Synopsis

My beloved perished in my hands; driven by love, power, dominance, and hatred, I rose to become the Alpha Queen of the Darkwood Pack. Three hundred years later, because of my descendant's folly, I was rebirth. She was everything I was not: easily manipulated, abused by her chosen mate, and ultimately met her demise at his hands. The Moon Goddess seemed unwilling to let me rest. I must prevent my descendant’s tragedy to protect my territory! I am the Alpha Queen of the past, and I shall scorch all who oppose me. Oh, did I mention I was reborn in my descendant's body? As I fought to reclaim my territories, my beloved I lost three centuries ago reappeared, seeking to claim me once more—but that can never be... He is my greatest enemy, yet the one I loved with all my soul. He is the Lycan my pack despised. He is the mate I must reject, no matter how much it shatters me…

CHAPTER 1: Heir to Despair

"Any last words?" Nameria asked Valen.

Her voice was already trembling with grief. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she held the poisoned silver sword against the neck of the one she loved most—her fated mate. Her love, her soul… But their years of secret love had led them to this bitter end.

"I did what I had to, Nameria! Your father poisoned mine last year, and as a prince, I must avenge him!" Valen spat through gritted teeth.

"And I was the one you chose to use? How long will we keep killing each other?" Nameria's voice wavered with sorrow, but she knew she had to do what was right, even if it shattered her heart. The Nameria who had loved Valen deeply had already died when he admitted to using her.

The lycans and her pack will never be friends.

"This ends now! Kill me!" His golden eyes blazed with desperation. She knew he was fighting the same urge to give in.

Valen was supposed to be stronger than her as a lycan prince. Yet here she stood, with the power to end it all—the one holding the sword that would take the life of her beloved.

"Ahhhhh!" With a cry of anguish, Nameria plunged the poisoned sword into Valen's chest. Lucy, her wolf, groaned within her, feeling the same pain that Valen did.

Nameria screamed in agony, but she fought through it. Darkness began to consume her.

"Nameria!" Logan, the beta, called out, and everything faded to black.

[Three Centuries Later]

Keira

Through a haze of pain, I struggled to focus my blurry vision. Hot tears streamed down my face, but they offered no relief.

My efforts were futile—I couldn't sense my wolf, Amara. I was too weak. The rough bark pressed into my back, and coarse ropes bound my wrists to the old oak.

"You poisoned me!" I spat, my voice hoarse and filled with venom.

The toxic wolfsbane was spreading through my body, causing pain in every nerve. My body shook uncontrollably, with my muscles spasming as the poison took effect. I glared at Selene with pure disgust. She was Ronan's destined mate, the she-wolf he brought to our pack four years ago, changing everything I thought I knew about my future.

Ronan is my alpha, and I was meant to rule beside him as his luna. But that title, once a source of pride, now felt like a cruel joke, and I was certain that I loathed the day I agreed to be his chosen mate.

As the daughter of the late alpha of the Darkwood pack, I had been raised with certain expectations. When my father brokered a truce with the rival Nightclaw pack, I became a pawn in the political maneuverings. "Marry their beta's son," he had said. I never imagined it would be the beginning of my nightmare.

Even as pain wracked my body, I saw Selene's smug smile. "Poor Luna! Aren't you ashamed of your ancestor, Queen Nameria?"

A sob escaped me, not from pain but from overwhelming disappointment in myself. I, the last descendant of the great Queen Nameria, had ruined her legacy.

Nameria is the only alphaqueen ever known in werewolf history. She was a powerful and clever she-wolf who avenged her father's death and ruled the world.

History tells of how she killed the lycan prince and began her conquest, taking one pack after another. The lycans were her slaves for years until her death.

The pack elders said I looked just like Nameria and felt her strong spirit in me. They predicted I would rise to power and lead a new era of wolf dominance.

What a cruel joke!

I am the last descendant of Nameria! She had ruled alone, without mate or alpha, the strongest she-wolf in history.

