"Aargh!" Megan screamed as they both fell into the pool together. She could not swim, as she opened her mouth to tell Mr. Valenti, water filled her mouth. She struggled for breath and to stay afloat but she only drowned the more. A pair of hands wrapped around her waist and lifted her up and out of the pool. She was on the floor coughing and when it finally subsided, she looked up and he was looking at her. So he was the one who saved her, of course, it would be him as they were the only ones in here. His body was wet, his dark blue suit was soaked and his hair had fallen over his head. He was still looking like a Greek god. She wondered what she looked like.
He crouched down to where she was sitting on the floor. "Are you alright?" He asked. "I'm fine." She told him while avoiding his eyes. She could not believe this happened to her client. How could she be so reckless? She questioned herself. He stood up at his full length. "What the hell were you doing walking around the edge of the pool like that when you can't swim? What if I wasn't here and you fell and drowned?" Mr. Valenti hollered. Megan looked at him in shock, he was shouting at her like that when he was the one who caused it. If he did not scare her like that, she wouldn't have fallen into the pool. "Why are you yelling at me? It's not my fault I can't swim, besides, you were the one who scared me." She said, her voice cracking as she felt a tear sliding down her cheek. "Are you crying?" He exclaimed. He was staring at her in astonishment. "No, I'm not." She croaked, wiping her face which was already wet. She brushed her long hair that fell over her face and tried to stand up only for her to fall back with a yelp. Mr. Valenti was already by her side, holding her so she wouldn't fall hard. The pain in her ankle increased because she attempted to stand up. "Are you okay? Do you feel pain anywhere?" He asked seeming concerned. "My feet hurt. I think I twisted my ankle when we both fell into the pool." She replied as Mr. Valenti helped her up to stand with his support because she was limping. "We need to take you to the hospital so you can treat your leg and get a change of clothes." He told her. "You don't have to worry about me. Julie can take me home and you also need to change your clothes." Her eyes darted to his expensive handmade shoes. "I will compensate you for your clothes and shoes." "Julie has left. Don't worry about me, you come first." Megan's heart skipped a beat as she heard those words. Brandon has never said this to her throughout their years of dating. When they go out, he doesn't open the car door for her or put her first. But now, a stranger has said those words she had been dying to hear her boyfriend say to her. "This won't do." He said and before she could understand what he meant by that, he had lifted her into his arms like the way a man carries his bride. Her hands wrapped around his neck unconsciously. "Mr. Valenti... What are you doing?" She exclaimed in surprise. He looked her in the eyes. "Leonardo." "What?" "Call me that instead of Mr. Valenti. Leonardo Valenti is my full name. Besides, I have enough money to pay for my clothes." His voice was deep. She felt his chest vibrate as he spoke. His face was so close to hers that she could see how hot he was. "What will the others outside think when they see you carrying me like this?" "Do you want to walk all the way outside with a leg like this? Your shirt is also transparent because it is wet. Surely, you do not want the others outside to see you looking like that." He used her words against her. Megan looked down at her chest and her white chiffon shirt was indeed transparent. Her eyes widened and her cheeks turned red. "Oh." Was all she could say as embarrassment washed over her. At least she wore black trousers which are not transparent. His foot began to move and he carried her out of the indoor swimming pool. As they came out, she heard gasps and some of them looked at the both of them in surprise at their wet clothes and Leonardo carrying her in his arms. Leonardo kept walking till they reached the entrance and outside the house, not minding the attention on them. She also caught a glimpse of Mr. Earnest's surprised expression. There was an SUV parked at the entrance and his driver rushed and opened the back door when he saw Leonardo striding towards the car. He placed her gently in the back seat and went to take something from the back. He handed her a piece of cloth like a quilt. She took it from his and covered her body. He rounded the car and entered beside her. Mr. Earnest brought her bag and handed it to her. The engine of the car roared to life and they started their journey to the hospital. On arrival, Leonardo insisted a wheelchair be provided even with her opposition to the idea. The nurses quickly brought one and they wheeled her inside. Luckily, it was minor and would take a few days to heal with special care and medication. The doctor bandaged the affected area. She called Julie who was on her way to pick her up. The doctor who knew Leonardo admitted her to a private room where she could stay until Julie arrived. "Thank you." She said when he was about to leave the hospital room. He turned around. "For what?" "For helping me. I appreciate." According to what she had read about him online, they described him as a ruthless man and someone who would not hesitate to destroy a business. But seeing him help her like this is making her doubt the online articles. "I did not expect you to be this kind." A hard look came on his face. "Don't thank me for I am not kind. I do things for a reason and this one is not