ELARA
"Wake up, Elara," said a husky voice.
The voice...
It sounded like the chime of a thousand bells or the buzz of a thousand insects. It was soft, yet commanding. Even though I wanted nothing more than to remain in the darkness, I was compelled to obey.
Blinding white light hit my eyes the moment I opened them. I was in some sort of a void, white, empty space.
Stunned, I looked around. There was a figure close by, the figure of a woman, tall, majestic and beautiful, made of light and shadows that shifted as she floated in the air.
A crown shaped like a half moon, glittering with gems that blazed like the sun, sat on top of her head.
"Who- who are you?" I gasped, scooting away from her. "Where am I?" Then as I looked down at myself and saw I was semi transparent, I asked in a shaky voice, "What exactly am I?"
"You're dead, child," she said. Her lips didn't move but her voice chimed in my head. "You're in a place we call the supernatural shadow valley."
It hit me then with the force of a ton of bricks. I was dead. I was in some sort of limbo.
I cupped my stomach, my voice breaking as I asked, "My baby! What happened to him?"
The beautiful eyes drooped a little and I knew the answer even before she said, "The child is in a better place now."
I felt pain, worse than any physical one rip through my chest. My child was gone, taken from me before he had even gotten a chance to see the world.
I shuddered and felt like dying again.
"Life is death, Elara," the woman said. "Young or old, all mortals must die."
My eyes snapped back up to her face.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"The goddess of the moon," was the answer. "Remember, you called me here."
Was this real?
I blinked but her image did not waver.
"You mean you're the moon goddess? I didn't think you would-" I shook my head as another pang of pain shot through me. I felt my shoulders sag at the hopelessness of it all. "What comes after this?"
After a pause, she said, "Several things can happen, all depending on you."
I glared at her, not caring if she could hurt me for being disrespectful. She probably couldn't anyway. I was barely even there.
"Like what?" I snapped. "Why are we even having this conversation? You let me die! If you can't bring me back to life or let me get revenge on the people that killed me and my child, then let's end this. Send me to hell or wherever. I don't care anymore!"
Silence fell. The moon goddess didn't seem angry, just patient, like she had seen this same reaction lots of times before.
Something I had just said nagged at the back of my mind.
With my voice low, almost pleading, I asked, "Is that something you can do? Can you... Can you make me alive again?"
"There are a lot of things I can do but I do not tamper with the laws and forces of nature as they're the laws that keep the universe in perfect balance. You didn't just die, child. Your body was broken beyond repair. But revenge... revenge is the one thing I can help you get."
"How? You just said you couldn't bring me back to life."
"I never said that. I only said I can't reanimate your old body. You can live if only you're willing to take the chance."
Remembering how powerless I had been against Allan and Pete, I shook my head. "I don't stand a chance against them if my new life is anything like my old one. I'm weak and wolfless and I'll probably end up dead again."
"You underestimate yourself, child. You have abilities far greater than having a wolf. You've always been special."
Special? If my father had not been an Alpha, I would have been worse than ordinary.
"I'll make you an offer," the goddess continued. "I will give you an edge over the others and a chance to go back to earth but..."
"But what?" I asked, curious and yet, hopeful in spite of myself.
If there was a chance for me to live again, I sure as hell was going to take it.
"But I can let you live for only one hundred days. If you want to have a long, mortal life, you will have to find a mate before the hundred days are up. I will also give you a chance to choose the form but not the body you will live in. Whatever form you choose will be permanent."
"A m-mate," I said.
"Yes. You are also not to tell a soul of what happened here today. On the day you do, you will cease to exist. Do you agree to the terms?"
I scrambled to my feet.
"Yes," I said quickly. "Will I have wolf abilities when I get back to earth?"
"You will if you choose wisely." She held out a glowing hand. In it was a silver coin. The coin floated into my palm. "You will flip this and then choose who you will become next."
I swallowed. I flipped the coin. It hung in the air, turning slowly as the darkness closed in on me, blotting out everything else.
"Remember... one hundred days," echoed the distant voice.
********
I heard myself moaning softly as I moved up and down the hard, thick length of something inside me.
The man under me pulled back then slammed back into me with a force that made me cry out. Strong, rough hands gripped my waist.
Eyes closed, head thrown back, I surrendered to the overwhelming pleasure. I didn't want to stop.
This felt right. This felt good.. I felt the pad of the man's thumb graze the throbbing nub between my legs. I gasped at the unexpected contact.
"Oh shit!" I bit out.
I bounced faster on his erection. I felt the familiar tension, like a taut spring, settle in the pit of my stomach. My moans grew louder. So did the sound of naked flesh slapping against flesh.
My core tightened. I shook as the orgasm ripped through me. The man groaned, arched his back and shoved himself even deeper. I felt his hot seed splash into my womb.
