Megan's POV
"Steve, listen to me." I snapped at him. He glanced briefly at me before he averted his gaze."That band is..." I trailed off.How do I explain this to him without giving Melanie off? He glanced at me and let out a scoff."Seems you are scared of admitting the fact that the band endangers her life."
"No, that's not it." I sighed. "Infact, I owe you no explanation as to why she needs the band." I glared at him."Then I'm in for the band." He finalized and tried to walk away, towards Melanie's ward.
However, I stopped him with a pull of his hand before he could get any further."You won't dare do that."
"And why?" He yelled and I kept quiet. "Why? Cause I can't watch her die just because I couldn't get the band off her wrist." Tears clouded his eyes."Who fed you such nonsense? She isn't going to die." I told him but he yanked free his hand from my grip.
Steve's POVI sighed heavily when I fluttered my eyes open from the sudden feeling of looming danger. I looked round me and realized I was still at the hospital. I must have slept off when I sat down atter my little chat with Mrs Spears, Melanie's mom.It was of little surprise to me that I do not recall what exactly we were arguing about. I didn't know the words I said to her. I wasn't even sure if I was rude or not. The only thing I could recall is something about my memories. I asked her yet she didn't give me any good explanation.Did she give an explanation at all? No! She blatantly and skillfully avoided answering my question. And all these wasn't really surprising as one would think I'd be. It isn't surprising to me anymore that I forget specific things nowadays. It happened some months ago and it happened again today. I wonder what exactly is wrong with me.I glanced at my wristwatch and realized it was nighttime alrea
Steve's POVSchool wasn't much fun today, most especially, now that Melanie isn't here. There wasn't much difference between the two situations though. But still her presence makes the whole difference. If she was here, our endless chit chat and little fights would be on. If she was here, we'd have had a brief movie night yesterday and I'd be here trying to keep her awake in History class. I yawned at that thought."Till tomorrow, students." The history teacher said before exiting the class."You looked stressed out. I hope all is good?""Had a rough night." I sighed. I raised my head briefly to see who I just replied."You?" I gaped at Nancy. I never expected to see her.I really haven't been seeing much of her around lately. She just seems distant."Yeah, it's me." She smiled and sat down beside me, apparently on Janet's seat."How have you been?""Pretty good." She shrugged."I haven't been seeing
Observer's POVEvery view narrator was down. Sage brought them down and made some of them captives.I, your invisible observer, will give the details till we're all good to go.Oh! I thought I'd need a dramatic appearance but no! This is all cool.As for now, the sovereign reports aren't much. I'll just give a summary.~Melanie laid close to being lifeless at the hospital. Steve was going insane bit by bit from the different unbelievable occurrences that were taking place in his life.Suzy was nowhere to be found, as she has been taken captive. No one knew her whereabouts nor did they believe she was missing. Those that were in the car with her the day she was taken seems to have lost their memories along with their boss, Suzy.A bit of their memories has been wiped out. They had forgotten the part of being in the car together while a whirlwind attacked their car. All they could remember was that th
Observer's POVHere I am again, guys! I'm sorry for the short break I went on. We should hurry back to our heros and heroines. That's right! I need to give a brief report of the "so far so good".Well, Sage, the long time enemy, insisted on frustrating the life out of our Steve. He needed to break him to mould him. He wanted to use Steve as a bait to extract all he wants from the royal magical beings.Steve, at the moment, had no one to turn to. Everyone would think he's insane if he told them he had a little foreknowledge of all that's happening in the city. And that they're somehow connected to him!Besides, who's ready to listen to him? To the fake folklore of a young high schooler? That was the situation of Steve as he stood rooted to the same spot he had been at two hours ago. The steam like rain had stopped. Reporters and scientists were still lingering everywhere yet Steve stood still under the shade. He was lost in
Daisy's POV"Oh my God!" I gasped. "Why the hell would they put up this form of security?"I ducked as I saw an arrow fly towards me.Only God knows where those are coming out from.I can't believe I'm stuck in this room. Even my powers became inactive as soon as I stepped into this room.I traced my steps forward, slowly as I tried not to get hit by an arrow. I kept on dodging the never ending arrows till I successfully left the place behind. Or so I thought!Phew! I heard a sound right next to my ear and thanks to the standby environment consciousness, I was able to avoid whatever it was.But almost immediately, several daggers came out from God knows where, all aimed at me.I, the intruder - obviously!I should have brought something along to ward off these things if I knew they'd be here."Oh!" I hissed from the pain that shot through my whole body. One of the daggers had just hit me fro
