CHAPTER 6
After we are done eating and the waitress already came to pack up our plates, the sun was already setting and a lot of people were still outside, walking their dogs and shit."Before we leave I need to go use the toilet." I told Ivan as I stood up from my seat and then made my way into the toilet. I entered into one of the stalls, did my business and then flushed.I came out of the stall to meet another lady in the bathroom. "Hi." I greeted her."Hi." She smiled back at me.I was about to leave the bathroom when she asked me a question, "sorry, do you by chance have any tampon on you?""Oh yeah sure but I have to grab it out of my purse in the shop." I pointed back at the shop."Thank you." She sighed in relief, "you are a life saver."I quickly exited the bathroom and back to our table to grab the tampon. Ivan was on a phone call and he was whispering hushed oh but sounded angry. I lifted a questioning eyebrow May him but he waved me off. I grabbed my purse and went back into the bathroom.I rummaged through my purse, and then brought out the tampon and handed it to her."Thank you." She stated as she grabbed the tampon and went into one of the stalls.I was about to leave when her voice stopped me, "are you from around here?""Uh, no actually, just vacation.""Oh that's nice.""Yeah." I chuckled."There is a party, near here, it's a private beach house party type of thing. You should come." I heard her flush the toilet and then come out of the stall. She walked towards one of the tap, turned it one and washed her hands under the running waterI asked for the address of the beach house and surprisingly it was near where we were staying. "I'll make sure to come, thanks for the invite." Of course I'll have to ask Ivan to tag along, which he will but not before protesting."No problem. What's your name?""Idalia.""Ruth."And then we shook hands.•••Presently, we're both in the car, Ivan driving, one hand on my thigh while I sat down in the seat, looking straight ahead, arms crossed."I hate it when you're quiet.""Then, let's go to the party." I turned to look at him meeting his eyes as he glanced away, jaw tightened."For the fifteenth time Idalia, no."I exhaled exasperatedly, returning to my former position and staring straight ahead."What if something happens to you if I take my eyes off you for like a minute.""I do not need you to always be guarding me Ivan. I can take care of myself. Besides, the girl said it's just a small party."He sighed, "only because I hate it when you give me the silent treatment." He finally agreed, his hand squeezing my thigh while I grinned at him. It's already dark outside by the time we get to the address the girl, Ruth, provided for us, and loud music was blaring from the inside of the house, while some people could be seen loitering around the front of the house."We won't take long. Don't sulk." I said to Ivan as I held his hand in mine as we both walked to the front door. I opened the door, immediately met with blinding lights and loud music. We both tried to navigate our way into the less crowded part of the house, Ivan directing me with his hands on my waist.I found the bar and decided we could seat there. "Do you want anything to drink?" I asked him as I took my seat."Nah, I'm good.""I'll take two shots with lime." I grinned at the bartender telling him what I wanted while he winked at me and left to prepare my order."I'll gouge his eye out." Ivan muttered under his breath as he glared at the guy."Easy. I'm here with you aren't I?" I held his hand in mine as he shook his head. The bartender brought back my drink and was about to make a comment when Ivan glared at him before he scurried off to attend to someone else."You sure you don't want to take one shot?" I asked loudly over the music and he shook his head."Okayyy, suit yourself." And I downed both shots one after the other. I looked it ver to Ivan to see him already staring at me, a small smile on his face, shaking his head in amusement.I grab my phone and send a text to the girl to tell her we are here and her reply comes no longer than a minute later. Almost there. She replied.I put my phone inside my purse and glanced at Ivan, "let's dance." I stood up as I grabbed him from his seat.He grunted, "come on, don't be a big baby." I grinned as I pulled him all the way to the dance floor. In no time, I start moving my body to the music and I'm all over him while he just stands behind me, watching me intensely. After some minutes I look around and I saw the girl watching me a grin on her face as she gives me a thumbs up. I laughed and then grabbed Ivan's hand and then made our way to where she was."Hi!" I greeted. She stood up and then pulled me into a hug."Hi. So glad you could make it." She stated. We took our seats as she introduced the guy with her. "This is my boyfriend, Daniel. Daniel this is Idalia and her boyfriend.""Hi. It is nice to