Maverick Peterson POVThe moment I saw Willow, I was relieved to see she was alright. My relief was short lived when I saw the man next to her. While he also had white hair and silver eyes, he wasn't the same man as before.Considering how the others were treating him, the man had to be high up. The problem was that I couldn't determine the man's identity, as no one outside of Higsnesia knew anything about the people running the country.Well, it didn't matter as long as they released Willow. They didn't seem to be holding her against her will, but for some reason she didn't cross the border to come to me."I will say it again. Release Willow," I ordered. The man didn't say anything to me. In fact, he chose to ignore my existence to whisper to Willow. At his blatant disregard and his unnatural closeness to her, I could feel my impending rage getting stronger. What was worse was that I couldn't hear what they were saying, despite how close we were. It must have had something to do with
Willow Baker POVThis wasn't what I wanted. In fact, it was the exact opposite of what I wanted. I couldn't understand why Maverick refused to take my word for it and pick a fight with the Grand Duke of Higsnesia.'Maybe he thinks you're being mind controlled.''That's ridiculous. I'm not. They don't have that kind of magic.'However, as I thought about it, I wondered if maybe they did have that kind of magic. Maverick would know better than me, and if he thought it was a possibility, then I couldn't ignore it.Of course, I reasoned that it couldn't have happened because they hadn't done anything to show they had used magic against me. Also, Winter would have caught them in the act.'Not necessarily. We don't know everything about how magic works. It might have slipped past me.''Please don't say such scary things.''I'm just telling the truth.'I didn't need another thing on my plate right now, especially as Maverick had already started counting down. This was bad, but I had no clue
Willow Baker POVThe Grand Duke of Higsnesia broke the awkward silence by laughing. His reaction was so out there that all I could do was stare at the man in wonder. Maverick's expression didn't waver in the slightest.Once the Grand Duke of Higsnesia stopped laughing, he said, "How unexpected. You have quite interesting thoughts, my lady." Turning his attention to Maverick, who was giving him a dirty look, he asked, "What do you think about her suggestions?"Maverick scowled, and I wondered what he would do. Even if he didn't choose any of my suggestions, I would hope that he would take this opportunity that I had given him to settle things peacefully. After several more moments of staring, Maverick finally said, "If you're truly not holding her hostage, I would like to send some of my people over to stay by her side."This time it was the Grand Duke of Higsnesia's turn to frown. "I can't allow that. The barrier won't let anyone who doesn't have angel blood in.""Then we're at an imp
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours LaterAs I stared at the people around me, I had to admit that I was a little in over my head. When Winter and I had planned to hunt for clues regarding the others, I never expected things to turn out like this. After I had been given some privacy, Winter and I had discussed what to do. Obviously, the short time frame had limited our options, so we had to as efficient as possible.Exploring all of Higsnesia was impossible even if we did have time, so we had to narrow down the places we could investigate. That had been difficult given our limited knowledge of the place.Luckily, I had been able to grab a servant to help me, though it wasn't much. However, it had been better than nothing, as there hadn't been anyone else we could ask for help.He had told us quite a bit about the capital and given advice about places to go and places to avoid. After thanking him for his advice, we had sent him on his way to determine where was our best bet was.Since we ha
Willow Baker POVHis words were enough to shake me out of it, and I said, "I don't think it's any of your business."He looked unimpressed as he said, "I'm sure the Grand Duke would want to hear this."I froze. This was bad. I hadn't noticed that someone had been following me. Winter hadn't said anything, and given how agitated she was, it meant that she hadn't noticed him either.Adverting my eyes, I said, "I don't understand why the Grand Duke would care about this. He has more important things to do than check on one woman.""It is if said woman is the Grand Duchess of Datumia," the young man said.'Why did you even bother trying to trick him?''I thought that maybe I could convince him he got the wrong person.''Well, it might have worked if your hood wasn't down.'At her words, I instinctively touched my head and found that she was right. After the thug had removed my hood, I hadn't had time to put it back on. No wonder he didn't fall for my lies. My features were on full display
