After we had a few more discussions, majorly discoveries about my wolf. I believed all reports they gave me one after the other and I could not help but be surprised.
I wanted to probe further but he strongly and indirectly countered me. I already got his message so I no longer bothered, then I remembered his burning forest.
"How's the Eldrid forest now?" I asked."Why do you care?" Jordan just suddenly started acting grumpy. What was his deal, really?
"Why not? I was there when Kai reported it to you, and by the way what's Eldrid forest?" "The training ground." Karima responded and my eyes widened."Really? Really? That forest where I almost died?" I raised my brows, not believing I had been so worried about the forest that almost had me killed.
"That was my fault, I am very sorry." Karima apologized and I frowned."Why are you taking responsibility for what happened?"
"She has to, because she serves you."
"You have overstayed your welcome, Jordan, you can leave." I said to him, feeling annoyed. They both kept cutting me off and replying for each other.
"Not so soon, Mira." Jordan replied, giving me that suspicious eye."What do you mean?" I inquired and turned to Karima slowly, to ask her if she probably knew anything.
She shook her head slowly and then Jordan stood up from the couch. "We are heading to the Eldrid forest together, woman." He announced and my heart skipped a beat.."Ain't no way I am going back there." I whined, not believing my ears.
"Yes you are." He insisted and I turned to Karima for help, it did not seem like she had any help to offer anyway. Like they both had it all planned out."Why??" I cried. "You need to get to the very end of yourself, Mira." Karima chipped in, responding.
What was all these? What end again? Before I could say any more thing, we were bi-located and I needed no one to tell me that Jordan had did that.I frowned so hard the moment we landed on that familiar spot in the Eldrid forest. "I am on just pants and sweatshirt." I whined but he did not even pay much attention.
"Stop whining and let's get to work. We have only three hours to spend here." He said."What is that supposed to mean?" I raised my brows, asking no one in particular but I got a response.
Karima snuck up from behind and said to me, "We are here on a mission and it has to be carried out within then. Our time starts now."Everything she said only got me even more confused. "What mission are you talking about? In this forest?"
"Yeah, it's some sort of punishment for the book you read." "Wait, the Italian book? Why? Who's giving the punishment? I thought the book was Jordan's?"At that point, Jordan was already walking quite far away from us so he could not have overheard our conversation. It also seemed like Karima was now comfortable with giving me those information.
"Yes, it's his. But you are not supposed to have an access to any information that has to do with your wolf, Kierra. It should be a personal discovery, one of the ancient punishments given to Kierra for self reflection."
"Okay.." I said, urging her to continue. There was a moment silence for a while before she continued.
"So young Lord Reign stole Mr. Jordan's book and brought it to you, still that does not matter to the moon goddess. As long as the book gets to you, the owner is to be punished and that's what we are here for.""Oh wow, what could Kierra have done that made things so hard this way?" I was even feeling pity for Kierra when she was literally me.
"Uhm...that..." "What are guys doing? Get over here!" Jordan yelled from where he was, making us startled and urged to hasten our steps after him.So Karima did not get to tell me what it was that Kierra did.
We continued walking for a while without me even knowing what exactly our mission was.We eventually stopped, and then Jordan turned around to face us. "There is a serial killer here, he has been killing the creatures in this forest, he tried to burn the whole forest a few days ago also." He started and we waited patiently for him to finish up.
"The twist here is that, he was set loose in this forest on purpose, and I am meant to put him out within two hours and...."
"Twenty minutes now." Karima helped him out and he nodded at her, as a form of 'thank you.' "But why?" I raised a question. Why would a killer be set on the loose, on purpose at that. "It's what I get because someone stole my book and gave it to the person who read it." He replied sarcastically and I already got it."Oh...I apologize got that, but what to do now? How do we catch him?"
"He is right here in this forest and the major reason why I brought you here is because we would be needing your sensitive hearing and sight, not to act like some superhero."That hurt a bit but it was fine, I decided to let him off with it, not like I could do anything by the way.
"So, let's get to work." Jordan declared and then started walking away from where I was, I noticed Karima was doing the same too."What? Why are you guys staying back?" I was so confused and scared that something crazy was already happening.
