I sat on the sofa in my room drinking vodka, as I gaze out of space. As the memories of last night kept popping in my head. All my life, I’ve never been more embarrassed. Cheska knows how to play her cards very well, but I need to step my game up. I can’t allow her to win. I’m good at destroying people’s lives. In fact, I’m a professional. The way she embarrassed my last night in front of everyone is unforgivable. I have a high reputation. And that was almost destroyed by me getting married to her. Then she made a fool out of me. Maybe I should trick her into signing another contract. No. I need to do something worse. But what?
Sometimes the evil thought of just killing her crosses my mind, but I’m not a murderer. I want to ruin her life to a point, that when she looks back. She will be shattered. I will break her into a billion pieces.
Just as those thoughts escape my head my door open and She walked in with a huge grin on her face. I roll my eyes. Think of the devil.
“Get out!”
“Good morning. Prince.” She says in the sweetest tone. “Why are you drinking so early in the morning?” She asks.
“Get out” I bark
“I just came to see if you are okay. You know, after you got punched in the face”
“Get out of my room.”
“Why? Yesterday you were nice to me.” I stood up and made my way to her side. I grab onto her shoulders and give her one mighty push causing her to fall backward and slammed her hand against the dresser.
“Out! “ I bark. “You are the last person I want to see right now. Get out! Before I drag you out.” She bowed her head in embarrassment but immediately put on a brave face.
“I’ll go make breakfast”
A few minutes later my mother called. I roll my eyes upon seeing her name pop up on the screen, but I decided to answer it. I was not in the mood for her to throw a fit because I ignored her calls. I slide my fingers across the screen and answer it.
“Hello Prince, How are you doing now?”
“I’m okay, mother” “How is your wife?”
“I don’t know”
“What do you mean? Do you think marriage is a joke?”
“Let me tell you this straight. We don’t share the same room, or bed and I don’t care about her, so please don’t ask me about her! You are the reason I’m in this situation. I agreed to marry her, and that’s it! Nowhere in the contract did it say I have to care for her.”
“I had to get you married. It’s embarrassing each time you’re photographed with a new woman. It’s sickening! You’re an embarrassment, and sometimes I regret not having that abortion. Even if it meant blackmailing you, I had to do it!”
“You’ll regret this. I promise you!”
“Don’t raise your voice at me, little boy!” She shouted.
“I’m not in the mood to talk now,” I said before hanging up. I clenched my fist in frustration. I need a way out of this. Everything and everyone around me makes me feel like I’m suffocating. I grab my keys and head downstairs.
As I enter the living room, I saw Cheska sitting on the couch crying. As soon as I clear my throat she looked up and wiped her tears.
“What’s your problem now?” I ask.
“It’s Nothing. Leave me.”
“This is my house. I can torment you as much as possible.”
“Why can’t you stop harassing me?”
“Hmmm … let’s see … because you’re a gold digger and I hate you”
“I want to get a job”
“You quit your last job so you could get married to me, and now you want to go and find another job does that make sense to you? Huh? Make that make sense Cheska.” I kneel in front of her and give her a wicked look. “You shouldn’t be working my dear wife. That’s one advantage of getting married to a billionaire. So, suck it up and have fun. Watch me make your life hell. And you can forget about trying to take revenge on me. You’re too weak for that. I can see right through you. I can snap my fingers and make you cry. Imagine if I clap my hands. You’ll be shattered.”
“I am not afraid of you”
“Oh honey, I don’t have two horns in my head. Unlike you of course.”
“I despise you.” She says walking off. I walked after her and grabbed on to her hand.
“Don’t walk away from me.” I tighten my grip on her hands, and I don’t know what came over me, but I kept squeezing. As I squeeze her hand the devil convinced me to squeeze even more. She’s the bitch that’s trying to steal your money. I didn’t even take notice of her begging me to let her go until she screams,
“You are hurting me!” I let go of her hand and stepped closer to her. Her eyes were filled with tears, but she tried fighting them back. She started walking off, but I grab on to her hand again.
“Don’t walk away from me when I’m speaking to you,” I say sternly. She jerked her hand out of mine.
“The next time you try that I’ll kill you,” she said pointing her finger at me.
