BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.
"Here is your tea, your Highness." She kept the small mug and saucer on the golden coffee chair her master is sitting on then move back behind to stand like a guard in case if he wants her to add sugar or he wants milk which is rare.
If not for the fact that he is royalty and must act like one, he would've told them that he is no disabled and can do everything himself. That was the man he was a month before not thus snappy, techy and frigid person he has become. They don't enjoy working in the chamber anymore, they despise it actually.
The sigh of relief that left her mouth could be heard by anyone in safe distance when he dismissed her with a nod. She's always loved it when he twist his wrist in a way to dismiss her without using his words. The man is a sight to behold and she never gets tired of staring at him, not his arctic eyes though. She hates when he talks coldly or when he stares at her like he stares at everyone and everything in his path, icily.
There are many guards standing outside his chamber, when he walked out, they bowed, greeted him in respect like they do everyday then follow behind him in a safe distance. He likes his personal space and they respect that, or they face his wrath which never end up well. No one is to get in the way of Sa'eed El-Kanemi or he destroy your life with just snap of his finger. Everyone knows what he is capable of doing to his enemy or obstacle, again, the man he has become.
"To the airport." He took a look at his silver Rolex around his warm beige wrist, checking the time. He has some more minutes so he relaxed back and brought out his laptop, he is a workaholic alright.
Sa'eed Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi stood impatiently in the airport as his pilot announced the last minute problem of his jet. He hates waiting and inefficient workers hence the curses raining out from his lips right to the middle aged pilot's ears. Some might think he would shy away because the man is way older than him but he is blinded by the wrath eating up his foot. He has been temperamental since a moon ago, like a child always ready to throw tantrum, a hissy kid.
"Why don't you understand that when I want to go somewhere, I hate anything delaying it. You should've known about your work and double checked the jet before giving me a heads up. Check out the King's and see if his will take me there as soon as possible." His emotionless detached voice has the pilot sprinting to the other side of the tarmac and to the said jet.
He has to deal with inefficient workers and deal with that stubborn person in Chad. Why must the person with that company had to be such pain in the ass when everyone will be overjoyed to get that handsome amount of money he is offering. He gave the person so much freedom and money to last some years of relaxation but no, this so called person needs to deal with him face to face. He might even result to something he hardly does for such petty things so he might just have to face this person and see where they stand.
He's been told that even the government officials can't deal with that person and that just pushed him to go and see who dare stand in his way. This person should know that they should never double cross the son of the crowned Shehu of Borno State. He never is one to leave the country unnecessarily but seeing that it's just Chad, he could go there and come back that same day. If only he knows what awaits him there in this so called Country he called petty.
He just hopes that this person won't drag on this matter or he makes sure to bring the illegal acts into it. He is not one to waste time on useless people when he can have his way illegally which is why he has his lawyer with him. Breaching some rules in a contract and adding forged signature is not something he hasn't done before and this certainly won't be the last. He knows how to deal with attention seeking citizens quite well having been in the light for many years.
"Take a chill pill and cut them some slack. You are always on their back, I wonder how they keep up with you all the time. I would've ran for the hills and stop my job altogether if I am to ever get scolded like that by you." Mu'adh Mannir commented from beside him with a mock snicker making him glare at the man that always gets on his nerves other than his mother.
Mu'adh Mannir is his best friend who he's met when he went to bag his masters in business administration back in Mauritius. He's always been annoying right from when he met him and he asks himself how he is still with him till date. Well, he is his lawyer who helps him with all his dirty works. The man knows how to do his work and does that even before he opens his mouth that is why he likes him by his side. He sometimes doesn't want to talk so luckily for him, Mu'adh always knows what to do.
Sa'eed found out that he is some distant relative of his from his father's side. That only tightened their relationship having to see each other in each coronation, supper and dinners. They get to mingle around his office all the time. He's hired him as his lawyer so he won't have to work anywhere else. And makes it a greater opportunity for Mu'adh to rile him up whenever he feels like. He thinks that the man is sent to earth just to annoy him.
The guy stick to him even at his worst which is why he let's him do whatever he wants. He's seen so many sides of him that he won't bother showing another. He knew the man will go to any extent to help him so who is better friend than that?
"If you don't learn to keep that your little mouth shut, I will make sure you don't get into that plane yourself." Came Sa'eed's everyday reply to his best friend's endless talks and rants.