Together, we rode the crest for a few seconds more. It was like we were in sync, perfect for each other. With a sigh, the man fell back on the bed.
"Get up," I heard him say.
His cold, uncaring tone was like a dash of cold water on my face.
I opened my eyes and found myself staring into a pair of sapphire eyes framed by long, thick lashes. Those beautiful eyes were currently glaring at me. The man's features were so perfect I couldn't help but stare.
"Get off me, Arianna!" he barked.
When I still didn't move, he pushed me off with such force I went over the bed.
My back hit the wall so hard I felt my wolf whimper.
I froze. My wolf? I had a wolf?
I started to scream in excitement, then clapped my hand over my mouth to keep it in when I remembered the man was still in the room.
It all came rushing back; my death, the conversation with the goddess, the coin, the name the man had called me- Arianna.
Panting with excitement, I ran my hands over my naked body. My new body.
I was no longer Elara. I was Arianna!
GREGORI forced myself to hold still. I was not ready to climax yet. But she was so warm, so wet, so tight. I squeezed her breasts, kneaded them in my palm. She let out a soft, almost cat- like moan. "Oh yes," she purred, pressing her breasts against my hand and reaching down to touch herself. I started to move again, driving all the way in before pulling back out. I knew every inch of her body, down to the little mole at the side of her breasts so why did it feel like I was screwing a stranger?"Faster," she whispered, arching her back. Apparently I was too slow for her because in one quick movement, she wiggled out from under me, pushed me back on the bed, straddled me and pushed my entire length into her tight sheath. With a muttered curse, she got off, yanked my trousers all the way down and tossed it over her shoulder. Then she was on me again, riding me at a frenzied pace. I was thrusting in and out of her, loosing myself to the pleasure when it happened. As she started
ELARA"Luna," the guards in every corridor I passed greeted me. I had to keep reminding myself that they were referring to me. Me!Gregor's voice kept echoing in my head. I was his Luna, mother of two children, Queen of a vast kingdom. It felt like I was in a dream, nothing felt real anymore. As I walked, I kept repeating the names under my breath so they could stick- Jamie, Julia, Alvan, Bannock, Shadowvale, Gregor...I wondered if Gregor suspected the truth. There had been a bad moment when I couldn't offer up an explanation after Amber had talked about me having kids, but then the idea of faking amnesia had popped into my head. I stood in one of the corridors of the mansion, trying to decide how to ask one of the guards or maids for directions to the children's room when I saw Amber come out of a room and hurty downstairs. I had to take several deep breaths before I found the courage to open the door of the room she had just left. Two dark haired children, surrounded by a lot
GREGOR"Ten minutes past the hours of seven. It must be time for dinner." I said as I slowly took my gaze off my wristwatch. For the moment that I was off the books, my mind wandered to what had transpired between me and Arianna. "I am not hallucinating at all.At least not when I could still remember how she behaved before and how she suddenly changed." I said slowly as I looked over the ceiling. I tried to take my mind off the whole issue but I just could not get my mind off it at all. It was as if the more I tried to stop myself from thinking about it, the more I thought about it. "What suddenly changed? How did she just become a new person overnight? Forgetting all that had happened in the last years of her life. Was she joking or trying to fake amnesia?" Many thoughts and questions crawled around my chests forcing a slight scoff out of me. I heaved a heavy sigh as I looked at the door. I forced myself to stand up from the chair that I sat down. Just then, a knock came on the doo
ARIANNA Dinner came to an end sooner than I thought. I could not feel more embarrassed by the whole actions that took place at the dining table. I wished I could talk to the goddess of the moon one more time. "This was more of a punishment than a blessing. How do I navigate through a new life completely?" This question usually popped up in my mind each time I was alone. Not to fault the moon goddess but she didn't do it right when she woke me up in the body of a completely different woman. Now, I have to live two different lives - that of Arianna and also mine. "The kids want to see you before they sleep. I tried to let them know that you were stressed out but they said it was the only thing that was going to make them sleep." Amber's voice suddenly jolted me from my reverie as I stood there in the corridor. I rapidly nodded my head. Many thoughts rushed through my mind as I walked away from where I stood. I made sure to memorize the way that led to the room of the twins and in no ti
Allan's POV"What is all this that's growing in my face?" Pete asked as he stood there in front of the mirror and I was forced to look at him even if I could not see what he was talking about. There was a moment of silence in the room and then he tilted his head slightly to look at me, causing our eyes to meet."Why did you give me that look? What is going on with you?" I asked immediately and then he shrugged, turning his whole body to look at me. He looked like he was trying to arrange the thoughts in his head before he inhaled deeply to talk."I really should be asking you that. Since Elara died, you have been acting strange. You are no longer yourself. You act like you weren't involved in the plan before we killed her. And more, we made it look like suicide. Don't tell me that you are affected by her death!" His voice was stern and I just could not help but lower my head slightly as many thoughts rushed through my head."Why can't you see beyond what is in front of you? You are ju