“Your empty threats are taking you nowhere, so … shut up”
“I despise you”
“You haven’t seen anything yet, Cheska. Because when I’m done with you, when you look into the mirror, you won’t even recognize yourself

I went to the back of the house and sat down by the poolside and place my feet in the water. This is one of the only ways I can clear my head right now. I tried putting on that hard face. I tried to convince myself that I wouldn’t let Prince make me cry, but as he said, I’m weak. Despite me talking back to him, his simple words brought me to tears. He has every right to be mad at me. I have no right to be mad at him. It’s his money. I got married to him for a reason, and even if it’s a good one. I’m still a gold digger.
“Hello, Cheska.” I turned around and saw Gloria standing over me.
“Mrs. Crivelli. It’s …. Uh … nice to see you” I say wiping my eyes.
“I know you are not happy to see me, but here is your money.” She said handing me a check. “ Just as promised”
“I looked down at it. One hundred and fifty thousand dollars.” I say with excitement in my voice. “Thank you!”
“Yes. I’ll give you another next month.
And remember. Prince should never know about this.”
“What can’t I know about what?” Prince asked. I quickly turned to see him coming towards us.He repeated his question again. I quickly placed my hand behind my back. “Shall I repeat it a third? Mother?”
“It’s women’s talk. Don’t interfere”
“What’s that behind your back?” He asked walking towards me. I started stepping backward slowly while stuffing the check-in the waist of my shorts.
“It’s nothing. I just feel like placing both hands behind my back. See” I say showing them to him. He walked closer to me and frown.
“Whatever it is that you and my mother are up. I’ll find out. I promise you that.” He says walking off.

Upon reaching my room I called Linton, and he arrived within half an hour. I pour out a bottle of whiskey for both of us as he took a seat.
“Prince Crivelli.”
“Linton shaw”
“I’m good. Thanks for asking. How’s your married life?”
“Stressful. And that’s what I called you about.
You already know my situation with this girl. I want you to do a background check on her. I need to know every piece of information in her life.”
“But how will this be of benefit? She’s your wife”
“I’m paying you, so get me what I need and stop this interrogation”
“Fine, but I’ll be out of the country for a few months. So I’ll call you when the information is ready. . “
“Don’t make me wait.”
“Alright. I’ll keep in touch.” He says getting up and shaking my hand.
Jane We all have big dreams. Dreams that we wish to come true, that’ll change our lives forever. But we also have nightmares, and those can also change our lives forever. I’m living in my nightmare right now. Each day I wake up wondering what’s next in my life today. Ever since I decided to go to the altar and say yes, my life has been a disaster. And it’s something I have to live with. I tie my hair into a neat bun, then grab my purse and head downstairs. I have so much to do today, I honestly wish I could just fast forward to maybe five years from now, because I hate this chapter of my life. I double check to make sure my banking card is safely in my bag as I enter the kitchen. “Good morning Hannah” I say taking a seat. “Good morning” she gave me a warm smile as she pours out a cup of mint tea. Just as I take a sip, Prince came in. “Hannah make me some coffee” he says in a demanding tone. “You can at least say please” I mutter. “Speak when spoken to woman” after I finish havi
Axel The air between us was tense. None of us said a word to each other. And I was definitely not going to be the one to break the silence. She called me here. It’s her responsibility to do so. I just sat there glaring daggers at her. My mother must be a different kind of species. I thought to myself. Of all the rich girls she could have set me up with, why Cheska? Something is off. Her story about Cheska begging her to marry me doesn’t fully make sense. Then I saw Cheska hiding something behind her back. It suddenly dawned on me. What if she’s trying to get Cheska to poison me? I wouldn’t put that pass her. I have to be careful. I hope Linton comes through with the information fast. “So, I guess you will always give me the silent treatment huh?” She finally asks. “Mother, please. It’s better you keep quiet. The world needs peace” she laughs. “ Just like your dad. Worthless” “Everything I have, took my blood, sweat and tears. So use another word. Moreover, dad was a good man.” I l
