My breath caught in my throat as I stared at the gruesome scene before me. The air around us seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. Pearl's panicked voice echoed in my ears, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from the lifeless head of the wolf. The metallic scent of blood invaded my senses, making my stomach clench.

"We need to call him," I managed to say, my voice barely a whisper.

Eve, who stood a step behind me, nodded tersely. "Brax!" she called out, her voice strong and ringing through the air.

Moments later, I heard the pounding of heavy footsteps, and Brax came into view. His eyes widened in shock as he took in the sight before him. "What happened?" he demanded, his voice a mix of fury and worry.

"I... I don't know," Pearl stammered, tears streaming down her face. "I just found it like this."

Brax stepped closer, inspecting the severed head. He turned to me, his expression unreadable. "It's just a wolf. It is not one of our kind."

"But where did it come from?" I quest
