I heard the sound of the infirmary door creaking open. Looking over, I spotted Alpha Xander entering with a tray filled with food. His expression lit up at the sight of me being awake. His smile sent a flutter through my chest.
“Morning, Aurora” he greeted me in a soothing tone, his voice resonating warmly. “How are you doing today?”
I tried to answer, but I hesitated. How was I feeling? “I… I think I'm feeling better,” I said.
Alpha Xander nodded, setting the tray down on a nearby table. “That's good to hear. Do you think you can sit up? You should try to eat something.”
I nodded and then started to carefully lift myself up. A sharp pain went through my side, making me flinch… Without a word, Alpha Xander was there, his strong hands gently supporting me. I tensed at first, the memory of Asher's cruel touch still fresh in my mind. But Alpha Xander's hands were different—warm, gentle, steadying. I allowed myself to lean into his support, just a little.
Once I was settled, Alpha Xander pulled up a chair and sat beside the bed. As I picked at the food — fresh fruit, warm bread, and some kind of herbal tea—he began to explain my recovery process.
“Your body is healing well,” he said, his hand occasionally brushing mine as he gestured. Each touch sent a spark through me, the mate bond humming contentedly. “But it will take time. You had some deep bruising and a couple of cracked ribs. Zara, our pack healer, says you should be fully recovered in a few weeks.”
I nodded, absorbing the information. A few weeks. It felt incredibly long. “Thanks,” I whispered, looking into Alpha Xander's eyes…
His smile was gentle, understanding. You don't need to thank me, Aurora. You're… You're my mate. “I don't see looking after you as a duty; it's something, to me, that I deeply value.”
Softly, touched by his words. Following a moment of silence, I drew in a breath and asked, “Do you think… Can I stand?”
Alpha Xander's eyebrows rose in surprise, but he nodded. If you feel up to it, we can certainly try.
With Alpha Xander's help, I carefully moved my legs to the edge of the bed. My bare feet touched the chilly wooden floor, causing me to shiver slightly. I inhaled deeply and forced myself to get up.
My legs are weak since they hadn't been active for a few days. I started to lose balance, but Alpha Xander quickly put his arm around my back to support me. “I got you,” he whispered softly, his breath feeling warm near my face.
We took a few steps around the room, my body leaning heavily on Alpha Xander. Even though I was weak, it felt really nice to stand and walk.
“Do you want to see the pack's house?” Alpha Xander asked. At my nod, he guided me slowly out of the infirmary and into the hallway.
The pack house was beautiful, all warm woods and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. As we walked, Alpha Xander pointed out different rooms: the communal living area, the library, the training rooms. They all looked impressive and lavish.
We went to the kitchen,it was big and spacious and I saw a woman glancing up from the cutting board where she was chopping vegetables. She welcomed us with a warm smile.
“Aurora!” she called out, drying her hands on a towel as she came closer. “It's wonderful to meet you at last!”
I remembered Beta Jaxon from my first day in the pack, and managed a small smile in return. “Nice to meet you, Selene,” I said gently.
Selene's eyes shone with warmth. “I'm happy you're feeling well now. I've been eagerly awaiting to see you.” Would you like to see your new room? I've filled the closet with some clothes that should fit you.
I blinked in surprise, looking from Selene to Alpha Xander. He nodded encouragingly. “That sounds… that would be nice,” I said.
With Selene's help, I went to a bedroom close to the medical room. The room was big and had good airflow, with a big bed and a lovely view of the forest.
“Why don't you try something on?” Selene suggested. “It might feel good to get out of those infirmary clothes.”
I nodded, selecting a soft sweater and a pair of leggings. With Selene's help, I changed, then turned to look in the full-length mirror on the closet door.
For a moment, I hardly recognized myself. The girl I saw in the mirror seemed to … changed. She is skinny and somewhat pale, yet her eyes now had a faint sparkle that wasn't noticeable before. Before I knew it, I was smiling.
A knock on the door broke my daydream. Alpha Xander stuck his head in. “I want you to meet someone,” he said.
I nodded and went to meet him. He held my hand, and we walked towards the garden.
In the garden behind the pack house, we met Zara, the pack healer.
“Aurora,” she said with a smile, “I'm glad to see you moving around again.”
“How are you feeling.” She asked!
“I am feeling much Better.” I said.
Zara nodded approvingly. “That's good to hear. Mind if I take a look at those ribs?”