"I need you to summon your energy from within, Mira. It can be sudden and explosive and that's why we are doing this. Don't be scared, just keep your eyes on me and trust me. Nothing will happen to you, I will make sure of that." He promised. My heart kept racing as the clock ticked closer to midnight. Soon it would be 12 AM, and if I didn’t shift this time, I’d be in serious trouble. It was that time of year again – the Blood Moon, when the lunar eclipse happens, and every werewolf around the world shifts. But I was terrified. I had never met my wolf, not even once, despite all these years.Sitting on the bed, I stared into the full-length mirror across from me. My hands gripped the sheets as a flood of thoughts filled my mind. What if I don’t shift again? What if it’s like last time? Will I be stuck like this forever? These thoughts weighed me down. We were reaching a breaking point, and I knew my mate would throw me out if I failed to shift. I was never really accepted as his wife or Luna, but I didn’t think I could bear it if that happened now.I knew I was just an Omega, but I prayed earnestly to the moon goddess."Please, just this once, let it happen. I want to have a child," I prayed. For me to shift and have a chi
At exactly midnight, the Seventh Heritage Pack's howls filled the air as people began shifting into their wolf forms. Even those who had never shifted before were transforming for the first time, but I was still standing there, human like.Tears welled up in my eyes as my hope slowly faded. I looked away from the wolves and turned my gaze to my mate. He sat in the place of honor with his parents, the former Alpha and Luna, alongside with the council of elders—the highest authorities in the pack.If I were the Luna, I would have been sitting beside Adrien. But Claire had specifically ordered that I sit among the regular pack members, though she did place me in the front row to give me some dignity.I noticed Adrien looking at me too, but I couldn’t tell if he felt sad for me or if he was just indifferent. As the night went on, I saw people pointing at me and whispering things that were clearly meant to mock me.The worst part was that my tears wouldn’t even fall. They were stuck in my
I spent a long time by the lake, just thinking. Now I understood why Madison had tried to stop me earlier. I felt cursed and confused. How could so much happen in a single day, and it wasn’t even noon yet?I loved and trusted Adrien so deeply that I didn’t see this coming. Maybe I saw the signs but chose to ignore them. It didn’t seem fair. Despite all the hate, rejection, and betrayal I had faced from his people, he still betrayed my love and trust.I cried by the lake, feeling as though I was going to die. My heart was aching so much that I wished I could just remove it. The pain inside me was weakening me on the outside.I lay on the grass, lost in thought until some guards arrived. I recognized them as Alpha Arthur's men—Adrien’s father, who was the Alpha King. Adrien was also an Alpha, serving under his father."The Alpha King wants to see you," one of them said. They weren’t in their usual uniforms but wore black suits, looking more like security guards. This kingdom and pack we
I scrunched my brows. "What are you talking about, mother? What is..going on here?""You can continue with the pretence the moment you are out of this pack, you shameless thief." Claire continued.I was still so confused. How did they come to the conclusion that I did that? Just how?The only claim was that I had been to the pack earlier that afternoon when Arthur summoned me and Claire, even though she was not there she said I must have taken the opportunity to reach her room and stole her jewelry. On top of that, I was accused of leaving the pack house immediately after stealing the items. What a story! It was all perfectly made up and I could not even defend myself. I looked at Adrien who was sitting on a sofa in the living room. We had an unsettled issue but I had to swallow my pride and ask him for help, communicating with non-verbal cues.My husband looked away, leaving me surprised. He was supposed to be the only person who could vouch for me over anything, being the closest.
I could not believe my eyes and ears. This was my own husband proposing to me divorce papers without remorse or emotions in his eyes, like I had never meant anything to him. 'Please, don't do this.' I felt the urge to say that but I could not. My pride muttered to me a lot and it overwhelmed me. I just sneered and dragged the suitcase with me out of the house, with no destination in mind. The moment I stepped out of the house, I was hit with the dark clouds in the sky. It was about to rain and I had no destination in mind. All of a sudden, I heard someone call me. "My lady!" I turned around immediately to see Madison at the door. I started feeling some liquids drop on me and within the twinkle of an eye, rain started pouring down quite heavily. Madison got into the rain and it was then I noticed the big bag she was carrying. "I packed the few things I could pack quickly, my lady. I will come with you." She said and I furrowed my brows, frowning at the same time. It just did not
All I saw were huge hotels and obviously, it would cost a fortune to just spend a night there. Why were things like these in the outside world? Before now, you could easily see three local motels in a street but I barely saw any.I kept on walking in further and then I glanced at the watch Adrien had gotten me for my birthday. It was already past 9 PM and I was still searching for a motel. I knew how unsafe it could be at this time of the day, since I had an experience of sneaking out of my father's pack last at night to parties.I spent so recklessly and all my credit cards got restrained by my parents. And I became stranded. REST INN. Was the inscription that boldly indicated a motel at the top of a one storey building. "Finally."I heave a sign of relief as I made my way into the motel. I was met with colored red lights at every angle which gave a shady vibe that didn't go well with my instincts. It was an indication that this place was a red flag but what can I do at this poi
I did not enjoy a bit of the night, I stayed awake half of the whole night anyways. Being disturbed by mosquitoes, cold and then the troubling memories and traumatic years with Adrien and his merciless family. It would have been much better if I had gotten rejected the very first time, then running away from my father's pack would not have happened. Adrien as an alpha showed so much interest in me and stupid me fell in love with him, having not been loved by any man because I was an incomplete werewolf. I was human and not yet a wolf so no alpha could get married to me. As soon as it was 6 AM, I got up from the floor and packed my stuff. It cost me a whole lot to ignore the stains in the bathroom and just have my bath. Heavens knew how much I wanted to get out of there so fast. I tried switching the running water to hot then I realized the faucet was bad. What to do? I was already undressed and was ready to take my bath, going outside was a no no. Despite the chilly weather that
The words he said to me were just stuck in my head. Business... business...business. It seemed like that was what really mattered to me then. I took the card out of the place where he had dropped it and read his details on it. It was not a business card but a complimentary one, his personal card. Travis Coles. That was his name. It was almost noon when I finally decided to rest, sitting on one of the street benches made of cement. There were some other younger and older folks sitting there but there was an empty bench so I decided to sit, not minding anyone's concerns.I dipped my hand into the black bag and brought out a packet of Irish potato chips Madison had put in the bag. Without minding the public attention, I started munching on it, still maintaining my composure in some way too. Damn...I was so hungry but preparing cereal right there would definitely not look so good. While I ate, I decided to put a call through to Travis Coles. I was not so expectant but in a little bit,
