Staring at the hummingbird, I try to make sense out of this. Is this the sign from the note?

How can the door simply open and the guards not react because of a hummingbird?

I try to see if my wolf feels alerted, but she still stays silent.

It keeps on flying back and forth. Circling my room, coming towards me, and then flying out of the door, just to return seconds later, repeating it’s actions. It’s as if it wants me to follow.

As I was going to spend the entire day in my bedroom with closed windows, I simply got changed into a pair of light blue shorts and a white tank top. So I wonder whether to get changed before I follow? But by the way the hummingbird flies in and out of this room, it seems in a hurry, and I don’t know how big my time slot is. If there’s such a thing at all. Maybe it’s all just a trick.

I guess I’ll need to find out. After quickly slipping on some trainers, I start limping out of the door, following the tiny hummingbird. Looking left and right. Directly beside m

“A spell?” I burst out. This is the second time someone has told me that I’ve been under a spell. But both of them are in a very different way.“I don’t know exactly how they did it. I guess it was easier to cast a spell on you as your powers haven’t awakened yet. But either way, it was an extremely strong spell, one that could disconnect you from me and make you believe you were mated to Drake. But it only worked on you, not on me. Whatever the reason was for them to bind you to him, they didn’t want me to get in between. They did everything to keep me away from you.” His eyes fill with sadness. Through the connection, I feel anger, grief, and loss. At least, I think that’s what it is. Everything still feels like it’s blurred, and I can’t fully understand what I’m feeling. It’s extremely confusing, and I don’t exactly feel comfortable with it either.“But how come I can feel you now if there’s this spell?” I ask, confused about his words and the entire situation. Ever since the day

  • Luna's Uprising    22. Escape

There is a huge open space between the rear side of the packhouse and the woods. The late sun is still bright enough to lighten up the entire place. No house, no trees, nothing as protection to hide behind. Just open fields filled with beautiful wild flowers and knee-high grass. It is a beautiful sight but the worst thing imaginable for our current situation. “Let me down,” I yell at Jax, feeling panic rising, my heartbeat increasing by the second. But he keeps running in the direction of the woods, totally ignoring my request. Only moments later, another wolf appears at our side, one I don’t recognise. It’s a fairly tall wolf with dark brown fur. There’s no escaping from Drake, I think to myself, filled with bitterness. More wolves will be here any moment, and I prepare myself for the wolf to attack Jax, but it doesn’t. Instead, it falls into pace with Jax, running only about five feet next to us, heading direction woods.“I told you to keep them distracted,” Jax scolds angrily. “D

  • Luna's Uprising    23. Disgusting scent

“Luna, run," echoes in my head again, but I wouldn’t even know how or where.Even with his wounded shoulder and Drake right behind us, Jax keeps on running deeper and deeper into the woods with me on his arms. He elegantly dodges several attempts of wolves coming at us.Drake seems to be sending his warriors in first line instead of attacking himself. I’m surprised how easily Jax seems to be able to deal with them even in his human form. That’s until he comes to a sudden halt. I feel him tense up, his arms wrapping tighter around me again.Looking around, I see many different eyes, from all directions staring at us. My wolf growls inwardly. There’s no way out, I knew it the moment we left. The warriors from the borders have now joined to come in this direction, adding up to the rest of the pack. With wolves coming from all directions towards us, we’re totally surrounded. Leaving us with currently only three wolves against an entire pack. That’s if Jenny and Freddie are indeed on our s

The taste of mud fills my mouth. I’m coughing from aspirating mud, and whatever else is lying on the ground. It’s cold and damp, but my entire body feels like it’s burning up. My heart is racing so bad I can hear the thumbing in my ears. My mind seems fuzzy, and I try to make out my surroundings, but my vision still seems blurry. I try to grip on to something in front of me to get myself up, a tree or something like it, I can’t exactly tell. The pain is ripping through my entire body, but I know I can’t stay here. Trying to push myself up further only results in me slipping on wet leaves on the ground, banging my head against something. Again, I find myself crashing down. Pain and burning intensifying by the moment, I try to breathe through it.But no matter how hard I try, my vision keeps on blurring up or going black, and my body is unable to move. I feel myself starting to shiver, from the cold ground beneath me, mud covering my skin, the little clothes I had on are torn from the

Jax is standing there in the doorway in all his beauty. Even if he wasn’t my mate, there’s no doubt I’d feel attracted to him. Just as most of the powerful Alphas, he’s tall. I’d even say Jax is extremely tall. Even his wolf is a giant, bigger than any I have ever seen before. The broad shoulders, every single muscle well defined, he’s not hiding it in the slightest underneath his plain white t-shirt. His jaw is sharp. There are those mesmerizing green eyes. His face has got this slight edge to it. His slightly wavy chocolate brown hair is a slight mess, as if the wind had just brushed through it. Making him look wild, untamed, ruthless, simply a hot mess. And those full lips look as if they are the sweetest temptation. He gulps slightly, and I realize that I’ve just been blatantly staring at him and got caught. My cheeks blush in an instant, and I feel them burning, but differently to what it was in the woods. The intensity of his stare just adds up to the fire.“I think I should get