excluded." He turned around and left the room."What did I always tell you about pools?" Julie yelled at her and smacked her in the hand."Ouch!" Megan whined, pouting pitifully, lowering her gaze."You know you can't swim but decided to explore near a pool. You should have called me to accompany you."She glanced at Julie still pouting. "You were busy, so how could I disturb you when I'm the one who sent you on the errand."Julie placed her hand on her head and sighed. She crouched down to examine her bandaged leg as Megan was sitting on the bed in the private room that Mr. Valenti, placed her in. "Does it hurt so much?" She asked worriedly and looked up at her.Megan shook her head but still answered. "No. It does not hurt me so much as when it freshly happened. But I can still walk out without a wheelchair. With some support though.""A wheelchair?"Megan nodded." Leonardo made me use one when we arrived at the hospital.""Leonardo? "She gasped with her eyes wide she stood up and sat on the bed beside her. "Are you on a first-n
After what happened in the hospital hallway. Julie took to her car and drove her home. As soon as they were inside Megan's house and she had settled down. Julie made a hot cup of coffee for her with enough cream. Julie handed the cup to her and she took it from her."Are you okay?" She asked. Her face was a mask of concern.Megan could only nod, she held the hot cup in her hand relishing in the distraction that came from the hotness of the cup."I knew that guy was a bastard and a good-for-nothing man. He had always been an asshole." She knew Julie was saying all those things so she would feel better. It helped though. However, she was too embarrassed and ashamed to even utter a word. She had just finished defending him a moment before that happened. How could she be so stupid and foolish? She lowered her head."Just say the word Megan and I will kill him. I will inject him with arsenic. Jail is not a problem for me to go to if my mother receives all my savings."Megan raised her head
The taxi stopped in front of the large and beautiful Italian restaurant. Megan paid the driver and got out of the taxi. The taxi sped off leaving her standing there. It has been a week since she saw Brandon in the hospital with that mysterious pregnant woman. He only called her once and she did not pick up, he did not bother to call her again, nor try to visit her since a week ago. How did she date that asshole for four years and think she was in love with him. Her leg has healed almost completely. Leonardo Valenti invited her for lunch at this nice Italian restaurant to apologize for what happened in his house since she said it was his fault. She felt sorry for blaming him now she has no choice but to accept his invitation for a meal together. Julie had strictly warned her not to drive, therefore the reason for the taxi.Megan was wearing a white blouson dress and a brown coloured trench coat, she wore a white sandal heel and carried a white purse. Her hair was in a messy bun. The he
She was lost for words at his statement. Like? How? If he likes her then why can't Brandon also like her like this? "I don't want to talk about this." She said when she got herself back from his raw confession. "Alright. I won't pressure you now but that doesn't mean I will stop trying." His eyes held an unspoken promise. "Are you ready to go?" She stared dumbfounded at him. What was wrong with this man? Why was he so straightforward? Why was she reacting to his words and why did it feel like there were butterflies in her stomach? Her heart was beating fast. "You will have to not bother trying at all because you still won't get me." She tried to discourage him. He was handsome, rich, and sexy. He was the perfect candidate to use to make Brandon jealous as Julie had said but she did not want to use him like the way Brandon used her. He could find better girls than her who would love him and not use him for selfish purposes. That would simply make her to be like Brandon. Leonardo Vale
As soon as Megan confirmed that Leonardo had left, she went outside and hailed a taxi. She got inside and gave the driver Julie's house address. It was already approaching evening when she arrived at Julie's house. Megan wasn't even sure if she was at home, it was Saturday and she could be out partying or having fun. She rang the doorbell for her house and in a few seconds the door opened and Julie was there in a baggy white shirt and pink shorts. When she saw her it was as if a dam opened and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Julie..." She cried and ran into her waiting arms. Julie held her there and let her sob till she calmed down. "What happened Megan?" She questioned curiously after her cries had reduced."He- he embarrassed me. I saw them in the restaurant I went to with Leonardo. He denied me, oh God." Her sobbing increased again and Julie took her to her comfortable sofa. She sat her down and Julie sat beside her. "Calm down and tell me what happened."She slowly took deep br
"What the fuck!" She screamed out. Brandon was sitting on her couch. She held her chest, he scared the shit out of her. He looked so relaxed like it was his house. How the hell did he get in and what was he here for? He did not bother calling her or texting her, now he is in her house. To do what? She thought he was a robber or a stalker with his all-black outfit. "Where have you been Megan?" Megan blinked repeatedly. Was she dreaming? Or has Brandon simply run mad? "You really have the balls to come to my house. How did you even get in?" Then she remembered she had told him her password before. "Were you with that man I saw at the restaurant?" He scanned her body to her face looking disgusted. "Did you sleep with him? You are still wearing the same clothes from yesterday and your hair is messy." "Are you sick in the brain? You must be mad from what I am seeing. After cheating on me, you are asking me if I slept with a man when you made a girl pregnant while dating me for what
