"Oh, George, I've missed you so much," Lisa said, lying beside me and showering my face with kisses. "You make me so happy. I don't know why you cannot see that we are meant for each other."

"Lisa, we have talked about this countless times. We can't get married," I said, trying to reason with her.

She looked at me as if I had just grown horns on my head. "What is stopping us, George? You just keep making excuses, and they are getting flimsier by the day. You claim you love me, yet you do not want to marry me. Do you know how stupid that makes me feel?"