(Few Years Ago)“What is it that you’re not telling me, Dad?” a young man furiously asked his father. The old man ignored his son’s question and head to his private library.“Dad!” the man called as he went after him to the enclosed space. “You shouldn’t ignore me, dad.” He slammed the door behind him.“I need you to tell me why you aren’t in support of my decision.” He said. The older man raised his head to cast a quick glance on his son.“No reason in particular.” He shrugged slightly.“But dad…” the young man tried to argue but his father stopped him with a raise of his hand.“No buts, Mike. You won’t marry her and that’s final.” He strictly told him. “C’mon, that girl doesn’t even know who she is or where she is from. She could be dangerous.”“But she isn’t.” Mike countered.“No excuse, Mike. You will not marry her.”“This is the last time I’d ask for your permission concerning this issue, dad.”Mike fumed in an
Megan's POVI opened my eyes slowly and stared at my surroundings to be sure I was at the right place. Unlike what I expected, everywhere looked good and serene. The place was as silent as a graveyard."Am I really at the right place?" I muttered under my breath.Unexpectedly, a bright light shone from my right hand side. I lifted my hand to shield my eyes from the bright light. It was really eye blinding. It suddenly reduced its brightness and I was finally able to see clearly without shielding my face. I lowered my hand and stared at where the light came from.I noticed no one was there."What was that?" I asked no one but myself.I began to walk to nowhere in particular until a force drew me back. I screamed out in shock. After few seconds that seemed like eternity, the motion stopped."Geez!" I sighed as I wiped off the beads of sweat that had formed on my face."Wh
58Observer’s POVDoctor Robert and the fear stricken nurse looked on at Melanie’s convulsing body that continued to jerk uncontrollably.“What do we do?” the nurse asked.Robert was confused and didn’t know exactly what to do. He couldn’t show his lack of ideas in front of the young inexperienced nurse. It wouldn’t speak well of him if he did that. All he could do was to watch.Right before the heart monitor could reach zero, everything stood still. Time was stopped and Marianna walked in. She glanced briefly at the two medical practitioners and headed toward hospital bed.The girl had stopped convulsing immediately Marianna stepped in.Marianna held out her hand towards Melanie and just as if a miracle had been performed, Melanie’s eyes forced. A light gasp scaped through her mouth. She looked round the room for a minute before her eyes got fixed on the held out hands.
EPILOGUE<<MELANIE>>I breathed a heavy sigh of relief as I handed over the mic to Kate, who hurriedly passed me a bottle of water.“Thank you,” I muttered. I opened the bottle and drank from it.“You are all sweaty!” Kate frowned. “But you were definitely great back there.” She squeaked happily. I shook my head negatively with a smile on my face. Dramatic Kate!“She’s definitely not as open to me as she is to you.” I turned when I heard that voice.“Suzy!” I squealed as I ran to her. Her arms were wide open already, calling me for an embrace.“Girl, you were great out there on that stage.” She kissed my cheeks. “I almost couldn’t recognize you.” I laughed at her flattering. “All thanks to you and the staff.” She smiled. “And where’s John?” I asked as I looked behind her to see if he was with her.“He didn’t…” Suzy tried to answer.“Over here, sweetheart.” I saw John waved at me. “Hey,” I moved away from Suzy to meet
I fell on my knees as I struggled to breathe. I truly felt life getting drained out of me. I couldn’t breathe and I could see my hands getting dark. It all felt as though something was eating me up.I glanced at Melanie and she had that proud look on her face that showed how pleased she was to have deceived me. I was a complete fool to think she had regained her senses. The dark tissue was spreading on and on from my palms to my arms. Melanie wasn’t herself anymore and that was a sure fact. But regardless of any other thing, this might be the last time I see my best friend, the Melanie I love and not the one in front of me.With this in mind, despite the evil glare she had on her face and my lack of strength, I summoned every last bit of the strength in me. I held her hands in mine. They felt extremely hot.She arched her brows at me.“I can see you’re a strong one.” She smirked. “You…” I cut her off.“I love you.”She instantly froze. For a moment,
72Melanie’s POV“Stab yourself.”She smirked.“Wh- what?” I stuttered in disbelief.“That’s the only way.” She shrugged. “You have to spill blood.”I scoffed.“Are you kidding me right now?”“No,” she smiled. “Are you ready to cross that boundary?”“Why in the world would she need to stab herself?” Steve frowned.“That’s the only thing that can stop this. You need no further explanation. Are you willing to do it to save your people?” she stared intently at me. “Both the humans and the supernatural.”I sighed as I ran my fingers through my hair. I definitely didn’t expect this. To save everyone completely, I’d make the sacrifice.I heard loud screams which made me turn abruptly. I watched wide-eyed as buildings came crashing down. People began to run out of their houses. However, before they could go far, most of them got hit by flying bricks. I glanced at the source of the turmoil. The dragon was con
