Kirsch's POV
I embraced myself for the pain, but Cerberus jumped into the air at the last second before he could reach me and dashed over my head. I quickly got up to my feet, only to see a wolf running away with a man riding on its back.
It was Stone!
Cerberus growled furiously as more wolves appeared, surrounding us.
[Ethan! Where are you?! Get the warriors to the beach!] I shouted in the mindlink, but no one answered me.
[Annie! Where are you?! Annie?!] No answer either.
The wolf pack surrounded Cerberus as Stone rode on one wolf, hiding behind his herd. It took me a moment to realize the reason--
He lost an arm!
[Richard?! Thomas?! Matthew!] I started trying on all the other betas. What the hell was going on?! Did Stone take over the whole fucking pack?! I didn't feel any death happening in the pack bond. It was simply impossible!
[Alpha.] Thomas answered me first, with a relaxed tone no less!
[Where the hell
Kirsch's POV The wolves all groveled down on their front paws, including Stone! I felt such an urge to obey her that I almost also groveled down, but Rudy refused to kneel. Willa glanced at Stone with a cold condescending look before she turned to Cerberus. I peeked at my Alpha, too, realizing he was not only NOT kneeling, but was already walking toward her like usual as if her power wasn't working on him. Willa stopped and waited. Cerberus got to her and sat in front of her. She put a hand on his head like an owner of her pet, except that pet was a fierce beast that could kill without a blink. "How dare you hurt your king?" Willa turned to Stone, who was frozen as a stone by now. Suitable name. He stared at Willa with only fear in his eyes. "Tear him up." Willa waved her hand lightly without another look at Stone. The wolf herd suddenly jumped up and dashed at Stone without hesitation. Stone pulled Annie's fur and she whimpered before turning
Willa's POV It was the first time I completely fainted during a wolfsbane attack. The last time anything ever close like that was that fateful night five years ago when I was lost half of the time. But not like this. This time it was as if I went into a different world. Everything was dark and quiet. I couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't talk. Trapped, in nothingness. The good part was that the pain also stopped when the world disappeared. I waited there so long that I lost sense of time until all of a sudden something broke the peace. The furious voice rose again, shouting horrible things. But I didn't have time to do anything before the pure darkness shattered as I fell to I didn't know where. My mind was still a mush but pain and coldness returned instantly. Then a kiss. Burning hot, printed on my forehead. Kirsch's body was cold, but still warmer than the freezing water. He had his arm around my wais
Willa's POV Like always, I woke up right after dawn. I was back in my bed, all warm and comfortable. Even the sunshine flooding the floor looked cute! It was a MESSY new moon, for sure. But I couldn't be happier -- the new moon nights of my nightmare, the darkness of endless burning, the once every month torture... Was finally over! Forever! It was the first day of the last month before I turn 18, and my birthday was on the 24th so the poison had no chance to get to me again before the moon goddess gives me her blessing! My evernight was finally over! I couldn't believe I pulled that through! I had wanted to give up so many times that I had lost count! If it wasn't for granny who had been there for me all this time, I would have died a million times! [Granny!] I shouted in the mindlink, not able to wait for a second longer, [This is over, right?! I won't ever get another wolfsbane attack, right?!...granny?]
Kirsch's POV I prisoned Scarlett. She wasn't even surprised when I ordered her to follow me with the Alpha Aura. Actually, she smiled when I came to her door the very next day of the new moon as if she had been expecting me. "You are not allowed to accept Willa's mindlink until I say otherwise." That was my first sentence toward Scarlett, using Alpha Aura. She nodded with a smirk. I took her to a secret safe house in the woods behind the Alpha's house, a safehouse that Taran didn't even know about. "Is Willa really poisoned by wolfsbane?" I started with the one question that bothered me for long. It would be a really rare case, but if not, then many legends about magic would make sense on Willa's case-- "No." Scarlett sighed as she answered. She knew she couldn't hide that if I ever got suspicious and asked her directly with Alpha Aura. "Willa is the one who has magic, isn't it?" I asked, knowing the answer-- "Y
Willa's POV Kirsch hid in his office for the whole day before he finally ran out of excuses and came home, during which time I had used up all my brain cells to entertain Cerberus without actually kissing him. It wasn't too bad so long as I never mention Taran's name. I didn't know what Taran said or did, but it probably involved wolfsbane, so naturally, Cerberus didn't want to wake up someone who might fight for control with him. "Finally!" I jumped up when Kirsch entered the door. He froze by the door, staring at me in shock. "You are still up? It's past midnight!" He murmured, darting his eyes at the door as if considering whether I would notice if he makes a run for it. "How am I supposed to sleep when big fella here tries to kiss me all the time while you, being our Alpha, hide away from problems!" I went and shut the door behind him, trapping him in the living room with us. "Why is that a problem? You guys kiss all the ti
Kirsch's POV I decided to keep the secret of Willa's wolf a while longer. There was too much I still didn't know about that, when Scarlett seemed to know a lot more. Willa didn't know she was cursed, nor that her wolf had been waking up every new moon. I didn't know how she would feel about that, not to mention it meant that her granny had been lying to her all her life with basically everything. "I think you don't remember it because Cerberus shouted that through the mindlink. I'm not sure if you were linked in but I did send you a request." I had got so much better at lying now, and Willa didn't seem to suspect a bit. "Really? Are you just saying this because you don't want me to go?" Willa squinted her eyes in suspicion. "Cerberus is here, ask him yourself!" I nodded at Cerberus, knowing Willa would believe him. We both knew Cerberus never lies, and she trusted Cerberus. She felt the special bond between them, I knew it! I didn't kn
Willa's POV With Kirsch's help, I got some answers out of Cerberus. I was a bit unsure of it until I kissed him lightly on the lips. The sting that had been in my chest was gone the moment I felt his warmth. Of course, he didn't stop that kiss there but that was another story. I didn't yet know why Taran would lie about being my mate, but I could imagine his lousy excuses even before he woke up -- "You are yet to age", or like, "I'm cursed so I'm worried", etc. He was really a silly wolf. Things were back to how they were before Stone appeared -- I moved back to Taran's place because Cerberus would sit on the floor outside my room for a whole night if I sleep in mine. All was back except one thing -- Cerberus wouldn't wake up Taran. Cerberus was mild and cute most of the time -- well, all the time actually, so long as nobody mentions Taran. He was still covered in injuries from the battles he had been so I didn't want to upset him. Kirsch said we heal slower without our human p
Willa's POV I was pretty sure Kirsch knew what we were doing in the bedroom. Apparently, Cerberus thought the same thing-- He snorted at Kirsch every time he laid his eyes on Kirsch for a whole day. "Why aren't you at work? Isn't it a Wednesday?!" I rolled my eyes as I put another slice of pizza in my mouth. As good as it was, we had been living on take-out for days. I missed Taran's cooking. "Hmm...? Not too much happening at work..." Kirsch glanced up before his eyes fell back on the file he held in his hand...which was work! He totally stayed at home when his work was piling up to the dining table just to keep an eye on me and Cerberus! "Well, then you will have time to go out with us in the afternoon, right?" I curved my lips tauntingly. "Hmm...sure." Kirsch nodded as his eyes dashed from left to right fast before he suddenly looked up, "Where are you going?!" "To the beach. I thought it would be fun to spend some time there. We both love it." I grinned at his wretched look,