I tensed slightly but nodded. Zara's touch was soft as she checked on me, her fingers moving gently over my ribs. “You're healing fast,” she said. “Just remember to take it easy. No strenuous activity for at least another week.”
As lunchtime approached, Selene suggested we eat in the pack house dining room. I hesitated, nervous about meeting more pack members, but both Selene and Zara assured me it would be fine.
The dining room was large and filled with round tables. As we entered, I felt curious gazes turn our way. I instinctively moved closer to Alpha Xander, who placed a reassuring hand on the small of my back.
We sat at a table with Selene and Zara, who kept up a steady stream of conversation. They shared stories about the pack—funny anecdotes about training mishaps, tales of full moon runs, inside jokes that made little sense to me but had them in stitches of laughter.
To my surprise, I found myself laughing along with them. It felt foreign, almost wrong after everything that had happened. But it also felt… good. Like maybe, just maybe, I could belong here.
After lunch, Selene asked if I wanted to help prepare dinner. I agreed, grateful for something to do. In the kitchen, she set me to chopping vegetables while she worked on marinating meat for the grill.
As we worked, Selene chatted easily about life in the Blackstone Pack. I found myself relaxing, asking questions and even sharing a bit about my own past—the good parts, at least.
When Alpha Xander returned from patrol late in the afternoon, he found us still in the kitchen. His eyes softened when he saw me, and a smile started to form at the edges of his lips. “It seems you're getting comfortable here,” he remarked, speaking in a friendly tone.
I nodded, suddenly shy. “Selene's been very kind,” I said.
At dinner, I sat next to Alpha Xander, our shoulders touching. The contact sent a warm tingle through me, the mate bond humming contentedly. I remained silent and unsure, but I didn't feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar faces anymore.
After eating, Selene proposed a stroll under the moonlight. Zara joined us, and soon we were strolling through the pack grounds, the cool night air refreshing after the warmth of the pack house.
As we walked, I found myself opening up more. The words came haltingly at first, then in a rush as I told them about my past—about Asher, about the rejection, about the fear and pain that had driven me to run.
Tears flowed as I spoke, but Selene and Zara didn't shy away. They listened to me and spoke kindly to lift my spirits, above all, they trusted me. It had been a long while since I felt like someone truly got me.
As we headed back to the group's place, I saw my mate and his Beta chatting by the trees. They seemed serious and worried. I walked slower, trying to hear what they were discussing.
“…border breach in the north quadrant,” Beta Jaxon was saying, his voice low and urgent.
Alpha Xander nodded, his jaw clenched. “Increase patrols along all borders,” he ordered. And keep an eye out for any rogue wolves. We need to be cautious.
The conversation I'd overheard between Alpha Xander and Beta Jaxon echoed in my mind. Border breaches. Rogue wolves. Was I bringing danger to this pack that had shown me nothing but kindness? As the early morning light started to shine through my window, I hugged my blanket closer, feeling uncertain thoughts fill my head. How could I possibly be the Luna this pack needed? I was broken, cast aside by my former pack. What if I am not good enough?A sudden knock at my door interrupted me. “Aurora?” Alpha Xander's deep voice called softly. “Can I come in?”I hesitated before responding, “Yes, come in.”Alpha Xander entered, he was worried with concern as he took in my huddled form. “Aurora, what's the matter?” he inquired, moving to sit beside me on the bed.I couldn't meet his gaze as I quietly admitted, “I'm not sure if I can manage this, Xander. To be your Luna. What if I don't measure up?”He extended his hand and clasped mine, a gesture that felt comforting and warm. “Aurora, please
I stood my ground as Lyra moved closer, her eyes showing her ill intentions. I could feel my heart beating fast. But beneath the fear, a new strength was rising. I was the Luna of this pack, and I wouldn't let Lyra intimidate me.Just as Lyra opened her mouth to speak, a loud crash interrupted our standoff. Beta Jaxon burst into the room, his face etched with urgency.“Luna Aurora!” he called out, barely sparing a glance for Lyra. “Alpha Xander needs you at the border immediately.”Relief and concern flooded through me in equal measure. I gave Lyra one last steady look before turning to follow Beta Jaxon. Whatever was happening at the border, it had to be serious for Xander to send for me.As we raced through the pack grounds, Beta Jaxon filled me in. “A group of wolves appeared at our border, seeking sanctuary. They're in bad shape, Luna. Alpha Xander wants your input on whether to grant them refuge.”My first major decision as Luna. The thought made me feel anxious, but I tried to i
