I was boiling with rage. I have had it with this place and their barbaric actions and non acceptance. I slammed the door of my house shut and limped to my writing desk, I was going to give them a taste of what they deserve.Without hesitation I drew out the pen from the Inkwell and started writing.I wrote little things like Mrs. Rose the flower shop owner for all her flowers to die, for John the baker all his pastries to burn, Juliet the moodiest for all her laces and organza’s to be stolen… I was pouring out all my pent out anger and frustration on the little piece of paper on my desk. I was starting to write things a little too wicked and it was unlike me, this wasn’t who I was, the disappearance of Lucien has taken a greater tow on me than I realized. I laid my head on my table and sobbed silently.I haven’t known Lucian long enough to feel this much pain but I guess a lonely girl could easily get attached to anyone who seemed available.I was really hoping that this past couple o
After the weird looking doctor had left, Emma decided to take a nap. It was my fault that she sprained her ankle, but I have to admit it was fun watching her struggle in the dark although I did not expect it to turn out this way.I watched her sleep for a while. Her breathing was slow, steady and quiet. She looked so relaxed, like there was nothing to worry about. She turned as she slept and her relaxed face began to look trouble as she mumbled something. She was having a night mare. I crouched beside her on the chair and I put my right hand above her head and I chanted a dream seal on her.It wasn’t long before her face returned to it’s resting, worry less expression.I looked at her, she was beautiful. Everything about her was effortlessly perfect. Was it her hair? Nothing out of place even as she slept. Was it her voice? I’ve heard nothing more pleasant. Her eyes? A man could drown in them. Her lips, full and the perfect shape. Her body was perfect. She smelled so good, her scent
I blinked repeatedly before I finally opened my eyes. My head hurt real bad, it felt like there was a match pass going on in there. My entire body was aching and for a short moment I could not remember where I was. I don’t know how long I have been unconscious but I felt very weak.I started to remember everything that had happened before I passed out. The memory was still frightening but Lucian came and he saved me. Lucian, was he really there with me, was that just one of my dreams?I sat up on my bed in search of him. Just then he walked up to me.“You are finally awake. How are you doing, does your body hurt?”He asked in a hurry I could barely catch what he was saying.“Lucian”I tried saying but my throat was dry and it hurt in my attempt to speak and my voice cracked.“Hold on”He said then retreated to my bed side table and came back holding a glass of water. That wasn’t there before, he must have put it there in anticipation of me gaining consciousness. He handed the cup to
told him everything that had happened and I did not know what was actually wrong with me. Everything felt so real, I was so terrified I thought the monster would have had his way with me. I couldn’t even bear the thought of it anymore imagine he actually had his way with me. And you know what made it worse?, that I could still see the imprint of his hands on me. I looked at my right arm I could still see the faint purple finger print. I rub it lightly lighting and the felt like still on me“You just walked in on the right time. I could not even run away cause of my broken leg, I could not defend myself” I said looking down at my hands and the trembled. “Thank you for saving me Lucian”I look at him. I was feeling very grateful. I felt very safe in his company. “Sorry I wasn’t there earlier, sorry I even left I don’t know what was wrong with me”He said with remorse “It doesn’t matter, you were just in time”He looked at me for a while “Do you know the weirdest part?”I asked set
LUCIAN'S POV After Emma passed out I was filled with regrets and self blame blame. I could have stayed, why did I run?, was I too late?, would she be fine?, would things have turned out differently if I was here?I checked her pulse and her breathing to know if everything was fine. Fortunately everything was fine her pulse was normal and breathing steady and slow like someone asleep. I figured that she was just asleep. But when the minutes turned in to hours I began to worry again. What if she did not wake up what she stays like forever?I wondered how Emma coped and now I know sufferedA day past and it felt like eternity I had hopes that she would regain her consciousness. I tried calling her name, tapping her and even trying waking her up with the water method but none of it worked. This felt so unbearable. She looked pale and I only just noticed the mark on her upper arm like someone had gripped her, it must had been from her dream. She looks so distressed, the state I found her
Francis had just gotten here and he had taken off my case. My leg was even more swollen than before and now it was purple. He proceeded to carry out some minor check ups but the look on his face told me that the leg has not gotten better. Well I already knew that.“Try standing” He finally spoke.“I can not”I answered.“You would have to try anyways. I want to know how bad it is”“Pretty bad. We have tried this before”Lucian replied on my behalf.Francis looked up at him.“Well she would have to try it again for me to see and determine how bad it is”Lucian helped me up from the chair and when he let go I wobbled so I held on to the arm of the chair for support and leaned on it.“Let go of it and try standing on your own ““But she can’t”“I can’t”I repeated after Lucian.“Okay then judging from the looks of it, it is bad— did you do anything to strain it”He asked looking at me. Lucian and I exchanged glances which made Francis look at Lucian “I — I hit the leg again”I lied. I
