Leo is staring at the pool of blood. Surrounding him are vampire soldiers who are waiting for his command. The Captain of the Vampire Squad, Aryan Pavlov, comes up to him.
Aryan is almost 200 years old but looks like a young man in his late twenties. He had long, black hair with skin so pale that it is almost white. With sharp silver eyes and an unearthly beauty like all vampires, Aryan is tall and proud of his status as an elite guard for Sloria. He is also a skilled scientist who is interested in studying the anatomies of all creatures. Whenever the pack comes across the dead bodies of any unusual creature of the dark, Aryan is the first one to examine its corpse.
“Sir Leo,” he begins. “My men have been dispersed to the forest. They are seeking the Undead now but there have been too many attacks within a short span of time. I believe t
The carriage is passing by the desolate forest. Everywhere she looks, there is nothing but darkness. It is as if she has gone blind and the world has suddenly become cold. Roseanne shivers and wraps her coat tighter around her body.Sloria is a cold place but this forest is different. There are faint whispers echoing in her ears but she is not sure what those are. Animals? Or spirits? Roseanne does not believe in spirits but there are rumors of hauntings in the forest. Moreover, if the Undead can return, then why should she rule out ghosts? The guards are on horses, surrounding her. There are no less than ten guards who are protecting her that night and even though she is scared to be lonely inside the carriage, at least she is not completely alone. Their presence is surprisingly soothing. Vampires are known to manipulate people with one gaze. Once someon
The Undead is unlike anything Roseanne has ever seen. Its skin is decaying, the skull nearly visible. The eye sockets are empty but the Undead can somehow see her or rather, sense her. Its bony nose is twitching as it smells her and its hollow sockets are staring in her direction. It raises a finger at her.“You…” The Undead utters. “Witch…witch…found…”Roseanne tries not to be scared but it is hard. The creature is intelligent and smart. For something like that to take down many vampire guards is unthinkable. Even if the vampires have lost the Great War, they are still a formidable force and extremely skilled in fighting. Undead are not that intelligent to use a bow and arrow. They live in a mindless, zombie-like state where they only know how to harm humans but are easily hunted down by other predators. Even a skilled human hunter can take them out.
The fire is blazing all around her. Smoke fogs her vision as she runs from room to room, looking for her loved ones. The whole palace has been set on fire by angry revolutionaries who are out for blood. Many of the palace guards have been killed and an angry mob charged into the castle. They have ransacked the palace, destroying artifacts which were hundreds of years old.“Down with the Emperor!” They are chanting. Their chants are haunting the palace walls and they are killing anyone on sight. Their anger clouds their judgment because they were all frustrated and vengeful.Roseanne is running as far as she can. Her tiny legs are not fast but she is helpless. A mob is running after her because she is also part of the royal household. They want to kill anyone who is associated with the Royal Family. Their hatred crossed all boundaries and
“You are a witch.”His words echo in her ears, making her mind fuzzy. She is not sure how to address this secret which she had kept to herself for so many years. Now that it is out in the open, she is confused and scared.Dmitri is still playing with her fingers. She wants to pull her hand away but for some reason her heart is at odds with her head and her body is following her heart. His touch keeps her frozen to her spot, letting him playfully touch her to his heart’s desire. It is a dangerous desire.“I am still waiting for an answer,” he reminds her.Roseanne is still hesitant to speak. Dmitri notices her reluctance and grasps her palm firmly.“In Sloria, we do not discrimin
“Tch!” Iriana is tutting and shaking her head. “A broken shoulder? I thought you were strong, Sir Leo. To be taken down by something like a little weak red light!”They are in the palace’s healing wing where Iriana works. She is standing on a chair while Leo is sitting on a tool with his injured arm outstretched. Leo is used to Iriana’s sarcastic jabs. It is her habit to make snarky comments at people but deep down, she cares about them a lot. He tries to massage his broken arm but she slaps his hand away.“Don’t touch it!” She scolds him. “I just disinfected it! Now I need to put it in a sling. You won’t be able to shift for two weeks.”“Lady Iriana, my wolf Ares will become agitated if he is not let out,” Leo says in a calm tone. &
Venus was in the throne room when a soldier came to her. He bows in front of her and says, “Your Majesty, a messenger from Sloria has arrived.”She raises an eyebrow. “Sloria?” she questions. “What need does Sloria have?”Venus is aware of the country up north which is covered with mountains and snow. There are very few people living in the country because it is quite difficult to live there. Other than the people who live there, no one else can enter Sloria because of the Valley of Death. It is impossible to cross by foot or carriage. People in Ezealyra joke that one has to fly over the Valley of Death to get to Sloria which is impossible to achieve. Whosoever heard of a flying vehicle? To the Ezealyrians, Sloria is a useless country and of no value. With few people, it is ruled
Hot…it is too hot…She thinks.Roseanne is feeling a strange heat driving through her veins. She is not in control of her body which seems to be completely paralyzed. The heat is coursing through her blood, controlling her urges and she is also feeling a tingling sensation between her legs. Her memory is lingering on Dmitri’s soft lips and his honey-like flavor which she wants to taste. His skin is soft and supple, making her want to jump on him. Images of his shirtless torso are flashing through her mind and she reaches out her hand to touch him. She can almost feel his silky touch. He is moving his fingers down from her neck to her chest, softly pressing her-“AHHHHH!” Roseanne screams and jerks awake. She is sweating and panting hard, trying to register her surroundings.
Timur knocks on the study room’s door. It slides open and he enters it to see Dmitri sitting on a rocking chair next to the fireplace while a fire blazes in it. Dmitri has his eyes closed, rocking the chair slowly but his mind is alert.“What is it?” he murmurs.“My lord, Aryan is interrogating the Undead,” Timur states. “It is unlike anything we have ever seen before. This…this thing is intelligent. He is not attacking anyone but simply stares at the guards without blinking. Unlike other Undead who lose control, he is calm and calculated as if he understands everything we are doing.”“Did he say anything about his leader?” Dmitri asks.“No. But he wants to…”
