I don’t know how and when but I slowly found myself drifting off to sleep while playing with its soft furs.
I know what you might be thinking. Who is their right state of mind would sleep when an unknown creature was nuzzling up against them?
I don’t know about you but I would when I’ve spent the entire day and night before sorting things around my new apartment. I pretty much already had bags forming under my eyes. It was high time I get some sleep.
Hence, the slumber party time begins, with a not so small creature in my arms!
When I woke up, it was dark so I figured it was night time or pretty early in the morning. I was still sitting with my back leaning against the tree trunk but the dog was nowhere to be found. Had it all been a dream, a nightmare? But what am I doing here? There is no way that I could imagine all of that. I’m not J. K Rowling nor am I Stephenie Meyer.
I hastily got up and dusted my clothes off. I halted midway when I realized I was making a lot of noise.
After checking my surroundings and finding no dog in sight, I quietly tried to make my way out of the forest. I almost cursed out loud when I stepped straight into a bunch of dry leaves which made a loud crunching sound echo in the deadly empty forest.
“Trying to find your way out?” I literally froze with fright while my heart began racing when I heard a deep voice.
Damn it!
“Oh you know… I-I was just looking around.” I nodded with a tight smile while turning around to glance at the person who caught me sneaking around.
My smile faltered. Butterflies fluttered around in my stomach as I stared up at the gorgeous man standing in front of me.
He was close enough that he towered well over me, his stature strong and muscular. His button up shirt clung to his every bulging muscle, as did his jeans.
I swiftly glanced away when our eyes met, feeling heat in my chest as my heart skipped a beat. His eyes are a piercing silver and his hair is so black, it reminded me of the dog I was cuddling earlier. His golden tan skin contrasted to his ruffled black hair.
I tried to hunt for every specific feature on him, but that was impossible with the little light of the moon.
“So, you aren’t lost?” He asked. His voice was powerful and demanding, yet soft like a caress to the skin.
“Hmm… no, I definitely know my way out of this s-scary forest.” I replied, trying to sound as cool as I was pretending to look but my voice betrayed me.
To my surprise, he laughed. A genuine laugh, like he thought I was funny. I clenched my fingers tightly when they inch to cover the heat rising on my cheeks.
“Well, it was nice meeting you but I really need to get going.” Waving a hand at him, I sauntered off.
I gasped when a gust of wind sent me crashing into a tree only to register that he had me trapped against the tree. How the heck did he move so fast?
"Mine", he growled and burrowed his face in between the right side of my neck and shoulder. I held my breath in surprise when I heard the animalistic sound he made.
I squealed as he held my sides with his hands and pulled me even closer to his chest. He was strong but also gentle, and his touch sent tingles down my spine.
I gulped hard when I felt his lips grazing a soft spot on my neck. I could hardly breathe at this point.
“Please”, he murmured, his lips close to my ear, his breath warm. “Don’t leave me.”
I shivered. It felt like he was taking over all of my personal space and all I could think, feel or even smell was him and only him.
I fisted my hands tightly to avoid from wounding my arms around his neck.
When he nipped on my right ear lope, I almost moaned out loud but I squeezed both my eyes and my mouth shut tightly. What the hell is happening? Why am I letting him do this to me? Why am I even allowing him? What's wrong with me?
Why do I feel the need to let him do whatever he was doing? I couldn’t make any sense of what was happening. I’ve never felt this way around any guy before.
Why do I want more from him? Why do I want to feel his touch on my body?
Is he controlling my mind? Is he forcing me to do this?
When that thought crossed my mind, I pushed him away from me.
He went stumbling backwards, clearly not expecting this sudden reaction from me.
He caught himself before falling down and glanced at me with a forlorn look.
"Get the hell away from me!" I scowled at him. His eyes darkened.
I gulped nervously. When he stepped forward, approaching me, I ran away. I heard a deafening howl from behind but this time, it was filled with pain and despair.