"Any last words?" Selene asked, her eyes sparkled with malice as she looked at the two rogues beside her, their faces lit by the flickering torches.

"If only I could turn back time!" I sobbed. The memories of the past nine years flashed before my eyes, a parade of mistakes and regrets. "I'd never have agreed to the pack union between the Nightclaw and Darkwood packs nine years ago! I despise the day I met Ronan at the lake!"

My voice grew more frantic as I continued, "I despise the day I started believing him! I despise the day he came into my pack and asked me to be his chosen mate!"

Each word was a dagger to my heart, a reminder of my naivety and misplaced trust.

Tears streamed down my face, mingling with the sweat from the fever induced by the wolfsbane. It was mortifying to think that I am the reason why Queen Nameria's legacy has been lost! After nine years of following Ronan, I'm now confronting my final moments!

Selene's laughter cut through my anguish. "You're truly losing it, Keira. Your tears and regrets won't change a thing. Your fate is in my hands, and I'm the one who will end it."

With a casual flick of her wrist, Selene signaled to the rogues. Time seemed to slow as they hurled their torches towards the base of the tree where I stood bound. The dry undergrowth caught immediately, flames licking upwards with frightening speed.

"Ahhhh!" The initial sensation of the fire was numbed by the poison coursing through my veins. I tried to hold on, determined to face my end with whatever dignity I could muster.

As the flames creaked up, searing my skin, I whispered, "Moon goddess, I call upon you! I never asked for anything before… I am responsible for everything that's happened to the Darkwood pack. It's my fault…"

Tears evaporated almost instantly as they fell. The inferno roared around me, devouring everything in its path. Through the swirling flames, I glimpsed Selene's smug face, reveling in my suffering with sickening satisfaction.

With my last breath, I made one final, desperate plea: "I wish I could go back to the day when all these mistakes were made!"

But I knew it was a futile wish. The intense heat burned my skin, and smoke filled my lungs. My vision blurred, and everything around me was just a swirl of red and orange. As I lost consciousness, my final thought was of Nameria and how deeply I had failed to honor her legacy…

***

Groans escaped me as I dragged myself out of bed, wincing as a sliver of sunlight pierced through a gap in the curtains and seared my skin. The sudden brightness drove a spike of pain into my skull, causing me to collapse from the mattress to the floor with a soft thud.

As my vision cleared, confusion set in. Nothing about this room looked familiar.

"Lucy!" I called for my wolf, but there was no response.

Suddenly, the door burst open. I looked up, bewildered, at the she-wolf who had entered. Fragments of past events and recognition started to surface in my mind, but a pounding headache quickly overshadowed them.

"Damn it!" I cursed, clutching the bed sheet tightly.

"Sis, are you alright?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. The name Freya surfaced in my foggy mind. That's right, she was Freya!

I barked out an order. "Call Xena! I need this headache to end. Now!"

The name came automatically to my lips—Xena, my trusted gamma.

Freya's expression shifted to one of confusion as if I'd grown a third head.

"Happy birthday, Keira!" She thrust a small, neatly wrapped box towards me.

"W-who is Keira?!" I stammered, struggling to piece together fragmented memories through the fog of pain. The headache was unbearable.

Freya's initial concern gave way to a chuckle. "Oh, I see. This must be a prank!"

"What do you mean? What is a prank?" I snapped, my voice rising. "Is this how you treat your queen?!"