Few minutes later, the pilot told him that the jet is okay and will move without problem. He made his way in his panther like grace to said jet, the guards parting ways for him to pass through. He is a man of few words but those words are enough to make or ruin your life. Those words could also make you pee on your pants unknowingly, he has that power with words. They are always very pungent and acrid, just like his hardened face when mad.
Arriving at Chad, he went straight to the government officials who were very pleased to see him off in their place. They gave him a warm welcome and someone might think he is the President of Nigeria himself not a Prince. He sat at the head table waiting for the so called person to come but he heard a bad news, he didn't like hearing such confident words rolling off anybody except him. And he thought he has the whole confidence in him but no, there is someone out here with the remains.
"We are going to see, Mss. Khalid." One of them told him, adjusting the glasses sitting atop his fat nose. All wrinkles around his face squeezed at his words giving him an ugly look.
That isn't what Sa'eed wants to think about though. The fact that he said Mss. meaning the so called person he's been wanting to meet is a woman, to top it all, she might be young. Knowing the people in Chad, they mostly are married or widows so hearing that Mss. didn't sit quite well with him. Mu'adh could only stifle a chuckle seeing how his best friend's razors sharp jaw ticked in irritation at the name of Mss. This should be fun, he can't wait for some more fun when he's been bored the whole hour ride there because his boss is disinterested.
"Who is this, Mss. Khalid, might I ask?" His curiosity is getting the best of him and he can't help keeping his mouth shut knowing he might just be meeting a small girl wanting attention.
He's dealt with a lot of women like that in the past to know they are only attention seekers. Those spoilt brats that are about to become CEO's right after graduating from university without the taste of knowledge about the business world. He could deal with her with just a flick of his finger which relaxed him again. He's got this deal whether she likes it or not, he needs it. He is Sa'eed El-kanemi after all, no deal could slip off his fingers when he is dead on having one. Not when he has promised to make it, he won't back down no matter what.
"Mr. El-Kanemi, we've tried our best to pursue her but she is not budging and demand that she wants to see you first. We have an appointment in twenty minutes." Another explained from the other end of the table which only irritate him further.
What?! He needs an appointment to see some spoilt brat who got a small company to manage? This doesn't sit well with him and if not that he is desperate to get his work and project done, he would've left the country without any other look. That is the last thing he will ever offer to Chad, he's gone through a lot just for them. Left his home when he is desperately needed there, so much for being a gentleman.
"Shall we?!" He adjust his suit and stood up, looking at the men.
The men stood up and made their way out to the waiting cars outside the building. Mu'adh already arranged a car for them, an expensive one to be exact so they settle inside the BMW and left following the cars in front of them. They don't even know where they are going but asked the drive to not miss them just for safety measures. None of them knew around Chad though Sa'eed knows where he wants to build his next business, they still are guests in that foreign country.
"I never thought that this person is going to be a woman. I thought it might be an old man holding onto his house like his life thinking the memories of his dead wife will be back in some way." Mu'adh commented, shaking his head in process but all the while snickering at his friend's despair and irritation.
He feed on that!
"Hold your thoughts to yourself." Sa'eed's deep voice rumble out from his chest as his fingers continue to fly on the keyboard in his Mac. He is probably telling and declining some useless emails asking them for construction.
"I was just telling you something I thought before." Mu'adh rolled his eyes when his best friend didn't even acknowledge his presence for the next few minutes. He is used to getting ignored by that man so that is not something he is going to hold grudge on, nop.
Shortly, the cars stopped in front of a small blue building. Seeing the government officials filing out of their cars, Sa'eed got out and adjust his well tailored Brioni suit. His mind is set and so does his eyes as they stare at the building like he was about to burn it down without the use of any bulldozer. He can't wait to see who the heck this woman is that is making him suffer instead of just handing it down to him. The building is already old and about to fall off. Who won't be happy to get rid of this?!
Stepping into the office, he bumped into a lady who stood up abruptly and started lashing out on him. What entranced him was her voice, it was so thin yet melodic that even with his heart not beating, he knew that voice will make any man succumb to her needs. But then again, this woman is saying so many things in her mother language so he didn't get what she is talking about and could only stare at her.
She is fair, very fair, even fairer than all the Chadians he's met so far. Maybe bisque complexion. Her skin is flawless, her eyes blaze with fire that he could see burning underneath those light brown irises and pupils. Her brows are perfectly arched, very full and dark. He could see the baby hairs lining the front of her head where her veil didn't close much. Her nose is thin and fit her face perfectly then comes her thin plump lips that is coated in nude lipstick.
