202 Goodbye To The Past

Taran's POV

We shared breakfast with Scarlett, but it was awful.

Willa was upset, and I didn't even need to mindlink her to tell. It was natural to feel abandoned when someone you had relied on for your whole life just decided to leave for no apparent reason. But Willa didn't ask for a reason, nor did she protest.

I guess she felt different about Scarlett after all, now she knew Scarlett wasn't her blood relative.

She could no longer take Scarlett for granted.

"I want to travel around packs and help those wolfless, just as a retirement plan," Scarlett said in a forced cheering tone. She was just upset as Willa, but she tried to hide her feelings.

"Sounds great." Willa couldn't even manage a smile.

"I'll come to visit you often," Scarlett tipped Willa's chin up with an apologetic look, "Don't give me the pout, little one?"