"Nice to see you again Lucian”She said smiling. Claudine never really smiled, well not genuinely.“How did the eggs turn out”How did she know about them. What was going on here.“Scrambled”He answered and she laughed. Curse his good humor.“So, you aren’t here alone huh, two cups”“Oh yeah”“Who, a girlfriend”She asked teasing him.I was somewhat looking forward to hearing his reply but he just laughed. That was neither a no nor yes.“Where is the other?”“Oh over there”I quickly turned to the other side of wall. I did not want Claudine to know I knew him.I saw Claudine walk past me, she did not even notice I was there. It wasn’t long before I felt Lucian behind me. “Here, I got her highness a latte and myself a smoothie”“I don’t want it”I said and started walking. Lucian followed.“Oh, smoothie then?”“I want none”You asked for something to drink now you don’t want any?I ignored him and kept walking.“Okay then, I would just hold on to the latte Incase you change your min
I was here watching the sunset with the most beautiful lady I’ve seen. I looked at her with admiration while she watched the sun set.She looked mesmerized, the orange and red colours gave her this glow.“Beautiful”The words escaped my mouth with out me knowing. She turned and looked at me, she smiled and it was breath taking. She leaned on me and rested her head on my shoulder. We sat there watching the sun set slowly in a peaceful silence. “Emma”I called out her name in a whisper, maintaining the silence. She rose her head and looked at me. Her eyes shun. I looked down at her lips. Tempting. I looked away quickly. I don’t know what is wrong with me today. Is it the sunset?“Let us go to the masquerade party, you and I”That was not why I called her but I had to think something reasonable to say”She blinked and drew her head back.“Uhh, are we forgetting a little detail?”She asked.“What, I asked puzzled”“My leg”She said“I can’t dance around with these”She continued tapping
LUCIEN’S POV It’s been six hellish days in this damn place, and six days since Emma had broken through the damned obsidian curse. It had been two days since Emma had refused to see me.I had no idea why she would refuse to see me even though I had gone knocking on her door countless times, pleading and screaming to at least see her.But then she was just so stubborn, even Maximo, Marilyn, and Tanesha were in on it, always making sure I respected her decision.I felt like a fucking piece of shit; I spent hours under the sun training vehemently, learning new curses and spells that chewed out my insides, twisting and turning at my insides.Learning curses was not for the weak, and if I needed to fight with the obsidian order head-on, I needed to have a few counter curses up my sleeves. “You seem a bit distracted, Lucien. What’s wrong?” Tanesha called out breathlessly, her voice echoing through the vast space of lands as she trudged slowly towa
BRIAN’S POV The flight to pines field was one long exhausting trip, and Verity just didn’t know when exactly to shut The hell up. She was always rambling word after word that didn’t make perfect sense to my ears.If she wasn’t blabbering, she was singing songs that didn’t have any rhythm in her high-pitched voice, or worse, she was chewing loudly. One thing with half-blooded vermin was that they were always too happy, and they were the most dangerous, too dangerous. “Shut the hell up, verity,” Lilith sneered, her icy glare shutting Verity up immediately, making her recoil in her chair, a sheepish grin blooming across her face as she stared out the window.I was excited about this just for one main reason: I got to see Emma, and the thought of that seemed to elevate my mood to a great extent; I could not wait to take in a healthy dose of her lavender mist fragrance. “Are all plans set in motion with the hordes?” Lilith asked me carefully, her eyes fl
LUCIEN’S POV I woke up two days later, I could still feel the heaviness of my head resting heavily on my shoulders, the dark room heightening my fear and anger as I laid wide awake . The candle flickering aggressively in their stands as I peered dangerously into the fire. The house itself looked to be asleep and there was no way I could trust Tanesha after that Incident. I found her repulsing, even though she hadn’t exactly done anything for me to despise her this much, I wondered how she claimed to know too little. Her words confused the hell out of me.“Good to see that you are awake” Tanesha’s solemn voice called from beside me as she made her way to the foot of the bed, her night gown sweeping across the wooden floorboards that creaked silently at her movements.“I get it, I get that you wouldn’t want to speak to me after what happened the other day in the hallway, but then certain things just has to stay the way it is” she said with a sigh, a sudden sadness coating her eyes as
