Blair's POV

We exited the opulent restaurant, the cool night air a welcome contrast to the stuffy atmosphere inside. James apologized profusely once again, his voice laced with a genuine remorse that melted away the last remnants of my annoyance.

"Let me guess," I teased gently, "the chaos extends to your apartment?"

He sheepishly scratched the back of his neck. "Maybe a little. Long nights at the office haven't exactly left me with much time for cleaning."

I smiled. "Don't worry, I'm no stranger to a messy apartment after a long workweek. As long as there's a couch and a pizza place that delivers, we'll be good."

The valet came around with James' car and after tipping the young nan who seemed enraptured by the car, James opened the passenger door for me, got into the driver's seat and we were soon on our way.