ALPHA DALE "Have I told you how much I don't like being disturbed when I am trying to figure out a plan? Maybe you need to leave me for a while to think since you cannot do it yourself, then allow me to do it for you." I angrily scolded, Marie, my wife, and Luna of my pack - the Bannock pack. She had just ripped off the throat of a maid for spilling water on the floor and the whole of her room was covered in blood when we had guests in the house for the mourning of Elara which I was directly involved in. I just could not let myself leave her to clear her own mess by herself. While trying to cover our tracks, she was trying to make it visible."Are you really going to shout at me because of what, one dead maid in the room? You are unbelievable right now and I am so pissed at your reaction towards this...." I didn't let her finish before I yelled at her to keep her filthy mouth shut and she did without asking any questions."Are you dumb? Marie we have guests in the house and a dead b
ELARA As I dragged my feet through the flight of stairs, finding my way back to the room, I could not help but wonder how the day went. It was a no-brainer that they had all been suspecting me from the way I acted. "The moon goddess would have allowed me access to a few of the memories of this lady that was housing my soul," I said to myself and it was just then I found myself standing in front of the door to the room. Just when I placed my hand on the doorknob, the door opened as if it was touch-activated. "What are you doing out here?" Alpha Gregor's voice echoed sharply and I was jolted back to reality. He pulled me in rapidly and I could see the anger in his facial expression. "Do I just tell him everything? That I was not Arianna, his wife and I was just an occupant in her body." I asked myself as I looked away from him. It then struck my mind as I stood there before him. "But how did he know when I touched the doorknob?" I asked myself as I raised my head to look at him."But.
PETE "Come on to the bed. Relax and take a deep breath and everything is going to be fine. Do you need me to calm Mom? So that you will be assured that it's all going to be fine?" I asked Allan who had been acting like he was a baby for the past thirty to thirty-five minutes. "Did he think that I agreed to kill my step-sister over nothing?" I asked myself and then looked away from him. The silence in the room spoke a lot of volumes, and the only sound I could hear was that of his heart beating extremely fast like he was racing on a track."Do you need some time to yourself? Perhaps you will just be fine by yourself. Seems my presence is making things worse for YOU right now. You should be fine." I paused for a while to see his reaction but he remained the way he was. He stayed that way and didn't change at all, not even uttering a single word. I didn't waste time to take that as a yes. I stood up from the bed and walked away from him trying not to turn around to look at him. The doo
Elara's POV As I stood there in front of him, I couldn't bring down the pace of my heartbeat. He spoke like he knew what was going on. As if he knew that I knew what was going on with him and the head maid. I didn't know what else to do so I just kept mute and waited for him to talk but he also kept mute. I heaved a sigh as I didn't know what to do. My heart was beating fast and I couldn't do anything about it. I exhaled rapidly and just then, he stood up from the bed and walked towards the center of the room before he talked."You think you can just stay quiet while I talk? What a nerve you have developed. I don't know what it is but I have made up my mind to find out exactly who you are and if I found you wanting, I would not hesitate to kill you. You know some months ago, you suddenly went missing in the pack and then you came back, giving me a flimsy excuse. You didn't even think for once that I might punish you and out of the goodness of my heart, I accepted you back into the pa
Allan's POV My life in this pack had been so dry and full of traumatic experiences since the call off of the wedding. I tried to get on the good side of my parents but they both made me understand that the only time they would ever be happy with me was when I went back to marry Sonia. I had already made up my mind never to marry her, especially after knowing the reason behind them trying to arrange the whole marriage stuff. I tried to make excuses for them but I could not make any excuses for them at all. I wanted them to be themselves while I was myself. "You know what. I don't care if they accept me again or not. I don't care if they talk to me or not forever. They can choose to give birth to another son and fix a marriage for him or her but as for me, I cannot allow myself to be used as a bounty for some selfish goal. How can you call me your son and do all this to me? It's not done that way at all." I said to myself loudly like I was having a real conversation with myself. I hea
Sonia's POV "You know you are a cursed child right? You don't deserve me as your father. You are an illegitimate child. I don't know what it is that you are thinking but from today, I never want you to greet me or do anything that is going to concern me. Since you think that you are old enough to pull this off, you should be old enough to cater to all your needs as of today." His exact words when he found out that I was baking out of the marriage with Allan. He had since not talked to me. I didn't know how best to make him understand that I was not cut out for that kind of marriage. I didn't know what to do so I have since tried to take my mind off everything he said to me. I didn't even know why it all came to my mind this morning and I had to even sit outside my room, lost in thoughts.I suddenly felt a touch on my shoulder and I quickly looked to see who had the effrontery to touch me in such a manner. As I looked up to see who it was, my gaze fell on Eli as she stood there with a