Jane I was awakened by a sharp knock on my door. Before I could even say come in, Prince barged in. He was wearing a white t-shirt along with a black sweatpants. Looking like a bird losing it’s feathers. Actually, he looks worst than that, but I can’t think of what right now. Or maybe I’m just overreacting. “Out of bed woman.” I raise my eyebrows at him, but got up. “You have no right to barge in like this-“ “When you start paying the bills. You can talk. Now … as of today you’ll be doing all the chores in the house. Except cooking for me” “I-me?” “No me. I have decided to give Hannah a little break.” He step closer to me. “Since you’re my wife … you’ll fulfill those duties. And that’s an order.” After he walks out ran to the bathroom and freshen up, then I put on a skirt and t-shirt. When I got downstairs the kitchen was a total mess. Dirty dishes were everywhere. Even on the floor. To make things worst, a note was left on the counter by Prince. Time to do your rightful job as
Axel After adjusting my jacket, I turn to look at Aficia, Alicia, Atifia … whatever her name is. She winks at me, then bites her lip. Her eyes filled with lust. My eyes however, were filled with disgust. After all, I had my way with her already. “Sir, we should definitely do that again. I ha-“ “Out!” I bark. I took out a few cash from my wallet and hurled it at her. “This is not a place for hoes to tarry. Scram” she grab it up and ran out with tear filled eyes. I haven’t even said a hurtful word to her. Yet she’s crying. I laugh to myself. “Stupid woman didn’t even please me right” I mumble. These hoes nowadays need some training. She was good. Fat are, big tits, small waist, wide hips. But she doesn’t please me well enough. I hadn’t slept at home last night. I needed a break from seeing Cheska’s ugly face. I glance at the time on my watch. Five in the morning. I have three hours to get to a meeting, and I strongly feel like canceling. I dug my hands in my pocket as I look through
Jane “Wake up Cheska!” I nearly hop out of my skin as I was fast asleep. I immediately opened my eyes and there he was sitting on my bed. A huge smile was plastered over Alex face. “What the -“ he quickly place his hands on my lips in order to just me up. “You look so peaceful while sleeping dear.” “Get out!” I say kicking him off my bed. “Prince is not here, so leave.” “I know that. How are you doing?” “Not good now that you are here.” “Do you have any extra food? I’m starving.” “What do I look like?” “Why do you hate me?” “You make me sick.” “You are not sick right now.” He says winking. “Can’t you leave now? I already told you Prince isn’t here.” “I think I’ll stay until he returns.” “If you don’t go I’ll have you kicked out. I’m not afraid to do that!” He let out a laugh, then licks his lips. “Baby, this is my best friends house … he’d rather kick you out” as I took one step towards him there was a knock on the door. I rush to open it, but was disappointed to see th
Jane I struggle with my suitcases as I tried to catch up with Prince as he heads towards the car. He had only one bag to carry which makes sense why he's able to walk briskly. I on the other hand have two suitcases, three travelling bags and my hand bag. He didn't even offer to take any of them from me. Definitely not a gentleman. When I got to the car a short fat grey haired man walked up to us, and despite his grey hairs he was fairly handsome. "Cheska this is Raffa, the driver" "Nice to meet you sir" I say giving him the warmest smile I possibly could. Prince rolls his eyes and open the door of the car. "It's a pleasure Mrs. Crivelli" he takes my hand into his and kisses it gently. "Do your job Raffa and quit talking to her. You're a driver. Nothing else. Remember that" his face was immediately flushed with embarrassment and I felt sorry for him. He takes my bags and place them in the trunk of the car, then we got in and he drove off. Prince seated himself to the farthest end o
Axel I glance at my wristwatch in frustration. Cheska has been in the shower for nearly half an hour and I need her right now, but apparently she's trying to be spiteful. I thought she wouldn't be of use on this trip, but apparently, I'm wrong since the man I'm meeting wants to meet her too. Although he's an old friend there's no way of getting around him with this. My mother really knows how to fuck my life up one stage to another. I need to find some way out of this marriage, but first I have to teach Cheska a lesson about marrying someone for money. About five minutes later she walked out dressed in a pink latex strapless dress with black heels. Her hair was done in a tight ponytail. She actually looks nice. Not super nice. Just a little nice. Nice enough. "Let's go!" I bark. "Keep in mind I'm doing you a favour" she says crossing her arms. "I don't have to show up" "Cheska it's dinner, and I like being at least an hour early. It's principle. Now, maybe you don't know about th
