"Push Ms temi.....you're almost there.....push harder" Victoria said to the woman as she screamed.

" you can do it ma'am, you can do it....yeah....y

eah....that's it " she said then the baby came out slowly until he was all out crying.

" woww, you did it......congratulations it's a boy" she announced then show the mother after cutting the placenta.

" ohh....he's so beautiful" Vickie exclaimed and move closer to the woman.

" phew.....thank you doctor" the woman said touching the baby.

" you did most of the hard job.....so good job" victoria said then handed the baby to one of the nurse.

" clean him up will you" she said to the nurse.

" okay doctor" the nurse said then went went out.

" congrats once again" Vickie said then went out of the operating room.

After she went out and heard noises from outside the hospital then she draw closer to the nurse.

" what's happening?.....what's with the noise" she asked.

" A family was brought in a minute ago.....it seems they were involve in an accident" the nurse answered.

" oh my God...a whole family?" Victoria asked.

" yes doctor, A man and his kids" the nurse said.

" that's so bad" she said then went to check on those that are causing the noise.

As she was going out to the lobby she met with one of the doctors.

" hy doctor Samuel " Victoria said.

" Doctor Silva, please come with me" he said and she was confused.

" is everything alright?" she asked as she noticed his unpleasant countenance.

" Just come with let's have a word in my office" the doctor said.

" oh okkay" Victoria said then as she was about to follow him, she notice some of the nurses staring at her which she find weird.

" Gregory, you have to tell me what's going on now" she said to the doctor but he couldn't say anything.

" Doctor Silva, The news" one of the nurse said pointing to the TV then she turned.

Newscaster: A very sad day in Clifton city as the commissioner of police Abraham Da silva and his family are involve in a ghastly accident.

They've been rushed to the hospital as the police are investigating the matter as we speak............

" oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God" victoria repeated continuously as tears dropped from her face.

" please calm down......Doctor Silva" Doctor Samuel said.

" thh...ttt...thaaat....that's mmy mmmy.....fam...

..oh God" she stuttered as she made to go over to them but doctor Samuel stopped her.

" Let me go Greg......that's my family in there" she shouted crying.

" please Vicky, calm down.....they will be fine.........Doctor Hakeem and the others are there with them......please control yourself" doctor Samuel consoled.

" Nothing must happen to them......nothing must happen to any of them" she cried as she fell on the floor.

" they will be fine Vicky, please gather yourself and be strong for them" doctor Samuel said.

" my phone....wh...where's my phone I....i..need to call my mom" she said then went to her office.

She entered hurriedly then dialled her mother's number.

(A while later)

Police officers have filled the hospital immediately they heard about the commissioner involved in an accident.

Mrs Silva and her youngest daughter Grace ran inside hospital and started running around.

" where's my family? ......where's my husband and my kids?" she shouted as she ran to where the police men are.

" please calm down ma" one of the police man said.

" don't tell me to calm down......just tell me where my family are" she said.

" the doctors are attending in the VIP section" the officer answered then they ran towards the VIP room.

" Mom.....that's sister" Grace said pointing to Victoria with some police officer.

" Victoria.........what happened to them?" Mrs Silva said as they went to her.

" Mommmm" Victoria called as she went to hug her mother.

" just tell me Victoria.......what's wrong?" Mrs Silva asked crying.

" Mom, they were involved in an accident" Victoria said when only aroused more tears.

" so what's the doctor saying?" she asked.

" we are still waiting for them" Victoria said.

" what really happened, inspector?" she asked one of the officers.

" ma'am, we don't know but there are bullet holes on the car and some eye witnesses said they saw a car shooting at them" the inspector said.

" The constable driving the car is dead" he added.

" whaaaaaaat" they exclaimed.

" who are they?" Victoria asked.

" we don't know, but we are doing everything possible to find them and we will" the inspector assured.

Then after a while they doctor came out and his countenance isn't something good.

" Doctor Hakeem, how are they? " Victoria asked.

" doctor......how is my family?" Mrs Silva asked.

" I'm so sorry ma'am, your husband and daughter are already dead when they brought them in" he said.

" Nnnnoooooooo" the Family cried out.

" Doctor.....what are you talking?......this can't be happening" Victoria said crying.

" I'm sorry doctor Silva" the doctor said.

" No...no....it can't be.....it can't my family......No God....it can't be....whyyyyyyy" Mrs Silva cried.

" God.....whatttt...have we done to deserve thisssss" she cried bitterly.

" I'm so sorry ma'am, I really am" the doctor said with tears dropping from his eyes.

" I'm so sorry, victoria" he said consoling her as she cry.

" whyyy....is this happening to us?.....whyyyy?" she cried as tears continue dropping from the officers as well.

" Doctor......you said father and daughter.......What about the son? " the inspector asked.

" He is severely injured, he suffered lots of injuries, we manage to remove eight bullets from his body, he lost too much of blood and..... "

" Doctor......just tell us what happen" the officer asked.

" he's in Coma" the doctor said which only draw more tears from them.

" Doctor, do everything in your power to save him" the inspector said.

" we will.........I'm sorry for your loss " the said then left.

(Later that day)

Mrs Silva and her daughters sat beside Desmond bed and hold his hand as she cried.

" Please Desmond.....you need to come back..... I can't lose you too, this is becoming too much for me..... This becoming unbearable for me" she said.

" losing all my family in one day isn't something I wished for, God why is this happening to us?" she cried.

" Desmond you need to come back for us.....we need you now Desmond.....please you need to be back" she cried.

" I can't take this anymore" she cried.

" whoever did this to my family is heartless, making me widow and lose a child at the same time...while another is fighting for his life on the hospital bed" she cried her heart out.

