Chapter 4

Dante's POV

The music blared loudly in my ears; the club was wide awake tonight. I took another shot the burning sensation of alcohol went straight to my head.

“Woah, what's happening tonight? You seem very on edge.” Kyle, my best friend said. Honestly, he was right, since I met that temptress River of a woman. I haven't been stable since.

“Mind your business, Kyle.”

Someone grabbed my arm, I felt her sharp nails jarring into my flesh and I nearly winced in surprise. “Hi baby, I didn't know you'd be in the club tonight.”

I disentangled my hand from her grip and turned to her; it was Amanda, one of the trips I usually mess with. “Hi, I didn't know I'd be coming to the club tonight either.”

She batted her fake heavy lashes at me, and from the corner of my eye, I could see Kyle roll his eyes. But what the hell I need the distraction right now.

I circled her waist with my left arm, pulling her close, but almost immediately, the picture of River flashed before my eyes. But I shook it off.

Amanda pressed herself against me and my body immediately reacted. Maybe this is the distraction I need, although she was nowhere close to River but I needed to get her out of my mind.

The DJ changed the tone to an upbeat tune, and I let Amanda pull me to the dance floor. The club lights flashed around in different colors and myself and Amanda moved in sync.

She ground against me, and I closed my eyes, pretending it was River grinding against me. We danced for how long, and all the while, I still couldn't get River out of my hand.

The heck, why would this happen to me? I had a healthy sex life, and for the last few years, I've had no trouble being unattached. But there's something about that woman, she was like fine wine. The best wine ever, I just had a sip and I'm intoxicated by the woman.

The music changed and Amanda moved even faster, I still had my eyes closed with River's image in my head. But it still wasn't enough; I needed River and her curvy body, not Amanda rubbing her silicon ass against me.

I stilled her movement and whispered in her ear over the loud music.“I need another drink. I'll be back soon.”

She pouted slightly but nodded before responding, “That's okay, I'll wait for you here on the dance floor.”

I quickly left and took a seat by the bar, Kyle wasn't there anymore. I'm sure he was on the dance floor dancing with some chic; I closed my eyes, rubbing my temples, hoping I could chase away my incessant thoughts of River.

I felt a soft tap on my arm, I popped my eyes open to see River standing before me with an angry scowl on her face.

My bodyguards immediately came forward. One grabbed her arm, “Ma'am, you have to leave; Mr Dante isn't signing autographs or taking pictures today.”

I felt a possessive emotion explode in my chest, “Get your damn hands off her, and you're f***ing fired. Anyone who lays a finger on her would immediately lose their job.”

They all immediately shifted as though my words had a literal impact on them. I raised my hand at them “Excuse us.”

They scurried away like mice. River seemed too stunned to speak for a couple of seconds but her angry scowl appeared a few seconds later.

“What the actual he** Dante? I never knew you'd be this petty.”

I arched an eyebrow at her confused. “What are you talking about?” She dug out her phone from her handbag and flashed her screen at me. My vision steadied and I saw a video of her collecting her panties from me at the club and also very hot scenes of her basically undressing me with her eyes.

I couldn't help but laugh, “Sweetheart, I have no hand in this. It's not my fault you find me irresistible.”

Her eyes widened in anger, and thankfully, to my quick sense, I dodged a drink she tried slashing on me.

“Ugh, I hate you so much. You're making me so angry; since I've met you, you've turned my life upside down.”

I can't lie; I do feel bad, but still, I did some research about her earlier, and it's not like she was trying to love me or was some groupie. Judging from how she reacted the first night, she did know who I was, and if she knew, she didn't give a damn.

I stood up from my seat, now towering over her. “Listen River, I didn't do anything weird. And stop acting like the victim, it's not like you. We had the best night, and that's all there is to it. Get over yourself and move on.”

She took a step back like I had just slapped her. I felt weird telling her that, but honestly, I don't understand how easily I'm getting attached to this woman. I have to push her away.

Amanda suddenly appeared beside me, “Hi babe, I've been waiting for you on the dance floor.” She eyed River who still looked like she was in shock.

Wait, could she equally have caught some type of feelings for me as well?

I couldn't let whatever was trying to bud between us blossom. I know I probably shouldn't say what I'm about to but I had to drive the nail home.

I held Amanda by the waist and kissed her passionately, although I felt repulsed; her kiss seemed weird and too wet. When I pulled back, River's face was expressionless.

I tapped Amanda's ass and I could almost swear I felt the silicone jiggle. I turned to River, “Thanks for an amazing night, last night. You may leave.”

She had a hurt expression but I had to do what I had to do. I'm in no way trying to catch feelings for anyone, more so a hot temptress who is just here because her ego is hurt.

“Get the hell out of here. Did you hear him or are you deaf or something.” If I wasn't trying to keep up the charade I would have had Amanda thrown out of the club for speaking to her that way.

River suddenly looked irritated, “Shut up bitch, you're just the flavor of the night.” Amanda gasped; she opened her mouth to speak, but before she could get any words out, River walked away.

I can't lie, that was freaking hot.
