-RAINA'S POV-

“Miss. Raina, are you ready to spar?”

Snapping me out of my reverie was a tall, thickly built blonde warrior. His gray eyes glinted with amusement as he observed me with a smirk.

It was now that I noticed all the other intrigued eyes steadfastly watching to see what would unfold between Valen and me.

“Let's go.” I capped the bottle, resting it between the large twining roots of the tree, and followed the guy onto the field.

A million holes bore into my back with the heat of Valen's eyes stalking me.

Ignore him, Raina. Just ignore him.

The warrior halted and faced me. “Do you want us to shift into our wolf form?”

Swiftly, I shook my head. Letting Hera out would be a big mistake. She'd run to her mate, especially since she wanted to clear his mind of any inhibitions. She'd probably rally that my announcement was done irrationally and that we didn't mean it.

“Tell me your name,” I asserted.

“It's Huckleback,” he heralded.

“Don't go easy on me.”

His lips twitched

-RAINA'S POV- In the blink of an eye, the brunette charged at me. She punched me across the face, catching me off guard. I saw stars and gasped as my head swiped to the side, expelling air. A jarring pain cropped up in my neck and cheeks as I staggered backwards. Blood went down my throat. “The winner gets a date with me!” Valen boomed in a power pose with fists on his waist. The crowd went “Oooooh! Some whistled and cheered. “Go, Kristen!” The blonde from her posse rooted, standing beside Benji on the second floor. So, that was the name of my challenger. I swallowed the blood in my mouth and scoffed. She held a smirk that glinted proudly in her eyes after getting the first hit. By now, phones from people's pockets are popped out, aiming their cameras at us. They surrounded the field like a stadium, some sitting cross-legged on the grass-covered areas. But I don't give a flying flute in their direction. I had to focus on the match. House rules dictated best out of ten or when

-VALEN'S POV- Two scents fluttered around my senses. Raina's bluebell and cherry mate scent triggered that pull for me to rush to her. Then the metallic rich blood odor was inciting Zeus to force himself through just to go to her aid. Holding a hand across her ribs, the door opened, and she staggered over to the bed, sitting down. She groaned against the pain. Her yellow tank top was largely marred by blood and oozing from her lacerations through the sliced garment, over her fingers. Seeing her in pain gutted me, eating at my heart. Shoving the door shut, her head snapped up to see me. Shock elevated her brows and her mouth slightly parted. “I can't deal with you right n ―” Then her eyes rounded to see what I held in my hand. Horrified, she looked like she had seen a ghost. Absolutely horrified. Instinctively, I dropped the doll on the floor and dashed to her side. My emerald green collided with her electric blues. The unsettling gaze she dispensed puzzled me, but I concentrated

-RAINA'S POV- Why is it so easy for miscommunications to occur in relationships? A misunderstanding fluctuated between us. It was one that I wanted to instantly obliterate. I held my breath anticipating what kind of venom Valen was about to spit at me. “That doll was on your dresser when I got here. It caught my attention because of the tag that said Valen Jr. I was curious about it and took it up to examine it. But now I'm confused because it seemed that you were putting the blame on me for something that I know nothing about,” he explained, his lecherous eyes flicked on my lips. “Why would you think that I'd tease you with a doll when I'd rather do that with my kisses?” “Anytime, baby.” Hera cooed in my head, swooning. My cheeks heated up at the sappy scenario he painted. I shrugged and just said, “Because I don't own a doll.” I never did. “So how could one be in my room?” “But it was here,” Valen insisted, staring dead at my eyes. “Swear to me that you are not lying.” I grab

-RAINA’S POV- Hera whimpered, wanting Valen’s attention. My soul protested his abrupt departure. I suppose I should get used to it. In no time, I put on the lacy black underwear set and a yellow, knee-length, floral sundress with V-neck. When I exited the bathroom with the dirty training clothes in my hand, Valen sat hunched on the bed with legs apart and arms on his thighs. “Are you alright?” Concern crossed his features as his eyes stalked me. “Yeah,” I answered flatly, going to the laundry basket in the corner of my all-white walk-in closet. “This can’t be easy for you. Say the word and I’ll shut down Gramlynz.” Valen rose from the bed. “It’s fine.” I opened the basket and dropped the clothes inside. I heard his footsteps drawing closer, bouncing off the white oak Herringbone hardwood floor. Wouldn’t people blame me for eradicating one of the major joys in their lives? How could I take social media from the werewolf kingdom? “When this is over, you and I will go away to an

