CHAPTER 44

The morning after my vision of Ryder's ritual, I found myself pacing in my room. Today was the day I'd formally introduce Aiden to the pack, and despite the looming threat of Ryder, I knew this couldn't be put off any longer. Aiden had to feel like he belonged with us if we were going to handle the challenges ahead as a team.

I inhaled deeply, straightening my shirt while I checked myself in the mirror. The young woman looking back appeared weary, anxious, yet resolute. I knew I had to succeed, not just for Aiden but for everyone in our pack.

Xander gently tapped on my door. “Are you prepared?” he inquired, his kind eyes catching mine in the mirror's reflection.

I agreed, facing him directly. “As prepared as I can be. How's Aiden doing?”

“Nervous,” Xander admitted. “But he's holding up. He understands how important this is.”