CHAPTER 2: Torn Allegiances
"Father will definitely summon you later," Freya said. She is two years younger than Keira. Her death felt like a scene from a tragic movie replaying in my mind. Four years from now, Ronan allowed this sister to marry into another pack, which ultimately led to her death. I must have looked pale, for Freya's brow furrowed with worry. "Are you alright?" She reached into her pocket and pulled out a sleek, square device. Freya tapped the glass screen, lighting it up, and spoke into it, "Vivian, bring some medicine for Keira. She's looking unwell." "Right away, Freya!" The device responded, causing me to jump back in shock. "It—it talks!" I exclaimed in horror. "What kind of sorcery is this?!" Freya's frown deepened. "It's not the device talking, Keira. It's Vivian, our pack healer. She's speaking through the phone. Stop messing around!" For shifters, experiencing headaches during form changes is a common occurrence, and healers are well-versed in the remedies for such ailments. S

CHAPTER 3: The Lie Begins
"The Lycan King?" someone whispered in awe. "Impossible!" another voice cried out. The pack members present at the meeting couldn't believe me, and I understood their reaction—it was a bold claim, after all. What I needed now was time, a way to stall and gather my thoughts. Ronan's Alpha and my father hesitated to complicate things with the lycans, regardless of whether they believed me. The truth was secondary to the risk involved. "Come on, Alpha Heron," Ronan said. He turned to face my father, his broad shoulders tense. "Keira and I have waited for three years. You know how much your daughter loves me, how devoted she's been. She's just talking nonsense. Sooner or later, she'll come to her senses and admit she was wrong…" Ronan shifted his gaze to me. "Keira, I've already told you—I'm focusing on you from now on," he insisted, unwilling to back down. Alpha Heron frowned, understanding the implications of Ronan's words. Keira had cried to him countless times, saying she would

CHAPTER 4: Hidden Sanctuary
"You've got a lot to say, Keira!" the redhead spat, rising to her feet. "What now? Think you're invincible just because the elders claim Queen Nameria's spirit lingers in you?" "That's right! And look at you—still a trainee at twenty-one! You can’t even make it as a pack warrior!" “You are lucky because Alpha Heron doted on you too much!” another voice sneered. I narrowed my eyes, my claws itching to pull out my silver knife and silence them for good. One swift strike, and their irritating voices would be nothing but a memory. “Keira, no!” I heard Freya’s voice urgently through the mind link. She was still sitting on the grass, her attempt to maintain control evident in her strained expression. She’s right! I knew better! In this era of relative peace between packs, killing pack members would only lead to accusations of murder, and even Alpha Heron wouldn't be able to protect me from facing the families of these three fools. I had to restrain myself, no matter how satisfying let

CHAPTER 5: Hidden Sanctuary 2
"Speak!" His grip on my neck tightened even more. Droplets of water ran from his hair down his muscular chest. The smell of pine and musk was strong as his intense golden eyes locked onto mine, searching. No, this isn't Valen! Valen died at Nameria's hands. But the resemblance... he must be a descendant. I acted like the terrified, helpless Keira I was supposed to be. Tears filled my eyes, making everything blurry as I gasped for breath. “It… it hurts…” A harsh cough came from my throat, and mercifully, his grip loosened a little. His gaze raked downward, lingering on my exposed chest. A cruel smirk twisted his lips as he abruptly released me, leaving angry red marks where his fingers had been. "How did you manage to get in here?" he demanded. My mind raced. I needed a convincing lie. “I… I’m the Lycan King’s mate! He allowed me entry to this place.” His eyes narrowed dangerously. “Oh, is that so?” "Yes! You can bring me to your King and ask him yourself if you don't believe m

CHAPTER 6: Scum’s Lament
In her previous life, Keira had caused a scene, demanding to know why Ronan was doing this to her. Her eyes blazed with fury as they locked onto the she-wolf Ronan was so eager to toy with, while her heart shattered as she looked back at Ronan. Keira punished Olivia after this incident, pushing Ronan further away in his frustration. But Olivia was no fool. She knew exactly what she was doing, expertly playing her cards to provoke Keira, stirring her jealousy just enough to earn sympathy and favor from the future alpha. But now, with me in control of Keira’s body, I approach the scene with calm amusement, raising an eyebrow and watching them all. Ronan, who looked at me expectantly, seemed relaxed, almost smug, as if he believed I was here to apologize for the trouble Keira had caused. He thought I’d come to grovel at his feet, to restore his reputation as the next alpha after embarrassing him in front of the elders. Not just him, but everyone in the room seemed to share that ass