I couldn't care less, well, that's what I thought anyway until I heard fierce growls echoing from behind me, sounding closer and closer. It felt like the never-ending forest was closing in on me. More and more trees appeared and zoomed by me as I begged my feet to move faster.
A loud blood-curdling scream echoed around me as I found myself being lifted through the air only realizing a few seconds later that I was the one who screamed bloody murder. I closed my mouth and gulped as I felt a hard surface supporting my back and the ground underneath my feet. Did I just levitate across the forest?
I began hyperventilating as I glanced at the looming trees surrounding me.
What the heck just happened?
I held onto the tree trunk behind me. My legs weakened. I tried to catch my breath but it was in vain. I couldn’t sort through the images compiling in my mind, images of what could be present in this forest, and images of what creatures could be lurking in the dark, watching me like predators of the night.
I slowly shook my head when the man I was running from found me. Feeling a current zip up my spine, I shivered in tremor as he neared me, like a predator would his prey.
My legs gave out but before I could fall, he moved as quickly as lightning and caught me. I froze, feeling a growing fear wounding itself around my body and holding me in its vicious grasp. An emotion I would not want to feel ever again.
Drawing me close into his arms, he borrowed his face in between my right neck and shoulder once again. I felt breathless as my racing heart skipped a beat. My inner gut gnawed at me to run, to get the heck away from here but I couldn’t do anything to get out of his tight grip.
I let out a sharp whine as I felt the sting of his teeth against my neck.
I gasped as my sight blacked out. I flashbacked to a night I was lost in the forest. I was small. No one was there to help me until three feral animals surrounded me, wanting nothing but to kill me.
An increasing heat stirred within my chest and I clenched my fists. A strong sense of anger overtook me. I shook uncontrollably before I lost consciousness.
When I came around, it was daytime. Surrounding me, were the same animals from last night, viciously killed and lying in their own blood.
Feeling his teeth sunk into my flesh, I was brought back into reality. I yelped and pushed him away. I impulsively touched my neck when I felt a prick which soon spread like wildfire. Totally stunned, I withdrew my hand to find blood coating the tips of my fingers.
“Did you just bit me?” I asked in bewilderment.
When he moved a step back, my head spun as he cleaned the blood dripping down the side of his mouth with the back of his hand. My blood! My words got lodged in my throat as he graced me with a bloody fanged smirk. He freaking had fangs, like the dogs I met earlier.Finding my voice, I exclaimed, “What the fuck are you?”I refrained myself from pushing him away from me, afraid of touching him.I held my breath when he met my gaze. Concern etched on his forehead as he studied my face which was most probably showing my increasing panic and fear of this man.“You’ve got such a dirty mouth.” His smirk widened mischievously as he cocked a perfectly shaped eyebrow at me.He adjusted his arms beside my head and covered the short distance between our lips.Brushing his lips against mine, “I will have a great time taming you.” He murmured. His low and distinct tone sent a shiver travelling up my
The dark clothed man, who threw him down, glanced my way. I gasped. He freaking had wings, black and huge and he was hanging down low yet his feet never touching the ground. I would prefer using only one word if I had to describe him. A vampire! He has white pale skin like a vampire, his lips are bloody red and his eyes are dark, so dark you would feel like he’s looking right into your soul, sorting through your darkest sins. He has black shoulder length hair and looks fierce and right now his lips are pressed into a thin line.I could no longer deny that what was happening wasn’t real because real or not, it was definitely happening unless my eyes were playing some tricks on me.“You didn’t tell me you met your mate, Alejandro.” He addressed the man who had bit me.Mate?“Leave her alone!” Alejandro tried to get up but ended up hissing in pain. Consequently, I gasped in pain.“If I’m not
