Kirsch's POV
I expected Willa to hate me, but I didn't expect things to be so bad.
She no longer comes home.
She officially moved to the cave by the beach where we usually keep some emergency stuff. By "move" I meant she left the Alpha house with only the cloak on her back.
She didn't even take the shoulder bag I got her.
Cerberus had been staying there with her. It was the first time that Cerberus was the tin can telephone instead of Willa.
[Alpha, I'm at the edge of the forbidden forest with food and some cloth.] I mindlinked Cerberus, [How's Willa today?]
[Not talking.] Cerberus was obviously not doing well either. Willa's low mood was taking a toll on him as well.
It was almost Christmas and it was freezing cold at night even for werewolves. Cerberus had been shifting during the night to be her bed these days. He was the only one Willa allowed to stay close, but she wasn't even talking to him. She would just sit there with her arms around her knees, crying in silence.
[Can I send the stuff over?] I asked cautiously. Willa would leave if I or Scarlett try to get too close.
[No. I come.] Cerberus grunted as he glanced at Willa with a worried look, "Willa, I go a while?"
Willa nodded before she tiled and laid down on the wet floor of the cave, still with that empty look and empty eyes. Cerberus went over and took her into his arms: "I don't go. Stay with you."
Willa nodded again, and just closed her eyes and buried her face in his chest.
[Can not go. Later.] Cerberus told me, sitting there and gazing into Willa. That was basically their only routine right now.
I suddenly missed the days when all I needed to worry about was that they might have sex.
[Willa, I know you are mad at me, you have every right to. I wanted to talk to you about the Treaty, it's about Cerberus.] It was my last resort for Willa to talk to me.
She refused the mindlink.
[It's reported to them that Cerberus is a mad rogue, wandering around our pack, so, the Treaty is looking into it. The best way to solve it is to get Taran to take the Alpha's title.] I tried again. Willa paused for a second and rejected again.
I sighed and gave up, waiting under the tree with the stuff, just like yesterday and the day before.
[Alpha, how's Willa doing?] Scarlett mindlinked me scrupulously, and Cerberus cut the mindlink the moment Scarlett's request popped in.
Scarlett told me "everything" after Willa left, even her past. Though I couldn't forgive her for how much she hurt Taran, her hatred toward the mad king was understandable when she had suffered so much. I couldn't imagine what I would do if someone hurt Willa or Taran.
[The same...] I sighed, [At least she's eating, and is not throwing away the stuff we gave her--]
[Alpha,] Ethan suddenly mindlinked me, [There are some people at the southern border. They said they are from the Treaty.]
I could see them through the mindlink. It was Bowell, the Treaty's secretary general.
[I'll be right there.] I had to leave the stuff for the border. It was bad for the Treaty to send men straight to the pack without noticing, and there was little room for me to imagine what it could possibly be for--
They came for Cerberus.
They finally tracked him here.
I left with no other choice.
"Unannounced visit, Bowell?" I greeted him, forcing a joke, "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Your men have some pride alright." Bowell laughed as he came up and gave me a hug, "I have been standing here waiting for you for half an hour."
"See, you would have got at least a cup of tea if you had let me know you were coming." I joked and he punched me on the shoulder. I saved his son's life in a battle some years ago, and he had been a good friend to us ever since.
"I'll keep that in mind next time." Bowell let out a dry laugh, darting his eyes to the other two men he brought with him nervously. They stood there with straight faces as if they didn't see his look
Something was off with him.
I suddenly remembered that last time Bowell called me to warn me about Cerberus, he told me the Treaty wanted us to hand over Cerberus, and he only called to return the favor because...
The Treaty wouldn't want me to know beforehand and prepare for it.
[Willa!] I turned and shifted, dashing into the woods as I tried to mindlink her. The two men Bowell brought shifted at the same time and chased after me. Instantly there were several alerts bursting out in my mind as I felt several intruders entering the pack territory at the same time--
The Treaty tricked me to the border to invade the pack!
Seven huge wolves closed in on me and I sped up, dashing out of their ambush just in time before they could cut me off.
