My breath caught in my throat as I stared at the gruesome scene before me. The air around us seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. Pearl's panicked voice echoed in my ears, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from the lifeless head of the wolf. The metallic scent of blood invaded my senses, making my stomach clench.

"We need to call him," I managed to say, my voice barely a whisper.

Eve, who stood a step behind me, nodded tersely. "Brax!" she called out, her voice strong and ringing through the air.

Moments later, I heard the pounding of heavy footsteps, and Brax came into view. His eyes widened in shock as he took in the sight before him. "What happened?" he demanded, his voice a mix of fury and worry.

"I... I don't know," Pearl stammered, tears streaming down her face. "I just found it like this."

Brax stepped closer, inspecting the severed head. He turned to me, his expression unreadable. "It's just a wolf. It is not one of our kind."

"But where did it come from?" I quest

I woke up with an inexplicable weight pressing down on my chest as though the air itself was holding a secret it refused to share. Shaking off the unease, I reminded myself that this was my wedding day. Nothing could ruin it—not even the horrors we had faced this week. With no answers to where the wolf's head had come from we just decided to pretend like it never happened but keep alert. The morning sunlight poured through the window, bathing the room in a warm glow. I glanced at my wedding dress hanging elegantly on the closet door and smiled. The thought of finally being Brax's true mate killed any worry that I had. I looked over to where he normally slept, his spot empty since he had spent the night out hunting, a family tradition they did in his family before their mating ceremony. As I slipped out of bed, a knock on the door pulled me further out of my thoughts. Pearl poked her head through the doorway, her eyes sparkling with excitement.“Good morning, Bride-to-Be!” she chirped,

The reception hall was a sight to behold. Twinkling fairy lights were strung across the high ceilings, casting a warm, ethereal glow that bounced off the elegant decorations and vibrantly adorned tables. Our guests' laughter and chatter filled the room, blending with the melody the live band was playing.Brax and I entered the hall, our arms intertwined as we took in the scene. I felt like I was floating, the joy of finally being his—as his true mate—lifting me above all my worries. We made our way to the centre of the dance floor for our first dance as husband and wife. As the music began, Brax pulled me closer, and I melted into him."How does it feel to be my wife?" he whispered, his lips grazing my ear."Unreal," I murmured, smiling up at him. "It feels like a dream."His eyes sparkled with the same emotion that blossomed within me. The world seemed to dissolve around us, leaving just Brax and me swaying gently in each other’s arms. However, the feeling was shattered as the grand

The tension in the room was strong, and I could feel the energy from everyone in that room, ready to fight to defend their Alpha and myself. But I couldn't let anyone be hurt, not because of me. I saw Nick go to step forward, but I glared at him, telling him with my eyes to stay where he was.I let go of Brax despite his trying to stop me; I had to protect everyone in this room. "Luna, you cannot possibly defy us," my mother declared, her tone stern and unyielding. "You belong with your true family."My heart pounded in my chest. "I don't even know you," I retorted. "And yet you think you can dictate my life?"The corners of her mouth curled into a cruel smile. "Perhaps if you hadn’t been so difficult to find, things would be different. But you’ve always had a stubborn streak, just like your father."Brax stepped forward, his presence a pillar of strength. "She’s not going anywhere with you," he said, his voice low and threatening. "She’s my mate, and she’s staying here where she bel

The pain was too much for me to bear. I could feel the power getting ready to explode out of me. My grief fueled its intensity, making every heartbeat a blazing inferno. The room blurred around me, my vision tinted with hot, angry tears as I cradled Brax's lifeless body."Luna, please," Brax's voice was faint, a ghostly whisper in the whirlwind of my anguish. My head snapped to his face, but his body was still lifeless. Then, a warm hand touched my face, making me look to see a glowing Brax standing in front of me."Brax? How is this possible?" My voice trembled, disbelieving yet desperate."Luna, listen to me. You must control it. Don't let your grief destroy everything." His eyes, so full of love, pierced through my pain."But I can't... I can't live without you," I choked, feeling the energy raging within me like a caged beast, desperate to be unleashed."You have to. For me. For you. There’s still so much for you to live for," Brax said, his hand cupping my face. His warmth seemed

Strong arms ripped me away from Brax as I screamed for them to leave me with him. I hadn't realised that although it felt like only a few seconds of me sitting there holding him, I had been there for hours sobbing.“You have to let him go, Luna.” Jack's voice said softly as he pulled me into him, ignoring my futile attempts to push him away.“No, no, no!” I howled, each refusal punctuated with a feeble shove against Jack’s firm chest. “He’s all I had left, Jack. I can’t just—” My voice broke, the words too painful to form.“We’ll get through this,” Jack murmured, his voice a steady anchor in my sea of torment. I wanted to believe him, but it felt like I was drowning in my grief, each wave of sorrow pulling me further into the pain.I could still see Brax's face when I closed my eyes, his final words echoing through my mind: "Live. For me." How could I live when every breath felt like a betrayal to his memory? Yet, as Jack's arms held me, a small part of me clung to Brax's last request

The hours merged into days and the days into weeks. The tears never stopped falling, and the pain I felt in my heart was too much to bear. I hardly moved from my bed. I was never alone, though someone was always there watching me, waiting for me to completely lose it. I begged in my mind to the gods and goddesses to let me see him like I had spike but they never answered my prayers. The night before the funeral, the tears just stopped everything. I felt the pain, the sorrow, and the unbearable feeling of being alone just left me being replaced by an emptiness that could never be filled. Jack drove me to the cemetery. No one in the car said a word. I caught glimpses of concerned glances cast my way, but I couldn’t respond. My heart was an open wound, too raw to be touched, too deep to be healed. We arrived, and the faces of family and friends blurred together, a sea of people offering condolences that rang hollow in my ears. They crowded around Brax's grave, a heartbreaking gathering

A few days passed in a haze of exhaustion and routines I barely registered. Then, one morning, a strange sensation washed over me. I felt nauseous, and an inexplicable flutter danced in my belly. For a moment, I dismissed it—grief could wreak havoc on the body in unimaginable ways. But the feeling persisted, like an insistent whisper in my mind. Peral came by to check on me. I’m guessing it was her turn to watch over me. "Luna, you look pale," she observed, overtaking her face. "Are you eating enough?""I don't know," I admitted. "I haven't really been keeping track."She sighed, reaching out her hand for me to take. “Come on….” She stopped talking as soon as she took my hand. “Oh my god.” A smile played on her lips.I stood there staring at her, unsure of what she was smiling about. “what's wrong? I asked.“Luna, you're pregnant.” Her voice was filled with excitement. I felt the world tilt on its axis. "Pregnant?" I echoed my voice barely a whisper.Peral nodded fervently. "Yes! Y

I knew what I had to do. Once I found out I was pregnant, I had to learn how to control and use my powers so I could protect my children. I could no longer risk anything, but most of all, I couldn’t let my powers overtake me anymore. If I let them, there was a chance I could slip into the darkness, and I would fail my children.I began my training every day without fail. Pearl offered to help me, and even though she didn’t have the powers that I did, she still understood more than I did. We met at Draw every morning, a time when the world was at peace, and anything seemed possible. "Alright, Luna," Pearl said, her voice firm yet gentle. "Today, we're going to focus on channelling your energy. You need to harness your powers fully if you are going to protect them."I nodded, determination settling in my core. "I understand. Let's do this."We started with basic exercises and grounding techniques to help me connect with the energy within. Pearl demonstrated each move with fluid grace,