The chaos that broke out when the wolf transformed was more than anything I've witnessed before. Xander's strong leadership prevented the pack from becoming overly anxious as we tried to control the situation. With Zara's expertise, we managed to sedate the wolf, his unnaturally red eyes finally closing as the sedative took effect.“Take him to the dungeon,” Xander ordered, his voice grim. “We'll question him when he wakes.”As the unconscious wolf was carried away, Xander turned to me, his eyes filled with concern. “Aurora, are you alright?”I nodded, though my heart was still racing. “I'm fine. But Xander, what was that? I've never seen a transformation like that before.”He shook his head, looking worried. “I haven't either. But we'll figure this out.” His expression became gentle as he held my face. “For now, get some rest. We'll handle this tomorrow.”I couldn't sleep that night because my mind kept thinking about the scary change over and over. When morning finally came, I was t
I couldn't stop thinking about my dream and the words I heard. “Prepare yourself, Aurora. Your destiny awaits.” What did it mean? And how did it connect to the strange abilities I'd discovered yesterday? Before I had time to think more about it, a gentle knock on my door broke my concentration. Selene peeked inside, her friendly smile a nice break from my troubling thoughts.“Good morning, Aurora,” she said cheerfully. “I hope I'm not disturbing you?”I shook my head and returned a small smile. What's up?Selene's eyes sparkled with excitement. “Well, Zara and I were thinking… How would you like to join us for a girls' night tonight? Just the three of us, some wine, good food, and lots of girl talk.”I hesitated. The offer was really appealing, but I still felt a bit cautious about fully trusting them. Selene seemed to pick up on my hesitation and said, “It would be really important to us if you joined. We'd enjoy the opportunity to become better friends with you.”Before I could say
I inhaled deeply and knocked on Xander's office door. We were close, but I still felt a bit nervous every time I saw him.“Come in, Aurora,” his deep voice boomed. He was bent over the desk, his forehead creased, looking at some paper. The sight of him so focused made my heart jump, but I just tried to ignore the feeling.“You wanted to see me,” I asked.Xander looked up, his intense gaze softening as it met mine. “Yes, please sit down. We need to discuss this message from the High Alpha Council.”I settled into the chair across from him, curiosity piqued. “The High Alpha Council?”He nodded, “There is so much you don't know, Aurora. The Council is the highest governing body in werewolf society. They oversee all packs, mediate disputes between alphas, and make decisions that affect our entire species.”As Xander explained the intricate political structure of our world, I found myself fascinated. It was so much more complex than I'd ever imagined during my time in the Clearwater Pack.
We quickly traveled through the woods. I could sense the worry coming from our pack, their eyes moving around fearfully as we got closer to Silver Creek's land. Xander walked next to me, and his being there was a reassuring presence in the mess of my thoughts. When we were close to the edge of Silver Creek, I had a strange feeling… something was not right. I couldn't exactly explain it, but my gut was telling me that there was a problem. I looked at Xander, wondering if he had the same feeling.“Xander,” I whispered, not wanting to alarm the others, “something's not right here.”He nodded, his jaw tight. “I feel it too. Stay alert.”We crossed into Silver Creek territory, and the wrongness of the situation hit me like a physical blow. The forest was eerily quiet, devoid of the sounds of battle we'd expected. There were no signs of the reported rogue attack, no scents of fear or blood in the air.Xander raised his hand, signaling the pack to halt. “Split up and search the area,” he com
I opened my eyes and found myself in the infirmary. I looked around and saw Jaxon and Marcus. They were standing in the corner looking worried.“Glad to see you're awake,” Jaxon remarked, attempting to sound upbeat. However, as I tried to sit up, the room began to spin around. I had to lie back down again. “What happened?” I croaked, my throat dry. While I drank the water, they explained what happened after I passed out. The strange wolves ran away because of the energy I released, but the danger wasn't gone. The group was cautious now, with more guards and better protection.“We have never seen anything like it,” Jaxon said. “You saved us all, Aurora.”I nodded, understanding their words. “I have no idea how it happened. I am… I am scared,” I said, surprised by my feelings. To my surprise, they didn't laugh or ignore my fears. Instead, Marcus leaned forward, his eyes serious. “It's alright to feel afraid, Aurora, but keep in mind, you have our support.”Jaxon nodded in agreement. “We