-RAINA'S POV- Wicked is the curse of my reality that propelled me like an avalanche with eyes pressed open. Gravity pulled me down. Hurtling through endless blobs of peach-colored clouds. The finale was obscured and where this leads, I was not sure. Like a shot-down aircraft, I rapidly descended. My chest tightened, constricting the air that I struggled to inhale into my lungs. Falling without a parachute. No safety net below. No bungee cords attached to my waist. No skydiving trainer latching me to him like a baby kangaroo. Falling into a bloodthirsty abyss or maybe not. More miles of white clouds to go. I screamed so much that my throat became scratchy, hoarse, and dry. Yet, I could not control my mouth's shrieks or outcries. Not when hollow dread was gnawing inside of me from the worst roller-coaster ride of my life. Where was Valen? Where am I? Who is doing this? My brain struggled to understand what was going on. My heartbeat frantically hammered in my chest. Suddenly t

-RAINA’S POV- “Show yourself! Don’t just hide.” Valen’s gruffly demanded, swiveling around. “You have no authority here, Alpha Prince.” The feminine voice returned with a giggle. “You brought us here, so come out and talk to us.” I tried to sound amicably. No one answered. No one was sighted. There was no rustling of trees or sounds of animals. Only the bitter brumal breeze and us. I looked up at Valen with wide unsure eyes and admitted, “I’m actually scared now.” “The gods usually make some sort of deal. Even if it was Cronus, I believe he should offer you a way to redeem yourself.” His gentle words gave me a little hope. The heat that glistened off the water's surface caressed my skin, coaxing and inviting. I anticipated feeling the hot water against my flesh and hopefully, it will ease my mind and body from this suspenseful tension. Valen lowered me to my feet on a red pebbled ground. The orange-agate crown-shaped boulders surrounding the spring resembled a California popp

-RAINA’S POV- Hearing Valen's voice, I wrenched my gaze away from his obscured nether region. I had completely forgotten where we were. “Is this your so-called date?” I wondered, dragging my eyes up the length of his body. “I think you are trying to seduce me.” A masculine satisfaction flickered in his emeralds, and he drew closer until a wafer-thin sliver of stream and water separated our bodies. “I’m always trying to seduce you.” My chest fluttered and my cheeks started to flush. A helpless giggle left me and lust for him formed in my belly. It was overwhelmingly terrifying how much I loved him. By the time I left here, I was sure to have a love hangover. For a fleeting moment, I felt his hardness brush the natural swell of my lower belly beneath the water. My thighs impulsively clenched together. I stared back into his regal features, his jet black hair flowing inches past his broad shoulders that were getting wavier from the vapors of the spring. “I’m desperately, insanely at

-VALEN’S POV- The barrage of the shooting lightning was horridly nerve-wracking. Raina's normally smooth face was wrought with wrinkles due to an ocean of fear possessing her. “Shift now!” I commanded her with a little too much force. She winced, but obeyed. Willing the shift onwards, instantly my shoulders hunched and I collapsed forward. In a matter of seconds, my bones realigned themselves. Fur sprouted from my pores. The ticklish sensations vanished quickly as claws jutted from my limbs into enormous paws. My canines elongated and a rush of overpowering scents and hearing became predominant. Casting off the last vestiges of the shifting sensation, I suppressed Zeus' temptation to howl in excitement at beholding his beautiful oxblood wolf mate, Hera. "We must get her to safety. Concentrate." I chastised him and he agreed. Hera was extremely gorgeous, but she had dread written all over her. Crunching on the red pebbles, she padded over to me, wagging her fluffy tail. Never see Raina, my mate, again in any lifetime, get it?”“I will, and I shall,” Gustav challenged."Shut the fuck up," I boomed with such immense power that the temple shivered, and foggy dust shot backwards. At my fastest speed, my feet thrust from the ground and I darted at him, too quick for him to dodge the clasp of my hand clutching his neck. I hoisted him off the ground by his throat, letting his feet dangle as they desperately searched for solid ground, while mine took root on the floor."You feeling tough now?" I growled with hatred in my voice. The Worgen extended his claws and sank them into my arm, piercing them deep until they hit the bone and my blood trickled out, splattering the floor. Because of that, I hurled him to the ground. He coughed and gasped for air, while struggling to stand up.

