Kirsch's POV

"Why did you tell Willa you no longer feel the mate pull toward her?" Taran asked me as he put a piece of raw meat in the pan after he got the leg out on a place.

Willa likes dark meat.

"Well, because I don't." I kept my eyes low on the pan, "It disappeared after you marked her."

"Or maybe, you just don't want her to feel bad for rejecting you." Taran glanced at me with a teasing smirk.

"Why would she care..." I mumbled. It was the best I could lie.

"That's not a no," Taran said softly.

"My mate is you, and it's enough for me." I glanced at the kitchen door, feeling the guilt of a thief when Cerberus's smell struck my nerve.

I wanted him, more than ever. But I didn't dare do anything with him because leaving my smell on him would probably drive Nox into rage. She knows now that Cerberus claimed both of us, but we never really talked about boundaries.

Besides, Taran and I also needed time after we have been telling ourselves for years that we were straight.