[Ethan! Get the warriors to the beach! Ethan?] I didn't dare look back -- they knocked him out. I could only pray that his life was not in danger.
[Thomas! Richard! Get everyone and head to the beach!] I shouted frantically before I sent a forced alert to every warrior in the pack through the pack bond. They wouldn't know what happened, but they would know there were werewolves in the pack's territory right now.
[Kirsch!] Willa accepted my mindlink right away, [There are people here and they have guns!]
My heart dropped. I could see a bunch of wolves circling around the cave's entrance where Willa and Cerberus stayed. It was the worst place because they didn't even have anywhere to run!
[They are the Treaty's men! Talk to them! I'm on my way, twenty minutes tops! They are here for Cerberus! So the most important thing is to keep Cerberus calm! Don't give them any reason to hurt him!] I shouted as I dashed forward at full speed.
[Mindlink him!] Willa threw herself at Cerberus as she buried her face in his neck when Cerberus was in a standoff with the men at the cave's entrance.
It would be the worst if he got into a fight with them.
[Alpha! Please, we can solve this problem! Don't fight with them.] I tried to mindlink Cerberus and he put it through when he saw that Willa was mindlinked with me.
[Cerberus, I need you to stay with me, okay?] Willa pressed her forehead against Cerberus's huge ear as she soothed him, [No one could take you away from me, but I need you to let me solve this one, okay?]
Cerberus grunted in frustration. He shook his head frantically, trying to keep his mind calm. If he shows his red eyes, they would kill him right there. The Treaty's law allows that.
A man stepped up from the wolves' circle. He locked his cold eyes on Willa and asked in an emotionless tone: "Little girl, did the wolf kidnapped you here?"
Cerberus roared at his words and got into attack position.
Kirsch's POV Cerberus almost lost it at the horrible accusation. I doubted that man cared about Willa's safety at all. Willa was clearly hugging Cerberus and was NOT showing a sign of being forced of any kind. He said that purely to irritate and test whether Cerberus's mind was mad enough to lose control at a false accusation. [Cerberus! I don't want to lose you! I'll die if I do!] Willa almost burst into tears at Cerberus's frantic roar, [Take control of your temper for me, please!] Cerberus's body stiffened, but in the end, he loosened up into a defensive position without carrying out the attack! [They are here just to investigate, not carrying out a sentence. They would have attacked me with more lethal force if they have any evidence against Cerberus.] I told Willa with a bit of relief. At least Cerberus wasn't losing it at this moment. [But now they have already seen him, what do we do?!] Willa's arms were shivering in fear. [It proves nothing so long as Cerberus doesn't go
Kirsch's POV I got to Willa within twenty minutes. Though I honestly wasn't sure whether I was there to save Willa from Derek or Derek from Willa, because he looked like he was gonna have a stroke if I had come any later. "Alpha." I bared my neck at Cerberus as I walked past Derek when I got there. Cerberus grunted as a response, and Willa nodded at me slightly. "Alpha Kirsch!" Derek shouted with a shred of gratitude in his tone because he could finally stop talking to Willa, "This is--" "Invasion." I turned and cut him off coldly, "Since when did the Treaty start sending troops into a pack without even so much of a notification, let alone negotiation?" "I'm sorry." Derek apologized with a crafty tone, "We were told that a mad rogue was luring around your pack, and we merely came for the concern of your safety." They wouldn't hesitate on murdering Cerberus if they thought they had a chance to win. They would still be apologizing to me at that point when they purposely tricked me
Willa's POV Kirsch had been in his wolf form in front of me ever since we moved into the new house. Pretty sure he had been shifting on his own because I once heard him shouting on the phone in his study. We played a little by the huge pool on the first day, but then he rarely comes to play with us after that and he never eats with us anymore. In fact, he had been coming home less and less to a point where he basically just came back in the middle of the night for the bed, and would disappear before I get up. Was he mad at me? Hmph! I was mad at him, too! His lie stung and my chest hurt for days after his stupid lie! And he prisoned granny and he never even apologized for keeping secrets from me about MY life, and now he wouldn't even talk to me?! Bad Alpha! I laid sullenly on a surfing board in the calm water of the pool, pretending I was over the sea. We couldn't surf on the beach right outside the house. There were too many reefs. We had to go along the coastline for long if
