Cassie’s POV

A year passed, and like wine, our relationship became the sweetest. Kaiden was a consistent gentleman, and from a boy, I watched him become a man. In terms of physique, I also watched him go through an evolution of appearance.

Kaiden gained more muscle, but it suited him. It did not look weird or awkward for his body structure. He still looked like a fine man. He also grew a light mustache, just enough to make him more mature-looking.

We were also living together. Yes, my brother and especially my dad already agreed with it, but they said that until I was married, Kaiden and I should live in a house nearby my dad's house.

My brothers remained the same. They were still not serious in terms of finding their mates. They still played like teenagers, and I hope they would find their mates very soon to learn a lesson. I knew that it was around three in the morning when they came home and they reeked of alcohol. They wouldn’t even listen to Dad anymore. They would only listen to me as if I was the one who gave birth to them!

"What are you cooking today, Cassie?" Dad asked me while he was sipping his usual cup of black coffee. His old-fashioned reading has a newspaper structure.

"The usual evil pancakes of mine," I replied and he grimaced upon hearing my response.

I was cooking extremely spicy pancakes for my brothers. It would be a little punishment or a threat. Hopefully, they will behave better. Since I left my father’s home, they have been wreaking havoc and acting so childish. When I glanced at my father, I saw the fear in his eyes.

"Don’t tell me the ingredients, Cassie," he said.

"Why not, Dad? It’s just a normal pancake with lots of spicy jalapeno! It would be enough to wake them up from their hangover," I said.

"What about mine?" he inquired.

"Do not worry, Dad! Of course, your pancake is just regular," I replied and he sighed in relief.

"Thank you, Cassie," he said.

A few minutes later, I saw my brothers coming toward our dining area. Their hands were on their head, and they were all frowning because of their headaches. I didn’t understand why they chose to drink more than they could tolerate.

"Cassie! What are you doing?"

They exclaimed in chorus upon seeing me as if they were afraid to see me or even my shadow. They didn’t expect to see me at home, especially after they made a mistake of being wasted last night.

"Good morning, boys," I greeted them with a huge smile and I knew it was enough to scare the shit out of them.

"What are you doing here?'' Marcus asked with a scared expression.

"Why? Did you all not miss me so much? Your little sister?" I asked them. "I even cooked a lovely breakfast for you all," I said to them, still acting innocent.

"I do not trust that food," Tom whispered, but with how strong my sense of hearing is, I still catch his words.

I acted like I was chopping the board with a very sharp knife, and they knew what it meant. Like the speed of light, they sat on their respective chairs as fast as they could. Then, I served them with my special pancake.

''Fuck! Give me water!" Tom shouted at the top of his lungs like a parrot.

"Shit! Shit! Where is the milk? Where is the milk?" Marcus pitched at the top of his lungs.

"Fuck! Why is this so spicy?!" Ben screamed. "How can you be so evil, Cassie?"

Ben was right. I was an evil sister to them when they didn’t behave well. I heard that they did some messing around at the famous werewolf bar last night. I heard from my husband that my brothers were out drinking and messing with men.

"Now you know why I am doing this, right? Just because I don’t live here anymore means that I don’t give a damn to the things you do outside this house. I care for all of you and if something happens, how would I feel about it?"

When I questioned them, they looked like kids being scolded by their mother. They’re all grown-ups but they were a walking disaster! At their age, they were so stubborn. When our mom died, they promised to listen to me at all times.

"Dad, can you talk to Cassie? I think she’s enjoying tormenting us," Marcus complained.

"Enough! You should all be grateful that she still cares for us. She’s not just your sister, but the next Luna of our pack," Dad scolded him.

When he glanced toward my way, I smirked at him. Then, I let my Dad scold them some more before I walked away from them to cook a proper meal. I spent almost an hour in the kitchen before I was able to serve them their favorite food. Afterward, I couldn’t stop smiling while watching them eat.

Then, I found Kaiden waiting for me in the living room. He seemed nervous and I wondered why. I sat beside him and squeezed his hand to let him know that he could count on me at all times.

"How was it?" he asked.

"They are just fine but I punished them a little by adding chili to their pancake," I informed Kaiden as if punishing my brothers meant nothing. When I looked at him, I was surprised at his reaction. He dropped his jaw in shock.

"You really are scary, Cassie," he remarked.

"Why are you scared? Are you planning to do something stupid in the future?" I asked and he immediately shook his head in response. Then, I kissed him. "Don’t worry, Kaiden. As long as you will not be naughty, you will always have good food on your plate," I promised.

"Cassie?"

"Mmmmm? What is it, Kaiden?"

"W-will you marry me next week? I can’t wait to be your legal husband," he said.

