put his laptop aside. "You called for me." She said again. "Yes I did." Gerald nodded, standing up from his chair. "I called you. So move closer." "And why did you call me? I don't we have anything to do together at least for now. So, why must I come to your office everytime. Hazel stormed into her office, locking the door behind her. She sat on her chair and buried her face in her hands, letting out sobs that wracked her body. She didn't want anyone to see her like this. She didn't want anyone to come and talk to her. Hazel sat at her desk, staring blankly at her computer screen. Tears streamed down her face as she tried to comprehend what had just happened. She had always been paranoid about her secret being revealed to her colleagues at work. Arin had threatened her to tell everyone if she continued a relationship with Gerald and she knew she could do as she said but still, she wasn't expecting her to do it. It was not only embarrassing but unprofessional. Being a kleptomaniac has always been something that she had been ashamed of. It was a disorder that she couldn't control and she had been trying hard to get rid of it. Hazel couldn't believe it. She felt incredibly exposed, vulnerable, and embarrassed. Unfortunately, her peace was soon disr

"Mr. Wilson, it is time for your final defense to present any evidence supporting your innocence," he declared, his voice resonating through the room. Mark Wilson's attorney, a middle-aged man with graying hair, rose from his seat, his expression anxious. He glanced towards Mark, his eyes filled with unease, and then nervously addressed the judge. Gerald closed the door behind him and leaned against it, feeling exhausted and drained. He had just spent hours at the police station with his lawyer, Mr. James, trying to prove that Mark was the one who had been blackmailing Hazel, his fiancee, for months. Gerald rubbed his eyes and sighed. He looked at his watch and saw that it was past midnight. He wondered if Hazel was still awake, waiting for him. He pushed himself away from the door and walked towards their bedroom, hoping to find her asleep in their bed. He reached the bedroom door and opened it quietly, not wanting to wake her up if she was sleeping. He stepped inside and saw her sitting on the bed, wearing a white nightgown that contrasted with her dark hair. She looked up at him with wide eyes that reflected the moonlight coming through the window. The room was cold, with gray walls and a flickering fluorescent light overhead, casting an eerie glow on the worn-out furniture. Officer Jacobs, a middle-aged man with a stern expression, entered the room. He had a no-nonsense demeanor that intimidated even the most composed individuals. He approached Mark, handcuffs in his hand. "Mark Wilson, if I get that right, you're under arrest for the alleged blackmail of Mr. Gerald Carrington Fraser's fiancée," Officer Jacobs declared, his voice firm. Mark's eyes widened with what seemed like disbelief. "What? No, Officer, you've got it all wrong. I would never do such a thing! I was in my room when these two men barged in. Firstly, I could have charged them for invasion of privacy, but I didn't. Now, they are accusing me of what? This is what we

And here she was again, the fact that she hid it from everyone will make it seem as though she was trying to cover up for herself. "Why are you silent? Speak up! You need to say something." Gerald said, almost yelling. "I don't want to care what happened. Just tell me in details. Who is Mark and why is he blackmailing you? It is had simple as that."