CHAPTER 81LUCIEN’S POV It was hard to watch Emma this way, what this obsidian curse was, I needed it to be fixed like yesterday. I could not even find a cure to the curse in any spell book or curse book, more like it didn’t even exist.“You guys are here already?” Tanesha called out cheerily, as her eyes squinted in glee. I suddenly felt Emma go rigid beside me, her breathing strained as she walked stoically to where Tanesha stood. “Oh hi Emma dear” She called out to Emma, a genuine smile spreading across her face as she took Emma in, the latter just muttered incoherent words in reply.“oh hi Tanesha” I greeted, ignoring the side look Emma threw my way, honestly I didn’t know what exactly she didn’t like about Tanesha. “Good to see you Lucien, well considering the fact that we met hours ago, and now we arIsn’t exactly meeting for all the right reasons,” she joked something in her eyes pulling me in towards her. Tanesha Tinsley was one dangerous woman. “Why don’t you give
EMMA’S POV “Lucien what the hell just happened” I yelled when we were in the safety of my house, the upturned tables and chair glaring as we stood with our mouths wide open.“I don’t know Emma, I think we should call the cops” Lucien said fearfully, his eyes searching the upturned room“Really, you want me to draw the cops into this, is this place even safe anymore?” I asked tiredly, all The excitement that had seeped into my bones earlier this morning just defeated like one big bubble “I wonder who could have done this?” Lucien muttered as he walked toward the drawer “ Where are you going Lucien, what are you even doing” I yelled in frustration, the look in his eyes turning cold as he answered “To check if the inkwell and the briefcase are safe, of course,” He whispered, the veins in his head popping angrily as he carefully made his way to the chest where the documents were kept. “What do you mean safe,
EMMA’S POV Aargh ! Where was Lucien when I needed him the most, my hands were aching with the goods I was holding, the colourful tents elevating my mood by a thousand folds.“Oh hey watch out” A familiar voice called out, his heady perfume wrapping round my throat with it’s familiarity.“Oh Emma it is you” Brian called out happily, his broad shoulders bunching up as he pulled me into his Embrace, his woody perfume tickling my nostrils as I smiled widely from ear to ear.“ It is so nice to see you Brian” I cried out cheerily, his glasses still sitting pretty on his face. He reminded me so much of Lucien. “Why don’t we you know take a seat here and catch up on good old times” He pestered, his hands grabbing the small of my back as he used his other hand to wrestle the bags from me.“It’s been a while, Emma,” Brian finally spoke when we were well seated on makeshift chairs under the sloshy tent, bubbles and children flying around the sky as they ran
LILITH’S POV “What the hell just happened?” Andrea seethe when we were in the car, the confused look sitting prettily on her face amusing. But she was right though, what the hell just happened with Tyrone?, i wondered what it was about Teyana that spooked, and Teyana she just sat mute staring outside the window. A blank look masking her face as she just sat rigid, it was difficult to tell if he was breathing or not.“The Mayor, we should be careful” Teyana finally muttered after a while, a certain emotion pooling in her ete as she stared at us.“Why in the world was his house covered with counter curses and protection spells?” Brian asked no one In particular his eyebrow scrunched up in frustration as he tugged at the buttons of his suit. The glasses on the bridge of his not tilting sideways “His wife Tanesha, she looks familiar and if she is what or rather whom I think she is, then so help us god” Teyana muttered, a certain glow emanating through
BRIAN’S POV “Why aren’t things going according to plan” Lilith whined, the frustration in her voice evident as she sat in the car, she and melody’s conversation ringing in my head. “Oh that damn little wrench “ Andrea snarled, her eyes shooting daggers at the hordes passing by.“Can we go now” Teyana muttered, her eyes casting a shadowy look in the SUV.I hated the stench of witches, they were two faced it was better to be a werewolf than a sneaky little witch.“Have you gone through their profiles?” Lilith asked me, the look in her eyes fierce as she dug her nails into her skin.“Uhm I am doing that, I replied peering over Verity’s employee, the sneaky thief and the half blooded vermin stared back at me with big doey eyes hidden behind a hideous glass.Half of me wanted to crush her in my large arms, she just got on my nerves.“Any news on the inkwell Brian?” Lilith asked, her hands rubbing tiredl
LUCIEN’S POV I was finally glad that the old geezer was finally out of the way. The lad looked like someone who never showed anyone loyalty and his pocket was likely going to be swayed if it benefitted him.I wasn’t surprised when he had called Emma a writer with a burnt up passion, it took everything in me not to tear across his little office in Finigan Street and tear him into pieces. The idiot acted like he was way better than everyone, always scrunching his nose in disgust anytime he drove into Emma’s driveway with his pink glistening Porsche. There was nothing ethical written about him, and surely i was going to pay both him and his fancy little car a visit soon enough.“ I am ready” Emma sang slowly, her gown hugging her curves tightly as she wrestled her boots on, the really short dress displaying her perfectly oiled legs.It took everything in me not to pin her across the wall, spread her legs wide opened while