Cassie’s POVI might have been overly sensitive as a result of what I saw. I observed him in the company of that recognizable woman. I was familiar with her because, at one time, I fancied myself like her. It was unknown why she moved to the other territory with her family, but she had been a well-known figure in this alliance before she disappeared. She took her family with her.To tell you the truth, that day was the day on which I finally took a breath. When we were both in college, I had observed Kaiden's attraction to that particular woman. I recalled that day vividly, as clear in my mind as it was back then. Before becoming an official couple, Kaiden and that girl went on a number of dates together.Obviously, I was one of those people who cheered from the sidelines, but little did they realize that I was actually perishing inside. I had a lot of love for my closest friend at the time. He was the only person who could comprehend what I was saying. I was not known for my outgoing

Cassie’s POVI had been able to hold out for three days without seeing him. I settled for sniffing a handful of his shirts in the meantime. I was quite aware of how challenging it had become at that point.Because our souls were like two strings entwined with each other, being apart for an extended period caused mild to severe adverse effects. At that moment, I was by myself, taking some pain reliever that was a hundred times more potent than what humans normally took. At the very least, it made the discomfort more bearable. However, it still caused a lot of excruciating pain.I was in the middle of the woods, hoping to come upon some rogue. I needed to release my rage. Punching heavy bags did nothing for me; I needed to reduce someone to a pulp, and I figured a live target would be best. The most common adverse effect was headaches, which were often excruciating. My head felt as though it was being pounded from the inside by a hammer. While I was there, I witnessed some pack warriors

Cassie’s POVWhen I woke up, I realized my partner had been sleeping on his bed, still unconscious. The realization broke my heart into a million pieces. Over the past three days, I hadn't stopped thinking about myself. I allowed myself to become so self-absorbed that I never made an effort to listen to him, taking his presence for granted. This was just one of the many things I was kicking myself over as soon as I opened my eyes that morning.I took a seat on the bed and began to play with his hair. I longed for his aroma; he reminded me of comfort and all the things I cherished most in this world. He put me at ease, but now, knowing he was here and had suffered serious injuries the night before, it gave me the creeps and nightmares. It was inconceivable to me that I might have to go through life without him. This was going to be a living misery for everyone involved."Would you kindly open those stunning eyes once more? I want to hug you, kiss you, and touch you again. I miss your wa

Cassie’s POVAs things got more reckless and daring between us, the kiss became more exciting to look forward to. We could sense how enthusiastic we were about our bodies colliding and touching one another, and the skinship was making us feel really heated.Eagerly, he ripped my shirt and unclasped my bra, witnessing my breasts for the very first time. Kaiden was curious about what it would feel like to touch my body, and the experience seemed to please him. His hands moved cautiously, just brushing across my nipples. I knew he wasn't making fun of me; he was merely savoring each second in his own sweet time.Once he settled on the bed, I made my way over and sat on his lap. His mouth was so hot as it caught the cherry and top of my breast, then swallowed it down."Damn! It's really a pleasant experience!" I couldn't help but wail helplessly. He skillfully played with my nipples using his tongue, as if he knew exactly where my pleasure zones were."Putting this thing in my mouth will n

Cassie’s POVThe next time I woke up, it was already bright outside. Sunlight streamed through the curtains, compelling me to open my eyes. I had made it into my bed, but my roommate was still fast asleep. He appeared to be in a very deep sleep, perhaps because we were both too exhausted to function properly the night before. You'd have to admit that the events of the previous night were both wild and hot.I stroked his hair lightly and kissed the top of his head. I ran my finger over the indentation on the back of my neck. There was no pain, just a strange tingling sensation. I had been told this was normal every time he bit me, so I didn’t feel any anxiety about it.I got out of bed, and although it hurt every time I walked to the restroom, the pain was bearable. I believed it would continue throughout the day, but with the help of my healing powers, I would survive it.After finishing in the restroom, I returned to the bedroom to find Kaiden still soundly asleep. Cassie’s POVI tried to offer him a reassuring grin, but I guess I just couldn’t fake my feelings. People and the other members of our pack often referred to me as an open book because I was straightforward in expressing my thoughts and feelings."I’m concerned because our world has gradually started to descend into chaos. I’m aware that hostilities and conflict are inevitable components of our existence. We will never enjoy complete tranquility, but I still hold out hope that someday, our Luna will guide us through this challenge," I exclaimed, my voice tinged with anger. "It makes me sad that every single day or week, werewolves in our pack risk their lives," I added, feeling genuine sorrow."And when I saw you wounded and injured, it gave me so much fear, made me tremble. I can’t imagine what those werewolves who lost their loved ones feel. It’s revolting," I murmured, wrapping my arms around myself, the look of terror evident on my face.He sighed and wrapped his arms around me, he