I woke up and found Xander staring at me. His eyes were so soft and full of love that my heart fluttered. He smiled tenderly at me, and I smiled back.“Good morning, Luna,” he whispered softly, reaching over to push a lock of hair behind my face.“Luna?” I whispered softly. Xander nodded, his smile widening. “Today, you officially become the Luna of the Blackstone Pack. Are you ready?”A feeling of excitement and worry filled my heart. “I… I'm not certain,” I confessed. “Everything is moving quickly.”Xander's face softened. He put his arms around me in an encouraging embrace. “I know this is a lot to learn,” he said, his voice deep and soothing. “But you've already earned the pack's esteem and praise.” They support you, Aurora. We all do.His words calmed some of my worries, but I still had questions. Just as I was about to ask, a knock at the door stopped us. Xander called for them to enter, and Selene and Zara burst in, their arms laden with bags and boxes.“Time to get ready, Lun
The evening wind gently moved my hair as I stood on the balcony, with Kaia resting comfortably in my arms. Next to me, Xander held Kade, whose small hand was wrapped around his father's thumb. I felt a deep sense of contentment as I looked out over the serene, lovely Moonstone Hollow.“I can hardly believe it's been a year already,” I whispered, looking down into Kaia's sweet face.Xander shook his head, a soft smile playing at his lips. “It's gone by so fast,” he agreed, gently bouncing Kade as our son began to fuss. “But look at how much they've grown.”I nodded, remembering the busy year we've had. It feels like just yesterday, we brought the twins home from the hospital, both scared and excited. Now, at one-year-old, Kade and Kaia are already showing signs of their special background.Last week, Kade made all the flowers in our garden bloom at once when he laughed during a fun game of peek-a-boo. And Kaia, not wanting to be left out, made a beautiful light show during her bath, wi
Kade and Kaia's yelling woke me up from a dead sleep. I squinted my eyes open, letting them get used to the dim light peeking through the curtains before the sun was even up. Next to me, Xander moved slightly, his eyes meeting mine with a mix of tiredness and deep love. We exchanged a tired but happy smile, feeling the warmth of our new life as parents envelop us.“I got them,” Xander whispered, giving me a light kiss on the forehead and getting out of bed.“Good morning, little one,” he whispered, holding our son up against his chest. “Were you missing me?” I walked to Kaia and picked her up carefully from her crib. Her baby scent was amazing. I whispered, “Hi, sweetie,” and swayed her gently. Soon, she stopped crying and just whimpered quietly.Looking at her, I thought, “Wow, she's really ours.” It was hard to believe. Xander nodded, his eyes filled with emotion. “It's amazing. They're so perfect.”After the twins were fed and changed, Xander insisted on making breakfast while I r
I sat up, jolting wide awake, a sharp ache ripping through my middle. For a second, I lay there, wondering if this was another false alarm. Then another wave of pain hit, even stronger, and I knew. It was happening.“Xander,” I panted, waking my husband. “It's time.”Xander's eyes flew open in a mix of terror and excitement. He launched himself out of bed, scurrying around the room to get dressed and to retrieve our hospital bag.“Are you sure?” he asked in a somewhat shaky voice.I nodded, teeth gritted as another wave hit. “Positive.”It seemed as though the drive to the hospital happened instantly. Xander's hands were firm on the steering wheel, but I noticed the tension in his jaw, the fast, worried glances he cast my way. When we drew closer to the entrance of the hospital, I could see someone was waiting for us.Zara, our healer and midwife, beamed at us with a reassuring smile. “Right on time,” she said, helping me out of the car. “I've set up a special room for you, ready for
I woke up with a sigh, my very pregnant body making even getting out of bed difficult. As I tried to sit up, Xander was right there, his face showing worry.“Let me help you, Aurora,” he whispered, his soft hands supporting my back as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed.I smiled up at him gratefully, yet couldn't help but feel annoyed at my weakness. I was accustomed to being strong, able to tackle anything life threw at me. This feeling of needing help was new and not very pleasant. We sat down to breakfast, still in high spirits, but in my mind at least getting back to normal. Then an urgent message came in-something was happening, vampires and werewolves were battling it out. Duty screamed at me to rush there right away, while another part of me tried to say, “Wait,” the part of me conscious of a growing baby inside me.Xander saw my internal struggle. “Aurora, you don't have to go. Someone else can handle it.”I shook my head. “No, I should be there. I'm still the leader of
