In her distressed state, she started her long trek. But little did she know that someone had been watching her from the other end of the street all along. She had only been walking for about a minute when the young man on a bike stopped by her side.
"Hello, pretty," the young man said to her. He had seen her in distress and figured that he could be of help to her.
She took a quick glance at him and continued on her way. She cursed herself for attracting handsome men, as all they brought her was trouble, starting with Don Nick. Actually, Emily could see from the stature of the man that Don Nick was nothing compared to him, but Emily did not give a damn about it. She was done admiring any man.
"Hold on a minute, will you?" he appealed.
She stopped and replied kindly. "Good morning, sir. Can I help you in any way?"
Looking at the way the young man appeared on his very expensive bike, Emily feared that he might be security personnel in this rich estate and was out to get her for wandering in such a high-class area. Her heart continued to race as she continued talking to him.
"I have been watching you," he said, smiling at the pretty lady before him. She does not appear sophisticated, but he could tell that with a little brush up, no lady would be able to stand her. However, when he noticed her uneasy countenance, he added. "Not as if I want to, but I cannot help it."
"Oh..." Emily murmured. He seemed too polite for a security man who intends to harass her, and this realization calmed her nerves a bit.
"Where are you going?" he asked, and immediately added. "Sorry, I am A. X."
Emily did not quite get his name, so she asked. "Alex?"
"No, A. X. initials," he corrected. “But Alex is still okay, it is up to you” he added.
"Oh... I would be more comfortable with Alex..." she said nervously. To her, A. X. as initials sounded more like Alex, and she saw no reason why she must stick with the first.
He giggled. "Sure, I’ve got no problem with that. So, where are you headed?" he inquired once again.
"Home..." she replied and continued on her way. She doesn’t have all day, and if she wants to be home soon, then she mustn't spend a second extra talking to a random stranger.
"Hey, wait, you have not even told me your name," he demanded, driving his bike slowly after her.
"Emily," she replied without stopping.
"So where are... sorry, where do you live?" he inquired.
At this point, Emily stopped. It’s unlike her to be rude to people, so she might as well stop and give him the answers he needed so that he can let her be. "Pacific Slides," she replied.
She felt completely out of place after she mentioned her locality. Pacific Slides and William Fox Courts are like two sides of the same coin, and as a resident of Pacific Slides, she has no business here unless, of course, as a domestic worker.
"Pacific Slides!" he almost exclaimed.
This time, Emily left him and continued on her way. He soon caught up with her and said "But then, you are on the wrong track. If you are going to Pacific Slides, it should be the other way. This path leads you out of the Court and into the ocean; I mean the side of the beach," he explained.
Emily stopped and looked back at where she had come from. She struggled to hold back the tears that were forcing their way out. She could not believe that she had wasted all these walks under the hostile sun for nothing.
"Oh... that..." she could only mumble in distress.
The stranger hesitated for a while before he spoke. "See, I can get you home if you don’t mind. If you intend to trek back, it might take an eternity," he offered. "But if you insist on taking a cab, then I must warn you that the traffic ahead has built up so dangerously that you might spend a couple of hours in it," he warned.
"I can manage," Emily mumbled, even though she has no idea where to go from there.
"I insist, Emily," A. X. said to the pretty lady in front of him.
Calculating her odds, which for some reason unknown to Emily had not been in her favour for the past twelve hours, Emily finally decided what to do, and without another word to the man in front of her, she hopped on the bike.
Standing in front of the door, Emily mumbled a silent prayer before reaching for the knob and grabbing it with all the courage she could muster. This was the first time that she would be spending a night outside her home, and she could not even think of the doom that awaited her inside.Within the few seconds that it took her to turn on the knob and open the door, her mind wandered around all that had happened from last night to this present time. She had happily gone to the party with Samantha, and there she had met the most sought-after CEO. She had so much to drink, and since it was her first time, she got herself drunk. Her day had ended with her spending a night out. When she was done reminiscing, she agreed that truly, so many things happened to her for the first time between yesterday and today. That is, in a span of twelve hours. For the first time, she went out with Samantha, attended her first real party, took alcohol, got drunk, spent a night outside her home, and had her f
"Mo... ther" Emily stuttered."Yes, Emily, where were you all night, and why are you just returning home at this time? It is already midday," Elise Lee asked with a disdainful look fixed on Emily."Mother, I am sorry; I had just too much to drink at the party," the distraught Emily apologized.Elise Lee walked down the staircase majestically and came over to them. She looked at Emily from up to down and hissed. "Loser..."Emily cast her face downward and could not dare to look up at Elise. "I... I am... sorry," she muttered apologetically.Hearing Emily speak, Elise flared up. "Shut up, you nonentity; keep your forsaken apology to yourself and your useless mother."Emily knew that it would come to this, but sadly, she had not prepared herself for it. She knew where this was going, and she does not want to go there with it. Her stepmother, Elise Lee, is a bag of trouble; no, she is a truckload of it, and Emily must excuse herself."Ehm... I think I will be in my room now," Emily said.
