MATTIA
"So this is how I signed the deal!" I put down the paper containing my marriage contract with Harper Lacour.
Alessio was flabbergasted and stopped putting sugar into his coffee cup. "You what?"
"Like I said."
"Harper? That girl whose father you killed?"
"I don't think she knows that part! Technically the damn man died because he was old."
Alessio shook his head, not really agreeing with my decision. Alessio visited today to give news about the family business. There was a traitor who fled to this country, and my father gave orders to look for the traitor.
"You got married without telling your family. Do you think they will be happy with this?"
"You know, I have to protect Lucia!"
"Why? Is she still being targeted by them? So you think your marriage is the best to protect Lucia?"
Lucia, my ex-girlfriend. Our relationship was going well, but an incident made Lucia leave me. I don't know what love is; all I know is that Lucia always accompanies me whenever I'm in trouble, so up to this moment, I'm still thinking about it.
Lucia and I have been separated for a year. During that time, she was targeted by one of my competitors because they thought Lucia was my weakness, even though they didn't know that my relationship with Lucia had ended.
"I have to use Harper to replace Lucia. She must be their target; that way, Lucia's life will be safe!"
"I thought you fell in love at first sight with Harper; thank goodness you haven't changed!"
"Man, Harper is not my type; you know who I really want! Harper is just bait! But damn, she's pregnant now."
"What the hell?"
"She just got divorced and is pregnant!"
"Damn, this is going to be complicated! Sooner or later, the family will find out about your marriage, so make sure he doesn't bring problems into the family! If necessary, make her abort the baby."
Alessio sipped his coffee, turned on the TV, and looked for the latest news broadcast. I let go of my huft, then stepped towards my room. My eyes turned to the brown envelope, and I saw several wedding photos of Harper and me lying on top of the envelope.
Harper agreed to enter into a marriage contract with me just to protect her parents' property, but she didn't know that her life was also in danger because she was with me. She's so naive, fighting for her family?
"Hello, how about her?" I called my subordinate.
"She hasn't said anything, sir!"
"It's been a week; tell Harper to decide quickly!"
"Yes, Sir, but…"
"But what?"
"It looks like she will refuse your request; there is a bit of unrest in her family!"
I raised my eyebrows; I heard that Harper had lost her parents. She is also an only child, so who else is her family?
"Then I'll be there!"
"Okay, sir!"
I reached for my car keys, and for some reason, I felt curious about the life of this arrogant woman. At our wedding, only two people were accompanying her; they didn't even talk to me.
"Where are you going? Dad just called me and..."
"When you go home? Tell Emma to arrange your flight tickets whenever you want. About that traitor, let me handle it."
Alessio snorted, "Then where do you want to go now? Shouldn't we have some fun tonight since I'm visiting?"
"I have things to take care of; that arrogant woman is testing my patience."
"Who? Harper?"
"Yup, Emma will take care of the VIP room at the Greeny Club for you, and she will choose a woman according to your taste! I'm leaving."
My car was moving at high speed towards a place I hadn't visited for a long time. The last time I visited the grape estate it was when I threatened Harper's father. Now, I'm dealing with her daughter, and her daughter has the same attitude; it's troublesome.
It didn't take long for me to get there. My arrival was greeted with sharp stares from several people. As before, I used to think they were laborers that Lacour hired for this estate.
"You?" Harper greeted me with an unhappy tone. "Why did you come here? I told you I'd see you again!"
"When? I'm not good at waiting!" I answered calmly.
Several people appeared slowly. They gathered behind Harper and me, staring at me as if I were prey.
"What are they staring at? Like I walked into a wolf den or something!" I quipped. Even my men wouldn't have the gaze of wild animals like them.
Harper glanced in various directions, and with just a nod of her head, they all dispersed. At the entrance, the two people who came to my wedding also left.
"Wow, they are very obedient to their boss, even though you are just a woman!"
"Why so if I'm a woman?"
"Women are not suited to be leaders! Women are too weak, crybabies; even in battle, they involve feelings and pity the enemy!"
"Whatever you say! Go back to your house; I'll catch up with you later."
Harper turned around, but I grabbed her arm. "I've come a long way. Is this how you greet your husband?"
"Oh, come on, Mr Mattia, it's not like we had an intimate wedding, and you came here to lure your beloved wife back home. This is just an agreement between us, and this doesn't count towards my time working with you!"
"Well, that sounds interesting, but you know what sounds even more interesting?"
"What?"
"My family knows that we are married?"
"So?" she answered, still with an arrogant expression on her face, "I don't have a problem with that because you also know that this marriage is not what they imagined!"
"You sure are skilled at speaking, but I don't want to complicate my position! My father is compassionate, and my mother is too troublesome, so…"
"So what?"
"I want you to abort your pregnancy! You can't be pregnant!"
Harper raised her hand; she didn't think at all about landing a harsh slap on my cheek. "How dare you!" she snapped.
