I could still hear deafening blasts of the explosion ringing in my ears, and the smoky odor hung on my tongue.

Chadwick's mouth was slackened, Sharon's eyes were wide like saucers, Ken was at a loss for words, and I took several gulps of air to calm my racing heart.

Chadwick's anger was growing, but he didn't know where to direct it. I felt like following him into my heart and hugging him.

"What the fuck was that?" Ken said. "What the hell just happened? And how did you know there was a bomb in that package?" He asked, his gaze not leaving mine.

My heart drummed against my chest, and I looked away. "I had a hunch," I said, maintaining my calmness. "Because how would they even believe that I was a lycan with enhanced senses and reflexes? Also, because Chadwick was my mate, I looked out for him more than I would for any other person. Since I was now a pro in lying, I had to continue.