meet you." The boy gave a polite smile."Likewise.""I need to go and make a phone call outside, I'll be back soon okay?" Ivan whispered near my ears."Okay." And he left."Do you guys need anything to drink?" Her boyfriend asked both of them."I'll have what you're having." She told her boyfriend and he glanced at me, "water is fine. Thank you.""So are you guys like married or what?" She asks me, a smile on her face."Married?!" I ask incredulously, "no, we're far from that actually." I chuckle nervously as I gazed around the room, taking in everyone as they prounce around the room."So what's the deal with you two?""We're...friends. Sort of.""Yeahhhh no not possible.""What? Why not?""Firstly, it took you a while to come up with the word friends and secondly have you seen the way that man looks at you. Girl." She clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth.I wanted to ask precisely what she meant by that but I held back, I did not want to get my hopes up about whatever it is she had to say. It would have been nice seeing them from someone else's point of view apart from her brother and her dad."We're not together together. You get what I mean?""Ohhhh so you guys are just what...fucking?"I blushed, "haven't gotten there yet."Her eyes widened, "so just kisses?""Amongst other things." I shrugged."Girl...." She trailed off as they buth burst out into laughter. It was nice having someone to talk to about boys apart from Gabriel. That skwang."So does he know?" She asked suddenly"Know what?"Her boyfriend came back with her drink and my water. I smiled at him as I grabbed the car and took a sip from my water."That you have feelings for him." She put her straw in her mouth and sipped from her drink, her eyes on mine, like she's dating me to lie about it."I-I haven't told him yet, but I will...soon.""You better. You're a badass." She praised me.CHAPTER 7After spending about half an hour at the party, Ivan practically dragged me out of the house, saying he needed his sleep. That was an obvious lie, the guy never sleeps. Always works like a maniac, just like my elder brother.Immediately after entering the house, Ivan locked the door and made sure it was properly locked before we both went upstairs to where the bedroom is. I dropped myself on the bed with a loud grunt. "Do you need to use the shower before me?" he asked as he removed his shoes and placed them neatly beside the bed."No. It's okay, you go in first." I replied but my voice came out muffled since I was face flat on the bed. I heard him chuckle before entering into the bathroom and then after some minutes the shower started running. I was almost about to fall asleep when an idea popped into my head. I quickly stood up from the bed, and undressed, picked up a white towel, wrapping it around my body. I mentally prepared myself for what I was about to do. I mean sh
CHAPTER 8FIVE YEARS LATER (Present time)"You know if you keep bugging father about going to the warehouse with me or any of the guys, he will hasten his process on finding you a husband." My older brother Dante stated as he continued working on his laptop, his chair swirling left and right. The warehouse isn't working on exactly a warehouse it's just code for like a huge basement that isn't actually underground."You know about that?" I scrunched up my nose. "I know about everything. I am the oldest." "What, and you agree with it?""Agree with what?""Finding me a suitable husband." I air quoted around the husband. "We are not in the 18th century anymore.""The world we are born into is." he shrugged. "I will make sure it is not an asshole he gets for you. I promise." he promised."Back to the main topic, you can just sneak me in. He doesn't have to know about it." "He will skin me alive once he finds out his princess has been to the warehouse." I rolled my eyes. "You're exagg
CHAPTER 9My father called an emergency meeting with the rest of the people working with him and presently the house is filled with a whole lot of people wearing black suits and black tie. My father's main guards made sure none of the other people wandered into the main house but still, my personal guard won't stop being a pain in the ass, "Miss Bianchi, I think it is advisable for you to be in your room at this time of the day." he said in a monotone voice as he followed me behind my back. Copper is a tall bulky white man, with a bald head and he is always on a suit with sunglasses at all times, mainly when we are outside."I am perfectly fine and I can take care of myself if something happens," he grunts, "and I am sure nothing will happen." I looked back at and gave him a smile as I opened the refrigerator and poured myself a cup of water."Besides, you do know I know how to fight right?""Yeah, but I do not think you would be able to take two large men of my size on your own."I