The terrified Emily drew back in fear and did not know when she let go of her dress, which she had been trying to cover with her hand."Oh, it has gotten to fighting with your mother. You have grown wings in my house overnight," Oscar Lee interrogated.Elise and Samantha both threw a satisfied gaze at themselves, and Elise winked at Samantha in the process. It gladdened their hearts to see Emily completely helpless before Oscar Lee, her father."No... no... daddy. It is not what you think. She was going to slap me even after she had ripped my dress apart," Emily explained in fear, now using one hand to hold her neck, which was already completely red.Emily can stand up to anything, but not to her father. She had grown up to fear him and had never dared to go against him for a day. So far, he has always tried to be compassionate towards her and has tried as much as he can to shield her from the evil duo of mother and daughter.Nevertheless, Emily knew what Oscar Lee could do if stepped
Emily walked down the staircase and went over to Samantha, who was busy with her phone. "Hey Samantha," she greeted.Without saying a word, Samantha took a glance at her and continued with her phone. Emily ignored her silent treatment and went to sit on the sofa close to her."I just spoke to Tyler, and I think I owe you my appreciation," Emily began.Hearing her, Samantha giggled and mumbled some inaudible words disrespectfully.Emily went on. "He said you told him that I was tired and was still sleeping. Thanks a lot."At this point, Samantha took a sharp glance at her and responded. "Unlike you, I care about the image of our family. There was no way I would admit that you are a whore."Emily was hurt by her words, but she chose to ignore them. She had saved her relationship with Tyler, which was admirable. Emily really felt indebted to her."You see, Samantha, I feel so guilty. I wonder if I will be able to live with this guilt." She paused for a while. "I don’t know if I will be a
Emily was visibly shaken. She could not understand what was happening to her or why the light seemed to be coming from inside her. She felt so hot inside, and the weird sounds coming from her bones left her in fright and excruciating pain.Amidst her agony, she could not help but fear that this must be a repercussion for her shameful act. She had betrayed Tyler, even though he loved her with everything in him.The moon goddess is a goddess of love. She imagined that she must be Tyler’s mate, and now the moon goddess is fighting for him. She hated herself for not telling him the truth when she had the opportunity to, and now she begs the moon goddess for a second chance. She held her eye tightly closed and gnashed her teeth. She prayed to whatever has power over her to save her from this disaster that was about to consume her.No sooner had it begun than everything was back to normal, and it was as if nothing had happened. Emily was bewildered and could not explain what had just happen
Emily was inside her room when the door suddenly flung open, and Samantha walked in and slammed the door after her."Emily..." Samantha yelled angrily."Samantha, why do you have to walk in like that? You should have at least knocked before entering, or better yet, close the door more gently after you," Emily admonished her little sister softly."This is my house, Emily, and you should be glad that you still have a roof over your head," Samantha yelled in response."Okay, Samantha, what brings you here?" Emily inquired. At this point, Emily decided that there was no need to argue over this as it was apparent that she was here for trouble. At this point, all Emily wanted was for Samantha to get done with her trouble as soon as possible and leave her room."I can as well go into any room I want to; I mustn’t have a reason before I do that," Samantha retorted coldly.Emily inhaled and tried to maintain her cool. Samantha is her younger sister and is a year younger. Yet Samantha has alway
"Samantha!" Emily called out as she gently knocked on the door of Samantha’s room. She could swear that she was hearing Samantha’s voice inside, but she had blatantly refused to open the door for about ten minutes that Emily has been knocking. At this point, Emily decided to intensify her knock to attract Samantha’s attention.Even though Emily was aware that doing so would incur the wrath of the little Lee queen, there was nothing else she could do. She needs to make breakfast, and she cannot wait a second longer.*Knock... knock...* she knocked again, this time a little louder. "Samantha..." she called, her mouth pouting at the door.Much to Samantha’s dismay, Emily has been working at Blue Petals Groups for two weeks now as the front desk personnel, and so far, everything has been going smoothly. But today is not going to be like every other day, because little did Emily know the plan that her sister, Samantha, has hatched for her to frustrate her in her new job.It has not been ea
Much to Emily’s surprise, nothing else happened with Samantha this morning. Everything went on fine, and Samantha did not try to come up with any excuse or complaint to delay her coming to work. So, Emily arrived at the office five minutes earlier, and she could hardly believe her luck.Emily resumed work with so much enthusiasm, hoping that the day would be great for her. Little did she know that her sister, Samantha, has a truckload of bombs waiting to explode. At work, everything went great for the first part of the day, and contrary to everyone’s expectation, the CEO, Don Nick, did not return today. However, Emily’s ugly predicament started when one of her colleagues, a senior at the firm, walked up to her and demanded to send her on an errand."Hey, you..." the lady rudely called out to Emily.Emily did not seem perturbed by the way she had been addressed but went ahead to reply politely. "Miss. Kimberly Xerxes, good morning to you; it's good to see you," she smiled.Kimberly rol