I woke up, suddenly feeling really sick. I rushed to the bathroom as fast as I could, Xander was quick to enter and hold my hair, rubbing my back.“Aurora, are you alright?” Xander asked in a very worried tone.I nodded very slowly. “I'm fine,” I whispered. “I must have eaten something bad.”But when I stood up and smelled Xander's cologne — which I usually liked — I felt sick again. I turned back to the toilet, feeling my stomach twist.Xander looked very concerned. “This isn't normal, Aurora. Maybe we should see the pack healer.”I wanted to argue, to insist I was fine, but the worry in Xander's eyes made me reconsider. “Okay,” I agreed. “We'll go after breakfast.”But breakfast was another challenge. As soon as I went into the kitchen, the smell of the coffee-one that usually is my favorite morning smell made me nauseous. I couldn't even finish a piece of dry toast before having to push my plate away.Xander watched me with more and more worry. “That's it,” he said strongly. “We're
A year has gone by since everything changed. And today is the day Xander and I renew our vows.I lay in bed for a moment, amazed by the peace that now filled Moonstone Hollow. The sounds of various supernatural beings going about their day drifted through the open window – a harmony I once thought impossible. My daydream was broken by the wonderful smell of fresh coffee and something sweet. I sat up and saw Xander coming into our room with a tray full of breakfast.“Good morning, beautiful,” Xander said, his eyes shining with love and a bit of fun. “I thought you might want to start this special day with some energy.”As we ate, we couldn't help but remember our journey. From the first time we met to the challenges we faced, and the life we've built together.“Remember when you first told me I was your mate?” I asked, laughing at the memory. “I thought you were crazy.”Xander chuckled, taking my hand. “And look at us now, about to renew our vows in front of the entire supernatural com
The early morning light barely peeked through my curtains when I woke up, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Today was special—it was my first day as a teacher at Moonstone Hollow's brand-new Academy for young supernatural beings. I, Aurora, the one who had brought peace to our world, was starting a new adventure: guiding the next generation. As I got ready, Xander's steady presence beside me was a comfort. He'd been up late helping me prepare a syllabus, a perfect blend of traditional supernatural knowledge and our new harmony-focused approach.“You can do it, Aurora,” Xander said, giving my hand a comforting squeeze. “If anyone can help these kids learn to get along, it's you.”I took a deep breath, feeling more confident because of his support. “Thanks, Xander. I just hope I can meet their expectations.”The walk to the Academy was not long, but with each step, I felt my responsibilities weighing heavier. The great building that now housed our special school took my breat
I woke up excited. Today my pack will be coming. “Time to gather the family,” I said quietly to myself as I added a touch of magic to each invitation. These weren't ordinary invitations; they were magical and would find their way to every member of my pack, no matter where they were.As I watched the invitations fly out the window like magical butterflies, I felt a mix of old memories and pride. A lot had changed, and now I could show them the amazing world we'd created here in Moonstone Hollow.Xander found me looking out the window, deep in thought. His warm hands on my shoulders brought me back to the moment.“Ready for the big day?” he asked, his eyes shining with excitement.I nodded, leaning into his hug. “More than ready. Let's make this a welcome they'll never forget.”The next few hours were a blur of activity. Xander and I rushed through town, working with everyone to prepare a huge feast. Supernatural beings of all kinds pitched in, their enthusiasm infectious. Werewolves
I woke up to the sound of laughter and happy talking coming through my open window. For a moment, I stayed still, enjoying the calm feeling that had become usual in Moonstone Hollow. It was very different from the worry and fear that had affected here a few weeks ago.As I walked outside, I saw all kinds of magical creatures working together, making our small place even better. Werewolves and fairies were side by side, building new houses. Witches and vampires were happily talking as they took care of a shared garden. It was everything I had wished for and even more.“Aurora!” Xander called, and I turned to see him running towards me with some papers under his arm. He looked really excited. “I have something to show you.”We went to the town hall, where Xander spread out the papers on a big table. It was a detailed infrastructure plan for Moonstone Hollow's expansion.“Look,” Xander said, pointing to different areas on the map. “We've designated spaces for each supernatural community.