CHAPTER 10 I was on my third champagne when Gabriel came to meet me by the bar as he sat down on the stool releasing a large exhale, "he says he wants to invest in the company whenever I choose to start it." Did I ever tell you guys I have a genius for a younger brother? He intends on starting is tech company with his best friend once they get enough genuine investors. Dad has been helping in that part mostly, because he does know some really influential people. "Did you agree?""Told him I would get back to him later.""That is smart." I answeresd as i gulped the remainging chmapge in my class."I know. Anyway, what are you going to do about the matchmaking dad is planning for you right now?" He grinned as he gave his order to the bartender."I thought he was going to give me more time. At least five years.""Five years?" Gabriel looked at me like I was mad."Yes."He scoffed, "You would probably get married within three months from now with the rate at which he is going with the d
CHAPTER 11I groaned loudly as I entered into my room, slamming the door. I dropped my bag on the floor and then sat on the bed, my legs apart and my head in between my palms. I should not have done that. I should not have said that to him. I can't believe I said that! It has been seven years since mom died. I was eighteen when she died, it was a rough time for our family and those close to us. Mom had a stalker apparently, but she didn't think it was necessary to tell dad until it got serious. She got abducted and eventually killed. Dad was with her when she died, said he saw her take her last breath and it has haunted him ever since. That's when his overprotectiveness over me started.Me saying what I said, will break his heart. He would be thinking about her death right now and the guilt would be eating him up from inside. My parents loved one another, it was obvious to everyone around us and even our closet family. It was an arranged marriage like father is planning for me and I
The next week was just work, meetings, submitting and signing papers. In that one week I never once saw my dad, there was no glimpse of him. So, that is why after work today I went straight home, like almost every other day, and immediately I changed out of my work clothes, I made my way to his office. I have been practicing my apology for almost a week now and I know he will forgive me, hopefully. I placed a soft knock on the door to his office and then entered after hearing his response. I peeped my head first and when I saw him sitting behind his desk I entered into his office fully. "Hi dad." I greeted as I wringed my hands in front of me feeling nervous.""Hi princess." I heard him say, he used his hands to scrub his face and then release a sigh."I'm sorry about what I said, about mom." I apologized. He looked at me with a small smile on his lips."It's fine princess, you were annoyed. I should not force you to do whatever it is you do not want to do.""No, no, I changed my min
Father hired a woman to set the table while our chef prepared the meal for the dinner that is holding today. Father decided it was better to have the dinner outside, in the garden. Everyone was in their respective rooms getting ready while my playlist sounds in the background as I get ready. After curling my hair, I start to apply my makeup. I quickly check the time from my phone and notice that I have less than thirty minutes before the Volkov's arrive. After my makeup was done, I quickly walked into my walk in closet and brought out the dress Alexander sent to me. It was a dark red halter neck, floor length dress. To be honest, the dress is really beautiful, I am surprised someone like him was able to pick something like this. I stepped into the dress, zipped up myself and then wore my heels. I glanced at myself in the mirror before I made my way outside. I opened the doors that led into the garden and the chilled air, beat against my skin, making goosebumps to rise. My dad and G
I walked into my office with my handbag in hand, I opened the door to my office and the first thing I see is a large bouquet of fresh tulips sitting on my desk. I frown because I can not think of anyone sending me flowers, especially tulips, only people close to me know I prefer white tulips instead of white roses. I quickly shut the door to my office, to prevent any of my coworkers from seeing the large bouquet. I notice there is a card on the flower, I open it but there's no name just a message, To a new start.Definitely Ivan. It has been a week since we had the dinner and I found out that I am supposed to be engaged to Ivan instead of Alexander. For a moment I considered throwing the bouquet away but decided against that idea. I rolled my eyes, threw the note away but carried the flowers off my table and placed them away from any eyes of anyone that enters into my office. I brought out my laptop from my bag and start the day's work as I log in into the company's portal. Being