I’m left back in confusion. Once Trevor has left the room, too, I’m left totally alone again with my thoughts and questions lingering on my mind. Every time one question gets answered, the next ten seem to pile up.My eyes dart around the room. It seems very spacious and luxurious for a hospital. It has to be a private room by the looks of it. On the side table and windowsill, I see loads of bunches of flowers in various kinds, their sweet scent filling the air. Counting them it makes up to fourteen. Are they from Jax? Did he bring me flowers every single day? There are so many unanswered questions on my mind right now. I wish he hadn’t just stormed off and at least given me answers to some of the most recent questions. Like what happened that night? How did he get out? What about Drake? And I’ve not seen Jenny or Freddie here. Are they ok?Hours pass without a single word from either Jax or Alex. I try to sleep but feel restless at not knowing or understanding what’s going on. • Luna's Uprising    27. Welcome home

Within the following three days, I didn’t really get to see Jax at all. He seemed to have come for visits during the nights when I was sleeping and left before I woke up. The only thing hinting his visits were the new flowers at my bedside and his scent still lingering in the air. Once, I was nearly sure to have seen him standing at the window, but instead of looking out, his eyes were on me. But once I was finally able to fully open my eyes, he was gone.Tonya and Ben have been within my room, accompanying me, instead of staying in front of the door the entire time. To be honest, we had a lot of fun together. Tonya is extremely outward going, fierce and funny, while Ben seems to be very calm and more sensible. Whenever Tonya started pushing questions a little too much, causing me to feel uncomfortable, Ben would make sure for her to back down. She seems to want to know every single little detail about me.Ben is the younger one, and Tonya made sure to remind him of that fact every si

It doesn’t take long until I hear howling coming from different directions. Even if I’m not part of this pack, I can tell it’s a stress call. There’s no doubt it’s because of me running out. My mind goes back to the look on Tonya’s and Ben’s face the moment I left. The way they were taken aback. It surprises me that they’re not right behind me already.Admitted, I do feel sorry for them, knowing that they’re going to get into huge trouble as soon as Jax gets to them. Their orders were clear to keep me safe and stay at my side at all times. If they had tried to hold me back, I wouldn’t have stood a chance against their strength. There’s this nerve-wracking ringing in my head, as if someone is trying to get inside, but I ignore it. The first wolves on the streets seem to start to recognise me, even if I’ve never seen any of them before. Surely Jax has sent out an image of me over the mind link. Now I wish I was on normal pack grounds not in a city, full of people, with so many pairs of

Seems like my other ilnesses have made me very vulnerable. Even if this is my 4th time with Covid, it hit me nearly as bad as the 1st time.Currently, the high dose of cortisone and some oxygen are starting to help. The fever also has come down again. So I will try updating very soon. We're so close to the end of this story, and I feel really bad about not being able to update for so long decently. I hope you understand. Lots of love Jackie♡♡♡♡

My eyes still linger on Jax’s distraught face. Fear of what might have happened to Sybil and Emily or any of the others is nagging at me. But with the knock interrupting us, I know I’m not getting my answer from him right now. I huff slightly in annoyance.“Come in,” Jax calls out. I’m surprised that whoever is there even waited to be called in. Usually there’s only a short knock, and the people enter.Balloons, a huge amount of floating balloons attached to a string, get pushed through the opening door, covering everything behind it. I move left and right, trying to get a glimps of who this might be before the balloons finally move aside and give the view free to my best friends entering the room. Upfront is Ben with the balloons, then comes Tonya with a huge bunch of flowers, followed by Jenny with a tray of cupcakes, and Freddie holds a small teddy bear with "get well" on it. The last one to enter is Alex, holding a huge box of fancy looking chocolates in his hand, giving me the bri

Amelia’s POV:I wake up in an unfamiliar, dark room, but the smell of wounds and disinfectant biting within my nose tells me exactly where I am. I’m obviously at a hospital. Memories come flashing in on me. “Jax!” I sit up abruptly, with my heart thudding violently in my chest. I start throwing the blanket from my body. Panicked, I try to get out of bed until a voice and a hand pressed against my shoulder stop me, and the hand presses me right back into place.“I’m here. I'm here, my love,” I hear his sleepy, deep, and husky voice. “You need to stay in bed.”Without saying another word, I throw my arms around his neck and sob hard against his chest. “I thought……. I thought….I lost you. I thought you were dying,” I cry in relief and pain at the same time. The mere thought of losing him has me totally shook up and causes a pain in my chest, literally taking my breath away. My fingers dig stronger into his back, and I pull him harder into me, making sure he’s really here and not just an

