Zane’s POV

"I need to warn Autumn…"

The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.

But then I froze.

No… She won’t believe me. Not after everything. Not after the way I treated her… after I rejected her… after I let her walk away thinking I hated her.

If I go to her now, she’ll think I’m trying to break her marriage. That I’m just being possessive. She’ll push me away again.

Damn it!

I ran a hand through my hair, pacing across my office like a storm trapped in a box.

I looked out the window, fists clenched, heart racing.

She’s in danger. Valen is in danger. My son…

Even if she doesn’t trust me, I can’t sit still. I won’t.

If she won’t listen to me, I’ll protect her from the shadows. I’ll keep Marc in check, dig deeper into his secrets, and make sure not a damn thing touches her or Valen.

I couldn’t stay away. Not from him.

If Autumn wouldn’t let me near, I’d find another way.

So I used my influence—something I rarely did for personal matters.

Autumn’s POV I don’t know what came over me… but I needed to see him. Maybe to yell, maybe to demand answers, or maybe… to see that face again and remind myself why I have to stay away. Before leaving, I called Hanna. “Autumn, my flight got canceled due to the storm. I’ll be there tomorrow morning,” she said apologetically. “It’s okay,” I replied softly, then hesitated. “I need to tell you something.” “What is it?” “I’m getting married… to Marc. In a month.” There was silence on the other end. “Wow,” she finally breathed. “That’s… sudden.” “I know,” I whispered. “But I need to do this. For Valen. For peace.” “Alright,” she said gently. “When I reach tomorrow, we’ll start preparing everything together. You’re not alone in this.” A small smile tugged at my lips. “Thank you, Hanna.” After ending the call, I took a deep breath, grabbed my coat, and stepped out into his office I reached Zane’s office building with a tight knot in my chest. Autumn pov As I closed the door behind me, exhausted from the stormy encounter with Zane, a familiar voice brought a smile to my face. “Auntie’s home!” Valen squealed with joy, running toward the door. Hannah stepped in with her usual bubbly energy, her suitcase trailing behind her, and her boyfriend right beside her, offering a warm smile. “You reached earlier than I expected,” I said, surprised but relieved. Hannah grinned. “Yeah, we caught an earlier flight. Figured I’d surprise you!” Valen jumped into her arms. “Aunt Hannah! I missed you so much!” “I missed you more, my little muffin!” she said, twirling him around. For a moment, the air felt lighter. The house filled with laughter again. I walked over, hugging her tightly. “I’m so glad you’re here.” She pulled back, giving me a curious look. “You look like you’ve been through a tornado. Spill everything.” I waited until Valen ran off with his toys and Hannah’s boyfriend to the living room. Once it was just t

As soon as I stepped into the apartment, Valen leaped out of the nanny's arms and into mine. “Did you get my dress, Mommy?” he asked with his usual excited grin, wrapping his arms around my neck. I smiled and nodded, ruffling his hair. Before I could even set the shopping bags down, Marc appeared, already waiting for me. He walked over casually, the smile on his face warm and familiar. Without hesitation, he hugged me and placed a kiss on my cheek. “How can I forget this man?” I thought silently, gazing at him. “He’s been with me through it all... never doubted me, never judged me.” And yet... as his arms circled around me, I felt something—something I couldn’t name. Something missing. Why does Zane's touch still linger on my skin? I pushed the thought away. If my mind dared to wander toward Zane, I’d capture it like a bird gone astray and drag it back where it belonged—to Marc. To the man who loved me without conditions. Who stood by me when I was at my worst. Who smile

She had just stepped out of the restroom when I caught her arm and pulled her into the empty hallway, slamming the door behind us. “Don’t make me do things you can’t even imagine,” I growled, pinning her gently but firmly against the wall. “Stay away from me, Zane,” she sn

Autumn’s POV I waited until the silence of the night wrapped around the mansion, until I could no longer hear the quiet footsteps of Hannah or the soft sighs of Valen from his room. I didn’t want to talk. Not now. I just needed… him. I pushed open the door to Zane’s room quietly. The dim light from the antique lamp near his bed cast long shadows across the walls. He wasn’t asleep. He was wide awake. Lying on his side, one hand behind his head, the other lazily sliding over his phone screen. His golden eyes lifted the moment I stepped in. “You came,” he said, voice low, almost like a rumble. I didn’t respond. I closed the door behind me, walked to the side of the bed. His gaze didn’t leave mine. There was no smirk tonight. No smug grin. Just… patience. Waiting. As if he’d been expecting me all along. I had changed into my nightgown, the silk brushing lightly against my skin as I moved quietly across the room. My heart was still heavy—confused, uncertain. I di

Zane’s POV She’s mine now. Autumn Valerian Blackhowl. My wife. The words echo in my chest like a war drum. Thanks to Hannah, everything went smooth—no chaos, no interruptions. Her cooperation bought us silence. For now. I turned slightly, watching Autumn through the corner of my eye. She stood quietly, her hands clenched around the bouquet, her face composed… but her eyes were screaming. Let her scream. Let her hate me. Because she’ll still wear my ring. Suddenly, I felt a small tug on my pant leg. Valen. He was looking up at me with those sharp little eyes, full of innocence and stubbornness. “Uncle…” he said, tilting his head, “Did you see my dad? Did you see Marc?” I crouched to his level, trying to manage the surge of irritation at just hearing that man’s name. “No,” I said calmly. “He’s… not here, Valen". I gently cupped his cheek. “No, Valen. He is not your dad.” His brows furrowed in confusion. “I am,” I whispered. Even if he didn't under

But I stood frozen in the bridal suite, unable to breathe beneath the weight of my gown—or the knot twisting in my stomach. Everything was perfect… except everything was wrong. I paced the room, glancing at my phone again. No calls. No texts. Where was Marc? He promised—he swore he’d be there before the vows. I stormed out of the room, ignoring the gasps from the wedding assistants. Jack was standing near the entrance, nervously fixing his bow tie. “Jack!” I called. “Have you seen Hannah? She was supposed to be with me since morning!” Jack looked up, startled. “No, she left early… said she had something to pick up for the ceremony. I assumed she came here after that.” My skin prickled with dread. “She hasn’t come back… and she’s not answering me.” Jack’s eyes darkened. “Wait—Marc hasn’t arrived either,
