But how was that even possible? The cologne I had perceived when I entered my apartment was that of Jordan and this guy's own did not smell anything like it. To some extent, I was quite sure that Jordan had brought that book there.
And now, it seemed like he knew who Jordan was and judging from his impulsive reaction, he was not on good terms with him.
"You know who Jordan is?"
"I said not to mention his name!" He snapped again not even wanting to hear the word at all.
"Okay, fine. But what do you know about him? And how did this book come about? How much do you know about me? And what do you want from me?"
"A question at a time, young lady." He cooed and I frowned.
"You will not call me that."
"Whatever. Every answer you get comes at a price."
The moment he said that, I remembered Jordan saying the same thing to me, in Italian. What really was with this give and take principle?
"Okay, fine! What do you want?" I did not even hide my desertions to know anything and I had this feeling that he knew more.
"Your thousand mile sight."
Something gripped my heart immediately. "No, you can't take that." I objected and he smiled.
"Not all at once. You are the one to ask questions, so with each question you ask, I get to take a hundred miles of sight from you."
"One hundred? That's not fair." I whined and he shrugged his shoulders. "I am not forcing you to do it." He concluded.
Immediately, I contemplated and then decided to go for it, I would ask nothing more than two questions, to save eight hundred miles of sight, at least.
"Okay, deal." I said and a smirk appeared on his lips. Within a flash moment, something like a scroll appeared in his hand.
Then I saw green, shiny rope tie it up by itself, then the scroll disappeared. "We now have a deal." He declared.
Somewhere in me, I knew what I was doing was not so right, of course it felt off and I knew he was just being selfish. But what could I do? Nothing.
"So, let's have it." He urged.
"Who is Jordan to you?" I asked, not minding the fact that he had told me not to mention his name to him. I could see that he wanted to restrict himself from answering that question but he eventually did, with a frown on his face.
"That asshole? He is my brother, gosh I hate to say this."
I was taken aback by that information. They were brothers yet he was acting in this matter, indeed something had to be wrong with them both.
But then, Jordan had a brother? That was not even anywhere on the Internet, otherwise I would have seen it there.
"So what--" I was about to ask another question when he cut me off. "Hey hey, easy. You are yet to fulfill your own part of the deal." He called my attention and I frowned, feeling so impatient. "How am I supposed to give it to you?"
"Just stay still." He instructed and I obeyed, reluctantly. From where he was, he made sure there was an eyes contact with me then his eyes turned green and then his lips moved again. I did not need anyone to tell he just chanted a spell inaudibly.
The moment he did that, I felt a sharp pain in my head, down to my eye area, forcing my eyes close. It was so sharp and then it stopped all of a sudden, I tried opening my eyes and for a second, I could only see blurrily. The next second, I could see properly again.
'Hundred miles gone.' This re-echoed in my head.
I looked up at this guy whose name I did not even know and he was just standing there, looking at me. "How do you even do that?"
"You want another hundred miles gone?" He raised his brows and I immediately shouted. "No! Don't, please."
Ah, I would have lost another hundred miles there. "Okay, next question?"
I thought about it. I planned to ask just two questions but there were so many on my mind and I did not know which to prioritize.
"Okay...Karima and Jordan, what's their relationship?" I asked, hoping that would be the last one I would ask him.
"You are very wise. Hm...Karima, the old servant lady..." His voice trailed off and I wondered, 'servant lady?'. He was referring to one of the best team leads at Greenville Resort.
"Wait, you don't know who she is to you?" He seemed surprised and I shook my head gently. "No, I don't."
"Wow. I am surprised about how good she is with concealing her identity, or is it just you that did not catch up so quickly?"
"What are you talking about?" My head was literally getting hotter at that point so I had to speak up for myself.
"Karima is your bond maidservant, she was divinely granted you alongside her sister to serve you personally, by the moon goddess."
I placed a palm on my forehead and sat on the bed, trying to coo myself.
"I need some water."
"Will get some for you." He offered but I frowned, raising my head.
"No, thank you!" I snapped.
"O...kay."
"So what's her relationship with him?" I inquired.
"That makes another two hundred mile sight." He informed and I nodded, no longer minding any sight or something.
"It is very simple. Jordan is a lord, and she is...a servant. I know no more than that." He replied and I furrowed my brows, not believing my ears.
"You are not serious right now, are you?"
"I am not joking."
"What the heck! Are you crazy? How dare you give me such a flimsy answer at the cost of my precious sight?!" I burned with anger and I felt something strange wrought within me. I was truly annoyed but there was a fueling to it, and I had that feeling that if I continued being angry, I would do something crazy.
"You asked for--" he was abruptly cut off by a strange noise that also caught my attention. It stopped and then I perceived that sweet smelling cologne.
Jordan was here.