As soon as the door banged shut, she exhaled deeply. Megan did not know what had come over her. The rubbish he was spilling and the pain from his betrayal was what also fuelled her anger. She did not realize she could be like that or defend herself like that. She walked to the house telephone on her dining wall and dialed the security number for the building she was living in. In a few minutes, they had changed the password to her house. She flopped on her bed, exhausted from the activities that took place that day. She had changed into a more comfortable cloth. Her phone rang and she stared at the caller. It was Julie. She picked it up."Hey, Megan. Hope you arrived safely?" Her cheery voice sounded over the phone. "Yeah, I did. You made sure of that. Are you back yet?" Julie chuckled. "That's true. I just got back from the grocery store."Megan went silent for a while, she was debating if she should tell Julie. "What's wrong," Julie asked as if sensing her hesitation."Brandon wa
Animated conversations and laughter filled the air as Megan stepped into the ballroom of Leonardo's house where the housewarming party was held. The place was bathed in golden warm light. The guests here wore casual clothes, nothing too grand since it was just a small party. The dress code was casual. Megan wore a short green one-shoulder dress with a pleated tulle skirt which stopped above her knee, she paired it with a vintage strappy white sandal heel. It was simple and not noticeable, her makeup was light too. Her father who was at her side wore casual clothes. She spotted the large sculpture that broke before which was now repaired. It stood elegantly in the center of the ballroom. It was a beautiful and unique sculpture and it made the room seem more grand. She thought if she returned it to Georgiou Alexpoulos for repair he would send it back angrily. Luckily that was not the case, instead, he repaired and added more designs to it and sent it back within two days! That was rare
"Stop fidgeting, everything is going to be alright." Julie tried calming her down but it was not working. She had been anticipating this day two months ago and had been calm all those months, but why was she now so nervous? Today was her wedding day with Leo. The both of them had decided to get married quickly since that was what they were originally doing before they broke up. They decided to get married in Hawaii, and their wedding was private, with only family, friends, and a few close business associates."I don't know why I am like this." She almost sobbed out. "Everything is perfect but I cannot still phantom the fact that I am finally getting married." Her voice was low. Julie, who was wearing her light pink silk bridesmaid dress, grabbed her shoulder and turned her to face the long-standing mirror in the bridal waiting room at the luxury resort where the wedding was being held. "Look at how beautiful and perfect you look," Julie said.Megan stared at herself. She really loo
"Paris! Paris was the place you were taking me to?" She gasped in sheer shock. When they arrived at the airport, she was too stunned to speak, and now that they are in the Eiffel Tower, she is finally able to regain herself. He had taken them straight here and did not even stop at a hotel. Not that she was complaining, though; it was just crazy and nerve-racking."Yeah. Do you like it?" Leo asked her from across the table. They were at a restaurant in Eiffel Tower, and their table was in a corner that was away from the rest of the restaurant. "Yes. I love it." She replied happily."Would you like to order now?" She nodded and took the menu. A few minutes later, she had ordered, and their food had arrived. "Thank you for bringing me here. I really love it." "We can come here anytime you want to. Besides, you are no longer afraid of the height so it won't be a problem coming here again." He said, his voice had a teasing note. She glared at him playfully. "Did you have to mention th
"Why don't you go and continue living with him? I mean, what is the point of coming back to your father's house in the night when you spend the whole day at his house? Also, you keep yapping on about how he is treating you well." Julie ranted.Megan gasped. "What the fuck, Julie? I am not yapping. What am I? A dog?" She exclaimed in disbelief."At this point, you have been sounding like one these days." Megan glared at her and Julie turned away from her. She clicked her tongue and continued speaking. "Anyways, I want to move in soon with Leo." "Do it already. I am sure you have been dying to do just that since you got back together." Julie turned to her, all sign of playfulness gone and her expression turned serious. "What about the wedding? Are you guys going to continue ahead with it?""Oh, the wedding... We are not rushing things right now and we want to take it slow to see how it goes." She said. However, that was not what she was feeling right now. She wished the wedding would
