MAKE A CHOICE

The scattering of the things on the floor echoed in the entire office, the manner less guests who had decided to budge in without notice freezing on the spot.

A week had passed since Sofia's escapades with her boss started. The office was never silent like before again. It was either the faint sound of the files or the clicking sound of their lips and soft moans. The walls had held their secrets dearly, but the thought of their little dirty secrets getting discovered still lingered in Sofia's head. Ethan, on the other hand, usually refuted talking about the dangers that lay ahead. He never even wanted to talk about Amber, and what would happen is what she discovered.

Standing frozen at the closed door were the receptionist, Grace, and Sofia's friend, Liza. They seemed extremely baffled and taken aback by the scene that welcomed them.

Sofia, who had now managed to untangle herself from Ethan's hands and leaped from his lap, stood a safe distance, while Ethan glared at the two people standing at the door. His glare bore zero hints of being apologetic for being caught in such a compromising situation with his stuff. He didn't look like he gave a fuck about his affair being brought to light.

"You both will lose your jobs this month if you don't give a satisfying explanation for this disrespect!" He roared, his voice tinged with raspy. His eyes still held that crimson look of the cut-short desires in them.

Grace cleared his throat, opting to speak first while Liz was still befuddled, glaring at her friend over the boss' desk with a questioning look. "Our apologies, sir," Grace started, bowing slowly in respect and remorse. "We have an uncontrollable situation outside."

Ethan's face changed. "What situation?" He seemed curious.

"Miss Amber Montana is intent on seeing. I tried explaining your orders, but she refused to leave. She is causing a scene outside!" Grace explained.

Sofia's mind snapped to that woman. She had been her nightmare of late. Amber looked like the kind that would turn the world upside down to get what she wanted or keep what belonged to her. And she had all the resources and reasons. Sofia knew she was nothing to Amber, and that worried her sick. Besides, they still had not defined what they had going on with Ethan. Was it a relationship? A fling? Why did he need her when he had a complete package like Amber Montana?

"Tell the security to drag her out if need be. I don't intend to see her!"

Okay. Sofia was really curious and lost now. What kind of boyfriend manhandles her woman like that? Like, he was not even going to meet her personally and tell her to leave nicely?

"As you say, boss. Please excuse us!" Grace said and dragged Liz, who was hesitant. They run out to pass the boss' order to the intended audience.

"Is she really your fiancee? The ring that she is wearing really yours? Because your situation is confusing." Sofia blurted out when they were left alone.

Ethan looked at her, his hand finding its way to her face. He scanned her face for a while, as if searching for something. Then he leaned in, kissing her slowly and gently, as if conveying a message. Then he pulled away, boring his eyes in hers. "You should go home."

Go home? Was that how he was going to dismiss her?

"What am I to you, Ethan? You have a fiancee on the one hand whom you don't want to talk about, and on the other hand, you are fooling around with me. What games are you playing, Ethan Montereal?" Sofia asked, suddenly feeling the urge to demand answers.

"Ethan Montereal does not play any games," he spoke, his voice deep and low. "I need you in ways you can never imagine, Sofia Rodgers," he nuzzled her cheek with his thumb before speaking again. "And I fear for you. Because you are so different. I am too much for you."

Sofia's heart shattered at his words.

She was different, and that she knew from the beginning. He was too much, and that went without making unnecessary noise. He was everything she would never be distinct and mercilessly loaded. Even the aura he exuded commanded her own. But hadn't she said that to him a week ago? And he, in response, claimed her. He said that she was his. Why was he seeing the difference just now?

"Have you had sex before?" He enquired.

She met his eyes, lost at what he was getting at. Would any answer to his question bring about a common ground for them, or what was the basis of his question? "Yes. Two years ago!" Her initial decision was to avoid his question as she deemed it irrelevant, but the truth rolled out on its own.

He nodded. "Two years, and you have not had sex?" He asked again, making her uncomfortable. But she shook her head timidly in response. "Two things will happen once you taste Ethan Bradley Montereal."

Curiosity piqued in her as she paid more attention to his next words.

"It is either you will get addicted to my ways of loving and making love, or you will forever hate me and anything that has to do with sex. I can't tell which one it will be, but I am certain of one thing," he wavered.

"What is that?" She asked, his words still hanging like a crow in her head. His riddles left her torn and lost.

"I am certain that you have awakened me in ways that I have always desired, Sofia. And I am scared for you."

Sofia sunk into more disarray. Again, what did he mean? What was it about that Sofia needed to be wary of? Why was he so worried about her falling for him? What were his ways of loving that scared him so much administering them to her?

"Would you please speak more clearly?" Sofia pleaded, still swimming in the sweet warmth of his embrace. "You are speaking in riddles that I don't quite understand. It is clear to me that there is something I need to know about you, Ethan. What is it? Tell me. I will know how to handle whatever it is."

He took a long blink, taking in a good amount of air while his thumb caressed her cheek. Deep inside, she could tell he was fighting an inner battle. Something so strong and serious that it scared her.

He peeled his eyes, full of desire and something that bordered pity or something close to that. "When the time is right, you will know. For now, you need to head home." He sealed her lips with a kiss that she didn't respond to, but she didn't push him away either.

After he pulled away, he pecked her forehead and returned to his table. He sank on his swivel seat. His entire back leaning on the backrest of the seat, and his head falling back, eyes shut.

Sofia took that as a sign that she needed not to pressure him on the same issue. He loved him so much, and the most important thing was that her feelings were reciprocated. She knew he desired her in all the ways that he described, perhaps even more than she had dreamed of.

"You don't want me to stay with you for a little longer? I am not in a hurry. I could help relax your mind." She couldn't tell how she had covered the distance between them. Now she stood in the gap between his open legs, drooling over his gorgeous features.

He didn't open his eyes. He closed his legs, locking her to himself. He peeled his eyes, and they were darker than anything Sofia had seen. She tried taking a step back, but she was sealed by his legs; she only managed to stagger forward, falling on top of him.

Then she felt it.

How firm it was poking at her from beneath.

She couldn't breathe anymore.

"I am giving you one more last chance to walk away, Sofia. But if you choose to stay, please know that not even your screams will make me stop when I start. Make a choice!"