"How dare you?!" Jordan roared, He had appeared in the room all of a sudden. "And how dare you come into my territory?" This guy also replied, his face darkening the moment he saw him. I could really perceive some sort of strife from Jordan's brother."You have something of my own, Judah." Jordan responded, in a calm manner. Oh, so this green eyed dude was Judah by name? "It's not here so get the hell out!!!" Judah yelled at him.I started to feel some headaches and I just had to chip in. "Guys! You are shouting, I am here please." There was some quietness for a while, the Judah started again. His eyes were gradually turning green and from the little time I had spent with him, I could tell that that happened whenever he was about to probably cast spells or maybe he was angry.I knew something good would not come out of them being together within the same room but I could not think properly to do something before it gets out of hand."You came into my own space and stole my posses
"And what the hell were you doing around Judah? Huh? Why would you give up your abilities for some meagre information?" Jordan started to scold me the moment we landed. He really choked my thoughts then I could not think so fast so I could reply to him. I opened my mouth to speak and all that could come out of it was, 'I am sorry'. I rather said apologizing."I said stop being sorry!" He asserted firmly. "I blame him instead, but you could have easily sensed he was using you." He pointed that out. It was very funny how I saw what he was doing clearly but just decided to ignore it.Nevertheless, I was ready to take the blame and I was doing that out of fear, Jordan was actually very scary. And I could not still get why he was so mad when it was me involved.I sat down on the couch in my living room and that book, was still on the table there. He just stood, staring at it but doing nothing. I reached out for the book and then stood up and walked up to him."It's yours. I am sorry I re
The look on Karima's face was an indelible one, one I would never forget. "What did you just say, Mira?" She raised her brows. I nodded reassuringly, "Yes, but it was nothing. Dude just had a few questions to ask me and then.." my voice trailed off.I could sense how badly she wanted to leave what she was doing and come over to me, but then I had gotten what I wanted. The look on her face said a lot already, that she knew who Judah was and the kind of person he was."But...I hope you are okay, you are not hurt anywhere?" She inquired and then I smiled broadly. "I am fine, Karima."The reaction said that there was trouble lurking somewhere and as it was, it was a matter of urgency. There were so many confirmations to her true identity. Any normal person would have asked me to go to the cops to file a suit against whoever kidnapped me but she was not doing any of that.A few minutes later, she called me to the kitchen counter to eat. We were both silent throughout and on my part, I j
"You will not defy me, Kierra!" A woman with strange white hair yelled at me and I shivered, nevertheless, I still felt Stony somewhere in my heart. She was dressed in a cream-gold regalia, with a jade hairpin holding her hair up. "I will do what I want, mother. It's not fair on them all." I responded to her. "What do you know, child? Don't meddle in this." Her tone became quite softer. "Mother, they are good people, I promise, and they need me. I can't stand the sight of those innocent people being slaughtered because of me.""They deserve it!" She yelled again angrily and her eyes glowed like flames of fire, so brightly. She exuded so much energy that each time she raised her voice to yell at me, I would feel almost blown away. Compared to her, I was very little in terms of abilities and aura. "Lady Kierra, please..." I heard a different voice pleased so gently and turning to the direction where it came from, I saw that it was Madison."Stay out of it, Maddie." I grunted. "You
My heart kept racing as the clock ticked closer to midnight. Soon it would be 12 AM, and if I didn’t shift this time, I’d be in serious trouble. It was that time of year again – the Blood Moon, when the lunar eclipse happens, and every werewolf around the world shifts. But I was terrified. I had never met my wolf, not even once, despite all these years.Sitting on the bed, I stared into the full-length mirror across from me. My hands gripped the sheets as a flood of thoughts filled my mind. What if I don’t shift again? What if it’s like last time? Will I be stuck like this forever? These thoughts weighed me down. We were reaching a breaking point, and I knew my mate would throw me out if I failed to shift. I was never really accepted as his wife or Luna, but I didn’t think I could bear it if that happened now.I knew I was just an Omega, but I prayed earnestly to the moon goddess."Please, just this once, let it happen. I want to have a child," I prayed. For me to shift and have a chi
At exactly midnight, the Seventh Heritage Pack's howls filled the air as people began shifting into their wolf forms. Even those who had never shifted before were transforming for the first time, but I was still standing there, human like.Tears welled up in my eyes as my hope slowly faded. I looked away from the wolves and turned my gaze to my mate. He sat in the place of honor with his parents, the former Alpha and Luna, alongside with the council of elders—the highest authorities in the pack.If I were the Luna, I would have been sitting beside Adrien. But Claire had specifically ordered that I sit among the regular pack members, though she did place me in the front row to give me some dignity.I noticed Adrien looking at me too, but I couldn’t tell if he felt sad for me or if he was just indifferent. As the night went on, I saw people pointing at me and whispering things that were clearly meant to mock me.The worst part was that my tears wouldn’t even fall. They were stuck in my
I spent a long time by the lake, just thinking. Now I understood why Madison had tried to stop me earlier. I felt cursed and confused. How could so much happen in a single day, and it wasn’t even noon yet?I loved and trusted Adrien so deeply that I didn’t see this coming. Maybe I saw the signs but chose to ignore them. It didn’t seem fair. Despite all the hate, rejection, and betrayal I had faced from his people, he still betrayed my love and trust.I cried by the lake, feeling as though I was going to die. My heart was aching so much that I wished I could just remove it. The pain inside me was weakening me on the outside.I lay on the grass, lost in thought until some guards arrived. I recognized them as Alpha Arthur's men—Adrien’s father, who was the Alpha King. Adrien was also an Alpha, serving under his father."The Alpha King wants to see you," one of them said. They weren’t in their usual uniforms but wore black suits, looking more like security guards. This kingdom and pack we
I scrunched my brows. "What are you talking about, mother? What is..going on here?""You can continue with the pretence the moment you are out of this pack, you shameless thief." Claire continued.I was still so confused. How did they come to the conclusion that I did that? Just how?The only claim was that I had been to the pack earlier that afternoon when Arthur summoned me and Claire, even though she was not there she said I must have taken the opportunity to reach her room and stole her jewelry. On top of that, I was accused of leaving the pack house immediately after stealing the items. What a story! It was all perfectly made up and I could not even defend myself. I looked at Adrien who was sitting on a sofa in the living room. We had an unsettled issue but I had to swallow my pride and ask him for help, communicating with non-verbal cues.My husband looked away, leaving me surprised. He was supposed to be the only person who could vouch for me over anything, being the closest.