Her driver slowly approached Leo's house; she just remembered that she did not have the remote to his gate because she had left it in his house before all of this started. The driver stopped at the front of his automatic iron wrought gate, she saw the driver glance at her through the rearview mirror."I know. I will do it myself." She came down from the and walked towards the small digital object near the gate. She stood in front of it. A small device near the gate scanned her face, and then the gate opened. She went back into the car and her driver drove inside the house. Leo actually still left her facial ID in his security system. He was actually expecting her to come. Is that why he also refused to send her clothes and belongings back to her? She had been expecting her clothes and belongings, but she did not want to contact him. Was that what he was expecting? That man was really sly. The car pulled up to the front of the house and Megan was about to come down when the driver's
Megan stepped down from the car that her father's driver drove her to the hospital with and immediately cursed under her breath. She was just coming back from the hospital for her checkup, according to her doctor, she is now able to do normal things since it has been five weeks since she had her surgery. Although she still feels tired sometimes it was bearable. Her medication was still one of her enemies at the moment; it still made her feel drunk and groggy sometimes. She missed feeling sane and normal.Back to what she was angry about right now, another set of bouquets was being taken into her father's house together with a gift bag. Was he not tired? It has been a whole month since she came back from the hospital and also the same time when the gifts and flowers started invading her father's house. Walking into the house, she headed to the place where the flowers are always kept, the dining room. This time, the bouquet was not as big as the others. The flowers have been so much th
He needed to get his wits together. If only he could try harder, then maybe she would come back to him. The reason why he has not yet gone to see her, even though he almost has plenty of times, was because her father was the one who advised him not to rush things, especially with Megan. Peter Zendel told him that whenever stuff like this happened, it was best to give her space and not rush things because she might regret any hasty decision she makes, so it was better to let her decide on her own. The only thing that had been keeping him sane was knowing the fact that she was doing fine and alright. He was getting feedback on her health from his friend, Juan, whom he recommended to Megan's father. It was not all because he wanted to watch her. That was why he recommended Juan; it was also because he wanted her to be in good health, and he was aware that she needed a very healthy diet, and Juan was the best option. As for the letters he was sending, he will have to write better. S
It was not just any letter like the one he had been sending to her for a while. It was a handwritten letter of their memories together. How did Leo, who is a businessman, think of something like that? It was so nice, and she did not want to acknowledge it. She could not and she will not acknowledge it. This one was written of their time in the London Eye. He wrote every detail of how she was happy, scared, and sad at the same time. His writing was so accurate that if she did not know him, she would have thought that he probably paid a pro or writer to do it for him or that he bought it. Nevertheless, this was too accurate to not be true. She did not know that Leo was keeping all the memories so stored deeply inside his heart and head. She remembered that time so well even though she did not. She finished reading the letter and her heart was beating fast not in a bad way but in a good way. She dropped the letter in the waste bin, and after a few minutes, she went back to pick it up.
It has been weeks now and she was frustrated. The whole house was filled up with flowers and a nice fragrance, not that she was complaining about the fragrance. Ever since she came to her father's house, Leo has not stopped sending flowers and letters of apology. She wondered how he knew about her current location. She had dismissed the bodyguards that he hired for her because she no longer needed them as she was staying at her father's house. Megan also released to the media that she was sick, which was the reason for the cancellation of their wedding. The day she was supposed to get married, which was yesterday, has passed, and she was still working on her health in her father's house. The wedding cancellation news was the only way to protect them both from criticism; the media still thinks that they are together; she left it that way because Leo would be heavily criticized for leaving her when she was sick and at her lowest. She wanted to wait till everything die down before she r
Delphine drew back in surprise. "Huh? You have broken up with Leo?" Megan shook her head. "No, I did not break up with him. We are only taking a break for now. We need some time to think about our relationship." She explained her lie. She and Leo are not taking any breaks, but they have broken up. More like she broke up with him but she did not want to tell his mother that when she knows how much Delphine loves her and sees her like her daughter. She did not have the guts to break her heart.Delphine sighed heavily. "Oh. It's Leo, right? He is the reason for this break that you talk about." When she saw that Megan was not answering her she continued. "There is no need for you to defend him; I know my son, and I know what he can do. He sometimes is careless and does not know how to value the precious things around him. He also makes some mistakes that are unbelievable and he is not perfect. I don't know what he must have done but I want to tell you that you should follow your heart an