Alejandro’s point of view:I returned the threatening glare Ivan was throwing my way with one of my own.“How dare you cross my territory?” I roared.“Don’t you dare bark at me, you mutt.” Ivan snapped, his pupils thinning out before his eyes turned black. My wolf, Leo, fought to break free and growled, dangerously deep and low, forcing me into submission but I refused to yield to his demand.‘Damn it, Leo! Just stay put, I don’t want our mate to be scared of us.’‘You are the one who scared her away. I was doing great until you put your foot in it.’‘Fine, I admit that what I did was reckless but just listen to me this time, okay?’‘I will not stay put if anything goes out of control.’‘That is if anything goes out of control.’‘I’ll have your back.’ Once I got my wolf’s a
Amelia’s point of view:Feeling his eyes burning holes in the back of my head, I quickened my pace.I exhaled freely once I turned around the corner and stepped back into town, the place where civilians like me live. I did not even realize I had been holding my breath.I could feel his eyes on my ass the whole way until I turned the corner. He must be sick in the head if he thought I would go anywhere with him.I ran the remaining distance back to my apartment building. I hastily keyed in the code to open my apartment door. Closing my eyes, I sighed and leaned my back against the door once I was safely inside.I glanced at the clock. It was one in the morning. I spent ten hours out there in that forest, ten whole hours which changed my life overnight. That forest has so much stuffs going on. How come the locals around here are so oblivious to it? Either they are ignorant or those creatures know perfectly well how to ca
Amelia’s point of view: While returning back home the next day, I frowned when I noticed a black figure looming by my apartment. Feeling a burst of anger through my chest, I decided that enough was enough. Without wasting a second, I screamed and dashed towards the figure that froze like a deer caught in headlights. I grabbed the sides of his waist in a hip-lock and knocked him off his feet. I glanced down at him when he grunted out in pain while gripping his right arm. Feeling a pain shot up my right arm, I hissed. I stared at Alejandro in shock when he lifted the hood off his head. “It’s you!” I grimaced when his face twisted in pain. “I’m so sorry.” I exclaimed. “It serves you right.” I whispered through gritted teeth. My breath hitched as he swiftly looked up at me. Did he hear me? Impossible! I got rid of that thought. I held out a hand to help him up but he adamantly hoisted himself back on his fee
Alejandro’s point of view: I kept thinking about Amelia… her scent, her voice, her sassiness, damn it! I was screwed! After I’d been to her place the other night, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I wish to have her here with me, to feel her, to love her. I craved the way she tasted. My wolf wouldn’t let me breathe in peace. We both can’t seem to be able to stay away from our mate. I shouldn’t have let her go back to that town. ‘Glad to know you’ve realized that.’ Leo groaned. ‘Don’t you dare start again!’ I warned my wolf. He boldly growled back but before I could tell him anything, he withdrew back to the back of my mind. That was his personal space. And, I wasn’t allowed to disturb him there. I would do anything to have Amelia here with me. Then, maybe my wolf wouldn’t be so pissed off and moody all the time. But, she’d already made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with me. I can’t believe I’m letting a human control me. She’s m
Amelia's point of view: I was humming to my favorite song while washing the dirty dishes after dinner before calling it a night. I was exhausted. “Yeah, I’m gonna take my horse to the old town road I’m gonna ride til I can’t no more…” I used the scrubber as a mic as I sang along. Once I was done cleaning the kitchen, I sunk down into my comfortable chair in the living room. I sighed in relief before removing my earphones. I sat upright in alert when I heard a noise from outside my apartment. It almost felt like something was being moved roughly against the hard surface of the door from outside. I swear to God if it was that so-called gorgeous man who called himself the Lycan King, I… I… What would I do again? I stood up and walked to my front door. I was trying so hard not to let that little fear I felt growing within me but it was quite evident in my hesitant steps. Am I really letting whatever might be at the
Amelia’s point of view:“Don’t you dare come close to me!” Stepping back while pointing a finger up at him, I warned him as he neared me.“Is this really what you want?” He asked with an eyebrow raised questioningly.I gulped and stepped two to three steps back when he somehow made his way halfway across the room.I stopped with a gasp as my back touch the wall behind me.Before I could move to the left, Alejandro covered the remaining distance between us using his supernatural speed. I trapped between him and the wall within seconds.Looking up, I found it hard to breathe when I met his gaze.I rolled my eyes and started to tell him to leave me alone, but he leaned in and his breath whispered hot through my hair. “I think you want me here… close to you.” He stroked my cheek with his, sending a hot trail of tingles to shot up my whole body.My heart stutter