-VALEN’S POV-“Gustav!” I roared, nakedly stomping through the circular pillars with Zuzu perched on my right shoulder. “Get out here!”Chasing him brought me to Pindus in Greece at the Temple of Zannos. It was an albescent-white, Doric-styled, pentagon-shaped building that lacked care and was covered with limestone dust. On the walls were featured engravings of weapons and symbols that I also recognized were identical to the ones that were inscribed on the Worgens' foreheads.“No need to be so loud, Alpha Prince.” Gustav groused with his back to me. The hem of his cream trench coat carpeted the ground, right next to his enormous sword. “Even the gods can hear you shouting.”Up ahead in the dusty grand hall, he was down on one knee with his white head bowed to the light blue, marble, fifty-foot statue of Selene. She was gracefully sitting on a crescent moon with a beige wolf around her shoulders as she glanced down at the queen of the night flower she was holding up in her left hand. T

My hand coiled a large bunch of burgundy strands on the top of her head, helping her with the pace.“Deep breaths—yeah, take it.” My lips parted, and I blew out invisible puffs of air.The pleasure was overwhelming, almost making me forget what we were fighting about before. She picked up the pace, fisting the bottom of my shaft with one hand while she sucked the top and repeated.“So good, baby,” I remarked huskily. “Show me how badly you want it.”Already my balls were tensing up and stars exploded behind my eyelids as my orgasm drew near. She hummed around my dick, licking it good as I drew it out of her mouth.I grunted and thrust my hip forward with more force this time, hitting the back of my throat. Her pretty mouth was driving me nuts. The way her tongue moved against the ridges was giving me a whi

His blazing emeralds locked with my subtle blues.“Hold on a sec.” I scrambled to the edge of the bed and sat up with a frown. “That’s not what I’m saying.”“Really, Raina?” Valen asked me with hidden anger in his voice. “That crab-louse took Vaheed, and you aren’t in a hurry to get my brother back, especially since that’s the only way for us to find out what happened to Devin.”“I know that,” I muttered in a casual tone, licking my dry lips.“Vaheed isn’t with us because of him.” Valen’s voice rose, and he raked back his black hair with a frustrated hand. He turned and walked towards the glass doors to the balcony, aggressively parted the green drapes, and looked out into the gray sky.“I want to summon Gustav, but I don’t know how,” I expressed, feeling crappy that he had a valid point. “Plus you have that murderous gleam that you are going to kill him w

Like an X-ray, it lit up his skeleton, making it visibly orange with red veins. It was as if the very essence of magic itself was sieving through him, whirling new life into his motionless form. His body was healing, closing the gruesome wound on his chest and reconnecting the superior vena cava."Hang in there, Duke. Your boy is strong. He can make it." Alpha Vance tried to provide some solace.Uncle Duke began pacing while ruffling a hand through his blonde hair. “Come on Smithson, the moon can’t have you today.”Valen's expression was one of intense concentration. His features were set in determination as he exerted more streams of his magic into Devin. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as we held our collective breath, waiting with bated anticipation for any sign of change. And then, it happened.A faint ripple sifted through De

Unlike the sunset that spread a rainbow flame upon the evening's sky.On a magically conjured table floating ahead of us, courtesy of Valen, Devin's massacred body laid supine. The journey from the yacht to Petroside Grove felt longer than ever before, and Zeus’ sprints echoed with emptiness, silently knowing that things would be different now.As we approached the witch’s cottage, the scene on the off-white porch was one of heartbreak and despair. Miriam, Marlena, Alpha Vance, Uncle Duke, Luna Sianna, and Keisha stood waiting. Their faces were etched with grief as they watched us draw near.Zeus lowered his large, black, furry body so that I jumped from his back, and then Valen shifted. Keisha immediately rushed towards Devin. My heart ached for Keisha as I watched her crumble. With haste, Uncle Duke wrapped his arms around her waist to keep her off the ground."I'm so sorry," I whispered to them

He was not my mate, so my body rebelled, seething at being manhandled.Vaheed’s desperate gaze locked on mine, begging me to side with him. “I’m going to kill him, Raina. Tell whitey to leave. We don't want his kind here.”“If you back off, Vaheed, so will he,” I rasped out, which made him livid. His harlequin greens flickered like black coals about to catch fire.Gustav lifted his chin in opposition. “I would not be here if she was not in danger.”Vaheed grinned deviously. “A Worgen….protecting a human? Don't make me laugh. I know all about you and your horde.”“Yes, you do.” I highlighted, “You have a lot of information that we need to make better preparations against them. One tip of its broad jagged blade screeched against the floorboard.Panicking, I glanced back at Gustav, in a terrified voice, “Do not kill him.”“He's dangerous.” Gustav furrowed his brows, confused as to why I'd want to spare him, but he relented with an exhalation.