MATTIA"Interesting," I smiled slyly. "Speaking of women, I don't think I want to settle down with someone; even starting a family isn't my type," I trailed off."So what? Huh?" Harper cut me off, still with her haughty attitude. A woman ran up to her and touched her shoulder."Hey, is everything okay here?" asked the womanHarper turned her head briefly, and she gave the woman a different look. "It's okay, Agnes, I can handle it."I huffed, uncomfortable when other people interrupt my conversation like this: "So, don't cross your boundaries just because I married you, Harper! You slapped me, and that was too bold an act. Do you know what I mean?"I threatened her. All I want is a little quiet play. Harper had to abort her baby; she had to have a rugged body and live a long life to be my sacrifice."I need to make it clear to you that I respect the employment contract since I also work with the business, but my body is mine, and my baby is my right! You don't need to interfere in pers
HARPERNegotiations…This is the only way I can deal with the demon Mattia. He was presumptuous, too presumptuous to ask me to abort my baby. The anger I have endured all this time, my marriage was in vain. Only I know how my pain screams every night."You're something, Harper," Mattia's voice teased me, whether it was a compliment or an insult. I don't care about the color of his face."Well, if I'm willing to give myself a year of playing weddings with you, why don't you believe I can do something crazier than that?" I replied"And I like the way you comfort me like this."I suppressed all my anger at my feet and stepped on the giant Persian carpet that was the base of this room. I have to admit, Mattia's taste in decorating his residence is pretty good. But thinking about staying here forever is not my dream. This place is just full of disgusting air.How do Shifters smell to humans?Like damp dog fur or a dead crow, I can't describe it clearly. It depends; some humans don't even h
MATTIA"What's with all this chaos?" Alessio put away some of the clothes that were scattered around and looked for a room to sit in.My amber irises glanced at the clothes lying one by one. "I'm choosing a suitable uniform for Harper to wear.""Wait, what? A uniform like this?""Yup!""This kind of uniform is more suitable for maids. I thought you'd hire her as your secretary or something.""You know what? This woman is too bold! I have to teach her a few things to make her understand her limits.""Why? Did she threaten you? A woman threatened you?" Alessio's tone mocked me."Go back home damn it, why are you still here?" I protestedAlessio ruffled all the uniforms. He also picked up one that he thought was worthy for Harper to wear. The uniform is black, with short sleeves and a white collar. Likewise, the model is in the form of a dress with a knee-length pleated mane."This suits her! Wow, Mattia? If you're having fun this way, how could I go home like that? I also want to have f
HARPERWilder knows I've remarried, but I don't think he'll do anything about it. He's thrown me away; that's clearly what happened."Shit!" I cursed when dealing with charcoal on the kitchen grill. Which Mannor kitchen still uses traditional grills these days? Mattia's taste is old-fashioned.Several times, I passed by the waiter in this manner. They all wore professional clothes, which looked elegant on their bodies. I know Mattia deliberately made me wear this uniform; it's clear he wants to insult me in a subtle way."Luckily, he still gave me a comfortable room, huh? What is that? It's not like he thinks of me as a pregnant woman who has to sleep on a soft mattress, right?" I grumbled while working.I spend more energy cursing than my hands working physically. Even though Wilder didn't treat me like a wife while I was in his pack, I never had to do housework this hard. But he treated me as if I was dead. He made love to me always, with his body smelling of alcohol. Yeah, she prob
MATTIA"There are only two choices: either you think my mocktail is not delicious, or I put poison in it."I chuckled, but the sound of my laughter didn't give Harper the same pleasure. Realizing something unique about it. Every time I try to get lost in her gaze, the colour of her irises sometimes changes."This isn't funny at all, don't you think?" she replied flatly."Would you like a drink first? And see if there really is poison in it?""Oh, come on, Mattia! You got Mabel watching me like sticky gum! How could I do crazy things when I even need you!"She admitted that, and somehow, I felt proud because of her words. But of course, I didn't expect such praise from her. My head nodded, touching the mocktail glass in my hand gracefully."I'm out of the way now!" she said"Who gave you permission for that?""W-what?""I haven't told you to leave yet; I haven't even finished my mocktail yet."Coinciding with her face, which was red with emotion, I took off my clothes. It was very hot,
HARPER"He did this on purpose, right? He deliberately embarrassed me, right? I know it, I know it!" While I was cursing, Mabel handed me several sheets of paper. Can't she read the situation? Am I the annoyed one?Mattia, he really drives me almost half crazy. See the bossy way he gives orders to this and that? Holy fucking moon, he seems blind to realize that I'm pregnant."These are several important menu items that have become a consumer obligation for Mr. Mattia. You have to memorize this entire list.""What's this?" My eyes moved to the side, then down. Just looking at this writing makes me feel nauseous. "Is this the menu I have to prepare every day for Mattia?""Not every day; I mean, this is a special menu, which must be there! You understand what I mean. There must be!"My lips moved as I read the writing silently, but because the language made me feel strange, I accidentally spelt out the menu names."After hunting, he likes Mocktail drinks. For alcohol, he likes Marsala wi
MATTIAComplicated? There isn't a word like that in my dictionary. My father and mother taught us siblings differently. My mother is more critical in our personal matters, but not my father. He is a man who is really into money and hungry for power but loves his children more than his own life. The problem is that my parents and I are always at odds. Never one thought. I thought isolating myself from the country of my birth was the best choice to escape from home. Well, I'm a grown man. It's appropriate for me to leave the house. But for my mother? That is not true. My mother likes it when her children get together. We enjoyed bland hot tea together and then talked about our boring childhood."Alright, Mom! My people will pick you up at the airport!""Okay, Son, I have a surprise for you!""Suprise? You know I don't like that kind of thing!""Well, this is from me! Are you still going to say you don't like that?"My mother should have been able to hear the sound of my sighs as if she
I had the wrong focus on the dining table. There are ten chairs with a long table. A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. Standing still at the door, I watched Mabel arrange the dinner dishes on the table."Are you surprised by this meeting?" suddenly, Mabel taught me to speak. It seemed he was curious about my opinion about meeting Mattia's parents."This is a bit different from what I imagined!" I answered calmly, but my voice was a little low. I feared offending Mattia's extended family; after all, they weren't Werewolves with sharp hearing. I'm just being careful."Different from your previous past, what do you mean? You must have been close to your ex-husband's family before!" Mabel put down the bottle of a well-known brand of wine. Did she not think at all before saying something like that to me?My father set me up with Wilder for peace between hostile packs. I'm not even Wilder's mate, but he tried his best to get me used to his family.Wilder is an only child, the only s