Alejandro’s point of view:“What are you thinking about, Alejandro?” She patted me on the shoulder. “Do you want to mark me or not? I won’t be giving you another chance anytime soon. If you -”I locked gazes with her and she immediately stopped rambling. She was nervous but she was also full of determination. I could sense it.“Are you sure?”“Got any better ideas?” She arched an inquisitively eyebrow at me.I averted my eyes elsewhere, thought about it, and then shook my head. “Think about it… Once I mark you, you’ll be mine – forever.”“I want to be yours, Alejandro.” She whispered.Stunned, I stared at her for a minute – lost for words.“What brought around this sudden change?” I asked her, finding it hard to believe that she was actually giving me permission to mark her.“I can’t see you in pain.” Her voice was barely audible.“Really…?” I couldn’t help but tease her.She grunted, glared, and then stood up to walk away.I swiftly but smoothly got up and held her waist to stop her.
Alejandro's point of view: Laughing, I rushed inside the bathroom and swiftly shut the door behind me to escape Amelia's wrath. "Get back here right this instant, Alejandro!" She shouted at me, angrily punching the bathroom door with her fists. "How could you do this to me?" She shrieked, her voice barely audible as she tried her best not to breathe in the odor that had enveloped her completely. "Eurgh!" Satisfied with myself now that I'd succeeded in dousing Amelia with the potion I'd prepared, I smirked in victory and slipped out of my clothes to have a shower before the full moon got higher up in the sky. From the unpleasant odor that lingered around the bedroom, it seemed as though she'd been thrown into a garbage truck and then forced to stay in those dirty clothes. I have no idea how she's breathing fine with that stench, I thought. It was getting hard for me to breathe properly with that odor. I needed to hurry up and get out of here. But bearing the smell of this
Amelia’s point of view: “Well, let me just mark you then,” Alejandro slipped his free hand into my hair and drew me near as he leaned down, his eyes gazing at the spot he was more than ready to mark since the very first day he’d met me. “No,” I cried, my eyes tearing up. "Please!" I pleaded, gripping onto his shoulders. I felt a very contradicting feeling at that moment. I wanted to push him away but at the same time, his closeness and warmth comforted me in a way where I felt safe. I could do nothing else but to beg him not to mark me. I wasn't ready. "Please, don't do this!" I closed my eyes, buried my face into the nape of his shoulder and hugged him tight. He went rigid, not having expected me to hug him like that when I was afraid of him. Shaking my head, I tried to stop my tears but alas!Fuck! I was supposed to be strong but I was being such a crybaby right now. It was embarrassing to say the least. "Shush!" I felt the muscles in his upper body loosened up as he wrapped
Alejandro’s point of view:Once I was done adding the last ingredient in the mortar, I crushed everything together into a paste before adding some water to it until it became a liquid of some sort.My nose scrunched up at the sight of this potion but I was satisfied with the outcome. This would definitely work, I thought with a satisfied smirk.Pouring the mixture into a small jar, I closed the lid and proceeded to clean the mess I’d made in the kitchen before dawn – before anyone wakes up and finds me in here.I can’t let anyone find out that I’m making this thing otherwise they might suspect something and I can’t afford that at the moment.‘Look at you! You look less like the Lycan King and more like a thief right now.’ Leo remarked sassily.‘Your presence would be greatly not appreciated right now.’ I deadpanned. ‘So, just shut up!’I breathed a sigh of relief when I finally reached my bedroom door without anyone catching a sight of me wandering down the hallways this early in the