A colour that makes it way more plump and sensual.
"...you can't just walk into someone's company and bump into them then stare at them. Didn't your momma teach you about the 'staring is rude' line?" She arched a brow at the man even though she knew she shouldn't play with fire.
Suhayr knew exactly who she is talking to after seeing the way the government officials' mouth hung on the floor hearing her insulting his forefathers in Arabic/French. She was already in a bad mood after her time with her best friend the day before and the deal she took which she doesn't know whether she will ever be able to fulfill it. That is not how she planned her day the day before but it had to turn out like that. Fuck herself for being a daredevil!
The man, no, the powerful influential person standing a good foot above her is not someone she wants to deal with at that moment, not when she is in a bad mood. She could see the same fire igniting behind his dark fathomless gaze making her narrow her bitchy eyes. This man here is going to be like her or close to her in lighting flames. She is already pitying the government officials that will have to go through the meeting with them.
The man looks like he is no quitter just like her though hers is already withering. All she needs to do is make sure she gets on his skin before giving up. She is still standing dead on getting that money from him whether he likes it or not. She is already at the verge of bankruptcy, so why not use that as her opportunity to become rich? She needs money to survive when all she wants to do is tour around the whole world.
Nop, she might have to keep some things aside and makes sure her dare is fulfilled so she won't start losing any bet. She's never lose one and she won't start now at any cost.
"Al-salâm aleki; Greetings." Were the first words that roll down from Sa'eed's mouth so Suhayr knew she has to work hard on this man. That day is going to be a very long eventful day, she could see it already.
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."Lale, Hello!" Her best friend, Tasneem greeted as soon as she opened the door for her to come into their beautiful homey yet cold house painted in orange and cream. The weather is getting way too chilly for any of Suhayr's coats, she needs to get some new cheap ones. Her best friend Tasneem Da'ood is really a beautiful lady standing five ft six, way taller than Suhayr would want but she manage to pull off that look. With her slender body shaped into rectangle upsidedown with lack of extra curves unlike Suhayr. Her curves are just the same way as her body, not much more that she would love which result to her exercising to get the body. She loves the way she is but accepted the challenge from Suhayr one blessed evening.Right from her dark onyx long hair that is now tied in a messy ponytail, to her full brow
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.She could hear the melodious sound of birds chirping outside her window, reminding her just how much of a good soul she is. She always tries to feed them each morning with water, grains and bread crumbs, she enjoys doing that all the time as it takes her mind away from so many problems. The fact that they don't leave the place till after being full makes this prodigious amount of happiness to swarm in her chest every morning. She is doing something good for once. That peace got shattered as soon as her sleaze phone rang from the bedside table reminding her she didn't put it on airplane mood the night before. She knew about her meeting bit she wants to delay it as much as she could to piss t
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."I won't argue with you on that seeing I'm starving and peckish, for money. But, I don't think you have enough to offer me now so I suggest you keep your mouth sealed." Suhayr lectured to Sa'eed who could only place his right hand under the right side of his cheek grazing his little gruff by the side in thought, tickling his palm in process."You can't ask for too much money when you don't own an empire. It's just a small company and an apartment but you are making a gigantic fuss." The hotheaded man had to butt his head in again eliciting a groan from her mouth in anger. She should really keep that man in his sit before he makes her all more pissed. She lets her cool face stay there though, she won't give him the satisfaction."I don't know about you, but this company is my life. And if you dare to demean t
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."That doesn't matter but for your information, I'm nineteen. We are going to get married right now in the mosque." She stood up with nonchalance seeing as Sa'eed stared at her as though she's hit her head somewhere and is now mentally unstable. Not that she cared what he thinks of her at that time, no scratch that, at anytime. She needs to have her plan set in motion, she hates delaying when she feels like something is important and now her priority is getting married to this rich El-Kanemi guy.She can't afford letting him slip off her finger, he looks as cunning and sly as she is. One wrong move from her, her plan will fall and follow the drain, that she can't afford. She needs that last name to her name as soon as possible, she doesn't care in what way. Whether legal or illegal, wholeheartedly or selfishly, she needs that royal name related to he
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Suhayr immediately left the mosque to go call the two people she knew would not hesitate to come and help her if she gives them some money, not that they won't without the money. They are her customers and like buying their stuff from her shop because she always makes discount for them, that is all because her mother respects them for some unknown reason, she also does. If her mother loves an ant, Suhayr would definitely respect that ant for the rest of her life. They liked her and always tells her that when she gets married, she should make sure they are there. Now they are needed and without any hesitation, she knew they are going to come in addition to their house not being far away from the mosque. This come in handy for her, she don't want to change her mind or let that man change his, this is what she needs at the moment.