Willow Baker POVIf what the young man said is true, then it was definitely impossible for us to travel there unless we could teleport there. Unfortunately, it looked like I had no choice but to give up. The very thought caused me to bite down on my lip."You shouldn't bite your lip," the young man said as he reached out to touch my lip.Frankly disturbed by the action, I immediately put some distance between us. There was no reason for him to do something like that, as we weren't exactly close. Only a creep or pervert would try something like that."My apologies. I didn't mean to upset you," he said as he held up both hands in surrender.'He should have known better. We should ditch him as soon as possible.''I'm beginning to think that's the better choice, but I don't think that's possible right now.''Switch with me. Even if your stamina is crap, I can at least do something with it.'Even though I had so many reminders and kept telling myself to do something about my weak body, I h
Willow Baker POVThose with angel or demon blood wouldn't have a close connection to the Moon Goddess like purebred werewolves. It was why I hadn't been sure if she had been the reason I was in the past. However, that wasn't important. What was important was what I was supposed to do in this situation. The young man wasn't going to let go that easily, and I was in no position to fight against him. There was no one coming to rescue me either.Maybe if I had told someone where I was going, I would have had people come when I didn't return, but I wouldn't have been able to leave the "Why her? What's so special about your child that the Moon Goddess would send a message?" the young man muttered to himself.'He's delusional. This might be your chance to escape.''I've been trying.'He had seemingly forgotten my presence, but his grip was too strong for me to actually break free. I could only hope he loosened his grip enough for me to make my escape before I lost my chance.Suddenly, he st
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours LaterI wasn't sure how much time had passed since I had been kept a prisoner and Lesli had left me alone. There was no clock or window to let me know the time. It could have been an hour or several hours, but it couldn't have been more than a day.In that time, Winter and I had tried to figure out what to do. Our options were limited. I couldn't move freely as I was not only locked in the room but also had to worry about the others' safety. The former was something we could deal with on our own. However, I refused to act until I figured out where they were being kept, and I was able to help them once I made my escape.'There's just too little we know. It's likely they are in the dungeons, but it's also possible they aren't even in the same building.''The bond is still not letting me contact anyone either.''This is basically a waiting game. We have to rely on either Maverick or the Grand Duke of Higsnesia to do something.''Maverick won't be able to do
Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.
Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a
Willow Baker POV"Yes?" I squeaked.I mean, we were married, so I wasn't sure what he was talking about. However, instead of explaining himself, he smiled brightly at me. His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. "All we did was sign some papers and file them to formalize our marriage. I want us to have a wedding. It doesn't have to be big. It can just be us and our families or j
Willow Baker POVA Year LaterStaring up at the night sky, I smiled as I held Maverick's hand. I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked."What makes you think I brought you out here to have a talk?" he asked. "I could just want to spend
Willow Baker POVReaching out to the door, I opened it and was greeted by the sight of a gaunt Lesli. The putrid smell and poor condition nearly made me vomit as I covered my nose and mouth."Ah, Willow, you finally came. I was wondering when you would come," he said as he smiled at me. His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. "I can't exactly do anything to you right now.""I'm sure you'll find a way, but that's not
Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."
Willow Baker POVSeveral Days LaterLeaning back in my chair, I watched with a smile as Maverick played with Asa, who giggled loudly. For once, we were together not because someone had done something to make it happen, and I was quite happy about it.Maverick finally caught Asa, who laughed even harder when he raised her up into the air. She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Asa immediately reached out to me.Standing up, I took her from him, and we both settled down to enjoy the tea and snacks that had been left out. Asa tried to reach for the cookie I had, but I kept it out of arm's reach. She was far too young to be eating them.As I nibbled on the cookie while ignoring Asa's attempts to grab it out of
Willow Baker POVSeveral Hours Later'As you were saying.''I still say it isn't bad.'Of course, she would say that. She wasn't the one who had to endure all the stares as I sat next to Maverick. It was like being surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves, ready to pounce at any moment.Maverick scanned the room before standing. "Now that everyone is here, I believe there is something we need to seriously discuss." His face hardened as he said, "You all need to stop harassing us, especially Willow." Immediately, several people looked offended by his words, but he continued on, "This has gone on long enough.""Maverick, I believe you need to watch yo
Willow Baker POVA Few Weeks LaterAfter what had felt like centuries, I had finally kicked everyone out without being rude. I had thought that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