Alejandro’s point of view:At first, there were just those vampires and that too, the Vampire King himself trying to harm Amelia but now, that hunter was also after her. To keep her safe, I had to bring her here against her will. If they’d get to her, they might kill her just to hurt me.The enmity between us started way before I’d even been born. I don’t know what exactly happened that led to us being enemies. My parents ended up dying while protecting me from those vampires. To make matters worse, hunters started roaming our forest in search for our kind to prove to humans that we do exist but we don’t want to be found and definitely not by them. They’d treat us like abomination that needed to be erased completely from this world. It’s quite funny though! We were here before them.Just because there are billions of them and only about a million of us; doesn’t mean that they’ve got some kind of power over us. We are both being governed by someone of sovereignty. We all worship God –
Amelia’s point of view: By the time I came back to myself, hastily snatching the bed sheet off the bed and wrapping it around my body to cover myself up, Alejandro was standing half-way across the room. Triumph mingling with an odd expression, which I couldn’t read, was on his face. But it made me panicked. My head snapped up as reality crashed in. What have I done?I just yielded to the mate bond between us. I couldn’t fight it. It won! We didn’t just kiss. We did so much more than that. I was stark naked under this blanket – stark naked! He’d seen so much of me than I’d ever allowed him before.I’ve even bared myself to him, shamelessly opening my legs for him. After what happened, I needed time to think – to re-order my thoughts, to work out how I was supposed to keep my distance from him when the so-called mate bond was affecting me in all those sorts of ways. What had I just done? “Happy now…?” I threw at him, my mind still whirring. Racing to catch up, I asked him, “Pleased wi
Amelia’s point of view:‘What the hell was I thinking?’ This question struck my mind, but then Alejandro pinned me against the wall, his deliciously hard body pressing onto mine with wicked heaviness, and everything intensified.Sparks, lots of electrifying ones, overlapped one another. The past few hours had been so charged, so heady, that I’d almost lost sense of myself. Thrown back into the past, yet still rooted in the present. It felt surreal. The first kiss had been like coming to the place where I was supposed to be, here with him, I thought weakly, even as it made my entire body ignite at his touch. But this one had me as though my body was no longer under my own control, reacting to him on an utterly primal level, whilst my mind had no say whatsoever in the matter.I was vaguely aware that I should object, but instead my hands were threading through his hair, my mouth tingling with every brutal pass of his tongue, my body elevated with the hard, altogether too familiar pressu
Alejandro’s point of view: I felt her reluctance. She fisted the fabric of my shirt in her hands and tried to push me away but I didn’t let her. I wanted to show her that the mate bond was stronger than she thought. It will definitely bring us together. And, she won’t be able to do anything to stop it.I was determined to prove that to her so, I kissed her.She froze on the spot, too shocked to react.I kissed her, slowly and pulled her impossibly closer to me.Shortly, her eyes fluttered shut and I felt her relaxed in my arms. She was confused at first, contradicted even but she eventually kissed me back.Satisfied at the result, I closed my eyes and deepened the kiss. This, right here, was perfect. I’ve wanted to kiss her again after that kiss we shared the other day.A breathless gasp escaped past her lips when I kissed the bite mark on her neck. She gripped onto my shoulders, her hold tight as she quivered in my arms. The effect I have on her is crazy. Fuck! The effect she has on
Amelia’s point of view:Without another word, he stormed out of his bedroom, leaving the door to bang shut behind him. I jumped at the noise that echoed inside the room.He was mad furious. But I couldn’t care less. He’d already imprisoned me here, in his bedroom. He’d already made up his mind and announced his decision. What more can he do? Hit me…? Honestly speaking, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did so just to keep me here as his destined mate. What did I expect? He is just as wild as those rogues that tried to hurt me when I’d first ventured into this forest.‘Don’t forget he protected you every time you were in danger.’ My conscience reminded me.‘No, he saved his destined mate. If I was nothing to him, he’d never have protected me.’ I refused to believe it.‘How can you be so sure about that? He might be telling the truth. He might have really fallen in love with you at first sight.’ My conscience insisted, trying to make me see things in a different light.‘Might,’ I repeated t