  • Luna's Uprising    129. Roots Jax’s POV

Jax’s POVI feel warmth and power flooding my aching body, relieving the pain and soothing all my senses. Taking deep breaths, my lungs finally expand and fill with air again decently. I was sure I was suffocating only moments ago, I was sure this was it, that I was dying. But then I could feel her, I could feel her love, her power, her body pressed to mine, pulling me out of the dark place I was captivated in. She’s the sole reason the pain is gone, and I’m able to breathe again.Amelia! Without having opened my eyes, I can feel something is terribly wrong. I stir and try my hardest to pry my eyes open. “Amelia!” I choke out and shake her limp body, which is still wrapped around me. “Amelia, wake up!” Nothing happens. It’s then that I notice all the others around us, at least a part of us.Memories of what happened crash in on me, and I remember being buried alive and a sheer amount of bricks coming down after an explosion. By the distraught look on the other faces, I know the situati

“Jax! Jax! Jax!” I call out repeatedly, verbally but also through our mind link, feeling like I'm going out of my mind.No reaction. I can’t even feel him trying to connect with me in return. All I can feel is pain and cold. With Ben and Alex hot on my tracks, I pace through the chaotic state within the arena as fast as possible. I don’t even take much notice of what Emily and Sybil are doing right now.“Amelia!” I feel a little relief seeing Tristan limping towards me. But my heart drops the moment I realise there’s no Jax at his side. They were together. Jax should be with Tristan.“Where is he? Where is Jax?” I question panicked as soon as I reach Tristan.“He…… I…….. He saved my life,” Tristan chokes out, but his words just make me even more nervous. “Then, where is he?” Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely relieved that Tristan is alive and Jax saved him. But my guts twist into knots, seeing that Jax isn’t here next to him.“He…. He pushed me aside just on time before the bricks c

  • Luna's Uprising    127. Trust me

“The Gold moon Alpha is gone,” one of the warriors calls out, realising the same as I did moments ago.Jax pushes me further behind him. His eyes are scanning the entire place. The longer he’s scanning it, the more I feel him tense. We all know it’s a very bad sign. Drake steps towards Alana and shakes her, seemingly trying to get her back to normal, but I doubt he’s able to shake the possession out of her. Watching him act with her, I wonder if he loves her. If he ever truly loved her? There definitely has been more between them, but it doesn’t look like he cares in the same way for her as she did for him. I can see that now. They were both hungry for power and traded their mate bond for it. From what I know now, Tiffany did the exact same thing. She rejected her weak mate because he wasn’t good enough for her. Instead, she wanted the powerful Alpha with his pack. Drake and Alana both wanted my power. They somehow knew about it.My grip tightens on Jax. For nothing in the world woul

I’m startled by the loud roaring voice echoing through the arena. Jax, next to me, still seems to be searching for the source of the voice, while I am staring at the man causing it. He may be in his early fifties. I know I’ve seen that face from far off on some of Drake’s events. Even if I wouldn’t know him, the facial features are a dead giveaway of who he is.“This gathering is against any agreement we made,” he bellows across the arena angrily at Jax. “You declared an open war to me by dropping my daughter. This is your last chance to rectify the situation. Send that worthless mutt away. Banish her from all pack grounds, make her the rogue she truly is, and I will reconsider a war with you,” the Alpha of the Gold moon pack demands. The crowd, that had been cheering moments ago, now turns silent, looking back and forth between Jax and the Gold moon Alpha, waiting for what is to come next. Jax’s grip tightens on me.“I am sorry if I hurt your and your daughters pride. It was never my

  • Luna's Uprising    Author: Christmas break

Hi everyone, I had intended on finishing this story this year. Unfortunately, a lot has happened the last couple of weeks. My health has been quite bad. The surgery on my dog has taken a toll and a lot of time, as we've been spending every second at the vet for 3,5 weeks now. Last week, her stitches burst open again. Which needed further treatment. And when things go wrong, they totally go wrong. My electrical wheelchair device totally broke down, too. All of it is taking a toll on my health and is taking a lot of time. My head hasn't really been in the right place to write. As Christmas is also coming, I ofc also have those preparations, which are even more difficult with my broke down wheelchair. So I hope you'll understand that I need to take a little time off. The next update will come on January 1st. To those of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a happy and healthy Christmas time. But ofc to all of you others too, have an amazing time. Thanks for your patience. And if y

Jax’s POVI called in an urgent gathering. Most of my people have already met Amelia. The most important ones were at the safe house. But the situation has changed since. At that time, things were still a mess, but now we’re engaged, and she’s officially the future Luna to this pack.Amelia walks up and down the hall nervously, tugging at her clothes. She’s wearing a dark blue pencil dress, Tonya has picked for her. Making her look like a businesswoman. “Do you think they will hate me? I mean, they all knew about Tiffany. I don’t have all that money she can provide or the power of the pack……” she trails off while fidgeting with her fingers.A soft chuckle escapes my lips. “Are you serious right now?”She looks surprised up at my tiny outburst, unable to understand why I think this is funny. I take her hands in mine and gently caress the ring she just had been fidgeting around on. “Amelia, you have more power than any of us. You are the true werewolf queen, the true Luna to all of us.