ELARAIt was a sunny day and I could not help but wonder why all of a sudden I found myself in the past. "What really happened?" I asked myself. It was as if the witch gave us that concoction to take, it affected us and took us back in time. I saw myself in the warrior place again and then I had to go through it again. I didn't know how to go about it so I tried to forget it and focus on the pressing issues that were on the ground. I heaved a sigh as my thoughts wandered off to the fact that Levi and Sonia agreed to call off their wedding. "How did this even happen? They were supposed to get better wedded by tomorrow. What is going on with them? I never knew it would get to this point in their marriage." I said to myself. I sat there in the middle of the room as I thought about how the mating ceremony was going to be. "I just hope that I find someone who is going to love me for who I am. Not judge me for any reason and I also hope I get my wolf too." I said to myself as I sat there o
ELARA"I was thinking of that too. I have a lot of things to talk to you about. The past few weeks and perhaps months, have been tedious in terms of events. Many things unfolding and your acting strangely is enough to talk about. But I don't think you are in the right state to talk right now." He talked slowly like he was trying to carefully select his words, or perhaps he was trying to count his words as they left his mouth."I am okay. I need to talk to you about something very very important. It cannot wait. I think I have dragged this for too long and it is starting to affect me, you, and the entire castle." I said, trying to sit up on the bed and he aided me. He arranged the pillow to support my back and I smiled slightly."I think I have an idea about what you are about to talk about. See, I have been having these dreams. Very disturbing and alarming. There were many people there but you weren't there. Your brother, Allan is there and also the daughter of alpha Gunther is there
KING GREGOR "Your majesty. We found your wife." The head of the guards broke the news to me moments after I gave him an order to find her wherever she went. I sat there in the room, facing the window. I reflected on the past few days, weeks, and months. Many things have happened within the past few weeks. Things that I really can't explain and I don't have the explanation of. First, it was the sudden changes that Arianna started to show. She acted so differently and I just had to ignore all of it. Then followed, was her sudden claim of memory loss. I don't know but I seemed to believe her.As if all these weren't enough to mess with my mental health, the dreams started to come up. Unexplainable dreams that could raise my doubt in ten folds. It would have been better if the witch were able to translate the dreams but she was of little or no help at all. Above all, the most surprising thing was my sudden likeness for Arianna. I never liked her before. The only reason I was involved wit
ELARAI opened my eyes suddenly and the first thing I saw was this magnificent creature. It looked like someone that I had seen before. No! I cannot be here. This was not how I planned this to go. I kept trying to make myself believe that I was sleeping and then the voice came at me."Elara! I suppose you know where you are presently. What happened to you? Why were you stirred off what you wanted to go and do? You begged for a chance and you got the chance but what did you choose to do?" I felt a sting in my heart as I recalled the day that I was begging the moon goddess for a second chance. A chance to go and avenge my death and that of my unborn child. "I don't know where to start. Perhaps it was as easy as I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be easy to carry out the whole plan I had in mind but it was tougher than I thought. There were a lot of constraints. The person whose body I woke up in had a life of her own and it just mixed up with the whole thing. At so
SONIA"No, you didn't do anything. As a matter of fact, we had just finished what we wanted to iron out. We were just about to step out of the room and come downstairs to join them for breakfast. How are you?" He ended his statement with an awkward question. His facial expression said it all. If only he could take back his words, he would not hesitate. "How had he always perceived Eli?" That was something that I had never asked him. I didn't want to sound awkward so I just kept mute and waited for her to talk. Many thoughts rushed through my mind and just when she wanted to talk, I could not afford her to tell him what happened the previous day, I cleared my throat slightly to talk and then their attention turned towards me."You know you don't have to be so formal right? We could go back to the way that we have been doing. The small plays and everything. Things might not be as you think they are. Right, Allan." I could not deny the fact that it felt extremely awkward saying all that
SONIAI knew for sure that it was Eli who was standing in front of the door. "What could she be looking for? Did the alpha send it to us? Many thoughts rushed through my mind as I looked at the doorknob and also the face of Allan as he also looked at the doorknob. I thought of ignoring the knock but not long after, the knock came on the door again and I had to heave a sigh. "Even if I needed this interruption, it was too quickly. She should have waited for us to finish all this before she came to knock on the door." I thought for a while.I walked towards the door slowly but hastened my steps as the knock came again and stayed frequent. I could not take my mind off what had happened earlier. I didn't know what to do or how to go about it. "Perhaps he might be feeling awkward and timid after the show or perhaps he enjoyed it as much as I did. Whichever way it is or however it is, I am not fazed by anything." I said to myself as I reached for the doorknob and quickly pulled it to see wh