Willa's POV Of all the days that Kirsch had been avoiding me, this was the day he picked to come home early?! "Kirsch." Cerberus stopped his move with a chuckle, looking at me with a silly grin. "How does he ALWAYS appear at the crucial moments! This is getting ridiculous!" I grunted in frustration. "Mark." Cerberus shrugged, licking me on my clavicle, still chuckling. Ohh...! I jerked up in bed, shocked. That was how Kirsch knew I was having fun with Cerberus?! My ears turned burning red as I realized that he had known all this time. Cerberus sat up with me and took me to sit on his lap, nipping my earlobe as my body stiffened in the awkward realization. How lucky to have a mind ignorant of "embarrassment". Kirsch knocked on the bedroom door. "Hmm, Willa?" He asked in a cautious tone, the exact tone you use when you suspect that your mate is being lured into having sex with a minor! But Cerberus was NOT his! He was mine! I wrapped the towel around me and stormed to drag open
Taran's POVYou lose the sense of time in deep sleep, eventually. But I knew it was long this time, longer than any other time that I had been in the deep sleep. That was how I knew Cerberus was really mad at me. After all, I did try to kill him.To kill me.I would have done that if it wasn't for the fact that Stone almost got Willa. I gave up control only to wake up on the new moon night, but we were too wake and we blacked out again.Cerberus woke up first. Our wolves are stronger physically, compared to our human part. And of course, he didn't wake me up.I was never so scared in deep sleep like this time because, in the past, Cerberus would knock me into deep sleep when he lost control, or was just mad at me. Not this time, this time he felt his life was threatened.I thought I would be trapped forever. At least for as long as Cerberus can before sudden death hits us.What was scarier than that, was the fact that the one thing I knew before we blacked out, was Cerberus trying to
Willa's POV"I'll take these downstairs." Kirsch cleaned up after we had dinner on the roof."Are you coming back?" I grabbed the bags out of his hand and his eyes darted to Cerberus like a startled rabbit."Of course I will! What are you thinking!" Kirsch answered with a high-pitched voice, the exact voice you use when you are caught red-handed. I squinted at him, trying to determine whether he was planning on a flee."I go with." Cerberus saw my doubt in Kirsch and took the trash over. Kirsch and I both rose our eyebrows in shock -- Cerberus never left my side since he came back to me. But I liked how he would spend time with Kirsch. After all, Kirsch was his only beta. The bond between an Alpha and his beta is a tight one, especially when he only had one.I lay on my surfing board, floating on the water. The moon was shining softly over my head, but was getting thinner every day. I used to hate that --It meant the new moon was getting closer. But not anymore. I could finally enjoy
Taran's POVWhen Scarlett opened her door to me she didn't even seem surprised."I knew you would come." Scarlett nodded at me, "I have been waiting for you.""What if I didn't wake up until her birthday?" I asked, impressed at the woman's confident look. She always seemed that she had everything in her control."The mad king can't mark Willa without you." Scarlett shrugged, "Come on in."I nodded with a defeated chuckle but I didn't move: "You have everything under control, huh?""I have to. I would do anything to protect Willa." She said condescendingly in a firm tone."I have no doubt about that." I took a step aside instead of forward, "But I didn't come alone."Kirsch came out first. But it was Willa's appearance that shocked Scarlett.Willa appeared from the corner of the house, tears falling down. For the first time, I saw a scared look on Scarlett's face when she meet Willa's watery eyes. She instantly reached her hand out, only to pause in the air and dropped soon. I noticed
Taran's POV I lied... A little. I told Kirsch to tell the truth because that would be what Willa wants, but secretly, I wanted her to know for a different reason -- I wasn't sure whether we could solve our curses -- well, curse, because the whole curse was caused by both of us. It was a curse I shared with Willa. But on this matter, I saw only two solutions-- My death...or I share my mate with Kirsch. I could feel how much Kirsch loved Willa, and how much he loved me. To be frank, I didn't mind sharing my mate with Kirsch at this point. He was more than a brother to me. Except for the fact that we looked different, we were closer than any other twins. But I didn't know whether Cerberus would be okay about it. The problem with the curse is that neither of our wolves -- Nox nor Cerberus -- could NOT comprehend the fact that they are one with our human part. In the past, this caused Nox's human part, in the most recent case, Scarlett, to fall in love with her Alpha when her wolf, N
