The sky darkens as midnight arrives. Leaving Ivan’s body in the sauna room, Aria and the soldiers quietly make their way towards the kitchen of the inn. She looks around to make sure that there is no one around and presses something on the wall.
It jerks open, sliding aside to reveal a long tunnel. Leo steps out of the tunnel, facing the soldiers.
“We have only one hour to evacuate the people from the inn,” he states. “I have already emptied the village.”
“The innkeepers are still catering to the delegation!” One of the soldiers replies. “But it will not take them long to go to bed.”
“Tell your soldiers to start escorting the people out of this place!” Leo hisses. “Tell us when to strike.”
Leo is running towards the barn when he notices the distant sky. A yellow light is approaching his way at a rapid pace. Then another. And another. The lights have multiplied into hundreds, heading towards the inn at full speed and soon, the birds will arrive with the fireballs. Leo does not waste a single second and runs at full speed. He breaks open the barn and looks around until his eyes fall at a corner.A small boy of around five years old is hiding in the corner, shaking in fear. He is scared and murmuring his mother’s name.“Come with me!” Leo exclaims and carries the child in his arms. The child shrieks, still scared of the stranger but Leo forces the boy into his arms and sprints off, just in time. As soon as he leaves the barn, the first fireball is dropped on it by a pigeon before rapidl
Dmitri barged into his study room to find Roseanne standing there with a smile on her face. She already heard what he did to the delegation from the Council and is beaming with joy.“Roseanne…”He slowly steps towards his mate, unable to believe that she returned to him a day early. Raising his hand, he touches her face as if making sure that it is really her and not a hallucination. She smiles at him and kisses his palm, her eyes teary.“Are you really here?” he whispers.“Yes!” She nods. “It is me.”Dmitri pulls her into a hug, burying himself in her scent. He kisses her neck, making her moan. Roseanne hugs him back, h
Roseanne wakes up to the cooing of a bird. She sleepily rubs her eyes and looks at the window where a tiny blue light is floating right next to a pretty white pigeon.“Annamaria!” Roseanne laughs as the light flies her way and settles on her shoulder. The bird also lands on her lap, cooing in a cute manner. Roseanne smiles and strokes the bird’s head. Then it strikes her that she is in her nightgown and also notes that she is in her chamber not in Dmitri’s study.Did he bring me here after I fell asleep? She wonders. But where is he?Dmitri is nowhere in sight which makes Roseanne a little anxious. She is about to mindlink with him when the door to her chamber opens and Dmitri enters with a large tray of food for her.“Good morning, my
The sun is shining in the sky, nearing the center. A large group of people have gathered around the town’s square. The dreary streets are filled with curious people who are murmuring to themselves. Some of them are standing on tiptoes, trying to see what is going on.Several guards are lined in the middle of the street and a large pyre is being set up on a large podium. There is a grim atmosphere surrounding them as if something bad is about to happen. A child in the crowd is trying to squeeze through the people but is unable to see anything.“Pappy what’s goin’ on?” the child asks his father.“We dunno!” The father says, trying to see what the soldiers are doing. “It looks like someone will be burnt at the pyre!”Thi
That night, for the first time in many years, a blood moon appeared in the sky. A red hue falls over the lands as if a scarlet blanket has covered all. The snow reflects the red shade, twinkling like rubies.Leo is staring at the sky, feeling apprehensive. He is not sure what is going to happen but the appearance of the full moon all of a sudden is making him anxious. Is Dmitri going to turn? What will happen if he does?“Leo…”Aria’s sleepy voice comes from behind him. She just entered the chamber she now shares with Leo, feeling very tired. Upon seeing his worried expression, she also starts to dread.“Are you thinking of the impending war tomorrow?” she asks, misinterpreting his worries.
Venus is leaning over her son’s coffin at the crypt. The soldiers have brought back her dear Oswald in a blanket and kept his body inside the golden coffin with the emblem of the Visserion’s which is an emblem of a golden square with a red moon in the middle. The emblem is mocking Venus because ironically, it was changed during Alexa’s time as an Empress and she chose it.She is too scared to open the coffin because her son’s body is so badly charred that it is impossible to look at it. Her heart is grieving for the loss of her beloved child but a monster like Eduard will not let her grieve in peace. The door to the crypt room opens and Eduard enters it. Behind him is a dark haired woman who walks close to Eduard and by her scent, Venus can tell she is a fae. Eduard steps towards his son’s coffin, his eyes filled with fake so
A loud siren rings through the streets of Sloria, waking up the citizens who remained. The siren rings in three short intervals before ringing continuously for a minute, signaling the impending invasion.Roseanne also hears the siren and wakes up in shock. She is completely naked and wrapped in a blanket. Hugging it tight, she looks around. Her room is a total mess. The furniture is overturned and the bedsheet is in disarray. Her lower body is throbbing a little but thankfully, it does not hurt much. Gaia must have healed her before disappearing back into her mind. They really went at it last night, Roseanne winces. She feels a little shy as she remembers the way Gaia and her mate Stiva made wild love. They were starving for centuries, no, for thousands of years perhaps.
The streets of Ezealyra are dreary that morning. A cold wind is gusting by and there is a frostuness in the air. It snowed last night, filling the roads with snow. An icy glacier has formed in the main street where hundreds of people have gathered on both sides of the road. They are all standing behind a steel barricade, many of them crying loudly. Women and children are holding out their hands as if trying to reach someone but the barricades stop them from crossing over. “NO!” One woman shrieks. “Don’t take ‘im! Don’t take my husband-” “Shut up!” A soldier roars and hits her with the back of his bayonet. The woman is weeping hard like the others who are in the same dilemma. Men of all ages are being lined on the road, dragged by the Ezealyran soldiers. They are tied in metal chains to prevent them from escaping. That night, all the men who are of age have been rounded up and forcefully enlisted into the upcoming war. Ezealyra shows off its migh