CHAPTER 7: Desperate Measures
Early in the morning, my father asked for my presence in his office. I instinctively knew it was about the upcoming gathering in Lycan territory. Alpha Heron’s stern gaze met mine as I entered. He leaned back in his leather chair, fingers steepled beneath his chin. “Keira,” he began, “you’re well aware of our pack’s complicated history with the Lycans. While I’m relieved you’ve moved past your... infatuation with Ronan, I still can’t fathom what our pack can gain by accepting the Lycan King as your mate.” His eyes narrowed as he scanned my face for any signs of emotion. “You know how deep the distrust runs—especially with the elders fearing what the Lycan king might be planning. What if he’s using you as a pawn?” I forced a smile, trying hard to hide the whirlwind of emotions inside me. The truth was, I wasn’t sure if my father believed my rushed excuse for turning down Ronan. I had simply said the first thing that popped into my head when Valen’s name suddenly came to mind. I d

CHAPTER 8: Encounter with Rogues
My vision blurred as a familiar, harsh smell filled the air. It was the unmistakable scent of rogues—werewolves who had strayed from their pack and sanity. I felt the weight of three pairs of eyes on me: two men and one woman, all staring with a predatory intensity. The rogues’ appearances were haggard and wild. Their eyes were bloodshot, with dark, puffy circles beneath them, hinting at nights of restless wandering. The stench emanating from them was nauseating. “We heard you’re the Lycan King’s mate!” one of the men growled, his lips curling into a twisted grin that revealed yellowed fangs. How could they know about my connection to the Lycan King? Had they been following me? The idea made my skin crawl, and I suddenly felt vulnerable under the pale moonlight. “Attack her and bring her head to the Lycan King!” the other man shouted, his eyes shining with madness and cruel excitement. He was tense, muscles coiled and ready to spring at any moment. The woman stepped forward.

CHAPTER 9: The Mysterious Lycan
My heart raced, each beat echoing through me as if it might explode. The feeling was overwhelming, but I wanted to deny it, to make it stop. I can’t bear to experience the ache once again. “What if I negotiate with your body?” The Lycan’s deep, husky voice sent shivers down my spine. His finger, mere inches from my cheek, froze in mid-air. I watched as a cold, knowing smirk spread across his face, his eyes shining with a dangerous look. The question that had bothered me since I first saw him came to mind: Is he my mate? The absence of Amara or Lucy made me doubt, yet I resisted feeling the bond! I hate Valen for using me! I hate the Lycans! But a desperate need for survival pulsed strongly. So, my hatred extended even to myself! I pushed his hand away. “Sorry, but I don’t feel the bond.” The anger on my face may be evident as he furrows his brows in response. “Right!” he snapped, “and I don’t need a mate!” His words were nearly a growl, his expression twisting in offens

CHAPTER 10: The King’s Mate
All the Lycans in the grand hall were looking intently at the tall, imposing man as he was the last one questioned by the man in his forties, whom I thought was the Lycan King. Seeing this mysterious Lycan, Bryn's eyes sparkled with excitement, and her cheeks flushed, perhaps because he was so captivating that Bryn had momentarily forgotten her mistakes. "Kick her out, Vera!" Theron, the Lycan King, commanded the stern-faced woman who stood beside him, her long, straight black hair reaching down to her waist. "Understood, Alpha Theron," the woman replied, I should've known that the mysterious Lycan was none other than the Lycan King himself. The way he carried himself with such poise and authority, the way he had swiftly seized and killed the female rogue in the forest without uttering a word, and the way he gave commands so effortlessly—it all pointed to his true identity. "Y-you're the Lycan King?" Bryn stammered, her voice shaking with both awe and fear. Theron's lips curved