Jane I stop at the corner shop and bought a bottle of water, then I took a seat on the bench. I had just finished exercising and I feel exhausted. I haven’t exercised in a long while. Like two years … It was a good way to get my mind open about doing something evil to Prince, but all I could think about was something silly. I shouldn’t even be thinking about doing something to him, since I’m technically dependent on him. Ugh … I don’t even know what to do right now. He’s so irritating and judgmental. Without trying to know the real reason I married him he just jumped to the conclusion of me being a whore … But then again, why wouldn’t he? If his mother didn’t put Kate in the hospital we would have never crossed paths. I would have continued my studies. I let out a sigh. “Hello, Cheska, right?” I look up at the nice piece of chocolate standing in front of me. His blue eyes glistened at me, not to mention his gorgeous smile. My heart immediately stopped. Literally. He’s probably the se
Cheska The thought of Drake purchasing a gun still bothered my mind the entire night, but I decide not to question him again about that. I keep wondering why he suddenly decides to carry it now. We've been living in California for two weeks, and so far, everything is fine. This morning, he leaves for work, as usual. While I'm about to finish blow-drying my hair inside my bathroom, I hear footstep sounds from downstairs. That makes my heart thump hard against my chest. Ever since the incident of Andrew breaking into our house in England, the smallest sound and the slightest movement can make me become a paranoid again. I'm sure that Jake has locked the door, so if it weren't him, who else would enter this house? Slowly, I step out of my room and head downstairs, almost tiptoeing so that I won't make too much sound. My pulse quickens as I finally reach the ground level. When I see the person entering the living room, I yelp in surprise. My eyes widen as I see Prince standing before m
Prince I open my eyes, only to find an unfamiliar ceiling. My vision is still quite blurry, but then, it becomes better. My head pulses with pain, but it’s so much better than what I felt before. Abruptly, I sit up and find that I’m sitting on a bed that’s not mine. What the hell has happened to me? I snap my head around and find Jake standing in the doorway, leaning against the door frame. “Shit,” I involuntary curse. “You passed out,” he says, as if it can’t be any clearer. “When I still saw you again this morning, I thought you were crazy. You looked like shit.” “How could--” “Cheska,” Jake answers before I can finish my question. “You’re lucky. She found you, brought you inside and treated you.” I freeze for a while before a sigh leaves my mouth. So, it’s not a dream. It’s really her. I thought that I was hallucinating. Damn. I even thought that I’d died and entered heaven. Cheska stayed here, by my side. She saved me. I suddenly feel so stupid for not waking up at that ti
Cheska The moment I close the door behind me, my sobs finally break. I’ve never thought that I would say those words to him, but I had to. We can’t be together anymore. I’ve promised myself that I’m going to forget everything about my painful past, about him. I need to be strong, and I can only be so without him. I’ve planned my future, and he won’t be in the picture. Our future doesn’t work together. Mine will destroy his. Drake leans back against the wall, his arms crossed on his chest, his eyes closed. He has heard everything as well. When he turns to me and walks closer to hug me, I bury my face in his chest and cry my eyes out, hugging him back. I can’t bear the pain anymore. Hurting Prince breaks my own heart, worse than when he broke mine. He came all the way here for me. He waited for days, standing on the street outside. He still waited for me even when the rain had been pouring hard on him. He was crying when he said that he loved me. But then, I just crushed him with m
Prince It’s been three days since I arrived in California, and the first thing I do once I get up this morning is to visit Drake’s house again. I look up to the same window, only to find that the curtain is still shut. Drake steps out of the house to go to work again, but this time when he looks at me, he just sighs, shaking his head in disbelief. He gets into his car and drives. Clenching my fist on my sides, I call her again, “Cheska!” But still, there’s no response. I find myself standing alone on the street again, but my yearning to see her doesn’t change. In fact, it becomes even stronger. I will wait, Cheska. I will. I will still be here. The afternoon passes by, and now, the sky has become dark. Earlier, I was away just to grab some lunch, and now, I’m still standing in the same spot, in front of this house. I turn my head when I notice Drake’s car pulling in. And the first thing he does after he comes back from work is scrutinizing me. He shakes his head again before wal