Kirsch's POVI really thought Stone would make at least SOME suspicous move when he comes over, but he didn't.All he did, he did right in front of my eyes, at his invitation. I knew he was trying to gaining my trust by asking me to participate in everything, but something felt off, and I couldn't quite pin it.The most frustrating part was, I couldn't catch him with anything when it felt like it was right in front of my eyes."Ready for our date, Alpha Kirsch?" Stone was still in his human form when I came out in my wolf form. He would try to stay as long as he could in his human form whenever he was over in the pack, and I talked about that with Rudy, we both agreed that Stone was trying to lower our guard by showing up harmless, which was the most dangerous disguise.I wasn't falling for that. And the most annoying part, was his constant effort on starting a conversation."I proposed that we go North today because of the recent event." Stone walked by my side and Rudy started runni
Taran's POVDays passed, but everything seemed fine.Kirsch kept a regular daily report, but mostly about how Stone sent over people for some non-important spots on patrol, and Kirsch has sent men over, too. Every time Stone came over to our pack, he would inform Kirsch, and do a regular patrol together with Kirsch. As much as Kirsch hated it, it was better that Stone was kept under his nose.I know I'm not imagining it that Willa, or should I say, Nox, had been less happy ever since Kirsch left. Though I kept her company -- or rather -- she wouldn't let me go anywhere without her attached on my waist, there was always this gloomy cloud in her eyes that no amount of ice cream could chase away.Yep, ice cream.Lived a thousand lives in misery, ice cream has become the dark goddess's one solace that she can face without guilt.I feel like she felt guilty toward me, and I don't know why.All I knew was, I was able to get the magic about draining one's blood out of her that day, and even
Kirsch's POVIt wasn't like Stone would make his move right there at the Treaty.Taran and Willa hurried back in a couple of hours, at which time Stone already left the Treaty."So we have the time all to ourselves now?!" Willa cheered, bouncing on the bed at that news, "Great!"Leaning on the door frame, Taran shot Willa a weird look hearing that, but he didn't put in a comment."It can't be good that Stone chose to work with me," I frowned in deep thought. There is a mountain between our packs, and now we have to share the patrol duty, we have to exchange people, "I'll head back first. You guys can stay here and enjoy the vacation."I don't know how to trust anyone Stone might send."We need to stay together," Taran suddenly said, his eyes on the floor with his arms folded in front of him, "we don't know what Stone is up to, but if there is anything he desires from us, it's within the three of us.""But I don't want to go yet..." Willa pouted, begging Taran, "Please, please? I have
Kirsch's POV"So you are telling me, he's actually part of the Treaty now?!" I turned to Powell with disbelief. The first thing I saw after I went into the meeting room, I couldn't believe --It was Stone, sitting in the second chair to the chairman of the Treaty. And something was different about him -- something besides the fact that he got a whole new arm.Turning his ring in a leisurely way, Stone smirked without looking at me: "I never knew the Treaty treats Alphas so poorly.""Stone Hayes is our new thirteenth Alpha," Powell turned to me with a sullen look, "pay some due respect, Kirsch."I frowned at Powell: "Well, you have changed! What got into you?"Not that I expected Powell to support me for our history's sake, but he had always been disapproval of Stone before this -- well, before the Treaty suddenly turned on Taran.[Don't push them too far,] Taran's voice suddenly rose in my head -- Rudy mindlinked him when we saw Stone there in the room, [I'm afraid Powell is no longer