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."Why not ask Ms. Khalid to help us with one of her bedrooms? I heard she has two bedrooms in her apartment. She won't mind us squatting there for the night huh?" His tone was serious making Sa'eed worried that his friend swallowed something poisonous. He is never serious during his first wife's burial."I don't think that is a good idea." He muttered stealing a glance at Suhayr who is busy staring at the photos of their wedding which one of her so called Uncles took earlier. If he doesn't know any better, he'd think she is fan girling inside."Why no- don't tell me you have killed her already?" The voice took another dramatic turn after the first sentence. That is what Sa'eed has been avoiding, the drama that always comes after he gets serious."Don't be stupid. I'll talk to her about it." He saw her perked u
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."I'm leaving for my room and don't come in now or you might see something you can't resist. And you'll have to sleep uneasily the whole night." She released a naughty smile then ambled to her room all the while boiling in anger. What he's said hasn't wore off till then, she don't have the energy or she would've made his night as uncomfortable as she could. The man had the nerve to say nothing could turn him on from her body? He doesn't know what he is getting himself into but she will give him time, she will take him unforeseen. She hates sharing her bedroom nor her bed, no, she hates sharing her apartment in general. If the rooms don't have their bathrooms, she wouldn't have allowed them to grace their presence in
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Due to Tasneem's shriek, her sister awoke and so does her mother Urshia and sister Thuraiya looking horrified at the duo. Suhayr is getting the beat of her life by Tasneem so they only shook their heads and help Suhayr or she gets bruises on that sensitive skin of hers. They are used to Tasneem's quick hands, she likes beating people for littlest mistakes but her beating Suhayr means something big which they are very much anticipating to know. What has she done for her friend to hit her like a lunatic?"What is going on here, young ladies?" Urshia demanded after settling Tasneem on the bed while Suhayr is placed on Thuraiya's bed, they are watching them weirdly.Tasneem is still glaring at a
BORNOEMIRATE COUNCIL."Ha, you are definitely pregnant with twins and bet me!" Maysoon grinned extra widely staring at Suhayr who could only narrow her eyes in annoyance at her little cousin sister."Why do you want me to be pregnant with twins and where the heck did you get that philosophy from?" Suhayr glared at her simply irritated because of so many reasons standing right in front of her that she didn't want to believe.Who would've thought she was going to fall pregnant when her son just clocked two years old?Thank goodness Sa'eed was joking when he gave her the tickets to Mauritius a year ago and simply whispered they are going to make babies. Had that happened, she was sure she would've killed Sa'eed with her bare hands then bury him underneath a hill
BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.Two years later.A bright smile lured it's way to her face, the sun beaming down on her face feeling a sense of accomplishment. She's been waiting for this day since forever and now that it is finally here, she can't wait to get it over and done with. She's written what she wanted to say so many days ago and now, she feels like a teenager presenting again in front of the whole class not that someone like her has ever been intimidated by anyone. Two years is a long time to change someone, she has also changed too like every other person out there. She feels emotions now, so many of them."Are you ready?" The love of her life questioned, his arms looping around her waist as he place his head on her shoulder."More than ready. I just want to get this done and over with. Where is that troublemaker?" She inquires about their one year old son who could ruin the room without as much as losing a tinge of energy reserved for the day. She is su
ABDEEN PALACE, EGYPT."What is the commotion all about?" Suhayr ask one of her personal maids hearing the sounds of people talking, the palace in chaos for the first time since her arrival. The place has always been quite, people talk in hush whispers."Someone came and he wants to see you but the princes and the pharaoh are not letting him come through, your great majesty." Sara explained, her hands deep into the concoction she is making for Suhayr even though she knows she won't take it. That is her work, to always make it each blessed morning whether or not she takes it is not her problem."Me? Who could that be?" Suhayr wondered who would want to see her and her brothers are not letting him. That only leads to one person, none other than Sa'eed because he is the only one they hate from the core of their heart. She stood up then took calming breaths knowing she should not make stupid moves while she is just in her first trimester. It has been a month s