Cheska As soon as Drake comes back from work, he visits my room. I sigh, closing my laptop. Drake leans back against my door frame, still in his office attire. “ Are you sure, Ches?” he asks me the question once again. I nod. This past week, I've been spending time with my laptop to figure out what I'm going to do with my life. And finally, I've found a light, filled with hope for my future. A way to achieve my dreams. "You know, I never thought that something like this would ever happen, but-" he falters, and I give him a hopeful look. A soft smile touches his lips. "As long as it makes you happy, I'm fine with it." Relief washes over me. I thought that he would be reluctant to accept my idea at first, butI always know that he's going to be supportive, as long as it's the best for me. I stand up from the chair, approach him and hug him, making him sigh. "Thank you, Drake. I always know that you're gonna be on my side." When we pull away, I do see the sadness in his eyes. Regrets
Cheska Later in the afternoon, Fiona and I finally finish settling all my belongings in place. It's time for her to get back to her apartment, and I can sense that Jake's mood darkens once he knows that she's going to leave soon. Too bad for him, Fiona doesn't seem to consider another option. There's this mystery about Fiona that makes me understand why Jake is drawn to her. It's like she's doing this push-and-pull thing with my brother, which rarely happens because girls usually fall hard and fast when it comes to him. There's definitely so much more than meets the eye between them. When he sends her off at the front door, Drake says, "Thanks, Fiona. Couldn't have done it without your help." "No problem, Drake." Fiona smiles, and haven't I told you before how breathtaking her smile is? It's the kind of smile that belongs to the supermodel Barbara Palvin. So pretty. "Bye, Cheska." She waves her hand at me, and I wave back. Drake looks like he wants to give her a goodbye kiss, but
Cheska Today is my second day in California. It’s early morning, and I’m setting up my new cellphone when Drake emerges in my doorway. He’s talking to someone on the phone before handing it to me, making me wonder who it is. “ It’s your friend Kate,” he says. “ She got my number from Prince.” The mentioning of such name still makes my heart drop. I sigh and take the phone from Drake. “Hello?” Kate’s cries fill my ear as soon as I speak, and she goes frantic. “Oh my God, Ches. Are you okay? How are you doing over there?” A soft smile tugs at my lips. I miss her. It feels like ages since the last time I heard from her. This girl is worrying about me like I’m dying. “I’m okay. Don’t worry.” “God, I never thought that – “ she stops talking and starts sobbing. “If only I’d figured it out earlier.” She’s speaking about Andrew. There’s a guilt in her voice, and I want to tell her that none of this is her fault. Before, neither of us realized that Andrew was such a psychopath. We thoug
Cheska The ride to California has been tremendously long. Of course, we move halfway across the country. But finally, we’re here. Drake pulls in when we reach his place. I get out of the car and look up at the house standing before me, the ray of morning sun upon me eyes making me wince as I block it with my hand. So, this is the house that Jake has rent for him to live in California. It’s a mid-sized traditional brick grey townhouse with a gable roof, and it has two storeys. It looks really nice. Drake steps up toward the entrance door and opens it for me. “Welcome to my house.” He smirks. I gape as I step inside. The interior looks more contemporary compared to the exterior. The house is filled with neutral colors and clean design lines, but there are some bold accent colors on some pieces of furniture. It looks super comfortable, and my body absolutely gives in after long hours of journey. I feel like I can just sink into one of the couches and sleep there. “Good to know that
Prince Andrew ends up in the hospital. And I end up spending the night at the police station. That bastard is fucking lucky that I didn’t kill him, because before I could do so, three policemen came to stop me. I remember roaring like a mad person when they pulled me away from Andrew, who was already bleeding to death when the emergency response team from the hospital took him with the stretcher. My hands shaking, I look down and bury my face in them. What the hell am I doing here? I shouldn’t be here right now. I should be with her. Cheska. Cheska. Cheska. She’s the only thing in my mind now. I can’t imagine what she’s feeling at the moment. She must be scared, not knowing that to do. She must be broken. Hopeless. Alone. To settle the matters with the police, I’ve called my lawyer, whom I know from a friend I worked with for one of the influential companies I did my project with. He’s good, so I expect that the police can give me some dispensation once they find out that Andrew