Cassie’s POV"What! But you should assist me!" the vampire shouted, clearly agitated. At that moment, I could barely tolerate his presence."If I hear you spreading unnecessary information about me to Dax, Derek, or anyone else, I swear it’ll be the last thing you do. I’m not joking," I warned him."What?! I didn’t say anything," he protested, though I could see through his feigned innocence. I knew Dax wouldn’t lie to me; he had no reason to."Huh, so you’re the one who mentioned that my life is in danger and that they should protect me?" I asked. "They don’t need to be involved in this. This is my battle, not theirs. But since you’ve already spoken out, I have to address it.""I think it’s better for them to be aware. The more they know, the harder it will be for them to lower their guard. This isn’t just about your past or your personal conflict. Once they start caring about you, they’re already involved," he said. He made a good point, even if it annoyed me."But I don’t want to i

It was time for some rest."Mom," Charlie said, his smile brightening as he looked out at the expansive woodland. "You’re growing up, and I feel like I’m not doing a great job as your mother," I admitted honestly. I felt I wasn’t fulfilling my role as a mother to my beloved son, Charlie. My son wiped away my tears, kissed them, and gave me a reassuring grin. "Mom, you don’t have to apologize. There’s nothing to apologize for. I love you, and I appreciate everything you do for me. If I have a mom in my next life, I’d choose you over and over again," he said, causing me to cry even more."Please stop crying, Mom. I promised Dad I’d protect you and make sure you’re happy no matter what," he continued. It amazed me how mature he had become so quickly. I felt my age more keenly at that moment."You promised that to your father, but I promise to protect you no matter what as well. So

Cassie’s POVMy eyes were tired from crying and staying up too late. I wasn’t feeling well and decided it was the right time to request a leave of absence. Despite werewolves typically having excellent stamina and health, we’re not invincible. Like all creatures, we have our weaknesses. For werewolves, a fragile heart can be our downfall, and right now, mine felt incredibly delicate.I was struggling with emotional sickness again, feeling so heavy and weak that I couldn’t get out of bed. The cold was a result of my forgetting to close the window last night. I asked Angel to cover my schedule for the time being, promising to return the favor. I was grateful she agreed, but my severe headache was making me extremely lethargic."Mom," Charlie knocked gently on the door. I told him to come in."Are you sick, Mom?" he asked, brushing his hand against my forehead. His concern touched me deeply, but I didn’t want him to worry too much. I had to remind myself that I was strong."I’m fine, swee

Cassie’s POVAfter leaving work, I decided to do some grocery shopping. I was still a bit taken aback by Dax becoming my new boss, but I understood what Angel and Dale meant. Dax was someone kind and close to my heart, and I completely agreed with that. I actually liked the idea of him being my boss—thank goodness."Angel, I’m so shocked to learn everything," I said, while Damon pushed our cart loaded with vegetables, fruits, and various types of meat. My new condominium unit was three times as large as the previous one, and I needed to restock supplies and prepare dinner. My son was growing so fast that he needed a lot of nutrients."Yeah, Dax knows you dislike surprises, but he was worried that if you found out he’d be your new boss, you might leave or disagree," Angel murmured. I looked at her in disbelief."Why would I do that?" I asked. Dax was a great guy whom I trusted, and I knew he’d treat me well, so I couldn’t see any reason for me to be against having him as my new boss."W

Derek asked, his voice laden with curiosity and a hint of suspicion. We were seated in our usual café, a cozy place with a warm ambiance that had become our go-to spot for conversations about our complex lives.I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks. The truth was that my main reason for taking on the position was to spend more time with Cassie. It was something I hadn't fully admitted before, but it was time to come clean. Since we had agreed to share our feelings with Cassie equally, there was no point in hiding anything from Derek anymore."Well, it’s primarily because I wanted to spend more time with Cassie. But also, I wanted the financial resources and influence to spoil Cassie and Charlie just like you do," I confessed in one breath. The words tumbled out before I could second-guess them. Derek’s reaction was immediate; he spilled his coffee

I had faced many challenges in my life; this should be manageable. To my surprise, Dax was sitting in the CEO’s swivel chair. Dressed in a sharp suit, he looked dazzling and charming. I couldn’t help but blush, realizing I had been staring at him longer than I intended."Dax, what are you doing here? Derek, with his intense and sometimes risky demeanor, also had a softer, more vulnerable side that I had come to appreciate."How about me?" Dax asked, looking as if he didn’t want to be left out. His puppy-dog eyes made me smile. I patted his head affectionately. "Good boy. Now, shall we eat? I’m starving," I said, and they guided me to our table."Mom!" He blushed at my compliment."Mom, you’re beautiful too," Charlie said, handing me a small box. "I hope you like this." I was deeply touched. It reminded me of the times when Kaiden and Charlie wo
