Christiana's point of view Today of all days I was going to enjoy, after all, I was going to visit my only brother and wanted to celebrate my only living bond. I hoped and prayed. I had no idea how much I have been waiting for that to happen. The whole day with Abraham! It has been over a couple of months since I saw my brother. The last few months I had spent on finding ways to visit him. I had applied an application through the lawyer in court to meet my brother. But a majority of times it got rejected. I wasn’t allowed to meet him during visitor time too. The ‘Burbank City Jail’ is quite strict when it comes to law and following protocols. After so many trials my application was accepted finally! Yes! I had been in the kitchen since 5 in the morning. I was baking a plum cake for Abraham. He was in prison for the rest of the years. I was sure he would love to have it. Plum cakes were his favourite. He would never say no to them. Well, Abraham wasn’t aware of my plans. I purposel
Tiger – my husband rushed to me with the plum cake – he rushed to the gates of the prison, taking the plum cake, fruits, waffles, and croissants which, I had bought for my brother and had forgotten in the car in hurry. I was outside the gates of ‘Burbank City Jail’. “Thank you,” I grabbed all of them from him whilst thanking him.I was to enter inside but, “Madam, please wait. You cannot take all of this inside. It is against our law and protocol.” The guards outside did not allow me to enter. My fear turned out to be true.“But…” I spoke softly.“Madam, I am sorry. But we cannot let you go inside.” The guard's jail obstructed my way. “Please let me sneak in, I am visiting my brother after months. Please, I will keep this in my mind while visiting the next time.” I pleaded before them while requesting at the same time.“No, we cannot. If you want to go inside with all this food, you need to get an application signed by the judge. Until and unless you do that, I cannot help you out.” O
Christiana’s point of viewOugh!“I am tired,” I mumbled. “I cannot wait any more,” I said to myself while rushing to the bus stop. Huh! Luckily, I did not have hard luck that time. I got the bus very easily. “Ah! I do not have to wait.” I sighed. “Huh!” I took a deep breath. After twenty minutes I arrived at the mansion. I was early than usual. I usually used to come by six in the evening, but that day was different.“Wow!”“You are back.” Miss Daisy said to me while welcoming me.“Yes, Miss Daisy,” I said to her while giving a warm hug to her. She caresses my hair as usual whilst leaving for her room. That feeling was special to me.The moment I stepped forward, I was shocked. Shocked – seeing Tiger. Tiger was at home. Why was he at home? It was just five in the evening. It was a little surprising. He usually used to be back by seven or eight in the evening. “Wait!” He commanded. I feared. “Has he got to know about the reality? Reality – about my job.” I mumbled. But changed my
Christiana’s point of view “You are sure you are alright?” Annoyed. He seemed quite annoyed. Know not why, but he was. Ough!“It doesn’t seem like.” I continued further. “Yeah, this is perfect. Despite being at fault, you are blaming me. Wow!” He replied. Clueless! I was clueless. Didn’t know what was going on in his mind. “Sorry, if you will not tell me what exactly it is. Then, how will I know?” “Well, fine. Okay, let me be specific and clear as you said before.”“Who was that guy with whom you were there at the bus stop while coming to the mansion?”“Guy!” I exclaimed. “Yes, guy. Tell me the truth. And mind you do not lie. I hate lies and liars. The guy with whom you were having a conversation was near the bus stop. Also, he was in his black Bentley.” He added further. I was dismayed hearing him. My heart catches in my throat whilst my hands flew to my chest. They were frozen in their place. Stomach twisted. “Umm… Well, I…” I could not speak further as he interrupted. “Yes, pl
I stole a glance from outside the glowing red sun while opening the windows and reached out to turn off the night lights in my room. My eyes travel in the room to see whether my dearest husband was there or not. Tiger wasn’t there in the room. He was already gone. I grinned and jumped out of bed. I went to the washroom and gazed at my face. Good enough. I ran to the basin brushed my teeth, took the shower, and got myself ready all in black. Black happened to be my favorite color. It had been more than a month since I had been hiding things from Tiger and others and going for a job that way. It meant it had been a month since I worked at the NAIMIE’S BURBANK. Also, Joseph and I had been working together under the same roof for a month. Ah! I felt lucky to share my workspace with my childhood friend. Well, for the last few weeks, I had been quite busy as usual. My eyes were red and there were dark circles under them. It was my starting days of job – things were quite hectic though exc
After a long while, I finally got up and boarded the bus to the work. I pushed through the Church Street until I get to the Naimie's Street.Huh! Finally! I had reached. I looked for the receptionist for I wanted to know about HR sir's presence.I looked here and there, probably she was there in the washroom. I sat down on the chair while controlling my emotions and waited for the receptionist. It was already more than 10 minutes. I could not afford to waste my time anymore. So, slipped away from there. “Is HR sir available?” I asked one of the staff. While I was on my way to my cabin, I met one of the staff.“Yes, he is there in the office.” He replied. "Ah! finally." I let out a sigh.“Is it possible to meet him now? Can you let me know?” I asked him politely and humbly. Requested."Okay, ma'am. Please wait here, I shall return in few minutes."Oh! JesusNeed your help.. . “Madam, you can go.” A voice came from behind while I was seated on the chair outside HR sir’s room.“Oka
Christiana's point of view Ough! I got off work exactly at 6 p.m. and returned home as soon as possible. I blared the loud music to hear nothing from outside and figure out things. Huh! All in vain. My hands were still shaking whilst having dinner. I was sitting in my thoughts. Though it had been more than a couple of hours since I had come from the office. I cannot tell why I was shaking. Was it the fear of not arranging the money or because of having the dinner hurriedly? Or was it my job? With the constant work traffic at the workplace and my issues, it was rare that I could find peace. I longed for peace that day more than any other day before. I barely got any time to figure out things that happened in recent days. I was already dealing with my contract marriage and job then. Moreover, a major part of me was dormant. But God had to test my patience more. There were only a few days left in my hands. I had to arrange the money anyhow to get my brother's bail. I wanted him o
Christiana's point of view Before coming up to that conclusion, I had a miserable time. MISERABLE. I was crying, yelling, and slamming doors. My stomach was twisting, my hands were trembling, and my cheeks were burning. I was scared! BROKEN HEARTED. HEAVY HEART. SUNK HEART I was weighed down by the feeling of sadness. My heart sank all the more after heading towards the place where I was not supposed to. With flaccid muscles, drooping eyelids, red eyes, and a hanging head, I approached the person I was not supposed to. I wasn’t. Yes. Huh! Why did I even go there? How did I even think that she will help me out? Never. Never means. I was such a fool to approach her. Such an idiosyncratic soul I was. She – may stepmother. Ough! Yes, I met her finally. All those days I had made excuses about her name, but that day I went to her place. Her place. It ain’t her place, it was my parents' place. The dream world that they had created, love, affection and hard-earned money were the base and