Melanie’s POVI pulled up the knife and steadied myself to stand to my feet. Releasing a shaky breath, I began to walk over to the rest of the family as I kept the knife safe in my pocket.Sage was gone. Everyone has been set free from his evil clutches and his destructive ambitions.Walking absentmindedly, I almost lost my balance when I stumbled on something. I averted my gaze from the space and glanced at what made me stumbled. I realized it was Janet’s lifeless body. The tears I never knew I had pent-up flooded my face as I stared at the lifeless body of the girl I called my friend. I sobbed uncontrollably as I fell to her side. Lifting up her cold hands, I pulled her into an embrace. She might have betrayed me but she was once my friend. And she will ever be!“I’m sorry,” I whispered. My body trembled slightly as the feelings I bottled up all burst out with my tears. No matter wha
Melanie's POV"Don't you dare!" I growled when I saw Clara's high hand. In her hand was the supposed sacred knife - that, I recognized.Clara turned to me with surprise evident on her face. But sad for her, 'cause as soon as she turned, she was struck by an electrifying ray that emitted from my hands. She was sent flying across the room. She let out a loud scream when her back came in contact with the furnitures. Crashing sounds filled the atmosphere.I moved closer to her with the unending ray and she got pinned to the tiled floor. I didn't want her to stand up.When I was sure she was trapped and unable to move, I hurriedly traipsed over to Daisy. I pulled her up from the floor and shook her without much force."Daisy?"Her eyes opened slightly before they went close. Her body went cold immediately. I instantly became furious.Clara should pay for this. I don't care if I don't get to kno
Megan's POV"Oh my God! Melanie?" I called in surprise. My eyes watered as they got themselves fixed on my dear daughter.I was so excited to see her here. Even though I didn't know when she got discharged and how she got here, I was still very much glad she was right here in front of my eyes. But before we could go about the mother daughter reunion, Sage spoke up."Well... well... well," he began, saying those words in a music like format. "Look who we have here. I didn't think you'd be up after all we got them to do to you." He stated. No wonder! I kind of knew Sage was the mastermind of all that happened with Melanie. But it was hard to ascertain that fact since he got his job done without any trace.Melanie walked away from me as I teleported over to the rest of my team. The look on Steve's face showed he couldn't be more glad."Nice to finally meet you again," Melanie greeted Sage scornfully. She folded her
Megan's POV"It's a recall spell if you don't know." I heard Morgana's voice.Right there and then, she also came into the picture, alongside Morgan and the army. I smiled. This turned out to be a perfect plan after all."Now, it's a thousand against one." Morgan said with a slight smile.Sage moved back a bit, creating enough space between us all."How come I never knew?" He wondered."That's cause it wasn't an immediate thing. The spell was meant to take time before it takes its effect ... to avoid suspicion." Morgana explained with a sad smile on her face.I wondered why she looked sad despite the smile. Her smile didn't reach her eyes."Who did this?" Sage asked with squinted eyes. "Cause I'm sure this isn't a thing back at the kingdom. This is related to black magic." He frowned."Yeah, it isn't a thing in our world since it's a spell." Morgana shrugged. "But someone went extra miles to pr
Megan's POVI stood at the centre of the city with Steve, Sage and his captives. Sage's eyes never left mine while he waited patiently for me to make my decision.Something kept telling me not to surrender. It kept trying to make me see enough reasons, as to why I needed not go surrender. One reason that kept on hammering was the fact that Sage could actually make me surrender and still not release his captives. One of the many reasons that left me strong-headed was how Sage was my culprit, who I needed to bring to book. If I surrender to him without fighting back, all our efforts from the onset would be a total waste of time and manpower."You're taking much time to decide, Megan." He complained. One thing about him that I've noticed is he always call my name, at any slight opportunity he gets.I ignored him and turned to Steve."What does she mean to you?" I questioned. He doesn't need any
Megan's POVI coughed slightly from the smoke that filled the atmosphere. Everywhere was clouded with smoke and I wondered how much damage Sage has caused to the whole city.I trod along the road carefully, squinting my eyes to see if there was any other person around. Following Sage landed us here and I haven't seen him. The smoke wasn't helping as well. I ensured I held on to Steve carefully. As we continued to move forward, the atmosphere suddenly became clearer. I almost sighed in relief but was caught off guard when an arrow flew my way. Reflexively, I dodged the arrow. My eyes darted towards the direction it came from. I wasn't surprised to see Sage but what surprised me was the army that stood in lines right behind him."This is going to be bloody." I heard Steve mutter behind me."We'll take care of this. Don't be scared." I told him, without turning to look at him. My eyes was fixed on Sage and his army.&nb