ABDEEN PALACE, EGYPT."What happened, dear?" Her father cooed, wrapping her in his arms like any loving father would. His heart is filled with joy when she rushed to him and gave him a tight hug, he has been wanting her to do that for a long time and she did albeit crying. It tore his him into half knowing he is powerful enough to crush anyone without as much as wasting his energy but his daughter is here crying.Whoever it is that did this, will suffer greatly."I hate him, father! I abhor him so much, I don't want to see him ever again in my life. He, he sent me packing because of a stupid truth behind our marriage! He is not worth it." She cried to her father's chest for so many things that went wrong in her life for the past few weeks. She didn't even get to cry for her biological mother's death with real tears, she didn't do that then but now, she can't hold the tears. She agreed that tears and crying makes us feel more human and sated when they are
BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL."I seriously got scared for a minute there." Suhayr yanked herself away from Sa'eed's embrace while blushing. She felt stupid leaving Chad like that without second thought or even question herself whether that is ever going to happen. Tasneem would never do that to her even if the earth is in her palms for him."You need not be, Leontios, you will always be the perfect candidate. Protocols and etiquettes don't matter at all, no one could surpass you. You, are the perfect choice. There is no one greater than you are." He dive his head and took her lips with his in a passionate kiss filled with love. They both missed each other, so much.He chose his words perfectly like Elizabeth Bourgeret had said, 'A man in love is cautious with the decisions he makes, the words he says and the actions he takes, so he never purposefully cause her pain. He believes in her when she struggles believing in herself. He i
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Suhayr changed into cotton blend block maxi dress featuring a scoop neckline and regular sleeves. Her feet are clasped in new pair of sandals that sat comfortably on her before they left the hospital together with Hakim and Salima who came immediately after hearing that she is in Chad. They don't need to settle any bill as Sa'eed has already done that, she can't thank the man enough no matter what she does. He saved her life, he left his country to come save her like a true hero. So this day is coming, the day Suhayr feels gratefulness that ran deep to her core, that makes her pulse thud and throb in a way she can't explain.'I don’t regret the things I’ve done, I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance.' She thought bitterly in her chest, this is bad. They arrive at the apartment complex with thirteen storeys, very beautiful and looks quite expensive but she didn't question H
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."You are saying that you married him for his money?" Hakim's brows scrunched lowly as he scratch his growing beard in wonder. He knows Suhayr in and out but he never thought she would give away her freedom for money, that sounds absurd to his ears or he might be hearing things. This is something so unlike the Suhayr he knows."What can I do? You know the company wasn't bringing much money then and I need it to survive, don't I?" She got all defensive seeing the judgement clouding his vision, he has always being judgemental and she hates him for that. He is her best friend, they grew up together knowing each other's flaws and because of his flaw, she hardly tells him all her secret and prefer to do it with Tasneem who will fan girl and support her even if she is wrong. She will then make her realise things one after the other, she appreciates that."
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.White, pure white!Everywhere is white, she is staring at the white place where everything white stared back at her like mockery. The walls are white, the mattress where some people are sitting on in white also. There are three of them and their backs are facing her, one male and two females all discussing something that looks intense and serious. Their hands are flailing around as they speak, their backs moving closer to each other so they can listen to one another. She squint her eyes trying to see what is going on and why the whole place is white and so boring to eyes. But why the people look awfully family with the way they talk and glance at one another. Is this another room in Sa'eed's chamber? The man seems to be obsessed with white but who the heck brought her back to his home? Last she remember, they were in Egypt and she ran away after their night got intense. No, she was even in a hotel room in Chad when some men came to assassinate h
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Sa'eed panted as he stared at the hotel above him knowing that is the address given to them about where Suhayr is. He didn't waste any second but made his way inside where the receptionists are staring in a horrific way at the elevator, like something is about to jump out and kill them all which confirmed his thoughts and worst nightmare. He moved slowly not to make them more alarmed and frightened, they didn't notice him and he doesn't have the time of the day so he banished the thought of not scaring them. He banged his hand on the table, they jumped in fright and look at him, all girls."Room 151!" He didn't questioned, he is demanding the card or key to that room and if they love their lives, they won't question him. His eyes are basically burning down the whole place, it won't take much from him to burn them too along with the bricks. Their eyes rounded even more at the mention of the room."Here, Sir." In fright, one of them gave the card