Kirsch's POVI wanted to stay on the sofa -- actually, I wanted to die on the sofa. There was nothing that could ever lure me more than sex with both of my mates.Taran pulled out first. He handed the drunk, melted kitten over to me with a soft voice: "Take her to bed, will you? I'll go fetch some clean towels."Willa let out a protesting whimper when Taran was no longer inside her, but there was zero energy left in her to do anything more than that.I pulled her close, supporting her body with my hands under her thighs as I walked over to the bed."Owww..." Willa moaned faintly with a mild smile, liking the little tingles my cock spread inside her with the movement."Greedy little kitten," I mumbled with a chuckle, leaving kisses on her lips and chin and neck after I put her onto the bed before I pulled out slowly. She dragged me on my shoulder and pulled me into bed with her before she snuggled into my arms and closed her eyes with a naughty smile."I REALLY have to attend the meeti
Kirsch's POV I didn't even know when Taran stopped, just so he wouldn't distract her, but I surely felt it when he started again-- Without even giving her time to answer Rudy, Taran rammed into her, making her gasp in the sudden pleasure, and she took our lips into a firey kiss as she moved over our tip. Rudy let go of her hand and gave me control. [What was that--] I started, struggling between the waves of tingles spreading over my body. [You have a more urgent problem at hand,] Rudy nudged me with a grin, [make her happy or I will!] I believe I stopped paying attention to him halfway through his nagging. Taran let go of Willa, leaving her firm breasts pressed against me, and I felt like they were two balls of fire, burning my skin in the most amazing way. He had one leg knelt on the sofa and bent down with her, helping her sit down on me and getting my cock all the way into her to the deepest. The huge pleasure took away my breath. Willa let out a little whimper with her le
Kirsch It was like my heart inflated before exploded when that word rolled off Willa's tongue, and my head was totally blank during that fierce kiss. I almost wish I could die at that moment so the kiss would never end. I felt bad stealing Willa from Taran, but I couldn't help accepting Willa's teasing when she showed interest in me. She was like a poison with the most delicious flavor, and knowing it would kill me I devoured her still every time I got the chance. But until now, it was only teasing-- She would jump on me and lick my collarbone, sending tingles that make me tremble, but never had her lips land on mine; she would press herself against me and giggle, but mostly it was only when she wanted stuff FROM me, unlike now when her eyes were sinking into mine with pure desire as if all she wanted was me. And that was the poison I could never escape. "Mate!" I responded when my lips finally found a gasp of freedom before I took her into my chest and kneaded as if we could beco
Taran's POVI cut off the mindlink with Kirsch, and instantly--[We can wake Willa up,] Cerberus huffed in a hurtful tone. He noticed not a moment later than I did.He was in pain. It physically hurt us to know that our mates are suffering, and Cerberus knew the pain of being kept in deep sleep more than anyone --Well, anyone but Nox.[She can put Willa into deep sleep once, she can do it again,] I suppressed the bitter sting in my chest to comfort my wolf, [we have to solve this properly without hurt to either of them. They are one, Cerberus.][She needs the other mate mark,] Cerberus kept his calm, it was so much easier to talk to him right now, [but I doubt she would mark anyone if she couldn't even mark Kirsch.][She couldn't mark Kirsch because her human part was in deep sleep,] I watched Cerberus carefully -- I know the jealousy I have been feeling was half from him, [Nox loves Kirsch. She can't fight the mate pull.][So
Taran's POV "Powell, good to see you again," I reached out my hand to Powell when Willa and Kirsch both turned their heads away when they saw Powell greeting us at the gate of the Treaty. "The same!" Powell grabbed my hand gratefully, and instantly let go when Willa shot him a death stare, "I'm so glad to have you with us, Alpha Taran!" "He's not the Alpha," Willa suddenly interrupted in a cold tone, "Kirsch Murphy is our current Alpha, and we are hoping you can at least pay your due respect to little details like these." Kirsch stared at Willa in shock with his jaw on the ground before he turned to me with confusion in his eyes. Though both of them are my mates, I do taste jealousy every time Willa appears close to Kirsch, and that was when I noticed -- Willa HAD been closer to Kirsch, and it actually started since the day when she failed to mark him. I was worried that day would ruin the little closeness they had before. "I'm terribly sorry! Miss..." Powell hesitated, and oddl