" the person is heartless cause we didn't deserve this" she cried more.

Desmond's POV

(Two weeks later)

I opened my eyes to a very heavy headache, it's like a train is passing through my head and more like someone is hitting my head with a hammer.

And after a while the headache went down, I looked around and realised I'm in a hospital.

I tried to remember what really happened but I couldn't, then after a while all the memories flooded back in.

" oh my God, Dad.....Mercy" I said out loud as I remember the position I saw them last.

I tried to move but I couldn't Then a nurse entered and immediately she saw me she was surprised.

" ohh you're awake...... DOCTOR " she shouted then went out.

Not long after a doctor came in then put his stethoscope on my chest.

" hy Desmond, I'm glad you finally awoke" the doctor said.

" doctor, what about my father and sister?" Desmond asked.

" why don't you just relax while I do some more test to make sure you're alright" the doctor said then I lie back down.

" do you feel pain anywhere in your body?" he asked.

" only if I tried to move" I answered.

" more reason for you to gather your strength and heal properly.....okay" he said.

" okay doctor,...but you still haven't answer my question.........how's my father and sister?......we are in the car together and the policeman" I said.

" keep calm........i will send your sister to you now" he said then went out.

I wondered why he just couldn't answer my question but instead ignored them, after a while the door opened then my family entered.

" Desmond, you're awake" Victoria said as they entered.

" Mom" I called as they came over to me.

" Desmond, thank God for answering my prayer" my mom said.

" I'm glad you're awake, brother" grace said holding my hand.

" it's okay baby.......I'm fine" I said to her.

" how are feeling?" Vickie asked.

" I'm fine, big sis" I said.

" are you sure?........if there's anything please tell me" she said.

" Sis.....I'm fine really" I said.

" thank you for staying alive for me.......thank you" mom said crying.

" Mom, please don't cry.......you know I can't stand to see you crying" I said to her then I noticed that I didn't see my dad and my other sister.

" how is dad and Mercy?.......i asked the doctor but he's trying to dodge my question......where are they?......are they okay?" I asked then I noticed their countenance.

" Mom, what's the matter?" I asked as I see her crying but she didn't say anything.

" what's happening?.......why are you all crying?" I asked looking at them.

" we lost them Desmond, they both died in the accident" Vickie said and I was brain dead for a second.

" wh...wh..what do....wh..what are you talking about? " I asked shaking.

" they couldn't make it Desmond, they didn't" she said then break into tears.

" No, this can't be true......they can't die" I said turning to Grace.

" No grace, they are not dead..... Mercy, mercy is not dead, they can't die" I said crying.

" Nooo, Nooooooo....... Aaaahhhh" I cried out.

Why would this happen? Why do we have to go through this? This isn't the way I wanted my holiday to be.

No one is supposed to die most especially not Mercy, she's too young for this to happen to her.

Author's POV

(Hours Later)

Desmond refused to eat but after so many pleading from his mother and sister, he agreed.

Just as his younger sister was feeding him, police officers trooped into his ward.

" Good morning, Mrs Silva" the ASP(assistant superintendent of police) said.

" Good morning, sir" Mrs Silva replied.

" I'm so glad you're awake Desmond, I came immediately I heard you're awake" the ASP said.

" My name is ASP Alvin Onuma and I'm so sorry for your loss" he said.

" thank you" Desmond replied.

" I'm so sorry to disturb you at this moment but I want you help us in our investigation" ASP said.

" what do you need? " Desmond asked immediately.

" what do you say about the shooter?....do you think it was a random shooting or they deliberately target your car?" ASP asked.

" it's not a random shooting.......the assassins knew exactly their target " Desmond said.

" can you tell us exactly what happened?" he asked.

" Yesterday when......."

" yesterday?" The ASP asked confused then turn to Mrs Silva.

" Uhmm...Desmond, the incident happened two weeks ago" Victoria said.

" whaaat?.......two weeks?" He said in surprise.

" yes it's been two weeks" ASP confirmed.

" do you know if your husband had any quarrel with anyone? " he asked Mrs Silva.

" No.....he was a man who wanted peace for everyone" Mrs Silva replied.

" do you see any of the shooters?" he asked.

" they were of them and I saw their faces" Desmond said.

" that means you can recognize them if you see them" he said.

" yes " Desmond answered then the ASP bring out a file.

" your father was a great man......an inspiration to us all......he put a lot of criminals behind bars...... He dedicated all his work to his country " the ASP said.

" Here are the Criminal that got out of prison, check their and see if you can recognize any of them.

Desmond collected the file from him and started going through the pictures, he looked at all the pictures but he didn't recognize anyone.

" none of them are here" Desmond said.

" are you sure?" he asked.

" I'm sure" Desmond said.

" no problem, but I want you to know that we will never stop until we get them........i promise" he said.

" thank you sir" Desmond said.

" get well soon " he said then went out.

The rest of the officers also went out after him.

" I seriously can't believe this morons, why can't they do a clean job" I muttered then went to a well secluded place.

I brought out my phone then scrolled through my contacts then dialled thier number.

" hello" I said immediately someone picked up.

" hello boss" one of them said who I recognize to be panther.

" you f***ked up big time" I said angrily.

" what happen boss?" he asked.

" the boy is alive and he saw your face.......all of you......you know what that means?" I said angrily.

" the boy must be something......i can't believe he would survive that" he said.

" if he see your picture anywhere and recognize you.......you will be wanted which could bounce back to me" I said.

" what do you want us to do?" he asked.

" you need to finish your job........not now but I will update you when the time is right just get prepared" I said.

" okay boss" he said then ended the call.
